We traveled to Napa Valley for our 15 year anniversary. Upon research chose this restaurant via OpenTable; super excited thinking this was more of a fine dining experience. Upon entry and seeing people dressed very relaxed, my assumption was curved. The inside was relatively small, we sat at small table in the back near the "kitchen" food pick-up area is the best way to describe it. Our waiter was okay, provided us the nightly specials and acknowledged our Anniversary. Nothing beyond the standard greeting. Drinks: very basic in my opinion; subjective I get it. Me and my guests were not wow'd. We had to ask for additional supplements for the Lavender Lemon Drop and Georgia Peach or something Peach with bourbon, peach puree, etc. Appetizers: PrimeRib Sliders, Fried Coconut Prawns and Lobster Bisque. Again taste is subjective, being from the south, flavors and richness is a MUST. I can't say we got that. Our guest throughly enjoyed the prawns and said the sauce was GREAT. I'm use to a VERY rich, cozy Lobster bisque and this missed the mark, and there was barely any lobster. Entrees: 8 oz Filet Mignon, Prime Rib, Crab enchiladas and Scallops. Filet was requested as medium, came out almost done, no pink in sight. While my guest was disappointed, they didn't feel like the battle of waiting for it to be corrected, disappointing. Prime Rib, was okay. The guest barely finished it. Pan Roasted Maine Scallops, were okay, cooked fine. Meal ended once a gnat landed on the crisp crackers. Crab Enchiladas: A very unique dish. Plentiful for sure; taste basic. Essentially a taco with all the fixings with crab sprinkled in minus a shell. No dessert for us; however, we were offered a cupcake with a candle for our anniversary. While this review is my/our experience, the restaurant missed the mark with this basic, dry store bought cupcake. I refuse to believe this was made in house. I almost didn't book here after reading a review that declared this restaurant a tourist trap, so I'll start there. No, this is a seriously good classic seafood restaurant. The dishes we ordered were perfectly cooked and seasoned, delivered in well-paced succession by friendly and efficient servers to our outdoor table where we enjoyed the beautiful view of the river and the energy of the passersby on a Friday evening. The Dungeness Crab Cakes (starter) and Pan Roasted Maine Scallops (entree) were highlights for us. The Ceviche of the Day featured an herb sauce base and was the most unique dish we tried. It was probably our least favorite but still very good. And if you like wine, this is of course Napa! We decided to try this waterfront restaurant. The seating was quite cramped. We were seated at the corner booth, and if we had a neighbor, it would have been too close for comfort. We ordered the spaghetti entree and grilled branzino. As expected, you have to order vegetables on the side since they don't come with the meal. It was quite pricey, but hey, this is Napa! Came here for our New Year's Eve dinner, and the place was absolutely packed--especially considering it was a rainy night. Waterfront Grill is located in downtown Napa, so we parked in the nearby parking garage and walked over. The restaurant itself is pretty small, and even though we had dinner reservations, we still ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes. It seemed like people were lingering at their tables, chatting away without realizing how many others were waiting. From what I could tell, the restaurant is designed for guests to enjoy dining outside by the river, which probably makes for a really nice experience on a warm day. But since it was cold and raining on NYE, the patio was closed. That meant everyone was squeezed inside, and it felt overcrowded with very little space to move or sit comfortably. I was honestly underwhelmed by the food. I ordered the ceviche, but the flavor was overwhelming--almost like eating straight wasabi. Our waitress was kind and understanding, and she offered to replace it with a lobster bisque, which I appreciated. I wasn't very hungry that night, so I stuck with the soup. For my main dish, I ordered the crab cakes, which were just okay. Nothing memorable. My boyfriend had the steamed mussels and scallops, and he said they were fine but not amazing. The atmosphere didn't help much either. The music was loud, and with the crowd packed in so tightly, it felt more chaotic than festive. Overall, it wasn't the New Year's Eve dinner experience we were hoping for. Maybe it's better on a regular night or when the patio is open, but for us, it just didn't live up to the hype. read more

The ambiance and service is alwas amazing. I was less impressed with the quality of food and more impressed the bread sadly to say. I ordered the Rib Eye and being a country girl (having bottled raised a few Angus in my day) the medium rare piece of meat i was given was so chewy, gray, and old, I don't think this is a popular cut. We had wine and cocktails, loved my sweet, flowery drink (strong) and my friend loved her Duckhorn Sauv blanc. Overall really good, quick and attentive service. We had the steamed mussels and sourdough, ceviche, lobster roll and clam fettuccine. The lobster rolls was great, sweet and buttery with fresh whole pieces of lobster. The clam pasta was good, a nice mix of citrus, creamy butter and a hint of garlic and red pepper. The mussels were probably the best. I just wish it came with more bread for the sauce. Only complaint was the ceviche, which was covered in a salsa Verde cilantro sauce. It was a little cold outside, but they turned the heaters on. The heaters definitely made it comfortable to sit outside. We started with the shrimp and calamari fritti and crab cakes. The fritti was delicious. The calamari was very tender. Nice pieces of onions and shrimp in the mix. There were also fried olives. Not a piece left - it was devoured. The crab cake order came with 2 pieces. They were small in portion, but delicious. The remoulade sauce was a perfect pairing. As a side, we ordered a cup of clam chowder. It was a small cup of chowder. My husband took a spoonful and I finished it off. It was so good. Had good balance of bacon, potatoes, clam and did I mention bacon!!! My husband wanted more, but saw it disappeared, oops. I ordered the filet mignon and my husband ordered the scallops. Our friends ordered the filet mignon with shrimp and lobster ravioli. My filet mignon was perfectly cooked. I requested medium. It was well seasoned and melted in my mouth. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were delicious. I tried my husband's scallop, half of one. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. It was so good that he devoured it and I didn't get a chance to get another bite! We ordered dessert, Tracy's Mocha cake. This is the reason why I couldn't give 5 stars. We waited at least 15 minutes before asking the server about dessert. She said that the pastry chef left and the head chef had to put it together. When we got it, the cake was dry. It was almost as if the cake was not fresh. We had to send it back, we took small bites and it was just not good. So, they're bound to have a very high lease payment each month. But damn! This isn't the French Laundry! It's the Waterfront Seafood Grill and there are no Michelin stars attached to this restaurant to justify the price. Keeping it real... If you're looking for a "fancy" restaurant in downtown Napa, this will probably do nicely. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with the food or the service. Just make sure to recognize that you'll eat here and end up dropping a few Benjamins in the process. Here's the bottom line, we ate here and truly enjoyed the food and the service, but we won't be returning. Omg! This is a fabulous spot to eat in Napa. My husband and I were out celebrating our anniversary and made a reservation here. They were so friendly and welcoming wishing us a happy anniversary when we arrived. The restaurant decor is beautiful but we opted to sit outside on their patio to enjoy the evening which has lovely views of the river and people enjoying the riverwalk. Literally everything on the menu looked so good, mostly seafood. We shared the shrimp cocktail and crab cakes for appetizers. Both were exceptional! My one and only minor complaint about this place is that while the crab cakes were amazing the portion was small for the cost. Our entrees (steak and lobster and scallops) were delicious and filling. We were a large group, so 2/3 of our group got a variety of seafood, including clams, fish tacos, fish and chips, and shrimp cocktail. Everyone loved their food. Came here with my wife for lunch during our day trip to Napa to celebrate our 2yr anniversary. Placed a reservation through Open Table, and was seated promptly when we arrived. They have plenty of seating for both indoor and outdoor dining. And since it was a beautiful day with no wind, we opted to dine outdoors. Robert was our server, and he was incredibly kind and personable. Not only was he a pleasure to interact with, he made sure to check in on us throughout our meal to make sure everything was ok. For our meal, we went for a seafood taco and a wagyu burger. Both were delicious, and the beef patty for my burger came out perfectly cooked at medium rare. The fish of the day was mahi-mahi, and the seafood taco dish came with two tacos. On the Open Table reservation, one of the questions asked was what the occasion was. I checked anniversary, but I've never had any restaurants acknowledge the special occasion I would check off. Surprisingly without any prompting, Robert asked us if we were celebrating our anniversary, congratulated us, and then proceeded to bring out a complimentary scoop of gelato at the end of our meal. What a thoughtful and nice gesture that we definitely appreciated. As its namesake implies, Waterfront Seafood Grill is right next to the Napa River. Although the river is murky and not much to look at, it is still an enjoyable setting and a great location to dine outdoors when the weather is nice. read more

We were extremely impressed with our meal at the waterfront Grill here in Napa. First off, they gave us a complementary Asian shrimp appetizer that just knocked our socks off. It was so good spicy and yummy. We collectively had so many delicious entrées : the Bronzino was cooked to perfection, I had the chili and Sea Bass with fresh al dente fettuccine and asparagus so good, We enjoyed the scallops, again perfectly prepared and so much delicious flavor. This was a Thursday night pretty early however, the restaurant was packed. I highly recommend you make a reservation. I couldn't tell if it was dog friendly on the inside of the restaurant however they have a rather large patio the river. The music was great. The service was phenomenal. This review based on our experience only at first sight . My co workers and I attended a convention nearby and were not sure what time it would be done so we couldn't make reservations at any places. After we finished, we tried calling a place we had our eyes on but they were busy so I called the Waterfront Seafood Grill( based on Yelp reviews) and a lady answered ' you don't need reservation' and I asked if outside was available for 7 of us... she replied 'no' so I thought maybe it was full ..... we went there anyway. After we arrived, there were only 2 tables outdoor and no one inside, one lady showed us our table which located next to a wall and right in front of the entrance! One of my co workers asked if we could get another spot since they were so empty........guess what happened ..EYE ROLLINGS started and both lady seemed irritated especially after my co workers asked asked if we could move outside, one of them replied ' I already told her when she called' yes ma'am it was me and I thought it was busy.... She said well you guys can sit there but it will be under direct sun... you can choose Oh well I am so sorry that we seem to be so picky but you know what? You weren't that busy and there were plenty of restaurants there. We finally chose to go to ANGÈLE and that was the much better choice we chose. My partner and I spent Valentine's Day at Waterfront Seafood Grill for dinner and it was really nice. We had outdoor seating and they had the heaters out which kept us warm and comfortable. After a relaxing gondola ride on the Napa River, our party was ready to end our day with a nice dinner. We had a reservation perfectly set to follow-up our return to the dock; therefore, there was no wait time when our party of four arrived at the restaurant. Adriana did a good job of checking in with us and keeping our water glasses full (this was vital after a day of wine tasting). My hubby and I made Friday night reservations at an unfavorable time but tried our chances to get seated earlier. There was plenty of room at the bar where you have access to the full menu. Ambiance: Upscale Casual. The bar was great because it has an al fresco feel due to the pass through bar with access to both inside and outside. My husband ordered an old fashion that came in a stemless martini glass and was filled with regular ice, NOT a large whisky ice ball. To make matters worse, I saw another customer with a drink that had a huge cubed ice in it. Huge fail in my book. No shade to the waiter/bartender, he was very pleasant. Food: we had the fried calamari & shrimp appetizer which was great. The only problem I had was they also fried thinly sliced lemons disguised as calamari. The strawberry lemonade mocktail was nice, but the Southern Peach cocktail was awful (it tasted like a watered down, badly made, daiquiri. The lobster bisque was tasty with actual chunks of lobster which was nice. The fried shrimp and calamari was nice, and a pretty big portion. The branzino was huge and tasty but a bit plain. The appetizer seafood sampler was pretty big, but the shrimp and lobster tails (while nicely sized) where over cooked and a bit chewy. My fiancé and I made a reservation a day advance to celebrate our engagement anniversary. Our reservation was for 3 PM on a Saturday night and when we got here, they were not busy at all and were able to seat us right away. Parking on the street is hard to find, but there is a garage across the restaurant with plenty of parking. We were greeted fairly quickly by someone who was able to provide waters right away and then our server came to introduce herself about five minutes later. We liked that the restaurant played nice and soft music for a relaxing experience. I ordered the New fashion for my drink which is similar to an old-fashioned, but I'm not sure what makes it new. For our appetizer we ordered the calamari which comes with lightly battered shrimp, vegetables, and squid. I was hoping there would be a bit more squid in the appetizer but nonetheless, it had a light texted and the dipping sauce made it extra delicious. Don't be surprised if you bite in to something kind of sour/bitter because that was probably a fried lemon slice which we thought was pretty interesting. I ordered the pan roasted main scallops, which comes with mashed potatoes, spinach, wild mushrooms, and a Cabernet and Chardonnay mixed cream. My fiancé ordered the crab enchiladas. Our food came out in about 10 to 15 minutes and both looked absolutely amazing and plated very well. My scallop entrée was delicious! The Yukon gold mashed potatoes melted in my mouth and the spinach underneath the mashed potatoes was a good addition. The scallops itself were soft and buttery. Definitely a five out of five for that entrée. The crab enchiladas had a soft texture as well, and there was a good amount of real crab in the folds. In summary, the food is definitely a five out of five, but the service to us was lacking which is a huge part in our dining experiences. We did not know who our server was as different people came up to us to either take an order and or deliver our food. My fiancé mentioned to the host for the reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and our server did not ask if we were celebrating any special occasion. Looking through yelp, we noticed that people were given complementary desserts for their celebrations, but we did not. I usually don't expect anything for a celebration, but most restaurants that we have been to have asked us in particular if we were celebrating any special events, especially a nice one like this. We thought that service would be exceptional, considering the restaurant is located in the waterfront in Napa, but unfortunately not.
