Amazing! This was my first time at a fine dining, 5-course meal restaurant and I can say without a doubt it was very much worth it! Beautiful indoor and outdoor seating, we sat outside and they have heaters set up at each table for colder weather and if you're still cold, they offer blankets which I've never experienced before! Our waiter was super fun and stayed on top of every meal and if we took a little longer than intended, there was no rush. Personally, I've never had anything that was on the menu so it was a first try for everything I order and I can say, it definitely was amazing! I gotta be so for-real this place is not as good as the student-run St Helena location. We were told this is the moneymaking restaurant for the CIA and I can see why. We went for brunch and it was a delightful culinary adventure. We ordered very basic breakfast items, and they were all beyond our expectations - the sourdough pancake was fluffy and super flavorful, the scrambled eggs were perfect, and the bacon was delicious by the chef. Some of the downsides were that the surface was terrible and we didn't have a server to greet us for about 10 minutes after we sat down. There was no regular sugar when we ordered coffee nor a tea spoon provided and we had to follow up with a server. Claudia saw our friends walk in and ordered complimentary starters (salad, focaccia, and fritto misto--all tasted fresh from the garden!) for our table to welcome us into the classy yet casual (but noisy) atmosphere. My partner and I ordered from the Culinary Institute of America's $55 3 course restaurant month menu. The white bean croquettes and beet salad were flavorful and filing. A very fun dining experience with excellent quality food. There's a good amount of parking, but it is shared with other businesses and can get crowded. The location has both indoor and outdoor seating available. We were able to make a reservation through OpenTable and were seated very quickly upon arrival. Most of the staff were very friendly and they were able to answer all of our questions about the menu items. All of the items that we ordered had very thoughtful presentation. Every dish was colorful and tasted as good as they looked. Brunch isn't usually my favorite, but I really enjoyed all of the dishes that we ordered. The beignets were by far my favorite item. They came out hot and fluffy and had the perfect level of sweetness. The portion sizes varied a little bit, but our group shared all of the dishes. They were definitely enough to keep someone full. I really had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately this was our group's worst meal on our recent Napa trip. It was compounded by mysterious billing issues that took weeks to resolve as well. Walking up, the place was beautiful. I didn't go inside for long, as we had reserved an outside table. We had to wait a long time for someone to come to the table and even offer us waters. Waiting a long time ended up being the theme of the night, as there were super long waits between courses, between appearances of our server, and for drinks to come out. Some of the food tasted good, but arrived to the table cold. Some of the food tasted bad, but arrived to the table hot. Everything was super hit or miss, and there were too many negative notes and service issues to overcome. We had a pre-fixe menu that I'm not sure who set, and some of the dishes were just baffling. The bean puree appetizer was really bad and just left a bad taste in my mouth. The mushroom "steak" was bad and arrived to the table cold. The rockfish with mussels would have been super good had it not arrived to the table lukewarm. The bone-in ribeye was one I was really looking forward to. The steak was overcooked, yet was still somehow cold when we got it. It was also super tough and chewy. I guess when you think "CIA" and think of some of the chefs that have come out of there, maybe my expectations were too high? The way they price the food also meant my expectations were high. The website touts that their staff is "some of the best in the business" and many are CIA alum. The best thing of the night was the strawberry white chocolate mousse. We split the check evenly four ways, and then for some reason a member of our party ended up getting charged for 3/4th of the meal, even though they ran all 4 cards. At one point on my card, I had two pending charges from them and a pending refund from them. We had to call multiple times to get it straightened out after the trip. read more

We were really expecting a lot from CIA being that food is their teaching! Food was cold, bitter, had funny after tastes, and nothing that should have ever been plated and served. Took forever to get our food and when we got it, it was cold. The fish had way too bones in it and was not nicely de-boned, was definitely not made to eat elegantly. We had to send several dishes back, including the salad that was bitter, the gnocchi that was hard and the pasta that was hard. The best dish was the tempura broccoli. The server was not very communicative to why there was such a delay in getting our food. We asked to speak to a manager so we can provide them feedback, he did come over and explain that they had some large parties that were causing the delay. He did apologize and took off the items we returned off our check and gave us 1 free drink and a clam dish that was too salty. Clearly there is a breakdown in their service because seems everyone was having issues that night. I came to The Grove for brunch with my kids, nephew and husband. From the moment we walked into the restaurant, everything was perfect. My daughter loves kitchens and learning about food and she was invited to sit at the counter while we waited and watch the open kitchen. At our table, our service from Julia was great. She was attentive and lovely. The food was incredible. While at the counter, my daughter and I had picked out our meals already, while watching what came over the pass. She ordered the shrimp and grits and I had the Strata. My girl loved her shrimps and I thought they were very good. But omg the Strata was something extraordinary. It's like an egg soufflé and it was just bursting with umami. After a few bites it was a bit much for my girl but I ate a bit if a crazy amount. My son had The Basic which is a "normal" breakfast of eggs, bacon and potatoes. But just perfectly made. Highly recommend the Grove if you are in Napa! We stopped by to celebrate our anniversary and the staff made it extremely special for us! We opted for indoor seating, which was right next to glass doors that open to the outside. We ordered the Giardiniera and the Bel Fiore Burrata. I really enjoyed the Giardiniera because the pickled vegetables had the right amount of acidity and sweeteners with the added beets. The Burrata was standard in my opinion but the fried basil leaf definitely showed the culinary expertise of the Grove because that was a delicious addition. For mains, we ordered the Rigatoni Carbonara and the speciality pizza by Chef Sbarro. The pizza was slightly soggy at the bottom, which was a little disappointing because the meat and cheese blend was delicious. I WILL NEVER get over the Rigatoni Carbonara because the Guanciale was so crispy and yet moist on the inside. This is one of the best pastas that I have had in my life. The desserts were a let-down unfortunately: the strawberry tiramisu and Peach Pavlova. The strawberry tiramisu was pretty much a strawberry sponge cake because you couldn't really taste the mascarpone. The Pavlova was so overcooked that you couldn't not cut into it at all. But from 5pm - 6pm the restaurant wasn't very busy, and they only had a 4 Course Menu.... They had an Oyster Carbonara that was extremely bland... I let them know, and a Sous Chef came out to ask about the issue. I explained, and told him he should try it before serving more guests.... And then our main courses came out quite a while later. I ordered Antelope medium rare, but it came out medium, and was also extremely bland.. Also my wife ordered chicken fried quail, and it was also bland.... I informed Ben, the Manager on duty of my dissatisfaction with the dishes. And that I would probably never eat at Copia again. I explained that I wanted to just inform them so that they can adjust the dishes for the next guests.. Honestly, I expected them to remake my dishes the way they should have been. Overall, a solid dinner spot if you are in the area. The space is beautiful and modern and there is plenty of parking. I loved the artwork and the ambiance. Menu changes regularly so you know its going to be fresh. Service had its ups and downs. We never had to ask for water refills and generally very attentive service with people checking in; however our waitress didn't seem very knowledgeable on the menu. Presentation of the food is beautiful. We tried the scallop crudo and pesto gnocchi for starters. I am a huge fan of scallop sashimi so I enjoyed the crudo and the nice touches of flavor with he pickled radish and garlic chips on top. The pesto gnocchi has a nice twist with the spinach verbena sauce which was a nice base and the whole dish tasted super fresh. For my entree I got the chicken leg cacciatore paired with a semolina porridge. Chicken was cooked nicely with good flavors throughout but I was excited as chanterelles were listed as an ingredient but I could not distinguish it in the sauce. I also didn't think the olives suited the dish. If you are looking for a fine dining experience, you will likely be disappointed. After walking through Oxbow Market, we wandered into Copia at three in the afternoon. It was that weird hour where you missed lunch but you don't want to spoil your dinner. We ordered one salad an and iced tea. What arrived was a thoughtfully arranged plate of greens snipped from the garden steps away: multi-colored leaves of lettuces, nasturtium petals, perfect basil leaves, dill fronds, tossed evenly with a preserved lemon and thyme vinaigrette--stacked high with a blossom on top. Each bite was delicate, fresh and delicious. After exploring the incredible teaching resources at Copia, we walked around downtown and reserved kayaks at the river walk. Then we returned for dinner! The staff was surprised and our conversations continued. The Lion's Mane Mushroom Steak was an incredible feat, especially if you have seen the mushroom at the farmer's market. It transformed a furry white sponge via a sous vide marinade into flavor packed, soul satisfying bites. We also loved the Beet Agnolotti, tender little pillows of fresh pasta in a tangy tarragon crema. A guest chef shaped pizza dough and toasted it with creative toppings, and then there was the risky Garden Grape Pavlova. It was beautiful and full of playful textures, and carried the scents and taste of the air all around the valleys here in October. In a teaching kitchen such as this, lies an incredible opportunity to learn and experience from passionate new chefs. Went here for brunch on a Saturday prior to wine tasting. Here are some highlights of our experience of The Grove. Food: The items that were ordered were the zeppole, tofu scramble, ricotta scramble, and egg tomato w/ toast. The food came quickly and served hot. I personally ordered the baked eggs in tomato w/ toast and it looked very much like a Turkish shakshuka. It was served hot on a skillet with two pieces of focaccia bread. Taste-wise it was good, nothing too strong. The toast was a bit on the harder side but it was still good. I also tried the tofu scramble and it was a bit bland for my liking, so probably won't order that again. The ricotta scramble was ordered by 3 people in our table. They all like the scramble part, but they all said the guanchale was a bit too sweet. They also wished it came with toast as it pairs well with it. The zeppole ordered for the table were like little donut holes with a strawberry preserve dip. It was cake-like in texture and a nice starter for those who are craving something sweet. Drinks: The drinks that were ordered were a hazel-tini, pineapple and orange mimosas and a lime martini. I only tried the hazel-tini, therefore I cannot speak for the other drinks but I can say that I did not hear any complaints from the people that ordered the other drinks. The hazel-tini was good, basically an espresso martini. I didn't necessarily taste much of the hazelnut tones that it probably should've had so I don't think I will get this again as it is basically just an espresso martini. Ambiance: The place was clean and pleasant. It is located inside the CIA @ Copia and had plenty of space for seating. The bathrooms were clean as well. Service: The servers we had were very attentive and ensured that we were having a good experience. They always checked in on us and provided us with whatever additional items we asked for. Me and my bff dined here during the March 2024 Women's History Month chef alumni series, featuring Laura Ozyilmaz. 3 Courses for about a little over $100 pp including tip and tax, $90 base rate (we prepaid).
