Stopped into ZuZu on a Saturday night with no reservation and we were seated pretty quickly. This was our first time dining here and our lovely waiter gave us all the best recommendations and picked an amazing bottle of Albariño for us. My favorite foods were the ZuZu Paella, Chicken Croquetas, and the Banana Tres Leches. The restaurant has such a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for long date nights!

Sad to say that ZuZu didn't really hit the mark. I will say that the atmosphere and vibes were immaculate. The restaurant is located in downtown Napa and it's beautiful. There's a live guitarist across the street playing music, with the street lights and people wandering out (this part was great). Now to the not so great parts: -The ceviche came out first, it was very bland. It had very little seafood and was mostly Jicama (the sweet white root vegetable). The chips were okay. -the paella's rice didn't have those crispy edges. It was all extremely mushy. The amount of seafood was very generous but it was also bland. Most of the flavor came from the lemon and squid ink. -the steak pieces were very flavorful. This was the best part of the meal. However, for $50 I would find this more enjoyable if i had a couple more bites? But, I know as a tapas restaurant the plates would be small (although wasn't expecting it to be this small). Overall, the service was alright. Our server was extremely busy so I can tell they were not as attentive as they wished to be. It did take a long time for somebody to come take our order but that didn't take away from the experience at all. TLDR: come for the vibes not the food

My bf and I made a reservation for the same day weekend easily. We arrived slightly early around 5pm and were seated without a wait as there was no one there. We got to sit upstairs. Ordered Jamon 5/5: this is so good and a great size for a couple to share! It came with two pieces of toaste ( garlic or olive?) Paella 5/5: delicious! It was a seafood and chicken paella. It comes with a lemony sauce that you can mix in. We had it the day after and it still hit so well haha Steak with chimichurri 5/5: im not a big steak person but this was good! The sauce was great. Parking: free lots nearby or street Overall I would come back for a nice date night or a meal with friends/family!

We enjoyed our lunch at Zuzu. This Spanish tapas restaurant has good food and great service. We sat outside and the weather was perfect for a mid-day lunch. The decor was cute and inviting. We ordered the following: Lamb chop: over-cooked but tasted pretty good. It came with Mediterranean bbq sauce (3.5/5) Patatas fritas (4.5/5): very nicely fried and the potatoes were seasoned well but the sauce left some to be desired. It kind of tasted like chipotle in adobo from the can. Flank steak (4.75/5; delicious . Perfectly cooked. Great chimichurri but no jalapeño. Biggest complaint is that the description of this dish wasn't accurate. Lamb tartare (5/5; great seasoning texture and bread. One of my favorite dishes of the meal. Dungeoness crab filo dough special (Tunisian brik pastry- 4.5; amazing egg w runny yolk, lots of crab, green onion good flavor balanced and unique. Queso frito (5/5; great taste and seasoning. Perfectly fried and salad was awesome Drinks: Agave blossom (4/5; pretty strong but nothing phenomenal) and espresso martini (4/5: decent but I've had better.). Overall, we had a very satisfying meal and there were some stand out dishes in our meal.

This place was unfortunately a letdown. I was excited to try ZuZu after seeing positive reviews online, but nothing really matched my expectations onsite. First, we had a wait of about 20 minutes to be seated for dinner, which was reasonable. However, our waiter left us hanging for over 15 minutes before taking our order. It was so hard to flag someone down, and the food also took almost 40 minutes to come out. At this point, we were just so hungry that anything tasted good. The paella was alright, but I wish there were more crispy edges. The portion also said for two, but I honestly felt like I could've eaten the one plate on my own LOL. Overall I didn't feel like the price justified the value.

Our group of 3 dropped by Zuzu around 7pm on a Saturday, and were placed on the waitlist and told to return when we received a text. We walked around downtown and enjoyed looking at the Lighted Festival installations for around 30 minutes until we got a text to check back in. There are actually two entrances to two rooms that are adjacent to eachother, and we were seated alongside the wall across from the bar. The space is dimly lit and cozy - definitely a little tightly packed but still with enough space to have a conversation without needing to shout. We got an assortment of tapas and the Zuzu paella to share - everything was excellent, but we especially enjoyed the ceviche of the day, the bacalao, and the paella. The 4 tapas and the paella were quite filling for the 3 of us, despite our inital concerns that the paella looked on the smaller side. The paella had a very generous amount of seafood, and was very flavorful - the texture of the rice was excellent as well. I'll definitely be back for tapas and paella at Zuzu! It's probably best for couples and smaller groups, and can definitely get busy, so I would plan ahead for a short wait :)

This was a vey mixed experience. I would rate it 3.5 stars. My husband enjoyed his meal, while I did not. The stand out dish was the mushroom freido, it was perfectly seasoned and came out hot. My husband enjoyed the lamb chops (special of the day). The queso tapas was just alright, I think it would have tasted better had it been a little warmer. The flan cheesecake was a tiny sliver, and more cheesecake than flan flavor. The gin and tonic of the day came in a giant glass, and seemed a little watered down. The negroni was fine... The service was great, our server had the deepest voice ever heard to man, he took good care of us.

In a town known for good food, Zuzu stands out! Great Tapas, a cozy atmosphere and friendly service - This place is quickly becoming one of our favorite places to grab a weekend meal. The fact that we find ourselves driving 40 minutes to go here is a testament to just how good it is.

We walked in on a rainy Monday around lunch hour, and the food immediately lifted our mood. The mussels were perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the Zuzu Paella was so delicious I couldn't stop eating it--especially with my paired wine. An unexpectedly wonderful meal on a gloomy day.

Absolutely packed on the weekends, me and my party of 3 had to sit at the bar (so see if you can get there early or get a reservation!) We got the croquetos del dia, Spanish jamon iberico with pan con tomate, Akaushi Flat-Iron Steak and ZuZu Paella. My friend got a gin tonic of the month and I got an NA beverage (I can't remember, it had coconut and lime lol). Service was great even though it was packed, our waiter was really attentive and food came out at a reasonable pace.

We had a very good meal here! The food and the preparation of the paella and tapas were good and we liked every dish that we ordered. The service was efficient and food was served quickly. The ambience was classic including the dank and dark dining area, something I would expect at a very old Tapas and Paella place. Things that could improve: 1. Wait staff seemed very reserved when communicating with us....not so with the other customers...maybe we were not dressed up for the occasion. Well we too paid good money and ordered quite a bit for a party of 2 , so thought we deserved a little more friendliness. 2. Lighting could be a tad brighter to enjoy the full experience. 3. Squid ink Paella tends to be very wet and thus requires to cooked longer for the rice to get the classically burnt and stuck to the pan. That is whole essence of a paella. We missed that though we liked the dish for its fresh seafood. We will hope to stop by and enjoy this place better next time we are in Napa.

Had a second experience here and the food was not very impressive this time. I still love the vast gin menu and the gin tonics are huge. But I'm just not sure this is worth it at ~$18-20 per small plate Ceviche - it was halibut the night I went. Very few pieces of fish, mostly other veggies/filler. This dish has good flavor, but the fish itself had a fishy funk and didn't taste like it was of great quality. Tortilla espanola - plain and dry. A little overdone in my opinion Steak - they asked what temp we wanted and we asked for medium. What came out was closer to rare Chicken croquetas - still great. Crisp exterior and soft interior, nice and savory. Shrimp/gambas - this was my favorite. Shrimp are cooked well and the sauce is delicious. But at $5 per shrimp... maybe not worth it Apple empanada - the edge of the empanada had an overpowering burnt sugar flavor that was super bitter. The fruit filling was pretty meager, and although the menu said apple, the receipt said peach so not sure in the end what it was. Tres leches - this was very tasty with crisp caramelized banana. Overall, I wouldn't come back again. The quality of the food just doesn't match the price anymore

The food though was disappointing. The most interesting item was the clams that came in a cava broth with garlic and parsley. They brought some toasted hearty bread to soak up the sauce. The baby kale salad was also nice with shaved fennel and manchego. The other three dishes were both off and a bit weird. The cauliflower came with bacon, which was good, and sweet dates; the dates were an odd addition and they stuck to your teeth. The calamari, was prepared well - it wasn't chewy - but it just had an off flavor, or at least one I haven't experienced before. Same too for the octopus. This was a much larger portion than typical - two tentacles, plus potatoes and olives. The octopus though was rather mealy. Small Spanish red wine list; only four. Tried two and neither were our favorites. The 1970s-80s classic rock soundtrack was an odd choice for background music.

However, there weren't a ton of people in there so a larger party like ours thankfully worked. I was a little bit confused by the menu because I felt like it was attempting to be a fusion restaurant of some sort. Flavor profiles ranged from Asian cuisine to Italian and to Mexican/Latin. That being said everything that we ate was delicious. I do feel like some of the entrées felt a little bit incomplete. For example, the octopus dish was very good, but clearly needed a vessel to soak up all of the rich sauce. A side of rice would've gone a long way had it been included in the entrée. Our server and the bartender were amazing though. They came over and checked on us regularly, refilling our waters as needed, and took a group photo of us more than once lol.
