Had a great visit and wine tasting at beautiful Husch Vineyards, with Ken who was full of fun stories and conversation. They make lots of wonderful wines at great prices and there's no tasting fee. This is how wine tasting should be.

This was the most pleasant wine tasting experience yet!! Located on a beautiful, relaxing vineyard with some of the most authentic wine in California. They had a free tasting menu and were super accommodating- we ended up leaving with 4 bottles of their Zinfandel (truly amazing). If you're in the Mendocino area, definitely make time to stop by and meet their friendly staff and warm & welcoming atmosphere!!!

Enjoying the sunny morning with Non-alcoholic grape juice!

A few years ago a group of us did a wine tasting here and we all loved not only their wine but the juice as well. I have never forgotten that juice! Fast forward to today, currently 32 weeks pregnant and have a two year old, we decided to stop in on our way home from the coast and let our daughter have a tasting of their non alcoholic grape juice and it was the cutest experience! I didn't catch the woman's name who served us but she was so kind and friendly to us! We purchased 6 bottles of juice to bring home. I left feeling like it would be a shame if I didn't give this winery a review that it deserved after the experience we had today. The customer service was a 100/100. Felt more like family the way she treated my daughter and I. Thank you to Husch for the non alcoholic juice option and to giving us a memory I will definitely cherish! Not to mention the little building is so cute and the grounds are well maintained and beautiful!

Excellent tasting experience and very good wines. I was a bit on the fence due to previous reviews commenting about the size of the tasting room and service but couldn't have had a better experience. Cozy ambience, lots of history about Anderson Valley and the winery. Top notch wines at an affordable price.

Casual outdoor wine tasting with some easy-drinking Mendocino wine. Came by on a Friday afternoon to sample the local Mendocino staple, Husch Vineyards. I am typically a red wine (Pinots, Syrahs, Bordeaux blends) kind of gal, but the mid summer heat had me curious to imbibe their white tasting menu. I love that they had a Gewurztraminer (dry German white wine) and Chenin Blanc (a floral/honeyed French white wine)! These are not wines you would typically find in Northern California wine country, and I was excited to see them on the menu! Ended up purchasing a bottle of both (because why not when their prices are so affordable?)! No tasting fee. Simply select the flight you'd like to try and they bring it to the table in a to-go style container so you can do a casual, self guided tasting. Great easy drinking wines that you will find in stores along the coast! I would recommend for anyone passing through Philo and seeking a kid and dog friendly vineyard to visit

Savannah was our server today and very knowledgeable and very descriptive in describing the wines. When you get to pick which ones to taste it's helpful to have someone like her pouring!

Delicious white wines, mediocre reds, and an all-around average wine tasting experience. I absolutely love wine tasting in the Anderson Valley, but tasting at Husch was unfortunately my least favorite tasting experience. I came to Husch after visiting another winery nearby. Husch's estate and tasting room is a lot smaller than many of the other wineries nearby, but I typically enjoy a more intimate wine tasting experience anyways. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted right away. I kind of sat there for a little while until one of the sommeliers finally noticed me. They have a small tasting bar and a few barrels where people were conducting their tastings. One of the ladies brought over a tasting menu and a glass. She wasn't the friendliest of the bunch, but I've encountered much worse. Their bottle prices are extremely reasonable here. It kind of made me question why the prices were so low at first. But after tasting a few of their wines, I was really surprised with the quality of some of them. A tasting consists of 6 wines of your choice. I'm a red wine gal at heart, so I started chose mostly reds. However, I found their red wines to be underwhelming. The real winners here are their white wines. Their Gewurztraminer was incredibly smooth, light, and refreshing. And, their Chenin Blanc... oh my! It was honestly some of the best that I've ever tasted. It was crisp, fruity, and perfect to sip on a warm summer day. I bought a bottle of both to take home with me. Although the white wines were wonderful, the entire tasting experience felt rushed. If there's one thing that you should know about me in regards to wine tasting; NEVER rush me while I'm sipping on my wine. It's like the ultimate slap in the face. I hate when I cannot fully enjoy my wine because I'm being rushed. The lady who assisted me was so impersonal and kept coming back every 5 minutes to see if I was done so that she could hurry up and pour me the next wine. Such a no-no. She started to calm down as I tasted more wines, but the damage had already been done. All in all, their Chenin Blanc and Gewurztraminer are top notch here and a steal for the price. However, because of this experience, I will just resort to buying more of their bottles in store as opposed to at their winery.

Oldest winery in Anderson Valley! You can enjoy your complimentary wine tasting in the converted pony barn from the late 1800's or outside among the flowers, trees & endless rows of grapes! The grounds here are out of a children's story book! It was love at first sight. It's family owned and unpretentious. Feels very different from most wineries in Napa. I love this area of the country and everything feels like it's moving in a slower manner which is so welcoming when you visit from a large city that never sleeps. The ladies who work here are down to earth and it felt like we knew them for years after chatting it up as we got tipsier and tipsier. Open 7 days a week from 10-6!

I loved this adorable little winery! I visited last month and had a great time tasting their wines and enjoying the super cute and whimsical atmosphere. The owner was very friendly and we enjoyed hearing her story about opening the winery! I would love to visit again sometime :)

Stopped by on our way to Mendocino. I first had Husch wines couple years ago and fell in love! Such a cute wine tasting room, you can try 6 wines for free of charge! Recommend to bring lunch or snacks since there's a great picnic area right outside of the tasting room. They provide the self guided map of the vineyards. I love thier white wines, my favorite is Chenin Blanc and Dry Gewurztraminer. Ended up buying one case of whites :)

Maggy Hawk is located in Philo, in beautiful Anderson Valley, across the street from The Madrones (a small compound of guest rooms, a boutique, tasting rooms, and a restaurant). We had a delicious lunch at Wickson, at The Madrones, then crossed the street to meet friends at Maggy Hawk. They have bocce courts and some seating in the front, more seating and a small bar inside the cozy tasting room, and tables and a pizza oven on their back patio. I look forward to returning to do a full tasting, hopefully when they're making pizzas! Cheers and thanks for the warm hospitality!

And towards the northern extreme of the valley are the spectacular vineyards of Roederer Estates and the home of some of the best sparkling wines in Northern California. Situated atop a hill with a commanding view of the vineyards, valley, and surrounding mountains, Roederer has a beautifully modern tasting room and new outdoor patio with abundant seating and umbrellas for shade. On the day we visited it was 81F outside in the sun, but thanks to the natural air conditioning of a Pacific breeze from the coast, it was super comfortable on the deck. Roederer has everything from traditional tastings of various house wines (mixed vintages, estate reserve, and flights) to wines by the glass to bottles if you are in the mood. Prices vary by vintage, but begin around $18 for a glass and go up. Tastings begin at $35. Bottles begin at $40. Members of wine clubs receive an approximate 20% discount on bottles and tastings. In addition to wines, a limited but nicely curated selection of nibbles are available (think Marcona almonds, olives, prosciutto and cheeses, and duck rillettes, but if you're feeling indulgent they also offer a variety of Tzar Nikolai caviar options that can break the bank). We ordered the duck rillettes which were yummy, albeit a very small portion and not house made. Also, they did not come with crackers, which were an additional charge. This was our only gripe, because do people just eat the rillettes straight out of the jar with a knife?!? But that aside, we loved our sparkling wine selection (a bottle of Brut rosé) and the casual luxury of enjoying our bottle on the outside patio during a gorgeous summer afternoon. Service was quick, attentive, knowledgeable, courteous and friendly, but not hovering or overbearing. Perfect balance. Friday afternoon, we decided to venture out toward Philo to explore the vineyards in the area and stop by for some wine tastings. Roederer caught our eye off Hwy 128, so our group of 4 decided to go for a quick glass to enjoy the beautiful view. Enticed by the large door and expansive patio, we walked in to order our wines around 4:25pm. A taller long haired man greeted us with "Hey, sorry we're at full capacity" was our greeting. No hello, no welcome to our estate. I let him know we just stopped by for a glass and were not there for a full tasting. Uninterested, he just repeated that they were at capacity and finished for the day. Their hours state that they close at 5, and rejecting 1 glass of wine at 30 minutes before closing seems absurd and rather lazy to me. Let the photos speak for themselves...half of the interior tables being available, along with half the exterior being available meant full capacity. There are an abundance of family run and established vineyards all throughout the Anderson valley. DO NOT waste your time coming to Roederer Estate.
