What happened to Celedon. It was my go to restaurant in Napa Valley but things have changed. Let's food first: A special of Prime Rib was tough to cut and equally tough to chew. Learned a lesson tonight. Before ordering-Ask the price of specials- $67. That was tougher to swallow than the actual Prime Rib. The bread was below average. We reside in the greatest area for sourdough and this effort was just weak. The wine list was weaker than I remembered. Spoke to the sommelier and wanted a dry mineral heavy Cabernet and one not fruit forward . Did not listen and brought us a moderately fruity good-for-pizza night wine. Passed on the wine. We had a reservation here but it took about 20 minutes for our table to be ready for a group of five. The restaurant has an indoor/outdoor feel which was unexpected- make sure you bring a sweater. The interior is ok - seems a little older and less interesting than the outside. I was there for a private dinner - the food was mostly very good. Made reservations for brunch with a friend. Arrived on time and it was pretty empty so we got to choose are seats. Nice indoor type of patio dining which was very nice. Service was really good for the most part. My biggest complaint is food. I ordered the chicken sandwich which the chicken was completely burnt and over done. I couldn't even eat it because it was so hard. I did tell our waiter but nothing was done. I couldn't eat the sandwich so I only ate the fries. I tried the pancakes which tasted good. What a fabulous evening and such a treat to dine at Celadon on a bustling Friday evening. Here for a special wine event with my family, there were a few other restaurant buy outs that evening as well. So wonderful to see a space and place so alive and vibrant early evening. Our party was seated in the back of the restaurant with easy access through the side door. We took a tour of the restaurant shortly after arrival and there's another beautiful and (huge) room with open spacing for larger parties/events. There's only one restroom inside the restaurant past the bar area (to note, wonderful drinks). After getting a code there are more restrooms outside, fyi! The food was superb and very on par for dining in Napa Valley. Celadon is located on Main Street, so not too bad for travelers from the East Bay. The passed appetizer were delicious ~ spicy calamari, apple/cheese crostini, and chicken lettuce cups. We had a curated menu to pair with specific wines for an event, so not sure if some of these items are typically on the main menu. We then had a choice of starter, main, and dessert. I chose the beet salad, the Moroccan Braised Lamb Shank (with golden raisin and toasted almond couscous), and the bread pudding. The way the meat pulled off the bone so delicate and juicy..perfection. We also had a pasta course that paired with one of the wines I noticed was on the menu ~ the fusilli pasta with bolognese sauce. Hearty, comforting, and so flavorful. My husband ordered the Grilled Allen Brothers New York Steak and for me, the scalloped potato accompaniment stole the show..so rich and decadent, yum! Honestly all in all, the spot is so special and quite the Napa to-do. We felt honored to have been invited to such a well executed event to this spot that we may have not been able to try otherwise. We made reservations ahead of time as we were told it can get busy at times. The place was nice and quiet with a farmhouse rustic touch but nothing short of elegant. A friend and I ordered the sangria for cocktails and it was one of the best sangrias I've had! the pork loin with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts and topped off with bacon. I got the Marsala sauce on the side and it was heavenly!! The pork loin was tender and cooked to perfection, the mashed potatoes were creamy and the Brussels had the perfect roast and perfect amount of crunch. The bacon was a great touch as well. Visited Napa for a weekend trip, and my partner made a reservation for us at Celadon for a date night. The ambiance and decor of the place was romantic and charming, and the service was great. However, the food was very disappointing for us, especially at that price point. We ordered the caesar salad and burrata to share. The dressing on the salad was fantastic, and my partner enjoyed the burrata. For entrees, we order the lamb shank and the pan-roasted salmon. Both dishes were lacking in flavor or oddly seasoned. The couscous pilaf included with the salmon was reminiscent of cafeteria rice, and the butternut puree was overwhelmingly sweet. My partner had a hard time finishing the lamb shank as well for similar reasons relating to flavor. All though the restaurant itself was great, we likely won't visit again due to the quality of the food. read more

This restaurant is wonderful. I went on a girls' night out, but it's perfect for date night as well--the ambiance is amazing for that. The food was great! All of us loved our food, from the salad to the ribs, the NY steak & butternut squash risotto, which is what I got. The chocolate cake was also great! I have to give a special shout out to the complimentary bread dip (I think it's a balsamic sauce). Best thing I've ever had with bread. I even asked if they sell it in a bottle lol. The manager, Alex, checked on us to ensure we were okay, and RJ, our waiter, was wonderful. Beautiful night ,,, Our 1st Valentine Day Celebration,,, We chose CELADON ,,, Yeah a reservation,,, Arrived ,, Was seated by a lovely lady . Immediately after seating our waiter RJ arrived w/ a welcoming approach . " May I ask you if you'd like anything to drink ?" We replied asking for hot water with lemon . The hot water was received as we studied the "VALENTINE's DAY menu. RJ our waiter approached us as we placed our order . We chose the oyster Rockefeller , Lobster Rosotto and a chocolate type torte for desert . First course arrived which was the oysters rockefeller/ sat on a bed of micro greens and dry uncooked rice . My date scooped her 1st bite of the oyster rockefeller as the micro greens had a few grains of the dry uncooked rice incorporated with the oyster which my date unknowingly bit into it and experienced discomfort . After finishing the oyster Rockefeller entree the waiter ( RJ) approached our table to retrieve our finished plates . At that time my date notified our waiter (RJ ) about the incident from biting into a grain of the uncooked bed of rice the oysters laid on . Moments later ,,, whom I'm assuming a gentleman approached our table asking about the uncooked bed of rice issue . We let it be known that we felt garnishing uncooked food on a cook plate of food may not be safe for consumers / guests dining at CELADON . The gentleman/ seemingly the manager was apologetic and friendly . We proceeded with our evening enjoying the ambiance of CELADON ... The Flavors was good overall ... However the chef needs to lay off the salt ,,, That risotto was SALTY !!! I've manage many places ... Had I been the manager for the type of situation,,, believe me I would have compensated the guest for the unfortunate and unacceptable experience regarding the use of uncooked grains on a plate of hot food . PS... I told RJ ( the waiter ) to pardon us ordering Just for 1 since I explained I'm on a Bariatric diet . Me and my wife were in downtown Napa to check out the Napa Lighted Art Festival, and I had made reservations at Celadon beforehand. This was my first time, but my wife has been here in the past and said it was good. The ambiance inside was very nice and inviting; while our waiter went above and beyond to make us both feel at home. Service was outstanding! We started with the Flash Fried Calamari which had a chipotle-chili and honey glaze; it was delicious! My wife went with the Moroccan Braised Lamb Shank which came with couscous. She enjoyed the flavor and tenderness the lamb. had. I had the Asian Sticky Ribs w/ Fries. The ribs had a nice hoisin-ginger barbecue sauce that had a nice balance of sweet and savory. The fries were really good too. For dessert, I went with the Lemon Meringue Pie. The meringue made was amazing; and the lemon filling had a nice tart taste. It was a bad start. I had reservations, and the policy clearly stated that if we didn't show up, my credit card would be charged. Yet, when I asked to be seated while a couple of our party were finishing feeding a baby in the parking lot, the host made it clear he didn't believe me that they were on their way. He even said that people "always say that" when guests aren't actually coming. Well, in my case, they were. My party was 10 minutes early, and by the time we were seated, the couple with the baby had arrived. Also, why would I lie when they already had my credit card information? It felt like the host assumed the worst and felt entitled to be dismissive because they were holding my card as a guarantee. Not a great first impression. The ambiance was nice and the service was really good, but unfortunately, the food was a disappointment. I brought a large family for brunch, and the only dishes we truly enjoyed were the appetizers (Caesar salad and calamari) and the fries. The burgers were tasteless and dry, the chilaquiles were awful (I couldn't even finish three bites--the sauce just wasn't right), and the chicken and waffles had a bland, unappealing batter. We spent over $400, which made the experience even more frustrating. Overall, the service and atmosphere were great, but the food--and the handling at the door--really let the experience down. read more

We got calamari as an appetizer and when I say it was gone within minutes... the batter was so crispy and whatever sauce they put to season it made it even better. I like that it came with ginger, I've never tried to mix those two together but it worked surprisingly well. For our main entree I ordered the fusilli pasta and enjoyed every bite! The highlight of my dinner was how amazing the service was. The staff was very attentive and polite. And we were given complimentary desserts. The crème brûlée was made with banana, not my favorite. The sorbet of the day was raspberry and it was super refreshing especially on a summer day. The blueberry cheesecake was exceptional and my personal favorite. We ordered the chilaquiles and the biscuits and gravy. Loved how well they were able to coat the tortilla chips in salsa without them getting soggy. Would've been nice if the portion size was a tad larger. The biscuits were very moist and buttery and the gravy complimented it well. We had heard from many friends that Celadon is exceptional so we truly looked forward to sharing a meal with friends here. Lucas was our server and we agreed to start with champagne - Nicolas Feuillatte from France! It paired perfectly with our bao buns and held up to the carpaccio that we enjoyed. Two of us went with the Asian Sticky Ribs and loved having the truffle fries as an upgraded side. My husband truly was impressed with the presentation of the grilled double cut pork chop. The staff trims it expertly away from and off of the bone. The mashed, shaved Brussels sprouts, and pomegranate relish were the perfect accompaniments for this dish. Fantastic and memorable dinner with six of us to celebrate our anniversary. Celadon is located down a very cute greenery covered "alley" off of Main Street - great ambience! The restaurant is covered but has glass garage-type doors that open to the greenery creating a very unique venue. Everyone at our table ordered something different and everyone enjoyed their food. I'm just confused of why they would seat us here or have seating place near a pipe that has been leaking. Service - we felt so rushed. Someone stopped by every 5 mins or so. Our waters would be 3/4 full and they would still top it off. It was hard to have a convo or enjoy our meal. They would take away our plates immediately when they assumed we were done.
