My girl, dinner, Caesar salad, along with crispy calamari and green beans with a cucumber jalapeño margarita
    Ali C.

Thanks to the Napa happy hour website I was tuned into the fact that this place has a wonderful happy hour. It was within walking distance of my hotel. They have quite a large bar. When I first sat down I was only provided the dinner menu, but soon after asking about happy hour I was given the secret and special menu. I got the cucumber jalapeño margarita along with a Caesar salad and an order of calamari. I was delighted when it arrived in the calamari also included crispy green beans and a tasty Sriracha aïoli. The bartender was very friendly. The playlist of music was amazing; an eclectic and funky mix of 70s and 80s. If you are in Napa, this is worthy of a visit. Happy hour runs until 6 PM and I believe it starts at 3 PM.

Wow. This place was exceptional! Don't know how it's only 4 stars. Went in for a late brunch. I really wanted the braised short ribs but the didn't have the dinner menu out. Our server asked the chef and they were able to make it for me. I ate the ENTIRE dish. I almost licked the plate clean. It was so juicy and cooked to perfection. I want to go back already. The carrots were superb. Next time I'll order extra. Partner got the chicken sandwich. I had a bite. Super juicy and flavorful. Friend got the steak and eggs and really enjoyed it. The eggs were cooked perfectly. I split the croissant with my friend and that thing was sooo good! Buttery perfection. Delicious cheese and tomato on the inside. Bottomless mimosas as well with options of orange, lychee and... I forgot the 3rd. Delicious. Already looking forward to coming back. Comfortable seats. Cute decor. Nice for a date spot. Servers were wonderful.

Vegetable wellington with a side of polenta

I had a lovely time at Napkins Bar and Grill. We had planned to eat a different neighboring establishment but the wait was too long. Thankfully, Napkins could fit the 4 of us in at the bar. The bartender helping us was amazing. Just so personable and he answered all of our questions, all while training a new bartender. A real professional. I'm vegetarian (mostly) and the bartender suggested the vegetable wellington to me and that dish BLEW MY MIND. I wish I were in Napa right now so that I could eat it again. It was all veggies, artfully assembled, and surprisingly delicious! My 3 friend also loved their food. Unfortunately I was so focused on my food that I have no idea what they ate or drank. The ambiance is fancy-ish and casual. I would go here on a date or even a solo nice dinner. I can't wait to go back and try the wellington again. My only bed was that the wine list was pretty short. I wish there were more choices.

Better than a bar, more flavorful than a typical grill location. After attending an event that I was invited to, I wanted a steak so, a quick internet search landed on the pages of Napkins Bar & Grill (NBG) and off I went. NBG is smack dead in the heart of downtown Napa. It's the place you didn't know to look for, but happy you've found it. The Service: Attentive, warm, and delightfully customer-focused. Our server offered thoughtful suggestions for an enjoyable yet light bubbly enough for me to without the consequences of getting a DUI. :) I'm not a cocktail connoisseur YET, but let's just say, the recommendations were spot on. I slowly sipped, but thoroughly enjoyed their version of a watermelon margarita and added a jalapeno'. It was sooo good. Such a great recommendation. The Food: Flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. I ordered the brunch serving of chimichurri steak and eggs. OMG! It was seasoned to perfection and cooked exactly how I asked it to be; "medium well, please, but closer to well". The Ambiance: Chic, cozy, and absolutely Instagram-worthy. Whether you're capturing a holiday moment, a girls' night, or a date night, the vibe is unbeatable. Since it's located next to a local park and another bar'ish like establishment, people watching is top tier here. Parking: Street parking only, so securing a space can take a little patience. I looped around a couple of times before finding a spot, but the "parking ballet" was well worth it once I sat down. Will I be back? Say it with me: Y E S.

Great restaurant for casual brunch! We were in search of eggs for brunch & found Napkins via Yelp! We chose to sit outside because it was a beautiful, sunny day & they have outdoor umbrellas to offer some shade too. I had the smoked salmon Benedict which comes with crispy potatoes with aioli on the side which went well with the potatoes. I had the passion-mango mimosa which was yummy. We shared the apple crisp for dessert, which was delicious. Service is helpful & friendly.

    Shrimp linguine (75% Eaten... sorry)

Went to Napkins with family for the very first time. The food was delicious! Especially the Calamari & String Beans. No one in our party had a single complaint about their food. We were especially impressed with our fantastic & very attentive waitress Rachel! She took great care of us and made us laugh too. She felt like part of the family. I don't normally like doing reviews but we were that excited about Rachel's service today. Thank you for a great birthday experience for my Aunt! Stay awesome!

Underrated restaurant in downtown Napa that I'm so glad we tried! With a reservation, we had hoped to get seated indoors but we were seated outside. Thankfully, the weather wasn't too cold but when it got breezy, staff was quick to turn on the heating lamps at request. The ambiance was wonderful for us for a casual intimidate-ish dinner. Definitely not upscale but also not underwhelming. Really depends on what you're looking for but it was perfect for us. Limited menu but entrees were executed perfectly, in my opinion. The braised pork was extremely tender and my husband enjoyed his steak! The chocolate cake was extremely decadent and I was overstuffed after that. But definitely would order it again. I docked a star because I felt service could have been a bit better but I'm not sure if it was because we were seated outside. We weren't checked in as frequently even when we wanted to order another drink but in terms of taste, everything was great for us.

I had a great time at this place. I love the ambience and the food was wonderful. I enjoyed the halibut and that was absolutely delicious. I definitely would order that again. The clam chowder on the other hand was very watery and did not have much flavor but the halibut and the espresso martini was phenomenal. The service was good and we would definitely go back.

8/16/25 Napkins Bar & Grill 1001 2nd St Ste 112 Napa, CA 94559 We stopped in for lunch on Saturday while on a road trip to Napa. There is a city parking structure about a block away. It's across the street from the river. It's a classy, well appointed bar and dining setup. Service was prompt and fast. I had the Brisket Sandwich with fries and Wifey had the special Pasta which consisted of beef, wide pasta noodles in a light sauce. My shredded brisket was tender but not very flavorful, the shoestring fries however were excellent. The pasta was okay. It was okay and value likewise. It's worth a stop if in the area and maybe repeatable.

While in downtown Napa, we stumbled upon this delightful place last minute while searching for a light dinner. Without a reservation, we were able to get waitlisted for an hour. The front staff and servers were very kind. While waiting to be seated (one hour wait), we were given water and also allowed to sit at the bar. The ambience is cozy and inviting. Dimmed lighting, definitely good for a quick bite while catching up and also good for groups. Wonderful customer service! The food was very good. We had ordered a few items to share -- Crab cakes, side order of steak and side of fries, and Habañero Chicken. Fulfilling and also delicious. It's definitely something to try if you're in downtown Napa. I look forward to trying other items on the menu during my next visit. I highly recommend this place and would definitely return in the future!

my group got lucky and we were able to snatch up a last minute reservation for 6 of us right after the christmas parade! we got a table outside, but the heaters warmed us up quickly! i forgot to take a picture of all the food, but i did get a pic of my drink, the lychee martini and it was deliciousssss. tasted exactly like lychee and not overbearingly sweet at all. my husband, daughter, and i shared the churrasco steak, bowl of clam chowder, and macaroni and cheese. everything was yummerzzzzz!! the steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and the chimmichurri (don't know if i spelled that right lol) was the perfect topping. i usually feel like clam chowders do not have enough clams in them but this one was abundant in clams and had a great flavor! we had a great experience and can't wait to be back to try more :)

Great service! Good vibe! Good food! The Vegetable Wellington was so delicious, the awesome waiter recommended. So good! My family enjoyed their food and said it was delicious.

    Mussels in delightful broth

Napkin does an excellent job. The interior is warm and only a bit slick. The server was informative and knowledgeable and there was not a single missed step. The food is worth a return visit to sample the rest of the menu. Notable dishes are the mussels in saffron and tomato reduction and the vegetarian wellington. Highest rating. The night we were there it was fairly quiet. The other restaurants had even fewer customers. This area was built for success, but I guess weekdays in February are not busy.

    So good!!!

When will cioppino be back on the menu?

Do you still have a happy hour?

No - I was just there in June 2023 and not since COVID. They also have new ownership so perhaps the HH might come back in the future.

What is your corkage policy? Do you still do free corkage on Thursday nights?

Do they still have bottomless mimosas/Bellinis at brunch?

Currently it is not something we are offering, however we are looking to the future to provide a greater experience including new offers for our brunch mimosas and cocktail program.

Does this restaurant require proof of Covid vaccine or a negative Covid test in order to dine inside?

No. Napa county is still masks regardless if you're fully vaccinated but no need to show proof to dine. Hope this helps!

I tried calling and it went to voicemail. I need to make reservation for 10 people. How do i do that because open table will not let me?

You can make a reservation on opentable.com

The ambience was genuine French countryside (with a mix of a sports bar inside that didn't really match??), but given everything else was off the charts we didn't mind. The service was 5-star level with their manners, panache, and the knowledge and experience you would only expect at a Michelin-grade chophouse. The food. Spectacular. No words. Presentation was surprisingly impressive even with their side dishes. Their New Zealand Lamb Chops were criminal. Lamb will never be the same after having theirs. It. Was. Perfect. I did not care for any of their side sauces, which were on point, but I just prefer a simpler wine sauce. The wife ordered the Filet Mignon, which was prepared perfectly and was that melt in your mouth tenderness you hope for. Their included sides were asparagus, glazed carrots, AND mashed potatoes which were all fantastic. Appetizer was a jumbo white prawn cocktail which was good (wife birthday choice ;), even though I was eying their Wood Oven Oyster Rockefeller with spinach, bacon, and bearnaise sauce. The dish had good flavor with the highlight being how fresh the shrimp tasted. Next level freshness that would resonate through the meal. The one thing I would adjust with this dish is the level of crispiness. I normally order fries extra crispy and I should have done the same with this. Next was the french onion soup and the Caesar salad. The soup was classic style with the onions being on the sweeter side. Good rendition. The salad was something that my friends had raved about and it was quite good. Nothing wrong with it but I have had better. The presentation was cool too. For my entree I had the ribeye steak. It comes with potatoes and vegetables. The steak was good but I would have preferred a higher char level. I ordered medium rare and it was closer to medium. Cooked at a higher temp for a shorter time would have been better, still the steak had good flavor. The potatoes and veggies were uninspired but there was nothing wrong with them. I order fries on the side which like the calamari could have been crispier. The peppercorn sauce was delicious. My wife had one of the specials for her entree, the ahi poke salad. This dish was delicious. Again the freshness of the seafood stood out. A terrific balance of flavors with some wasabi heat. 10 for 10. It was my birthday so the restaurant gave me a free chocolate mousse dessert which was delightful. All in all a good meal. We will likely return but next time focus on the seafood as I believe this is where Cordeiro's excels.

I got the prime rib melt sandwich and it was delicious, the meat was perfect where I was able to bite into the sandwich and not have it all pulling out. I also got the summer peach cocktail which was really good! We also got ranch for our fries, the ranch was good but very garlicky! We got the mac n cheese, it wasn't our favorite, not much flavor. Our server made sure to fill up our water cups when they were getting low. Overall, we will definitely come here again!! Especially to watch sports!

We were also undecided on where to stay hotel wise and when we saw it was at the Meritage, which is great for families, it made sense to book both the hotel and the restaurant. Our daughter just turned four months old, so this was our first date night as new parents and it did not disappoint. For us the convenience of an amazing restaurant on site at a family forward resort was great for peace of mind. We didn't have to go far to have an amazing experience. When we entered Ember the vibes were set. The restaurant is truly stunning and everywhere you look feels like you are observing art. The craft cocktail bar as the center focal point and the tables set up the way they were made for great people watching. It seemed like almost every table was a couple on a date and the energy was definitely upscale and romantic. My husband and I love great food and couldn't help but order almost everything that looked appealing to us. The wagyu nigiri with caviar was mind blowing, so fresh. The oysters were unreal. The tomahawk steak with creamed spinach, and truffle fries did not disappoint. Literally the best steak and sides we've enjoyed in a while. The mushrooms were delicious too. My husband enjoyed his craft cocktail, an Old Fashion and I enjoyed champagne with the starters and a wonderful glass of Grgich cab with the steak. We gave our compliments to the chef who made her appearance tableside, and we enjoyed a wonderful conversation with her. She recommended the baked Alaska, which was made after her grandmother's recipe, and my husband still talks about that dessert to this day. We enjoyed great ambience, impeccable food, and tremendous service. I can't wait to go back to Ember, which says so much because the dining scene is unreal in Napa and there is always something new to try. We will be back!

Nev, you there?!…read more OOF. I felt catfished by Ember's social media pics because most of our food and the patio vibes looked different. More on that later. Opening in May 2024, Ember Steak is located inside The Meritage Resort and Spa. Probably a red flag (cuz hotel resto) but with a 4.5 star rating, it seemed promising for a special occasion meal. I made rezzies several weeks ahead and choose their patio (staycation with dogs)...but when we arrived, we were told the patio was closed. The hostess checked with the manager and they ended up opening the patio. They kept the shades down in gorgeous 78 degree weather so it was dark and took away from the atmosphere. M E N U Modern Steakhouse with dry-aged steaks, seafood, sushi, seasonal dishes, and craft cocktails. F O O D * Colossal Shrimp w/ clarified cocktail sauce (4 pc-$32): https://tinyurl.com/dbt2ymnp A bit overdone but otherwise ok. I appreciate their modern twist on the cocktail sauce but it tasted like diluted vinegar. * Carpaccio Caesar w/ heart of romaine, aerated anchovy parmesan dressing, sourdough garlic croutons, black pepper crusted beef tenderloin ($21): https://tinyurl.com/56rc8ran I enjoyed the thiccc, creamy umami-rich dressing (not "aerated") but the romaine seemed to have been improperly stored (very dry) and the plain crotons needed more toasting. * Lobster Bisque w/ lobster meat, lemon oil, cognac foam ($18) Savory with the cognac foam enhancing the richness but there was no lobster meat to be found. * Mosaic Roll w/ ahi, hamachi, ocean trout, avocado, wasabi rice blossom, sweet kecap manis ($28): https://tinyurl.com/2p9nf8kn Beautifully crafted roll, tho it didn't have the mosaic look shown in their photos. It also had a slight fishy aftertaste. They made the effort to dress it up with 24k gold flakes and edible flowers, so it was disappointing that it was served with dry, gritty wasabi and off tasting pickled ginger...more like something from a bad buffet. * Ribeye, Greater Omaha ($75): https://tinyurl.com/4xhza4fb - Menu says, 16 ounce but receipt says 14 ounce - Requested rare plus Great seared crust and rare plus as requested but it was chewy - it legit felt like we were cutting the ribeye with a butter knife. * Aged A5 Japanese Wagyu, Miyazaki ($100): https://tinyurl.com/yckxevhb - Requested medium rare I find it VERY hard to believe we were served Aged A5 Wagyu -- it didn't even have the level of marbling you'd expect from Australian Wagyu, let alone true A5 Japanese Wagyu. It was chewy and bland, lacking the rich, buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture and deep umami flavor that makes A5 so distinctive. I thought maybe we were given a wrong cut but I was charged for the A5. Unfortunately, Ember seems to be the only steakhouse in Napa that serves A5. If you're down to drive 30 minutes to Benicia, hit up Chiquo & Eva's Wagyu Steakhouse. * Twice Baked Duchess Potato w/ chive foam, sour cream, whipped butter, smoked salt, lardons ($16) If you like hella rich foods...cream on top of cream, you'll love this. * Jumbo Asparagus w/ fresh herb béarnaise ($16) Tender and crisp but more your standard size than jumbo. S E R V I C E Friendly hostess and awesome food runner, Isaac. He was so warm and personable, he should be promoted to a server STAT. Apps came out fast but it felt like a long lag before we received our entrees. We noticed people who arrived after us, received their steaks before we did. I noted it was a "birthday" in the rezzies and nothing was said or done. A M B I A N C E Sultry chic, moody indoor dining area with teal and dark brown tones. IMO, it seems more like a lounge than a steakhouse. Lovely patio overlooking the courtyard but we didn't get to enjoy the view since the shades were down. No restroom onsite which is inconvenient. Overall, maybe it was just a very off night but I'm genuinely mystified by the 4.5 star rating. Ember felt like the typical overpriced hotel resto trying too hard to be trendy and extra with their food. Unfortunately, there were simply too many missteps to overlook - esp given the poor quality of some of the ingredients. Unless you're dining on an expense account or have a sugar daddy/mama...spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

While working in St. Helena, I could never find an opening in a reservation, so here was a great opportunity now that all of us are retired. Our friends live in Clear Lake while we live in Vallejo, so this is a central place to meet. It was the best decision I made because every year for the past several anniversaries, we've gone to Cache Creek to C2. Their food and service is excellent because my husband enjoys poker, but I thought a change of scenery would be nice. And it was! Firstly, it was very kind of the staff to present us with a greeting card signed by everyone -- how sweet and thoughtful! We will cherish that! Secondly, we were very impressed with how the food/wine was locally sourced. It was incredible to hear the story about Custom, the Bull, and taste the difference between the Highland beef compared to Angus. Our waitress was "Erica S." She was engaging, personable, and very informative. My husband and I would definitely like to return to return to experience the dinner menu! We and our guests had the following dishes: Artichoke appetizer Arbororio Biscuits & Gravy Two Cheeseburgers Three Bloody Mary's Farmstead Margarita When they found out it was our anniversary celebration, the house sent over four glasses of complimentary champagne and a dish of dessert -- again, very sweet and kind of them I now understand why so many crowds flock to this restaurant! It's well worth the wait! If you have not experienced a meal there, you must definitely go now!

From the beginning, there seemed to be constant miscommunication between staff. We specifically booked an outdoor reservation and were seated inside instead. While mistakes happen, it set the tone for the rest of the evening. The bigger issue involved the wine and corkage fee. We purchased a bottle directly from the market associated with the restaurant and were told by the employee there that the corkage fee would be waived if we bought their wine. When we sat down, our server Sara told us that was not true and that we would still have to pay the fee. I explained what we had been told, and when she asked if I wanted a manager involved, I said yes. Before the manager even arrived or clarified the situation, the server opened our bottle of wine. In the silence and confusion, I reasonably assumed the fee issue had been resolved. Then the manager came over and told us we would still be charged and implied that nobody at the market would have told us otherwise. The way it was handled made my husband and I feel like we were being accused of making the whole thing up, which was especially upsetting on Mother's Day. At that point, the bottle was already opened, so we were essentially stuck paying the fee regardless. Between being seated incorrectly, the poor communication between employees, and how dismissive the situation felt, the service completely overshadowed what should have been a special meal. The rest of the service we felt ignored and there was minimal effort to accommodate. Great food alone is not enough to justify returning when the hospitality experience feels this frustrating and unprofessional.

The restaurant is stunning--soft lighting, elegant details, and that effortless date-night atmosphere that makes you want to linger. We went straight for the ribeye, cooked flawlessly to order, with honey-glazed carrots and truffle fries that were downright addictive. The cocktail, bright and lemon-kissed like a perfectly balanced lemon drop, tied the whole meal together. Charlie Palmer's remains one of my top steakhouse favorites--and nights like this are exactly why.
