Celebrated Mother's Day with a friend. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful day. We both chose the steak frites. Just wow! They will be opening up for lunch again in about a week. Staff was friendly, service was outstanding. The have bar seating as well.

3.5 STARS Best burger in Napa Valley? "Best" is subjective, not to mention overused...just look at TikTok. Plus, a Big Mac can be the "best thing evaaaa" at 3 am. For years, Compline's burger has been on numerous "Best" of lists so decided to finally give them a try during a staycation. Compline Burger w/ aioli, balsamic onion, schoch family cheese ($24 + $4 bacon) & Duck Fat Fries ($12): https://tinyurl.com/bdedaxwy The thick patty was tender and beefy, with the smoky bacon adding a crispy textural contrast and the melty cheese a nice sharpness. The sweet tang of the onions cut through the richness. To nitpick, the patty wasn't juicy and I prefer a harder sear. Also, while the model bakery bun was soft, it wasn't toasted enough and lacked structural integrity (bottoms were soggy). Can't have a burger without fries! The duck fries were deliciously crunchy with a soft interior and extra richness from the duck fat. We also ordered the Vichyssoise - Brentwood corn, herb oil ($16): https://tinyurl.com/33kshc99 and Yellowfin Tuna w/ avocado mousse, yuzu kosho, rice chicharrón ($26): https://tinyurl.com/53aa9s65 The chilled corn soup was light and creamy with a natural sweetness. The tuna tartar ran too sour but the rice chicharrón (bánh tráng) was great for noshing. Our server was super friendly. There were two other gentleman that appeared later (owner/management?) - I wish they checked in since our server was spread very thin and it was hard to get a hold of her. Food service was HELLA slow. We were the only table at the time (another table was waiting for the rest of their party) yet it took 30 minutes to receive the cold apps and another 30 minutes for our burger. Hip indoor outdoor feels with the lounge area opening up to the patio. Overall, tasty bougie burger and I'm glad I knocked this off my list to try. The burger and fries alone will run more than $50 after tax, 5% surcharge, and tip tho so def a splurge!

    Grilled scallops - perfect!

Service food and wine were exceptional! We went specifically for Chef Masseys specials menu and it was awesome! We also were pleased that Compline is honoring the retail pricing on all wines from their wine shop - making bottle purchases very affordable for your meal! From the moment we walked in, our server was friendly and helpful, service was attentive, we met Chef Massey, consulted with the Sommelier for wine - all was perfection! Thank you!

When we heard that this place was started by a Master Somm from Nebraska, we knew we needed to go! We were a little early for a reservation, but we're seated quickly when we got there. Their patio is on the smaller side, but they had the perfect amount of tables where you felt spread out enough from everyone else. Everyone who helped us was really knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. They're by the glass menu was really unique and offered some variety, which is great, especially in Napa when you're used to only cabs and Chardonnays. We started with the deviled eggs and duck fat fries. The deviled eggs we're cooked perfectly and the little bacon jam on top of them added the perfect amount of fat and extra flavor. The duck fat fries were amazing and crispy, and the aioli they came with helps cut through the heaviness of the fries. I got the carbonara for dinner. The noodles seemed homemade in the best way and we're cooked to al dente perfection. The bacon in it was crispy and chewy and all the flavors melt it perfectly without feeling too heavy or indulgent. My husband got the steak and it was also cooked perfectly. We're always hesitant to get steak while we're out of Nebraska because we are spoiled with the quality in our hometown however this was very well executed-- cooked exactly to medium rare and so tender. Overall, we had a really great meal and we're excited to return next time we're in town!

Wow, I really enjoyed my first time here. Came for dinner on a Saturday. We made reservations but had a bit of a wait upon arrival. It was around 8p so the interior was dark and sexy but very lively. Almost like a lounge. The jalapeño margarita I had was legit spicy. The waitress was not joking when she warned us about the spice level. Everything we ate was amazing: the duck fat fried, fried chicken thigh and the carbonara. We were stuffed so we skipped dessert but everything was sooo good! Definitely will be back.

I had looked at a postcard in the nearby visitor center showing this on the Napa cheeseburger trail. I had a pretty good cheeseburger at the start of the trail so I was interested. We started with the cheese plate. Very tasty cheeses. Diverse too. Little light on the accoutrements but we're here for the cheese. Solid but touch over priced. My wife got the veggie plate. Lots of fun colorful veggies with the sweet potato condiment. The veggies were raw which rendered some more pleasant than others to eat. Ok the cheeseburger. I paid a little extra for the bacon. I'm glad I did. It had some good substance. Good bun that held up to the juicy patty. I liked the pickled veggies with it so I could tinker as I wanted. The weird thing was I don't remember the cheese at all. Meat was cooked correctly and very generous. Seasoning struggled to make it all the way through so it got kind of bland and heavy. Good but not near worth the price. The duck fat fries were ok. They reminded me of those crispy fries you get at a restaurant that can save any dish. Was that appropriate for the duck fat application? Not sure. Did it keep my vegetarian wife off of my fries. It's good place. Little spendy but solid.

We had the most wonderful meal at Compline. I had their duck fat fries every single day at Bottlerock in 2022 and have been trying to get back to Napa for them ever since. We started with wine and beer and the duck fat fries, then had a burger and hanger steak, finishing with a warm almond cake. Every bite was delicious and oh those fries. The Brunello was so good, I got a bottle to bring home. Great restaurant and service. I look forward to coming back.

This was the worst meal and service that we experienced in Napa...We feel bad for our server as she wasn't trained enough. No clue on what vodkas they have; it took forever for our friend to get a drink. I also asked for a half order of a pasta for an appetizer; they said no....not even busy...really? I took the tuna tartare, Not #1 tuna that they advertise. Devil eggs tasted off, lamb meatballs dense. Here's the best 2 orders of the Bavette Steak, both medium rare....one rare the other is medium to well...really? And the pave potato has seen better days, old and oxidized. We sat outdoors and we couldn't get anyone to put the heater on...I'm giving it a 2, but I could have given it just 1 star.

I had a lovely experience back in June with my parents and partner at this spot. We made a last-minute reservation here after striking out with winery plans in the late afternoon--don't confuse the restaurant location with the wine bar location like we did! Both are within walking distance to each other. We got our wine fix tended to perfectly here. We asked about wines that would serve for all of our different preferences and with the food we ordered, and we got recommendations that we all loved from a staff member who knew his wines. I wish I remembered his name. It was my partner's first time in the Napa area and we were bummed to miss out on the wineries, but the staff member's expertise really came through for our late afternoon / early evening dinner and wine and we can't thank him enough for brightening our experience, as well as the servers who tended to us! Our food was delicious too, and we ordered the following from what I recall: California cheese board, daily bread (with butter), beef tartare, crudo (I don't recall which fish), ceviche, and almond cake. I'd love to come back here when we're all in the area again.

    Carbonara
    Nica F.

Carbonara was good it will be better thought if they added more seasoning or salt. The noodles was perfect. I didn't like the wine it was sour. Sandwich was ok too, standard where I can it anywhere. Service was fast and the guy was nice. The place it nice indoor and outdoor.

    Jasmin H.

Very elegant and well decorated interior. We almost got the prefix menu, but then decided to order a la carte. The portions were somewhat small. The wine is definitely great. Cocktail was well prepared.

There are so many good and tasty restaurants in napa and this is not one of them. This might be a nice place to catch a drink but certainly not for dinner. Their price point didn't align with the quality and taste. First, their famous duck fat french fries. Nothing special because they literally tasted like regular fries. There was barely any hint of duck. Rockfish: There was no mention of chili oil used on their menu and that combination tasted really odd. Not only did it not complement the fish, it was overpowering and over shadowed the freshness of the fish. Fried chicken: it was juicy but bland. They overcompensated the base marinate with heavy salt on the flour coating. Overall rating: will but return

    Toilet
    Toilet Expert T.

Toilet feels cozy with hot water. I can clean my dirty oily hand easily. I got the compile burger with medium rare. Very fulfilling. It is definitely on the top light in Bay Area. Toilet: 5/5 hot hot water! Food: 5/5 the duck oil fries is good Staff: 5/5 super friendly

Shortly after, her husband (and the winery's owner) Adam walks up with their daughter and asks us how we're doing. We continue to be starstruck. Service was wonderful. Seating was comfy. The views weren't the best (we were drinking on the sidewalk and there's a parklet too.) The 5 wines for $29 was not bad, but the size of the pours was lacking. The first pour was the smallest and then slowly they seemed to give us more (maybe they heard me!) Honestly, the pricier wines tasted better. I wish our wine tasting could've been free if we bought two bottles or something--I would've done that! Cute merch and store with goodies inside. Bathroom is clean. Would be back!

These arancini are perfectly fried crab meat rolled into a ball served over a delicious tartar sauce. I wish I had 3 orders of this, at least. We ordered the soup of the day and their bread service. The soup was a white bean and sausage and it was perfectly salty and fatty. The bread and butter was a perfect accompaniment. The Carpe Diem salad was also really special. It had these Cabernet soaked dried cranberries that were so good and tart. For an entree, we ordered the short ribs which come over a risotto. It felt a little heavy, and maybe the sauce could've used a little acid to cut the heaviness. It was still really delicious though. For dessert, we had the espresso crème brûlée.
