The restaurant is located inside an indoor market, with a small bar seating area, a few indoor tables, and some outdoor seating as well. Our server was very friendly, and the food was fresh and flavorful. The only downside was that the creamy soup was a bit too thin. Other than that, we were very satisfied with the experience.

The oysters at hog island are great! This location is in the oxbow market, and a great spot to enjoy some oysters. I particularly enjoy their grilled oysters. The miso nori was especially buttery and rich. They have indoor and outdoor seating plus bar seating. Our waitress was nice.

Small bite hogs island that just do the work when you want a small bites after consuming some wines Place is cool, inside the Oxnard market Clam chowder could be more Smokey and missing the thickness but is still good filled with lots of clams. Oysters are fresh and shishito is simple but very delicious as sell as the steamer clams. The sausages did it.

Hog Island Oyster Co. never disappoints! I stopped in craving fresh oysters, and it delivered on every level. This location inside Oxbow Public Market is a perfect spot to grab a seat, relax, and enjoy some incredible seafood. We ordered a dozen Chelsea Gems, and they were outstanding -- clean, briny, and perfectly shucked. You can really taste the difference when they're this fresh. The Chelsea Gems had a beautiful balance of ocean salinity with a slightly sweet finish that kept us going back for the next one. I also had one of the most unbelievable Bloody Marys I've had in a long time. It was topped with Hog Island's famous Hog Wash -- that bright, vinegary mignonette with shallots and cilantro -- which added an amazing punch of flavor to the drink. It was a perfect match with the oysters. The vibe is classic waterfront energy -- lively but relaxed. It's the kind of place where you can take your time, lean into the experience and just enjoy good food done right. Service was friendly and efficient, even when busy. If you love oysters -- or think you might -- this is a must-stop. Fresh, simple, and consistently excellent.

We went for Happy Hour and sat at the bar. It's fun to watch them shuck the oysters. They make it look so easy. The clam chowder is so legit! There's no shortage of clams in it and it's delicious. Ur server timed our dishes perfectly and checked in on us. They're adding more bar area next door within the building where the cheese and wine store used to be. If you love seafood, you can't go wrong with anything here. Their grilled cheese sandwich is also incredible.

Stopped in for a few oysters and a glass of champagne mid day this past weekend and was so happy I did. The space was well decorated, clean, and lively with all the people walking about the shops nearby. We got two seats and the bar and were quickly greeted by our server who was very friendly. We quickly received our drinks and oysters which were fresh and delicious.

Yesterday, went to Hog island restaurant in Napa, around 5:30pm. 1) Decor is nice, outside seating is very good. 2) got seat down very quick, no line. 3) Employees are super friendly and nice and efficient. 4) ordered 1 dozen of mix raw oysters, very good. 5) Ordered Acme Bread and butter, and also Fieldwork's Beer. Very relaxing and nice experience, and food arrived very fast. That is just my snacking. Next time, will plan to eat dinner there. Highly recommended

My family and I stopped by Hog Island Oyster Co. after already grabbing a bite at Oxbow Marketplace, but we still needed to satisfy our oyster and clam chowder cravings--and this was the perfect place to do it. We were sat outdoors, but the heaters kept us toasty. We also didn't have to wait long before we were seated. I ordered the mixed raw oysters, which included Sweetwater, Highwater, and West Passage oysters. I love raw seafood, and these absolutely hit the spot. Trying all three helped me realize that Sweetwater oysters are my personal favorite, which made the experience even more fun. Everything was fresh and delicious, and I always appreciate learning more about my own taste preferences along the way. Our server was wonderful. Since I'm not always sure what I like, I asked which oysters were the biggest. He explained that sizes vary but suggested the mixed option and even said he'd make a note to try to select some of the larger oysters. I'm not sure if that actually happened, but I appreciated the effort--and I'm glad I went with the mix. We also shared a couple bowls of clam chowder and an order of Old Bay fries. The chowder is thinner than the super-thick, bread-bowl-style versions you might get at Fisherman's Wharf, in case that matters to you. I enjoy both styles, and this one was really tasty with great seafood flavor and very fresh clams. I've been to the Hog Island location at the Ferry Building in San Francisco, and the quality here was just as good. I also visited during the time of a salmonella outbreak linked to oysters in multiple states--and I'm happy to report I didn't get sick. Whether that's luck, careful sourcing, or both, it definitely added to my confidence in the quality here. If you're in the area and craving oysters, I'd absolutely recommend this spot.

Great spot in Napa!!! Came here for my cousins wedding and dined here for lunch!!! This spot is located in downtown Napa in the oxbow public market which is a cool atmosphere! Hog island has indoor and outdoor seating (indoor is more limited and outdoor has more space along with heaters) Food we tried: fried shrimp, seafood stew, lobster, Brussels sprouts, and the grilled cheese! The seafood stew was probably the best and our favorite dish.... As this boiling hot tomato broth comes out with shrimp, calamari, tomatoes, scallops and white fish!!! Delicious flavors and the fresh seafood made it a legit dish to order! They also give you bread to dip BUT A TIP: order French fries to dip the fries into the Rich tomato seafood broth! The fried shrimp was delicious, crispy, good size and good batter, but you only get 4 in an order! The Brussels sprouts were very good, tender and flavorful and tasted well with the seafood stew! The LOBSTER was delicious, the full lobster comes out split in half over a bed of crispy fries!!! Awesome combo!!!! Expensive but flavorful and worth it! Overall, great experience and would definitely come back if I visit Napa!

This restaurant is located within the Oxbow Public Market, the location is great. Make sure you check in with the host before taking a seat, as there is typically a line, and multiple parties were advised there was a line and they prematurely sat down and waited for service. Came here on a Saturday, the hostess was nice, efficiently cleaning tables between assisting patrons... However, the waiter and waitresses were quite rushy and cold, as in, personality-wise. I ordered the delish kumamoto oysters, the incredible hog island clam Chowder, some fried oysters (amazing omg), oh and some regular bread which was really tough until you put it in the soup. The highlight were the Oysters and the Chowder. The lackluster part was the service - the Chowder took quite long to arrive, and the service was cold and rushy. Additionally, there is a 5% upcharge to assist with their employees' health insurance... welp, that helped me reduce the tip by 5% - I pay taxes to help with the health insurance safety net and did not think it is appropriate to push this requirement on the customer after they waited and sat down. The slow, cold service and required upcharge resulted in a sub-par tip as well as a 3/5 yelp review score. The food was great though.

1/20/25 Zach, Coco and I went to Hog Island Oyster for lunch after wine tasting. There is outdoor seating, but you have to check in inside the Ox Bow Marketplace first. Thankfully parking wasn't too terrible, we were able to park in the electric vehicle parking spot to charge the car. But overall, the entire parking lot was very packed when we drive in. I checked in at the restaurant and the hostess said it would be a 15 minute wait. I gave them my phone number since they said we would get a text when our table would be ready. We got a text actually after 2 minutes of waiting. Here's what we got: - Crab mac and cheese (his) - Steamed mussels (share) - Shrimp fettucine (mine) Overall, everything was really good even though the portions were small. Sadly, the fettuccine dish only had 4 shrimps. Service was good though. Our waitress checked in on us a few times throughout the meal.

My husband wanted some oysters and tried Hog Island Napa inside Oxbow market. Plenty of parking and seating. It did not dissappoint. We typically get our oysters at Tomales Bay but this was not bad. It was fresh and delicious. Our server explained all type of oyster we had ordered. We also got Rustic seafood stew, clam chowder, grilled cheese with plain french fries all were so good. They gave plenty of seafood in the soup. They also served us with complimentary bread and butter. Our server was amazing and checked in us few times.

Oysters were delish. But really, our enjoyment was muted by the fact that "they don't allow other establishment food brought in". Annoyed, because we ordered two plates of oysters, a bottle of wine from Hog Island- and had gotten two small wedges of cheese and crackers from the seller across the aisle from them- to eat along with our food. ....its the public market! They were "kind" about it- but I don't think I'd visit again. It's not like we were sitting there and eating/drinking other items and taking the table without honoring where we were...annoyed bc it's the public market... we've been to so many of these- and that's kind of the premise. Just ruined our enjoyment of being here and instead of ordering any more items- we ended up leaving. The oysters were fab- and really, that was the whole point of stopping here... so ‍

Upon entry and seeing people dressed very relaxed, my assumption was curved. The inside was relatively small, we sat at small table in the back near the "kitchen" food pick-up area is the best way to describe it. Our waiter was okay, provided us the nightly specials and acknowledged our Anniversary. Nothing beyond the standard greeting. Drinks: very basic in my opinion; subjective I get it. Me and my guests were not wow'd. We had to ask for additional supplements for the Lavender Lemon Drop and Georgia Peach or something Peach with bourbon, peach puree, etc. Appetizers: PrimeRib Sliders, Fried Coconut Prawns and Lobster Bisque. Again taste is subjective, being from the south, flavors and richness is a MUST. I can't say we got that. Our guest throughly enjoyed the prawns and said the sauce was GREAT. I'm use to a VERY rich, cozy Lobster bisque and this missed the mark, and there was barely any lobster. Entrees: 8 oz Filet Mignon, Prime Rib, Crab enchiladas and Scallops. Filet was requested as medium, came out almost done, no pink in sight. While my guest was disappointed, they didn't feel like the battle of waiting for it to be corrected, disappointing. Prime Rib, was okay. The guest barely finished it. Pan Roasted Maine Scallops, were okay, cooked fine. Meal ended once a gnat landed on the crisp crackers. Crab Enchiladas: A very unique dish. Plentiful for sure; taste basic. Essentially a taco with all the fixings with crab sprinkled in minus a shell. No dessert for us; however, we were offered a cupcake with a candle for our anniversary. While this review is my/our experience, the restaurant missed the mark with this basic, dry store bought cupcake. I refuse to believe this was made in house. Perhaps one of the menu dessert options would have been better. We'll never know. My expectations were not met. Hope yours is.

The stellar service made the evening unforgettable and super-special. The food was also outstanding. I had the pork cutlet with capers and butter -- absolutely delicious! The cutlet was thin with a wonderfully crispy exterior and soft, buttery interior. The sauce on top didn't overwhelm the meat. The portion was so huge I enjoyed leftovers for lunch the next day. Other members of our party got the seafood and meat pastas (universally praised for freshness and perfectly cooked pasta). The appetizers were standouts as well, including the lightly fried olives with anchovies (a real surprise since the anchovies were mellowed by the cooking process but kept their savory deliciousness). The chop salad was also a revelation. Overall, we could not have asked for a better experience. We will gladly return to Scala when we are back in Napa!

Presentation was surprisingly impressive even with their side dishes. Their New Zealand Lamb Chops were criminal. Lamb will never be the same after having theirs. It. Was. Perfect. I did not care for any of their side sauces, which were on point, but I just prefer a simpler wine sauce. The wife ordered the Filet Mignon, which was prepared perfectly and was that melt in your mouth tenderness you hope for. Their included sides were asparagus, glazed carrots, AND mashed potatoes which were all fantastic. The dish had good flavor with the highlight being how fresh the shrimp tasted. Next level freshness that would resonate through the meal. The one thing I would adjust with this dish is the level of crispiness. I normally order fries extra crispy and I should have done the same with this. Next was the french onion soup and the Caesar salad. The soup was classic style with the onions being on the sweeter side. Good rendition. The salad was something that my friends had raved about and it was quite good. Nothing wrong with it but I have had better. The presentation was cool too. For my entree I had the ribeye steak. It comes with potatoes and vegetables. The steak was good but I would have preferred a higher char level. I ordered medium rare and it was closer to medium. Cooked at a higher temp for a shorter time would have been better, still the steak had good flavor. The potatoes and veggies were uninspired but there was nothing wrong with them. I order fries on the side which like the calamari could have been crispier. The peppercorn sauce was delicious. My wife had one of the specials for her entree, the ahi poke salad. This dish was delicious. Again the freshness of the seafood stood out. A terrific balance of flavors with some wasabi heat. 10 for 10. It was my birthday so the restaurant gave me a free chocolate mousse dessert which was delightful. All in all a good meal. Covered, outdoor patio and nice bar compliments the dining room. Service was great and top notch. Unique corkage fee. Buy a bottle, open your bottle for free. Not bad! French onion soup was excellent along with their chopped salad. Several specials available to include surf and turf (delicious) along with a prix fixe choice. I chose this with my choice being the french onion soup (great on this rainy night), filet mignon, and a dessert. The filet was cooked perfectly and I chose a sauce, not because it needed it, but just to sample one of their sauces. The cracked peppercorn was excellent. Their chocolate cake was just ok. Not bad, not great. Would try something else next time.

Second visit for my birthday dinner…read more Food selection: ribeye, filet mignon potatoes, au gratin brussels sprouts I'm going to be honest the first time I came here. The food was much better and much fresher. The quality wasn't as good as it was the first time especially the steak. I was a little disappointed because the first time I came here everything was so good so this time I would have to give the food about a three out of five. ( cocktails) lemon drop & espresso martini both cocktails were very good. I recommend ordering the lavender lemon drop because the proceeds go to a good cause. Service: our server was bill he was very attentive, very smooth very professional went over their new menu items for the evening my man decided to do a very special dinner presentation for me and they went above and beyond to make sure it was special. I was in shock that I almost cried!!! The guys all had great personalities and were very engaging! like it was amazing and I love the aesthetic of Cole's It was perfect. I definitely recommend sitting outside under the fire pit. You can't beat that ambience especially if it's a nice night. Conclusion: I really like the aesthetic here I love the ambience. I love how the waiters are down to earth I would definitely come back ! Thank u guys for your service and making my birthday special!!! They did a great job also they provided me with a nice birthday card!!!

While working in St. Helena, I could never find an opening in a reservation, so here was a great opportunity now that all of us are retired. Our friends live in Clear Lake while we live in Vallejo, so this is a central place to meet. It was the best decision I made because every year for the past several anniversaries, we've gone to Cache Creek to C2. Their food and service is excellent because my husband enjoys poker, but I thought a change of scenery would be nice. And it was! Firstly, it was very kind of the staff to present us with a greeting card signed by everyone -- how sweet and thoughtful! We will cherish that! Secondly, we were very impressed with how the food/wine was locally sourced. It was incredible to hear the story about Custom, the Bull, and taste the difference between the Highland beef compared to Angus. Our waitress was "Erica S." She was engaging, personable, and very informative. My husband and I would definitely like to return to return to experience the dinner menu! We and our guests had the following dishes: Artichoke appetizer Arbororio Biscuits & Gravy Two Cheeseburgers Three Bloody Mary's Farmstead Margarita When they found out it was our anniversary celebration, the house sent over four glasses of complimentary champagne and a dish of dessert -- again, very sweet and kind of them I now understand why so many crowds flock to this restaurant! It's well worth the wait! If you have not experienced a meal there, you must definitely go now!

From the beginning, there seemed to be constant miscommunication between staff. We specifically booked an outdoor reservation and were seated inside instead. While mistakes happen, it set the tone for the rest of the evening. The bigger issue involved the wine and corkage fee. We purchased a bottle directly from the market associated with the restaurant and were told by the employee there that the corkage fee would be waived if we bought their wine. When we sat down, our server Sara told us that was not true and that we would still have to pay the fee. I explained what we had been told, and when she asked if I wanted a manager involved, I said yes. Before the manager even arrived or clarified the situation, the server opened our bottle of wine. In the silence and confusion, I reasonably assumed the fee issue had been resolved. Then the manager came over and told us we would still be charged and implied that nobody at the market would have told us otherwise. The way it was handled made my husband and I feel like we were being accused of making the whole thing up, which was especially upsetting on Mother's Day. At that point, the bottle was already opened, so we were essentially stuck paying the fee regardless. Between being seated incorrectly, the poor communication between employees, and how dismissive the situation felt, the service completely overshadowed what should have been a special meal. The rest of the service we felt ignored and there was minimal effort to accommodate. Great food alone is not enough to justify returning when the hospitality experience feels this frustrating and unprofessional.
