Fresh take on high end traditional French fare. The scallop Wellington is the standout and signature dish. The caviar is done with model bakery muffins which were really good vessels. Service was spot on and friendly. Best lobster bisque I've had. Chilean Sea bass was delicious but slightly too undercooked. Husband had the Beef Wellington but a little overcooked in places but good portion. We had to send the arugula salad back because we didn't get dressing on the side. The floor manager whispered to the server, "Did they ASK for it on the side?" I thought that was rude but don't know if he was blaming us or the server. This restaurant is amazing! I was there already twice in the last three weeks first time for my son's birthday and second with my daughter and her boyfriend who were visiting from New York. We drove an hour to Napa just to eat here. Everything about Normandie is top notch: Delicious and beautifully presented food, Very attentive, friendly and professional service (our server Ali and his team were wonderful), Very pleasant ambiance, outside patio has a beautiful view of the river. Normandie Napa offers a upscale swanky interior, a great bar with a fabulous martini menu, cool riverside promenade tables with excellent people watching, great service, and good food. The delicious appetizers (Warm Goat Cheese Souffle, Heirloom Tomato and Burrata, and Beet Salad) were the biggest hits. The Wild Boar was very good, the special fish and mashed potatoes with ratatouille was dry and the Beef Wellington that is advertised as "Chef's preparation Medium Rare Only" was WELL DONE. Ugh. A few items docked this down for us: - Nearly all tables outside were empty at the time of our reservation, and despite specifying an occasion in the booking, we were seated in the back with no view aside a busy door. However, they happily moved us upon request. - The food was not up to par with the pricing / ambiance. The lobster was much smaller than anticipated, and the vegetables on the side were very cold. Normandie has been on our list to try out since they opened a couple months ago and we recently had the opportunity to stop in. Firstly, there's a big garage at the end of Main St so parking is quite easy (first floor is 3 hours max, while the second floor and up are all day). The restaurant itself is in a beautiful location right on the river walk and from the moment we stopped in to when we left, the service was incredible--warm, friendly, and really striving to create the best experience possible for each guest. What initially got me interested in the restaurant was their wine list. When they first opened, they had some exceptional values on it (some bottles were nearly retail pricing). Now that they've been open for a couple of months, I see the prices moving up so perhaps the introductory pricing was a way to get people in the door. That being said, there are still some okay values on the list if you know what you're looking for, however based on my experience, the wines were pushing 2x retail price. The list itself also wasn't as extensive as other restaurants in town, but some good breadth across local wines and French wines (mostly Burgundy and Bordeaux). We started with the frisee salad and morel & porcini risotto. Both were quite large by starter standards so you may not want to order one per person. The risotto, for example, was super rich, and pretty much an entree portion. The salad was solid--we really enjoyed the shallot-truffle vinaigrette. The risotto was delicious. The rice was slightly overcooked for my palate and I wish they used a little less cheese as it was slightly overpowering. For the mains, we had the burger and steak frites. The burger was fine--a little overcooked (ordered medium, came up medium well+), but wasn't too bad. There are a lot of amazing burgers in Napa, so you really have to nail it. This burger was solidly middle of the pack. The steak frites was easily the highlight of the meal. The steak was perfectly cooked and super tender and juicy and I still think about that bearnaise stuff, which had a lot of fresh herbs to cut through the richness. Overall, we had a very good lunch. All of the food was solid, but nothing except the steak and bearnaise sauce stood out as exceptional to us. The dinner menu looks a bit more extensive so we may eventually try it, but with the wine list pushing toward normal markups, we won't be in a rush for our next visit. read more

Normandie Kitchen & Martini Bar in downtown Napa is an excellent restaurant. French inspired food. Nice selection of starters. My husband had the Scallop Wellington, which he loved. I had the Burrata Salad. Tomatoes, peaches, & thinly sliced apples in a white balsamic dressing. Perfection. For the entree my husband had the Chilean Sea Bass, which he said was the best he's ever had. I had the Beef Wellington which had a flaky crust and a melt-in-your-mouth beef filet inside. It was perfect. I was going to order the Pistachio crème brûlée with the chocolate ganache top but they gave it to us for free when they found out it was our anniversary. The ambience is lovely and the service was impeccable. They work so hard and it's clear when you eat there. I highly recommend this restaurant. We will definitely be going back. read more

I tried the goat cheese salad and chicken (orange) plate - the salad was pretty good, though I am not sure if the fried cheese was my favorite, great dressing though. The chicken had good texture and flavor on the outside, but unfortunately, flavor didn't permeate all the way through to the inside. I don't write restaurant reviews very often because, honestly, it takes a lot for me to feel compelled to tell people they need to go somewhere. Normandie is one of those places. Whenever we try a new restaurant, I usually expect there to be one or two dishes that are just okay. That's normal. Especially for a newer restaurant, there's usually something that misses the mark. That never happened. Every single course was exceptional. The Scallop Wellington was beautifully balanced. The risotto was rich without feeling heavy. The Beef Wellington absolutely lived up to the hype. Dessert somehow managed to end the evening on an even higher note, especially paired with the Salted Caramel Martini they surprised us with. One of my favorite moments actually came from a mistake. We ordered a Vesper Martini but were served their Black Pepper Martini instead. Rather than simply replacing it, they brought us the Vesper as well, split both cocktails between us, and invited us to enjoy both. It was such a thoughtful way to handle it that what could have been an inconvenience became one of the highlights of the evening. As incredible as the food was, the service is what set Normandie apart. Maggie was exceptional. She carried herself with a quiet confidence that immediately put us at ease. Every movement felt intentional. She made genuine eye contact, anticipated what we needed before we asked, and knew exactly when to step in and when to simply let us enjoy the moment. Nothing about her service felt rehearsed or transactional. She wasn't there to take our order--she was there to create an experience, and she did it effortlessly. When she shared that she'd worked alongside Thomas Keller, it wasn't surprising. It explained everything. You can tell Maggie and Koray have poured themselves into this restaurant. Every detail felt considered without ever feeling forced. It's refined without being pretentious, polished without feeling stiff, and welcoming in a way that's increasingly hard to find. We've been fortunate enough to dine at Michelin-starred restaurants and Michelin Guide restaurants, and while comparisons only go so far, Normandie belongs in that conversation. It has the same level of intention, craftsmanship, and hospitality that makes a meal memorable long after you've left the table. We left talking about when we'd come back--not if. Normandie has officially become our favorite French-inspired restaurant in Napa, and I have no doubt we'll be regulars. read more

The goat cheese souffle was more like a soup with a biscuit on top rather than souffle, but was quite tasty. The saffron seafood pappardalle hearty and had plenty of great ingredients (freshly made pasta, mussels, prawns, salmon, and even sea scallops) and the "loup de mer" Mediterranean sea bass over red peppers and eggplant was also quite good. Came one night with my family and friends to dinner. We sat outside and loved the music and beautiful sunset. I had the pomegranate martini, which was delicious, and my partner had another cocktail which they enjoyed, even though they don't like drinking. Finally had some free time during the week and decided to lunch at Normandie. Upon on arrival without reservation I was promptly seated at by the window near entrance. The restaurant has outdoor & indoor seating but chose indoors because of chance of sprinkles. Wasn't too hungry so chose the Buffalo Crepe which came with a small Arugula Salad. It was flavorful and good size for me. I still had room to eat so I got the Cheesecake with Mango Sauce. Good combination but my personal preference would be to have more mango sauce since I love mangos. Overall first impression with service and food both very good. I'll be back to try more! read more

Normandie is my favorite restaurant of all time and heres a short story why. I have been to Normandie about 4 times in the past 6 months or so. I've taken my Girlfriend here for her birthday, my Girlfriend and i have celebrated our anniversary here, I've brought my grandparents here and even some good friends of mine and every time i have came here, everything is absolutely perfect. From the moment i walk in, to the moment i finish my meal, i have a huge smile on my face and i feel so comfortable and well catered to. The food is phenomenal. I've had a majority of the menu already but my favorites are the risotto starter, Beef Wellington, and Steak Diane. The Bread pudding is Definitely a must when it comes to dessert. As im enjoying this amazing food im enjoying the beautiful atmosphere and ambiance whether i sit inside or outside. Its all gorgeous and the music as well. The service is outstanding. I am usually greeted by a very nice gentleman at the front and taken care of by a lovely lady known as Maggie. All of the other servers do a fantastic job as well. Owners Karayo and Maggie welcomed us as if we were longtime friends--genuine hospitality that instantly set the tone for the evening. Indoor and outdoor seating are both inviting, though we chose to dine inside. The service was flawless from start to finish, and every dish our party of five ordered was exceptional. Fantastic in every sense. From the moment we entered we knew we were in for a special experience. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We both had appetizers. My husband had the. spinach and frisée salad and the goat cheese soufflé For the entree I had Beef Wellington and my husband had the duck. Both were good but not outstanding. When my husband made the reservation he said it was or 46th anniversary. After we finished the entree, a member of the waitstaff came to our table with crème brûlée and a candle. The lunch dining experience at Normandie Restaurant & Martini Bar was excellent. We started the meal with the Chevre & Roquette Salad. It was the perfect tone setter for the meal. The warmed goat cheese kind of steals the show but it pairs very well with the baby arugula and vinaigrette dressing. My main course was the Normandie Burger. The burger was cooked perfectly. Very juicy with lots of flavor built into the patty. Triple Cream Brie on a burger is a wonderful choice and one I will be making for myself at home going forward. My wife ordered the Steak Frites which she loved. There has been some comparison to the Steak Frites at Angele in the other reviews and the main difference seems to be with the cut of steak. The NY Steak seems to be the preferred cut for my wife giving the edge to Normandie over Angele, but "To each their own." We finished the meal with the Mango NY Cheesecake. Solid dessert, no complaints. We had a wonderful time at Normandie and would love to dine here again. They have a wonderful wine and cocktail list that'd I'd love to take a closer look at next time. read more

This was the best dining experience we have had in years. We had the filet and wild boar - both were outstanding. The sommelier recommended a fantastic wine from Bremer that paired perfectly with the meal. Everyone that worked there was genuinely friendly and conscientious. We chose to sit inside, but there was outdoor river-front seating as well. The restaurant is intimate and inviting. At the end of our meal the sommelier brought us the pistachio creme Brule, which was fantastic. I'm so glad to write a review for this very special French cuisine restaurant! The wonderful experience began before I even walked through the door. I was warmly greeted upon arrival and then graciously escorted to our table by another member of the staff. The ambience is charming, with offerings of both indoor and outdoor seating, creating a lovely atmosphere for an enjoyable evening. The menu offers an array of specialties to satisfy every palate. We started the evening with a wonderful bottle of champagne shared with amazing friends--which, of course, is hard to beat! For our starter, we had the Phyllo-Baked Anjou Pear with Roquefort Cheese, and it was absolutely delicious. The combination of flavors was incredible, and it practically melted in my mouth. For my entrée, I selected the Beef Wellington. I'm always on the lookout for a great Beef Wellington, as many restaurants don't offer it because of the time and preparation involved. So, when you find a restaurant that does, you simply have to order it! Needless to say, I was not disappointed. It was outstanding, and I would certainly order it again. That said, there are so many other tempting entrées on the menu that I'll have plenty more to try on future visits. I paired my Beef Wellington with a glass of Pinot Noir, which was delicious as well. Of course, no dinner is complete without dessert, so we ordered two: the White Chocolate Bread Pudding and the Moelleux au Chocolat. Both were absolutely incredible and melted in your mouth. And if that wasn't enough, we topped off the evening with their Salted Caramel Martini. They are known for their martinis, and now I understand why!
