Popped into Fort Bragg on a spur-of-the-moment fishing trip with some friends and happened to stumble across Milano. Glad we did! The bartenders were friendly, the atmosphere was great, and the outdoor patio was a perfect spot to kick back. We spent some time watching soccer on the TVs, enjoying a couple of hot dogs, and soaking up the relaxed vibe. Definitely a fun and unexpected stop while we were in town. read more

What a fun historic bar! Just because it's a 'dive bar' doesn't mean it isn't clean and safe . . . ladies are welcome and comfortable too! Josh makes DELICOUS drinks! It was an extremely wet Tuesday in Fort Bragg, as I was in the midst of my short vacation from the Bay Area. In the morning I had combed the entirety of the Ten Mile Beach at McKerrisher, and after a brief stop at my Airbnb, trudged back into town (as part of a day that would include over 48k steps), had some pizza, then found myself on Oak Street craving both beers and company. The Milano seems to conform with what a dive bar is supposed to be - no food, no draft beer and minimal entertainment (it does seem to have cornhole and a limited arcade - but they're really not central to the experience). An overhead television featured some east coast men's college basketball game. For a dive bar, the bathroom exceeded expectations - without the adjustment I'd describe it as 'adequate'. The point of the place is the conversation - it was frank without being ridiculous. If one has virgin ears, don't expect them to stay that way, as about 30% of the words were swears, but you know what? That's life - if you don't want swears you can move to Utah and see how that goes. They may swear quite a bit at the Milano, but they were actually interested in listening to me, even tolerating my relatively weak defense of Coldplay. Til next time, cheers Milano! read more

We were looking for a place to listen to some live music while visiting fort Bragg. My wife called around looking for live music. After the call to Milano she said, they don't have live music but the guy that answered the phone made it sound like a fun place so we checked it out. Awesome little dive bar, we met some great people and played some great music on the touch tunes. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because when I went to buy beer, the bartender ignored me, when wife went she was back in a minute or 2. I mean I would ignore me too but it still pissed me off! either way, great dive bar! We will be back! read more

We are visiting in town looking for a bar to go to and we found this little gem. It is definitely kind of hidden away off the main trail. We were able to walk there from where we were staying. And we walked and it looked like a little house. We entered the backyard and went in to the main bar area. Super cute. The bartender was marvelous. She was amazing. She was feisty and was able to keep everybody in line when they were trying to swerve. Her drinks were good. She wasn't sure on the cocktail I ordered but she looked up how to make it and it was pretty tasty. They have a pool table and another room and the outside patio looked pretty cool too. read more

As the Taking Heads say, 'this must be the place' - indeed, this is the place to feel welcomed and comfortable. It's easy to miss and deceptively listed as a Hotel... which it's not. There is actually a fair selection of 'dive bars' in Fort Bragg and this is my favorite. Note - I say dive bar with affection! Fantastic place to get together with old friends or perhaps meet new friends. They have a great outdoor patio area, a decent selection of draft beer and quirky old bar signs to admire. Convenient to a bunch of dining options, including La Bamba, the local movie theatre and misc local shops. read more

For years living in this town, I drove past Milano's. From the outside it's unassuming... you almost can't tell it's a bar, except for the sign! This weekend I got a chance to step inside, and boy am I glad that I did! The bartenders were fantastic! I feel kind of embarrassed that I don't remember the lady's name, but the bartender when my friend and I arrived was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Definitely a dive bar -- but puts you immediately in mind of Cheers! I watched her and Jake, the night time bartender, greet every person that walked in the door like they were best buds. They were both friendly, experienced, and the first sip made me realize what weak sauce drinks I've been getting used to recently! There's a patio out back with a TV to hang with your friends and watch the game. There's also a back room inside that I was lucky enough to score for the evening! (A scheduled gig for the night got cancelled last minute - ACK! - but Jake & the owner were kind enough to let us use Milano's back room instead!) My friends and I sang and partied until sometime after midnight (with me gradually dropping the volume to respect the neighbors, I promise!) and had an AMAZING night. I was so glad when a new friend said that the combination of my gig and "the best bar in Fort Bragg" had totally made her night! I'm SO glad I finally got the chance to step inside... This is an amazing little gem I was directed to by my sister. This bar is like "Cheers" Where everyone knows your name. I was welcomed by everyone. The owner Mark was very friendly. I was invited to their Thanksgiving delicious feast where the locals brought food. Enjoyed JD's tantalizing picked beets. Yes this is a bar for the locals but they know how to make an outsider feel at home. Love you guys ! This is a must go visit when in Fort Bragg's. read more

...It was my birthday and a group of my friends from Fort Bragg decided to go celebrate. I was born and raised in FB and it pains me to see such poor hospitality service. I currently do not live in Fort Bragg but some of my friends and family do. I have not been out on the town for years. Anyways the bar tender she works downstairs for a certain reason and has a terrible attitude. She can make good drinks and looks good but there is something wrong about why she is working with such negative service. This is the last thing this town needs in order to survive with the setbacks it has had. She was very rude. I think her name was Avalane. I will say that she can make good drinks on the other hand if I wa in charge I would unfortunately let her go. This happened about 7 weeks ago. It is not nice to disrespect the FB locals at all so please stop working downstairs in the hotel. read more
