    Stunning view from the porch

We were referred to visit here by A woman we had met shipping in Fort Bragg. This place was amazing. Even more so the incredibly witty, kind, & talented owner Bobby & the lovely Karen. We had such a blast listening to stories & even got to enjoy some BEAUTIFUL piano playing. He is so gracious & humble. We felt like family instantly & I will always visit when we are able to get up this way. THANK YOU FOR SUCH AN AMAZING TIME!!!! #EVENWITHOUTTHETURNOUTGEAR :) CAMI & GABE!

Beacon Light of the Sea is a must do. The way a bar should be operated. Great conversation and a cocktail. Who could ask for more.

Ask the Community - Beacon Light by the Sea

Is this establishment still in business? Is RD ok?

My friend and I were just there this past weekend (4/29/23), and I had a long conversation with RD. He told me that he had some medical issues recently, but he seemed to be doing well, and was still playing his piano.

Solid Japanese style restaurant serving beautifully curated and thoughtfully prepared small dishes…read morein a seemingly unexpected location on the Mendocino / Sonoma coast ! We recently relocated to Sonoma county (The Sea Ranch) from Silicon Valley (Menlo Park) and have had some nice meals along the coast since we moved here FT (Harbor House, Ledford House etc) but this little spot is a real gem. Friends recommended it so we had a double date night and filled the table with all sorts of goodies. Great evening and food. Highly recommended. Small, simply situated on a very quiet street in Point Arena. A few doors down from a decent locally sourced weed shop (also worth a visit BTW), and a local fish monger (Point Arena is a commercial fishing port) and solid local bakery (Pelican), this excellent restaurant serves up a variety of rotating locally sourced small plates and yakatori style grilled meats and veggies as well as some raw fish and stews as well. Highlights were the sashimi, the fish roe on rice, the grilled pork belly, the grilled cabbage salad, the tempura shrooms and the fried chicken oysters as well as the grilled chicken thighs. All excellent. They have a nice selection of saki's as well (we had 2 small bottles to share $20/each) and to close the meal we had the Matcha ice cream with passion fruit ! All in for 4 people including tax and tip $250...which in today's world seemed very fair to me. Great meal and great vibe overall. Chef/owners apparently have strong training and work experience in Japanese settings and fine dining restaurants- which may explain why this place does very simple things so well... Make a reservation on the weekends otherwise you'll miss out or end up eating at the bar. There are certainly worse things to do than that...however, trust me. Visit here and thank me later. Well done Izakaya Gama ! We will be back. This will undoubtedly be on our regular "locals dining out rotation" now. Bravo Izakaya Gama !

Fried, grilled, steamed, raw... not a single miss. We were staying just up the block on a short getaway, and this ended up being one of the most memorable parts of the trip. At one point we were talking about Rintaro in SF, and the chef overheard us--she mentioned he knew the folks there and spoke highly of them. Honestly, after eating here, I think Gama is better, and at a much friendlier price point. Warm atmosphere, great food, and a chef who clearly cares about what they're doing. This place is a win all around.

The views are worth a visit for a glass of fine Mendocino wine at the bar with such a friendly staff. The dinners and appetizers are also amazing. I had crepes with mushrooms that are reminiscent of Paris. I also had the best scallops with cauliflower. I then heard that the chef is from Paris of course. This restaurant is a treat to enjoy. I hope to return soon from the Bay Area. The restaurant is beautiful as well. We also enjoyed great live music on Friday night.

The back room is very casual - it was "seat yourself" so get here early if you want to snag a table by the window(s). The food was mixed - started with one of the specials: "Red & Gold Beet Salad" @ $17 - it was beautiful, but the white truffle vinaigrette was flavorless so the salad was bland. Tried another special: "Steak Diane" @ $40 - ordered medium-rare and it was way undercooked. Couldn't bring myself to eat it. The Grilled Rib Eye was good - was also on the rare side but husband doesn't mind. It was a treat to have some live music (Kendall Dean) - she was super. Servers were friendly. Was nice, but wasn't impressed with the room, and just bummed the meat wasn't cooked to order.

We had dinner at Petite Percebes/Good Bones on a trip to the Mendocino area in April…read more The service was pleasant and friendly, the space felt comfortable with both tables and couches (no live music at the time we visited), and everything we ate was delicious and nicely presented! Our favorites were: + Broiled oysters with bone marrow butter, Parmesan crema, and breadcrumb: although I'm not usually a huge fan of oysters, I did enjoy these particular ones! + Lemon cream pie with tangerine, lemon curd, brown butter graham, citrus marigold Chantilly: we split one slice of this pie, but I could've eaten a few more slices of the pie by myself (if my stomach had space left). Perfect ending to the meal. + Primavera panisse: crispy chickpea fritters topped with a variety of greens and flower petals. + Yuzu marigold kombucha (Wilder x Petite Percebes collaboration): this was a refreshing, lightly sweet complement to the heavier dishes of the meal. We also tried the cassoulet (which had roasted chicken thigh, Roundman's garlic sausage, pork belly, Heirloom beans - a heartier meaty dish); and the potato chowder with oyster mushrooms, spring greens, and wild nettle pistou (we loved the mushrooms in it). This spot is worth stopping by!

Loved visiting Good Bones! A hidden little gem among the coast…read more I visited on a Sunday morning with a small group of friends for a quick bite to eat before we headed off for a hike. Inside was huge! Giant bar, tons of tables for dining, along with a stage where it looked like they hosted live music! We ordered our meals up at the front counter and took a seat in the dining area. I ordered a Golden State Mighty Dry cider and their grilled cheese sandwich with added caramelized onions and mushrooms. We were the only people inside, but food came out quick. Everyone was a huge fan of their meals. I loved my sandwich, the bread was absolutely delicious. Also was a huge fan of those mushrooms they used! We ended up leaving with a fresh baked loaf of bread when we left too for home. Service was great, food was on point, and loved the vibe they had going. Would love to come back to see some music one of these days.
