Pre-dinner popcorn is a great touch, and it's top notch popcorn - crisp and salted well. Carrot salad - loved this. Smoky carrots roasted nice and soft with some sweetness, some crunch, some creaminess, and a tasty dressing. Great dish! White bean soup - this is very savory and hearty, perfect on a cold day, and the portion is generous too! The sundae is such a great idea. Classic soft serve with pretty much every topping option you can think of. Thank you for the great experience and the great meal!

The place is lively, the vibes are great, and the service attentive- however, the food is another story. We started out with a michelada and a sangria - both were decent. Next ordered the bean dip that came with a beet hummus and a black bean dip plus bread to eat it with. The dips were just ok flavor wise, but the bread that it came with was burnt, overly salty and just not enjoyable. We were hungry and hoping this was just the wrong item to order. So we ordered the buffalo wings that took FOREVER to come out and it's probably because they were busy overcooking them- super dry chicken meat and the most unpalatable potato wedges that I have been served. Several pieces looked rotten and they were completely drenched in oil. No crisp, overcooked- disgusting. Paid $70 + tip and left hungry. Unfortunately, once we left there no other food places were open. Won't be back.

They have a very large selection of sake, and the servers know and talk with the locals which is so nice to see in our modern society. The sashimi was absolutely stunningly good. Every dish was fantastic (we did the chef tasting menu - 5 course meal) and at the end we both looked at the Michelin guide because "this place has to be rated!) Take a drive or reroute yourself through Point Arena. You won't be sorry.

Usually we like sitting at the bar to see the chefs do their thing, but this place is not like that at least the night we went to which was surprising cause Japanese establishments typically are cooking out in the open. They had a lot of different sakes which was really nice to see but no draft beer unless I missed it. They let you pick a cup for your sake which is so cute, I loved that. All their table wear was so beautiful. We got a fruity sake first and loved that one. The second one was the "goku" it was giving straight sake. I'd prolly stick to fruitier ones. The server was very kind and she was easy to talk to and provided great service. As for the food, I thought it was pretty okay! We ordered the omakase which was $75 per person and it was very filling. We had trout sashimi which had some bite texturally not my fave fish tbh. Potato Salad which a jammy egg omg I loved it but wondered how it'd taste if the egg was marinated. The mushroom soup was lemony and oniony it was pretty good. The karage could've been crispier imo and I wish the wasabi aoli was a lil different but it was still good. The robata was hella good my fave was the meatball one, I'm not a big fan of cartilage but that it very well cooked, and I appreciated the pile seasoning provided as well. The strawberry topped panna cotta was so good no notes. Overall, pretty good and I'd go again if I was in this area and order individual dishes especially the potato salad and panna cotta. Not really the vibe of an izakaya imo but def a nice Japanese restaurant with some twists.

As soon as we walked out to the car, we changed our minds and decided to go back in. The host said "let me see if I can find you a table really quick". I ate the clam chowder as my entree -- amazing!! My husband had the salmon special, which he loved. Ambience and view were amazing as well as service. I looked at the menu and we're talking hamburgers fish and chips etc. it's a very casual place, not white tablecloth fancy dining at all, very casual. We each ordered fish and chips. $29 each! I was not all impressed with the food. The service was good and the view is a million dollar view with a fresh flower on the table. We only had water to drink, no cocktails, nothing else. nothing special. Out bill came to something like $76. I would not go back there. I could walk around the Pelican Bluff coastal trail for the amazing view.

I must say, it exceeded all our expectations! We arrived slightly early, and as we waited a friendly gentleman approached us inquiring if we needed assistance. Though the restaurant had not yet opened, he kindly spoke with the staff on our behalf. He invited us to sit in the charming, shaded courtyard. Which was perfect especially since we were accompanied by our sweet Boston Terrier. Our server Kameron was exceptional, attentive, knowledgeable, and delightful. She shared fascinating details about the historic buildings and their connection to the hotel, providing us with a booklet recounting the intriguing story of the Tallman family's legacy. Kameron also recommended the Blue Wings with a sweet-spicy Asian glaze as an appetizer. Without a doubt, the best chicken wings I have ever tasted! Her suggestion was spot on, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. My husband ordered the Fish & Chips, while I savored the Crispy Chicken Salad. Both dishes prepared to perfection. Our dog Winnie was treated to a generous beef dog patty. An impressive patty that left her a very happy girl. Our experience with Kameron truly made us fall in love with Tallman's. So much so that before leaving, I immediately made a reservation for July. The same courteous gentleman who initially greeted us was there to assist with this, offering to reserve a dinner reservation for the evening we arrive. He even offered to show us one of their dog-friendly Main Street Suites. The suite was absolutely stunning. The hospitality we received throughout our visit was exemplary. I am now more excited about our upcoming stay at Tallman's than even our planned trip to the beach house in Fort Bragg. Every member of the staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Blue Wing Saloon and the Tallman Hotel to anyone seeking outstanding service, exceptional food, and drinks!

We ordered pasta dishes (the Alfredo and the ravioli with white sauce), and both sauces were extremely bland. They were watery, almost milk-like, and had virtually no flavor. It was really surprising because this restaurant used to be known for its great food. We didn't say anything while we were there because it was only about 30 minutes before closing, and we didn't want to be those customers or inconvenience the staff. We simply paid our bill and left. Since the new ownership, it's clear that something has changed. Whether it's the menu, ingredients, or chef, the heart of this place doesn't seem to be the same anymore. It's disappointing because this used to be one of our go-to spots. I hope the new owners take customer feedback to heart and make improvements, because we'd love to see Blue Wing return to what made it so special.
