Very casual and very perfect! Great beer, friendly staff, and amazing seafood to fit the setting. This landlocked Phoenician loved the ocean view and the amazing seafood!

Shrimp and fish tacos... both great but the fish was better

Great stop on our drive up the coast. The food was great, the view was amazing, and the staff was friendly.

Service is very friendly. The food is mediocre bowling alley food at best, at the price of a Michelin star restaurant. You order everything (food and drinks) at the bar, pay upfront, and they bring it to you. They write about their 1800s Bavarian bar on their website, with barstools in the pictures, but in reality you can't sit at the bar. The view for sunset on the outdoor patio is great though. I'd go for a beer again (Pliny the Elder on tap is a win!), but get your food elsewhere if you can.

A hidden gem. The food is delicious (and the seafood is fresh). It's easy to mess up oysters. The oysters in the Oyster Po' Boy? Perfect. The quesadilla? Fresh, colorful and tasty. Relaxed yet efficient and cheerful service. Nice view of the cove. It's easy to miss, so look for the signs. While you're there, visit the little market in the back. Really good chocolate cake. Pier Place is on the 2nd floor -there's an elevator for accessibility. Dog-friendly outdoor seating available. We'll worth a visit.

Came here for dinner on a Friday night. Order at the bar and they bring the food to you. There was live music which was good but very loud, so it was hard to talk inside. The outdoor seating was full though. I got the rockfish which has a very mild flavor, but they added veggies and sauce for more flavor. Fish was tender and not dry. Friends got fish and chips and said it was good. Came with a lot of fries. Nice views of the ocean. Large parking lot.

This restaurant is tucked away in a beautiful cove overlooking the ocean. They are located on the 2nd story of the building with a few businesses below. When you walk in, go straight to the bar where you order your food and drinks. They have open seating with beautiful views of the ocean. Food: 7.5/10 Fish tacos - the fish was soft/flakey and cooked to perfection. The veggies on top were an interesting touch, more than I'm used to, but they tasted good. The homemade tortilla shockingly held together under the weight of the huge tacos. Very good portion size! 6/10 Oysters and Chips - let me say that the fry on the oysters and chips was perfect! The breading and tartar sauce was flavorful and tangy. I give the 6/10 because when oysters are cooked they tend to be mushy and creamy, which was an odd texture change with the fried outing. 8/10 Clam Chowder - served hot, peppery with no skimping on the clams or veggies. It's a very thick soup and well worth the try! Overall will be back when visiting in the area!

We were recommended this place by a local and was intrigued by their pet friendly patio! Although it was chilly outside, the views were worth it. We ordered our food inside by the bar and our food was delivered to us super quickly! The fish and chips were a hefty portion and was accompanied by a creamy coleslaw and crispy fries. My partner got their chimichurri chicken and was stunned by how juicy and tender the chicken was. The dish definitely had a kick! We also ordered their ice cream sandwich which was just alright. Overall, we loved this place. Everything and everyone was great and we will be coming back whenever we visit again! Don't worry about the parking situation. There's plenty of it!

This place is a hidden gem. For anyone that has driven up or down CA-1 you know that when you pass through point arenas that there isn't much. Gas station closes at 6pm. We found this place and have been back 3 times in 6 months. Do yourself a favor and try something other than the safe items like a quesadilla or chicken tenders. Fish and chips are a must. Chimichurri chicken sandwich absolutely slaps. Beet salad 10/10 - coming from someone who doesn't care for beets. Pliny the elder is usually on tap. The food is always great, the service is even better.

This place was in walking distance of our hotel. It's located on the water with great views. The service is friendly and dining room is clean with lots of chatter happening among the locals and other tourists. They don't have a full bar but had some tasty cocktails made with Sake and have beer and wine options. The food was pretty darn good. Only complaints we had was our calamari had nice pieces on top but what looked like the bottom of the bag crumbles underneath and the Cesar salad (not pictured, unfortunately) had too little of dressing. We could have asked for more but by that point we were stuffed and wanted to save room for our dessert. The food runners were timely and served with a smile. Over all it's a stop for us in the future

This was a great meal. The food came out fast and we had a fantastic view by the window. Garlic fries were the best I've ever had! You will not be disappointed.

We enjoyed dinner our early dinner here very much. The dog friendly patio is beautiful. You order and pay inside and then just sit and look out into the ocean. Our food was great. We had the oyster po boy and the rockfish tacos. The tacos had me licking my fingers. Service was super friendly. I absolutely recommend!

Usually we like sitting at the bar to see the chefs do their thing, but this place is not like that at least the night we went to which was surprising cause Japanese establishments typically are cooking out in the open. They had a lot of different sakes which was really nice to see but no draft beer unless I missed it. They let you pick a cup for your sake which is so cute, I loved that. All their table wear was so beautiful. We got a fruity sake first and loved that one. The second one was the "goku" it was giving straight sake. I'd prolly stick to fruitier ones. The server was very kind and she was easy to talk to and provided great service. As for the food, I thought it was pretty okay! We ordered the omakase which was $75 per person and it was very filling. We had trout sashimi which had some bite texturally not my fave fish tbh. Potato Salad which a jammy egg omg I loved it but wondered how it'd taste if the egg was marinated. The mushroom soup was lemony and oniony it was pretty good. The karage could've been crispier imo and I wish the wasabi aoli was a lil different but it was still good. The robata was hella good my fave was the meatball one, I'm not a big fan of cartilage but that it very well cooked, and I appreciated the pile seasoning provided as well. The strawberry topped panna cotta was so good no notes. Overall, pretty good and I'd go again if I was in this area and order individual dishes especially the potato salad and panna cotta. Not really the vibe of an izakaya imo they also don't have ginger but def a nice Japanese restaurant with some twists.

Wife suggested we try somewhere new and I saw this place on Yelp. Ordered: Fish and chips, Clam Chowder on Bread bowl, Fried Calamari, one beer, one lemonade. The place is an outside place filled with people. Vibe was casual and the lady who help me was nice. I was looking forward to the fish and chips, and these were very disappointing. One plus was that there were huge chunks of fish, and it was a pretty good size helping. However, the fish and batter had very little flavor, and there was very little crispness to it. The fries were ok, but nothing to write home about. Felt like frozen chunks for fish with a meh batter and frozen fries. It was ok, but definitely nothing to write home about. The clam chowder was essentially a potato soup. There were more chunks of potato than there WAS soup. Might as well have ordered potato soup. It was also very much lacking in flavor. The bread was cold, and again, felt like store bought bread that I could have gotten at Safeway. Not good. Now, the Calamari is where I got a surprise. I'm betting there's no way IN HELL that calamari was made or breaded in the restaurant. I'm betting that calamari was bought in a store somewhere and then deep fried. Don't get me wrong, it was the best thing I bought (tasty, peppery, crunchy, with a good dip), but it was so flavorful, I'm willing to BET the same people who made those fish and chips and that clam chowder IN NO WAY could season that calamari that way. That's my logic, and I stand by it. In short, I was hoping to have a good lunch, but left disappointed and let down by the good recommendation on Yelp. Unlikely to come back.

Well, my concerns went out the door upon having an evening drink at the bar and then dinner. It was so good that I decided we should come for dinner the following night as well. It is good to make a reservation. The restaurant is rustic, "woodsy" and very casually comfortable. The wait staff is awesome. They are friendly, professional and very attentive. Both nights was a delight, and we enjoyed chatting and getting to know them. The first night I had the Pt Reyes oysters. They were fantastic. Firm, succulent and delicious; bathed in a light mignonette and tarragon. Perfect! For my main course I had the Summer Vegetable Pasta. It was equally delicious. The pasta was fresh, al dente and bite size. All of the accompaniments, including artichoke pieces, were spot on and blended perfectly for an excellent meal. I was quite satisfied. The next evening I started with the Smoked Rock Cod Rillettes which came on two crostini and made similar to a tuna fish spread. Quite tasty this local fish was a great way to start the meal. After I chose to have the Pork Tenderloin. It was so tasty, moist and delicious. I had it medium rare and that was just right for me. The sauce with it was a great addition, plus the pickled apple, greens and bacon. YUM! Both truly delicious, enjoyable meals. Having a glass of wine for both dinners was just right and they have a nice selection. As for the bar the mixologist bartender was right on his game. I had a Manhattan on the rocks. It was so smooth and just the right mix. Ed had a Bourbon Sour and was quite content. I would gladly eat here again. It is a bit pricey but the value was definitely there.

Now that we're on the Sonoma coast quite often I wasn't quite ready for a sit down, so I decided to take the chowder to go. According to the hostess, the bar staff would take my to go order. So I probably sat at the bar for I want to think about five minutes before I was even acknowledged that's very disappointing. it really gives you a dismissive feeling when other guests are being intended. I'm not talking about a large group 4 down to two people, and I honestly felt ignored. Any way I waited patiently and was finally asked if I could be helped so I said yeah I wanna place it to go order. I'm kind of driving down the road and I just wanna take it to go. That was no problem. I wandered around the property, which is really lovely while I waited for my chowder. My receipt came to approximately $37 for my to go order of only two servings of chowder. I served it that evening, along with a salad and some filet mignon in the comfort of our own accommodations. While the flavor was whatever I remembered, it was a great flavor. It's rich and it's definitely comfort food. However, the potatoes were all raw basically uncooked not at all what I would expect for a seafood chowder. While the potatoes should be not mushy, these were just nearly raw. After the anticipation of looking forward to enjoying and sharing this dish, I feel pretty disappointed. So I can cross this one off my foodie bucket list. Been there done that was just OK. #coastkitchen
