12 years ago we came here on our honeymoon. The tasting experience was ok as the guy doing the tasting was not very friendly or wanting to answer questions about the wine. We ended up not buying any. The views were amazing and our chat with Sarah the owne,r as we were leaving, and her dog was the highlight! Fast forward 12 years later we decided to visit again and the tasting experience was amazing!!! Annie was personable and knowledgeable. It was like sharing wine with a friend! We ended up buying 6 bottles and sharing one of the whites with our sammies on the deck! A delightful way to spend an afternoon. SO glad we decided to return.

What a fantastic winery!!! If you can survive the roads I highly recommend making the trek!! The views are perfect, the wine is enjoyable and the grounds are not what you'd think when visiting an Oceanside winery! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The prices were right! But let's be honest.. Sitting in an Adirondack enjoying the sounds of the ocean sipping something crisp and cold really can't compare!! I look forward to making this a must when I make my way up to the area again!!

Great patio with umbrellas and good music.

So maybe they don't allow dogs or kids, but we didn't have either with us and we loved it! Amazing views, lovely service, chill vibe and good wine. Highly recommend! Just follow their rules and you will enjoy it too!

The view from this winery was amazing! Stunning cliffside winery along the ocean. The indoor area has a charming rustic vibe. The wine tasting was also super affordable ($25 a person) and you're allowed to take the wine outside and sit. I never wanted to leave and just wanted to stare at the view all day! I bet it would be even prettier during sunset.

We drove 7+ hours from the Central Valley to the northern coast for the weekend and this was one of our must-stop destinations. We didn't have ideal weather as it was foggy and chilly but the winery was still worth the stop. The service was wonderful and the owners were so kind. Their dog, Sam, was so cute! The wine options were great and we took extra time to enjoy a bottle before heading out. Highly recommend stopping.

Wine snobs, pet owners, and parents beware! Average wine, animals not allowed, and children "discouraged". My 1 year old niece was kicked out by the owner due to a short amount of crying. Good views if it wasn't for the fog. This place seems like it has so much more potential.

This is a spectacular winery. The views are just as everyone else has noted. Really stunning location and gorgeous views of the ocean. The service is also excellent. Annie took great care of us, was warm and friendly, and really appreciated the wine maker's vision. The wine was good, but not my favorite style. The red blend I got a glass of started out tasting a little thin but really opened up and ended up being pretty nice. We arrived at the open so it may have just needed a little more time. We will definitely come back.

This was a great experience. My fiancé and I both aren't wine people (but would love to be LOL). This was our first time going wine tasting, and we did mention that to them. They were so gracious and welcoming. I actually did enjoy a couple wines we tasted. The views were phenomenal. The service was wonderful, the lady serving us was so sweet explaining each wine with a little story. We were able to walk around and check out the views as we were tasting. We came by on Sunday as part of our anniversary celebration, decided to try something new- and so glad we did. We would definitely come back :)

The rating is 100% for the view. Just go. But wine. Buy a tasting. A shirt. Anything. There are tons of seats. Tons of the most beautiful scenery you have ever seen. Don't question whether you should go. Just go. (Warning: there is one unisex gender neutral bathroom. So expect lines if you gotta go!) The wine was decent. But did I mention the views are breathtaking?

It was a rainy and cloudy day on the Mendocino coast, so we decided to take a drive up the coast. Several times we thought about turning around, but curiosity about what was around the next corner kept us going. We came around the next corner and here sat Pacific Star Winery, along Hwy 1, sitting alone. We are always up for a winery and wine tasting, so we made our way down to the winery, they had the wine tasting set up outside, and there is an inside little store and counter. A downpour of rain had just passed and the owners or staff were wiping everything down for the guests. We stepped up to the table and on this day they were pouring 5 wines, and the tasting was $14, which is extremely reasonable. It was fairly busy which was surprising for middle of the week. My only wish is that either the owners or staff, I'm not sure who they were, would have talked about their wines more. They really just poured and left you to it, a tad disappointing. We enjoyed all of the wines we tasted, two were favorites and we purchased the bottles. Bottle prices vary from $28 to $45. Some guests were just buying a bottle finding tables and enjoying a lovely picnic with their wine. The views from this winery are unbelievable. We sat at a table and had cheese and crackers and then walked down to the cliffs where they have fencing up and lots of Adirondack chairs and wine barrels to sit and enjoy your wine with stunning ocean and coastal views.

Absolutely a beautiful day on the coast.

This winery is located right on the coast! When visiting Fort Bragg, it is well worth the scenic drive (about 12 miles north) to sip wine while sitting on a coastal bluff. There are plenty of chairs, so you can settle into one of the most beautiful spots, sip your wine and relax. Also, it is interesting to note that there is a fault that runs directly under the winery, and connects to the San Andreas fault system 12 miles out to sea. To commemorate the discovery of the Pacific Star Fault, they make two blends (one white, one red) which they have named "It's My Fault". We opted for the tasting (5 wines for $12). We then selected our favorite and bought a bottle which we took down to the bluff, settled into the Adirondack chairs, and relaxed into the ocean view. We had a wonderful time. Sally, the owner, was very friendly, and spent some time showing us a map of places we should visit as we made our way up north on our vacation. Some notes: The winery is open Thurs-Sun 12:00 - 5:00. Dogs are not allowed in the wine tasting area (inside or out) and are not allowed on the bluffs. There is a dog walking field near the parking area, so there is a place you can walk your dog.

I see the previous answer about dogs being allowed in a field. Can our small dog sit with us by the Adirondack chairs?

We arrived on a Sunday morning at 10:30 am. Winery proprietor Andrew did a terrific job communicating with us before our arrival to make sure we could find the winery which is tucked away a little ways off the main road. We met Andrew and his wife Rosie when we arrived and Andrew showed us where to park under a nice shady oak tree. It helped dissipate the 90 degree heat later in the day. We got set up and then headed out for Shelter Cove - a windy, steep, 10 mile, 35 minute drive down to the ocean. Andrew gave us helpful advice about using our low gears as we drove down the steep road so we wouldn't heat up our brakes. He also gave us advice about places to eat for lunch (we ended up eating at Gyppo Ale Mill - best fried cod I've ever had) and told us about sights we might enjoy seeing, including the black sands beach. We relaxed when we got back to the winery afterwards and then at 4:30 we did a scheduled wine tasting. Rosie was our host. Andrew is normally also there for the wine tasting, but could not join us because he was processing a new batch of grapes. The experience also included a very nice charcuterie board. Rosie did a great job sharing numerous wines with us and telling us a little bit about each of them. They try to stay faithful to only using grapes from the Humboldt area. We also had the very fine pleasure of meeting a couple of fellow Harvest Host guests Jeff and Patti during the wine tasting. After the wine tasting was over, we bought several bottles of wine and a tasty dark chocolate bar that we had tried as part of the charcuterie board. Rosie let us visit with our new friends on their cozy covered patio as we enjoyed a bottle of wine and chocolate that we had just bought. We had a quiet restful night's sleep afterwards under the pitchblack starlit Milky Way sky. Overall great experience. Thank you Andrew and Rosie for sharing your beautiful property and wines with us!
