Delightful wine samples
Scott N.

We loved our stop at Mia Carta. It's a very cute and comfortable spot. Love that the windows open wide. It was breezy and it was a bit surreal to watch the hanging lights swing back and forth. Watching them swing, one would think it was an earthquake. Thankfully it was clear the wind was making them move. Servers were very well versed about the wines available. They made sure they understood our preferences and worked from there. The experience, overall, was top notch. This is a great stop for wine tasting. Had we not already visited multiple wineries and purchased several cases, we would have purchased wine here. No matter, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Mia Carta.

Mia Carta is a great spot to stop by on 1st Street in Napa ~ many kudos to Alejandro for taking care of my family and I pouring an amazing tasting of Earthshine Wines! If you haven't heard of Earthshine Wines, def. check out their varietals, specifically poured at Mia Carta! Love the open air feel at this wine tasting spot; enjoying a fresh charcuterie board on a beautiful Saturday afternoon while sipping and people watching Napa regulars and tourists alike makes for a fun start to a day in the Valley! Thank you for such a nice time (also, love the fun quotes in the restrooms & building )

Love the open windows.

Had no intentions on even coming here but the staff invited us right in. I love that!! So friendly we couldn't pass it up! We both got the bubbly flight and took in the beautiful weather on a Saturday afternoon. The ambiance was very aesthetically pleasing. Justin was our server and he was so impressionable and very knowledgeable of the wines and tasting information. 5 stars because everyone was friendly. Customer service rocked and the wine was absolutely amazing!

Super cute decor!

Super cute tasting room with knowledgable staff. Was able to accommodate my party of 8 without reservations. Stopped here with the spring splash passport. Our group purchased multiple bottles.

Several different tasting options for your preferred palate. Our server was very friendly and recommended another tasting room after visit Mia Carta. Very chill atmosphere and not overly crowded. They had their windows open so you could hear a little bit of street traffic but it's not bad.

Mia Carta has great curb appeal and even better once seated!

Since this was our last stop of the day, we went with one glass of the Brut ($16) each to toast the birthday girl, the Caviar Flight that includes three 0.5 ounce jars of caviar, potato chips, toast points, Carr crackers, small bowl of crème fraiche and lemon wedges, and tried the salmon gougeres. While they had good flavor, they were on the drier side. We easily hit our minimum spend with the selection and enjoyed the French opulence, along with the cute goods for purchase on the way out. They also added 18% automatically for our party of 6 to the final bill. Great for pictures, although we got rained in. Still a good stop for sparkling wine lovers.

Come back down to earth. Total bad taste in our mouths now, your property is stunning but your soul seems dark.

Everyone having wine chose the Signature Flight, which included one white and three reds. I appreciated the option to substitute a Sauvignon Blanc for the Chardonnay, a nice personal touch. Each wine was distinctive, balanced, and delicious in its own way. You could really tell the care and craftsmanship behind every pour. What really stood out was the hospitality. Our host was not only incredibly thoughtful but impressively knowledgeable. She explained where each wine's grapes were grown, described the flavor profiles we could expect, and added insights into how the terroir influenced the wine -- all without it ever feeling too technical or over our heads. Even better, our designated driver was offered iced tea, lemonade, or an Arnold Palmer, which I really appreciated. It's always a plus when tasting rooms consider the full group's experience, not just the drinkers. The vibe was so warm and relaxing, we ended up staying for over two hours. It felt less like a stop and more like a true experience. Definitely one of the highlights of our time in downtown Napa.

Tours and tastings are by appointment only. Call them at 707-226-8320 or email at…read moreinfo@hendrywines.com to schedule a tour. 21 years of age and over only. Not kid friendly. But dog friendly. Quality/Quantity - I had a hard time with the website making my appointment, it's a user issue as I am just not tech savvy. So I called and someone actually answered the phone and made my appointment for me, THANK you! We arrived 15 mins early, so we hung out in the lobby reading all the history, etc. Then Skip took us to the best view overlooking the vineyard for our tasting; see pictures! We sampled almost ALL the reds! All of which were good. See pictures. I like the fact that we did side by side tastings of many of his wines. My favorites were the 2022 Primitivo and 2021 Malbec, which we bought a few bottles of. Ambiance - Secluded private winery. Close to main Downtown Napa, but far enough away for privacy and a feeling of being far away. Appointment only, so very private and customer focused. Typically no more than 3 parties at a time. Today was considered a very busy day as there were 4 parties including us, lol. Gated private estate. 200 acres. Plenty of parking, especially since hosting only 3 guests at a time. Events - See their website. Well behaved dogs are allowed outdoors. Service - Skip is a history buff and we both talked for hours... After leaving, well really the next day (LOL), I realized that our tasting was supposed to be only 60 minutes. I guess because we got along so well, we stayed until closing! And he gave me a glass with a generous splash and let us walk the property alone after they left! So welcoming and trusting. Price - Depends on which tasting and what you buy; see their website for prices. Tastings range from $50 to $100 per person. One free designated driver allowed. Tasting fees waived with wine equivalent purchases. Hike tours $75 per person ($60 for club members). See their website for more information. Owner Comment - Congrats on your family's success since 1939 and congrats to this winery's success since 1992.

After we finished eating, I frantically researched (read: checked Yelp) for a winery to visit. Housley seemed to fit the bill--good reviews, dog-friendly (we had her dog with us), and what seemed to be a reasonable tasting price. We get there and we realize it's owned by Tamera Mowry (who is now Mowry-Housley!) There's a picture of her and her husband (a former baseball player) in the window. We're sort-of starstruck. Shortly after, her husband (and the winery's owner) Adam walks up with their daughter and asks us how we're doing. We continue to be starstruck. Service was wonderful. Seating was comfy. The views weren't the best (we were drinking on the sidewalk and there's a parklet too.) The 5 wines for $29 was not bad, but the size of the pours was lacking. The first pour was the smallest and then slowly they seemed to give us more (maybe they heard me!) Honestly, the pricier wines tasted better. I wish our wine tasting could've been free if we bought two bottles or something--I would've done that! Cute merch and store with goodies inside. Bathroom is clean. Would be back!
