Last night was punctuated by a couple of firsts for me. I attended Fort Bragg's First Friday celebration for the first time in well more than a decade . I also ventured into Sip Wine Bar which was definitely amazing, I've been kicking myself for not going sooner. It is a cozy spot and made me feel comfortable the moment I walked in where I was greeted by the proprietor. There is ample seating and also an awesome window to people watch, a must on Laurel Street. The wine selection is awesome with a mix of mouth watering local and world vintages along with beers and sparkling ciders. Everything was fabulous, the pours generous and the experience unmatched.

Thank you, Mahkayla! Lovely spot here in Ft Bragg. You greeted us right when we walked in and you gave us the lay of the land. Nice concept with self serve wine dispenser. Quaint and relaxing. The soft jazz music playing in the background added to the ambiance. We will be back as this is a nice find.

    Tasting of red and white.

Really cute place with variety of local wines. Super fun to do tasting of different wines in same place. Service was really good.

I licked all the garlic off of the shell. inside seating. there's also outdoor seating which is under a tent, a bit humid butyou get used to it. the train runs through maybe every 15 mins and it is crazy loud. it commands the whole room's attention, everyone must look at it, because you just cant talk over that loudness. it was fun to wave to some passsngers. the semifreddo dessert was wonderful! a frozen mouse, chocolate flavor with strawberries on top.

Into everyone's life a little fancy restaurant must fall…read more... After a walk along the coast and an appetite has been acquired, it is a short walk to this small fancy restaurant just off of downtown. Upon entering, there is a small initimate bar, dining area and a patio out back for "al fresco" dining. By San Francisco Bay Area city standards, it is not fancy in the luxurious, posh sense, but here, seafood is the star! First up, Oysters Rockefeller appetizer. Frankly, they could have been prepared any which way - for the oyster fan, they were fresh and delicious! The salmon was good (although a bit overcooked, the waiter didn't ask how it should be cooked). The salmon came perched atop garlic mashed potatoes that were out of this world! The scallops were so fresh and tasty and perfectly paired with polenta and farm fresh asparagus! They also feature Northern California (as in North of the San Francisco Bay Area) wines and beers, something not readily found outside Mendocino County. There was no room for dessert, guaranteeing a trip back to get the full-on meal experience! The environment is convivial. On a late May early evening, there were graduation dinners out back on the patio, an intimate shared dinner with drinks going on in the bar, and ladies who dine in the corner. Another unique aspect of this restaurant is that it is very close (as in feet away) from the Mendocino Skunk train. Diners will experience the train horn, warning signals and small tremors caused by the train chugging by at any time during their meal. There are also people working out on pedal bikes (yes *on* the tracks) to get exercise on their tour of the redwoods in Mendocino! It added to the ambience as an "only in Fort Bragg" experience! We had a great meal and will be going back!

We had dinner at Petite Percebes/Good Bones on a trip to the Mendocino area in April…read more The service was pleasant and friendly, the space felt comfortable with both tables and couches (no live music at the time we visited), and everything we ate was delicious and nicely presented! Our favorites were: + Broiled oysters with bone marrow butter, Parmesan crema, and breadcrumb: although I'm not usually a huge fan of oysters, I did enjoy these particular ones! + Lemon cream pie with tangerine, lemon curd, brown butter graham, citrus marigold Chantilly: we split one slice of this pie, but I could've eaten a few more slices of the pie by myself (if my stomach had space left). Perfect ending to the meal. + Primavera panisse: crispy chickpea fritters topped with a variety of greens and flower petals. + Yuzu marigold kombucha (Wilder x Petite Percebes collaboration): this was a refreshing, lightly sweet complement to the heavier dishes of the meal. We also tried the cassoulet (which had roasted chicken thigh, Roundman's garlic sausage, pork belly, Heirloom beans - a heartier meaty dish); and the potato chowder with oyster mushrooms, spring greens, and wild nettle pistou (we loved the mushrooms in it). This spot is worth stopping by!

Inside was huge! Giant bar, tons of tables for dining, along with a stage where it looked like they hosted live music! We ordered our meals up at the front counter and took a seat in the dining area. I ordered a Golden State Mighty Dry cider and their grilled cheese sandwich with added caramelized onions and mushrooms. We were the only people inside, but food came out quick. Everyone was a huge fan of their meals. I loved my sandwich, the bread was absolutely delicious. Also was a huge fan of those mushrooms they used! We ended up leaving with a fresh baked loaf of bread when we left too for home. Service was great, food was on point, and loved the vibe they had going. Would love to come back to see some music one of these days.

They did a great job remodeling, although when you first walk. Up to the building it was not obvious to me to go upstairs. We came at 11 on a Saturday, we were the first ones to sit in the bar. Staff were friendly and service was prompt. Our Bloody Marys were tasty. We had the cerviche which came with what seems like homemade chips- it tasted fresh. We also had the grilled cod tacos with black beans and rice which were good. I'd go back!

While the new decor is nice, it became painfully clear that changing the atmosphere means little without competent management and staff who prioritize customer safety. Our expensive dinner was completely ruined by a loud, heated argument between a man and a woman seated near us. The situation rapidly escalated, drawing in other bar patrons with foul language and physical confrontation including a man pushing his wife out the door. The bartender tried to intervene and wanted to call the police, but the manager overruled him. One man at the center of the dispute stayed seated while chaos unfolded around him. When we notified the manager, who was sitting nearby watching the entire incident she refused to contact the police, dismissing it as a matter of "private property." We suspect this inaction was because the disruptive, intoxicated patrons were staying in the restaurant's on-site hotel rooms, with profits apparently taking priority over patron safety. I reminded her that restaurants have the right (and responsibility) to refuse service and remove disruptive guests. Servers ultimately had to escort the intoxicated patrons out, unnecessarily putting both staff and other customers at risk. Restaurants have a legal duty of care under premises liability laws to protect patrons from foreseeable harm, including violence from other customers. Failing to intervene in a clearly escalating situation involving intoxicated individuals, overruling calls for police assistance, and allowing threats to continue outside the premises raises serious safety and potential liability concerns especially in a family-friendly, high-end establishment. As we left, the ejected men were waiting just outside, openly planning what they would do to the other individual when he exited. We have never experienced anything like this in a restaurant charging premium prices, including $12 for a simple loaf of bread and butter. The food was good and our server worked hard, but the disturbing incident, the manager's complete lack of concern for customer safety, and the unsafe environment have cost this establishment our business after more than three decades of loyalty.
