Where do you get the Best fish and chips? A tiny hole in the wall down by the water, of course!. The menu is mostly seafood, of course, but they also have some non-seafood items as well.. Nothing fancy at all. All of the seating is outdoors, it is covered, and they have plenty of heaters to keep you warm on cold days or nights. (this *is* Fort Bragg, after all...... ). You order and pay at the window, they call your number when your food is ready, you pick up your silverware, napkins, condiments at the table right next to where you pick up your food, you sit down and you enjoy! I started with a cup of their family recipe, clam chowder. It was a thick chowder, not overly creamy, but it was still very good. lots of goodies, and the clams were *yuuuuuuuge!!!*. I also ordered the fish and chips. *4* very decent sized pieces of rock cod, on a bed of steak fries The fish was wonderfully crunchy on the outside, moist, and tender on the inside. . The chips were also crisp on the outside, and tender on the inside. I was only going to eat two pieces of the fish, and take the other two back to my room, but it was so good, I had to go for the third piece. The remaining piece of fish and about half the chips, came back to my room, and they reheated up wonderfully the next morning. For all I got, the price was good. An amazing meal. Thanks.
We are back again this year. Happy to see some of our favorite restaurant spots are still here. We arrived into town last night. We have been looking forward to their fish and chips. So we stopped by for dinner after checking into our hotel. We got fish, fries, shrimp and fries. We shared them all. So very good! Next time we want to try the soups. Before we left we ordered deep fried snickers, deep fried milky way and hot chocolate to go. Sad they didn't have deep fried oreos this time. They also had deep fried cheese cake.
Order at window and find your own seat. You can pick up your order once your beeper vibrates. Good selection of beers on tap. Self station for Tartar Sauce Fish and chips had a good fish flavor, the food came out steaming hot, and love the batter. Personally by the end of the meal you start to feel sick from how much fried food you've consumed. But I also ordered fried fish, shrimp and those both came with fries. They give you a good portion of fries. The fries are good, nice flavor and crisp. The fried shrimp were huge and sweet, would definitely get again. I would not get the Clam Chowder again, I appreciate the huge pieces of Clams, but overall there is a unique taste to the chowder, it's not bad but no comparison to their fried Fish & Shrimp. Love the views, we went in the evening so they had a few warmers on closer to where you order and a custom wood burning fire pit on the water. It was originally a metal tank used for processing fish guts, converted it into a fire pit to burn wood. We saw a few boats go by and had a nice view of the bridge above. Awesome views and food for the price.
Had great reviews but I can't fully agree. I think this is a great place to hang with friends and drink the afternoon away. Lots of space. The bikers were here the day we tried. Lots of slurring words were being flung around. The service was super slow. Our food took forever to come out for 2 clam chowders and an order of onion rings. The rings were cold. This was not my fav chowder. I will say if you want whole clams and lots of them this is for you. It was a bit on the salty side and the color a grayish vs creamy white. I saw the fish and chips that others had and they looked amazing. I will try that next time I come back. And I will come back.
Friendly service, and really fun river side setting. I ordered the fish and chips. The fry on the fish was good and crispy, but the fish itself lacked flavor. I also ordered the clam chowder, which I did not like, except for the fact that it had such large clams in it. I ate all of the clams, and I enjoyed those, but the flavor and the texture of the clown chowder were not to my liking. They don't seem to use any milk or cream in the chowder. Rather, it seems thickened by the potatoes. And I just didn't like the overall flavor with all the herbs in it. Would skip both of those items next time and order the shrimp and chips, which looked excellent, as several people seated near me had ordered them.
Sea Pal Cove came highly recommended from a friend of mine, so I had to see what the hype was about! My boyfriend and I ordered the prawn and chips, fish and chips, and clam chowder. The clam chowder isn't super creamy (not to say it's watery), but it's a bit different from other places. Other reviews also remark on this, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. There's also whole clams inside it, which is amazing! The prawns in the prawn and chips were HUGE. I love that there's a self serve condiments bar for you to load up on vinegar, tartar sauce, and ketchup. Everything here is fried so well and is piping hot. There's generous portions, amazing food, and decent pricing here. What's not to like?
Saw the reviews on this place and had to come try it. Ordered the fish and chips and clam chowder. Fish and chips: the batter is really good and crunchy!!! This probably takes the show here over all. Really good! Clam Chowder: This is really upsetting. Not your regular white savory sauce. This was more like a herbal clam chowder... the taste of herbs are overpowering. not worth the try in my opinion and probably on the bottom of my list of clam chowders. I've had chowder from Seattle, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Bodega etc. Service: Was good!! Only thing was I was told there were beer cans to go, but unfortunately after paying they were all non alcoholic and the person helping me did not know. I had to take beer on draft.. decided to change my order from "take out" to "dine in" and notified the same person. Food came in a to go bag!! Would probably only come back for the fish and chips... nothing more but may not especially when there are other top contenders around. Minus star for clam chowder and minus one for service hiccups
I really enjoyed coming here during my trip to Mendocino. I was in the mood for some fresh seafood and knew this was the place to go based off reviews. The fish and chips were incredibly crispy but I do wish it had some seasoning. I can't recommend the clam chowder enough, it was unbelievable. I liked that there was plenty of seating and there was a small bonfire going on to keep us all warm. I also appreciated that they had to friendly menu items.
LOVE that their clam chowder is gluten free (GF) AND the clams are the biggest I've ever seen!!! Hubby got the fish sandwich and I honestly DO NOT agree with people saying the fish and batter have no taste, it's delicious and the fish is so fresh and stands alone!! A little of malt vinegar and tartar sauce makes it outta this world!!!

The team at Sea Pal Cove invited me in to sample their Valentine's Day special, and let me tell you, they absolutely knocked it out of the park. They're offering a Valentine's meal for two that includes Shrimp Scampi , a calamari appetizer served with their famous chipotle dipping sauce, garlic bread, cheesecake, and two drinks all for $50. Yes, fifty dollars. Add in some of the best views in town, and you're already winning before the first bite. Now, if you know me, you know I don't play small when it comes to food. I brought along my friend Johnny Ramey, who knows his way around a plate as well as anyone I trust. Portion size alone left us both full, but more importantly, every dish delivered on flavor. The shrimp scampi was rich and satisfying, the calamari was perfectly cooked, and that chipotle sauce deserves its own fan club. Dessert sealed the deal, and the drinks paired nicely with a view that reminds you why we live here. Great food, generous portions, fair pricing, and a setting that does half the talking for you. If you're looking for a Valentine's dinner that feels special without feeling overpriced or pretentious, Sea Pal Cove nailed it. This is one of those meals that reminds you how lucky we are to have spots like this right in our own harbor.
Best lunch Of the summer!!!! I loved sitting on the dock, watching the harbor nature life- birds, a seal, seagulls fighting, a gorgeous pelican swoop by. The pretty water... And the food- great clam chowder, loved the Cole slaw, fish and chips, and fish sandwich! Bathrooms! Parking out front. I'd come back and bring my whole family.
Stopped on Fort Bragg while on vacation and went to Sea Pal Cove with my wife for dinner. This place has been on my radar for a while as I heard they have the best fish and chips on the Mendocino Coast. It's right on the Noyo Harbor, so you can enjoy the view around the area. We got an order of fish and chips as well as prawns and chips to share. So crispy on the outside and fried perfect. Tasting the freshness of the fish and prawns makes me really appreciate the hard work fishermen put in for that daily catch. I can see what the fuss is all about. The fries were nice and crispy with good seasoning. The clam chowder was delicious, but was a little on the lukewarm side. Would've been much better if it was warmer, but still good. The fried cheesecake caught our eye, so we decided to try that. Unfortunately, we weren't really feeling it. There was too much batter around the cheesecake and tough to break through. The cheesecake inside was okay, but this wasn't for us. Outside of the Fish/Prawns and Chips which were excellent, it wasn't all perfect and could have been just a fluke with the miss on the chowder and cheesecake. But overall, I enjoyed the experience of dining at the Harbor and taking in the atmosphere. Might come back in a few days, who knows?
I came here soley for the fish & chips. It's not usually my go to, but this was hands down the best I've ever had. It was so crispy and the fish was delicious. The clam chowder was also delicious. Their outdoor seating is great. The views are beautiful and there's a good chance you'll see some seals.
Reviews are largely positive. Many highlight the fresh fish and chips, generous portions, and harbor-side seating. Staff are generally friendly.

The fish n chips were the best I have ever had... we drove in from Sacramento, hungry....my uncle had recommended Sea Pal.. omg, this place did not disappoint for lunch, so later I went back for dinner... a bowl of clam chowder, fries and onion rings... they were still so delicious, that we went back the next day so that I could lunch before I left to go back to Sac. Ended up having the prawns and chips that were also amazing. The one thing I wanted to say was a Rose a gentleman named Frank, who was so friendly. Very welcoming. Thank you for hiring him!!!! I will be returning, but next time I'll be bringing all my family with me so they can experience the experience that I experienced read more

The food was good, not amazing. You do get a very generous amount of fish with your chips, which are not steak fries which was kind of disappointing. The clam chowder was very clam rich which is good, I would prefer a bit more creamy though. The plastic wear and condiments could have been stocked better. read more
Another great recommendation from a friend! The fish and chips and clam chowder were the stars of the meal. As we waited for our food, it was fun to watch a fishing tour boat dock. Fishermen filleted their catches of the day and fed scraps to the waiting, barking seals and hovering seagulls. Luckily, the seagulls didn't go for our food. The chowder was yummy and unique as it didn't seem to have too much cream, which I liked. It was still thick but not heavy, and the large clam chunks were incredibly tender. The fish and chips came with four good-sized chunks of flaky fish, and the batter was crispy though could be more airy. The fries were well-seasoned. The fried mushrooms tasted like what you'd expect and came with this yummy aioli that we used for our fries. The cioppino was too chunky on the tomatoes for my liking, but the prawns were big and juicy. Overall, I'd highly recommend Sea Pal Cove! read more

A FAVORITE fish and chips spot in Fort Bragg area. We've done our tasting around town and we have landed on this being one of our favorites. Great location over looking the harbor. Despite the terrible wind, we huddled up under the over hangs. The Cioppino was decent, but not a wine base, they do a tomato base, so it's different than traditional cioppino. Overall, excellent fish and chips! Will be back every time we visit. read more

Sea Pal cove was our highlight of our Mendocino Trip! My boyfriend and I REALLY enjoyed their fish and chips. Im typically not a fish and chips person, but this really was the best I've ever had. The clam chowder was pretty good as well if you are in the mood for solid clam chowder, although it's not my ultimate favorite, I would definitely have it again! The service was pretty fast, and the restaurant itself was on the dock, and you definitely could tell they catch their seafood fresh around the area! I would say this was the highlight of our Mendocino staycation! read more

okay, not going to lie - I'm not a big fan of fish and chips, but this place totally won me over! The rock cod was fresh and delicate with a light, crisp coating that added just the right amount of crunch. Each piece had more fish than batter also, much appreciated. Best of all, it wasn't greasy or heavy! As for the clam chowder, it wasn't exactly my preferred flavor profile in all honesty. Was hoping for that creamy richness found in a usual chowder, but the broth leaned more towards a thick stew. Not bad by any means, just not for me. That being said, it had generous, whole pieces of clam - that part was delicious! We were lucky enough to snag seats by the water and watched seals swim by during our meal - such a memorable experience! Heads up, it's all outdoor seating, so be sure keep an eye out for all the lingering seagulls in the area. They have a small parking lot in front. Line took about 20 min to order, but everyone was friendly and helpful. Cool vibes with delicious food, don't miss out when visiting the town :) read more
Fantastic fish and shrimp spot that has plenty of outdoor seating with fire pits. It opens up right onto the water and is a perfect place for gathering. There are picnic tables as well as large round tables to accommodate parties of 6-8 people. Also, dog friendly! Out of the prawns, the fish, and the chowder, the prawns were our favorite! That's not to say that the fish and the chowder didn't hold their own. The prawns were nicely seasoned and slightly salty. The fish was fresh and flaky. It came with several lemon slices, which we really enjoyed. For the clam chowder make sure you are aware that it has whole pieces of clam! No, seriously, half of the chowder is full of clams. It had a really great taste and did not feel heavy alongside the potatoes. Service is great! We had several questions on what would be recommended for myself and my husband. They recommended the prawns and adding three pieces of fish with the chowder. It really was the perfect amount of food. We left feeling full, but not hurting. We will likely stop here again on our three day trip in Mendocino. read more

I would actually give this place a 3-1/2 Stars. The fish from the fish n chips was Outstanding. That is about the only good thing. The chips/fries were just okay. The tables, the one we had was wood were very dirty. The tartar sauce condiment area was also really dirty. We also got smoked out from the wood fire pit. I would recommend to try one of the other fish n chip places down at the harbor. We saw another one with a lot of people. This is from a Yelp Elite for the past 9 years. Came here on a trip to Fort Bragg (first time for both the beautiful city and the restaurant) and it did not disappoint! My family and I came here twice for dinner because we loved it. All seating is outside, they have some covered spots but plenty of seats, you are right by the water and have a beautiful view, and it feels great to have a drink in their gorgeous weather. The food is wonderful and tastes so fresh. We trjed the fish and chips, prawn and chips, fish sandwich, clam chowder bread bowl, and cioppino bowl. The best thing we tried was the prawns and chips and fish sandwich! So so good! They have a great selection of beers and ciders too, my favorite was the original apple cider. Staff were super nice and the food comes out quick! The next time I'm in Fort Bragg I'll definitely be here again. read more

Food was good. Very tasty and fresh. Only place that is open late too. We also had the clam chowder and it was very good and flavorful. We went at night and it was lonely but it was also very cold. The location is cute and near the harbor. Service was mixed. Some people were friendly and others very serious and not friendly. Overall, the food was good. read more

Sounds odd but best tarter sauce! So good and fresh! Fried cheesecake is amazing with the strawberry yummyness! Fish sandwich was bomb - added some tartar to to! Cioppino was great with uniques flavor and big fresh shrimp! Clam chowder wasn't as creamy as we would like but the big fresh clams made up for it! Added a little salt, pepper and hot sauce!! Fries were fresh and on point! Overall super good and would try the fish and chips when we go back! And order the e fish sandwich with coleslaw that would be taking it up a notch! Love that they are open later and have a fire pit and heaters! Good size on beers and cider also! read more

Yes, we were there 5 days ago and the outdoor seating was open. Staff were wearing masks and gloves. It was the first experience eating out since March and I felt secure that they took all precautions.
