Eric was very knowledgeable about the wines we tried. Definitely liked bs with him. Wasn't a fan of the last kind of pork belly that was served in the pairing. The Chef from Chicago (wish I could remember his name) really killed his sauce and there was a Thai one I like especially a lot too. Only down side is the pork belly flavor, smoke from what I gathered over powered the sauces flavors. So that was a bummer. One of the reasons I really loved my experience at the Yountville tasting for what was our 13th winter stop was that it was a bacon and wine pairing. The tasting room in Yountville was very hip and chic, with a sophisticated design that comprised the wine cellar with its glass walls and wooden shelving. While we enjoyed the experience at one of the high top tables, the lounge area is also very lovely with the fireplace and leather sofas. We went to Priest Ranch tasting room this past Saturday. My in-laws have a second home in Yountville and I regularly take friends and family to visit and wine taste. Our experience at Priest Ranch was disappointing, and unwelcoming, I definitely will not be taking anyone there again. When we walked into the Kitchen at Priest Ranch, one of my friends (who were tourists from Southern CA) was excitedly recording and narrating the surroundings, as she did at every tasting room, restaurant and store we visited without incident. The employee at the Priest Ranch Kitchen even took the phone and recorded my friend in the restaurant as part of the fun. Evidently this was so offensive to the management staff at Priest Ranch, they refused to serve my friend at the tasting and explained that recording the surroundings including staff is in their view "bully-type" behavior. It was a completely overblown and dramatic response to what was otherwise harmless and touristy behavior. If the people at Priest Ranch feel so strongly about videos, there should be signage asking patrons to not record on the grounds. The way the situation was handled by refusing to serve her and using a "hot-button" term like "bully" to describe the situation which actually had no connection to bullying whatsoever was ridiculous and insulting. read more

Hubs and I arrived in the Tasting Room, which turned out to be a very happy accident. Pointed our car towards the direction and mission of finding a well known smash burger. We located parking in the back of the building, and it was great to note that they have Tesla chargers. Stepping in between the buildings, the whoosh of the tasting room's door seemed to invite us in and the plush couches pulled us in further. Definitely not a place that would dole out burgers, but I was curious and stepped up to the host stand. We didn't quite have a reservation, but luckily we arrived early enough (11am) that they were able to set us on the front patio on this gorgeous day in Yountville. As I do in my normal fashion, I checked in on Yelp and was surprised that we had just earned a free charcuterie board. But this wasn't just any charcuterie board. It was a work of art! With salami infused with truffles and mushrooms, and a floral centerpiece that was fashioned out of cheese! Refer to my photo for reference, and commence the drool. They are expanding next store into a full on restaurant. And if it is anything like the delectable fine wines they pour, it's gonna be epic. But let me get back to the tasting. It was incredible we had a charcuterie board that was a splendid selection of morsels that matched back to the wines including a bacon jam that was sweet, smokey and salty. They have a wine and bacon tasting available too. They sell the jars of bacon jam on the premises. Buy one you won't be sorry and it will bring you back to the memorable tasting experience you just had at Priest Ranch wines. The interior of the tasting room is modern with clean lines and plenty of comfy seating. The large windows expand to the sidewalk area with more seats outside. Preist Ranch is a boutique wine brand in Napa. We have enjoyed their wines for years but a visit to their tasting room always results in new adventures. Reservations are highly recommended for tastings due to high demand although the team will do their best to accommodate walk-ins. We participated in the bacon and wine pairing experience. Our host had everything prepared when we arrived and offered us a splash of their newly released sparkling rose and then a a really nice overview of the wine offerings. The pairings were super creative and added a wonderful depth to the wines.
