Great flavors, great presentation, but def not good for family-style options for dinner. $2 per person charge for bread and garlic dip (which is delicious) plus their filtered water. Not sure if it's optional but they did just put the bread on the table and found it was added to the bill at the end. I guess it's determined when you don't get bottled water? We got a round of the Passionfruit Margs, which were a hit, as well as their tasty negroni's, and their Prickly Bear Sour (sadly no bear ice cube tonight). Ordered the Octopus, Calamari, and Shaved Brussels Salad for starters. We followed with three pasta dishes: the Agnolotti, Carbonara, and the Spaghetti. Then followed with The Branzino and Short Rib. Nestled in a very cute Italian themed town with easily accessible parking this was definitely nice for aesthetics .It's a beautiful establishment with a very high end feel. We were sat almost immediately. We had a view of the kitchen which was cool. Definitely on the pricier side but everything seemed almost Michelin level. Service was good though toward the end it took us forever to get our check. Like other restaurants we partroned- no one askes how you would like it. They just put everything on one check. We have always loved Bottega, but this time was the absolute best! It is so hard to put into words how good this food was! We went for restaurant month where you get three courses for $60... It did not disappoint! Pretty sure this is the classiest most beautiful restaurant around. And the service is just top-notch! After that there was an anniversary card that was placed on our table. The tables are placed quite close to the other tables. You can easily eavesdrop into other peoples conversations with meaning to. so it's not as intimate as some may like. Service was fine although they could be a little bit quicker. We're pretty understanding so it didn't bother us too much. Overall food and wine were good. If you want to save a few bucks on wine you can bring in your own and just pay a corkage fee. I opted for the prix fie menu for $60/person as it was Napa restaurant month. I'm knocking off a star because they charge $2/person for the bread. Seems pretty ridiculous. We started off the night with a round of Espresso Amartinis. Surprisingly, I like the citrus notes in this cocktail. Coperto - Get the bread! Calamari - Super crisp and loved Nero aioli pairing. Risotto - Perfect sear on the fish with a creamy risotto. Brodetto ai Fritti di Mare - This seafood stew is filled with seafood! The hard piece of bread in the broth was confusing as it's not propped on the side, but rather sitting within the broth. We all were wondering what that was! Wagyu Tomahawk - Perfect cook at a medium & perfectly sliced to share. Conserva d' Anatra - I'm not a big fan of duck, but this was pretty good! This had the right cook and crisp on the duck. Carbonara al Carbon - I'm a big fan of charcoal but this is the very first time I've had it in a pasta. The level of hospitality and professionalism set the tone immediately and made the whole visit feel effortless. I sat at the bar with Tobin, who was excellent--friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaging. He brought great energy while also being attentive and dialed in throughout the experience. I started with the Prickly Bear Sour, made with St. George gin, yellow and green Chartreuse, prickly pear purée, and a fennel-infused ice cube shaped like a bear. Not only was it visually impressive, but the balance and flavor were exceptional. For food, I had the calamari, and it was easily the best fried calamari I've had. The pasta sauce is light and the freshly made pasta wound into a tight nest. Delicious. I think this might be my favorite Italian restaurant in the greater Bay Area / Northern California area to date! From an ambiance perspective: the covered patio felt refreshing but still secluded from people walking by, and it was dim without being too dark. It was busy and lively without being too loud. Great date night spot! From a service perspective: we had a great waitress. She was personable, had good recommendations for us, and was attentive without being overbearing. For food: we loved everything we ordered, including the complimentary bread with garlic olive oil dip. The octopus was tender and the Caesar salad was flavorful without being over-dressed. The carbonara with activated charcoal pasta was unique and SO delicious. The pasta was al dente and the carbonara was the right eggy consistency, and had a good balance with the salty guanciale. Upon getting seated, a big spider flew down a web and landed past my head onto my menu. My fiancé ended up killing the spider. I really enjoyed the sunchoke risotto here. During our trip to Napa Valley, we wanted to try a restaurant in Yountville. We found Bottega through good reviews, but I'll be honest, I wasn't blown away with the dishes. The ambience was great and service was good, but the food tasted a bit bland. Having a week of dining at fine dining locations like the various Auberge properties, dining at Bottega may have seemed underwhelming. The food wasn't bad, but not great either. I've had much better pasta at our favorite places in Orange County and I recommend this place if you are big on vibes and ambience to spend time with friends and family. We came in expecting a great experience, but service and seating issues really took away from the night and now I'm sick! Service started off on the wrong foot. It took about 10 minutes after we were seated before anyone acknowledged us. When our waiter finally came over, there was no introduction or explanation of the menu, just "Are you ready to order?" While the restaurant was busy, the lack of basic hospitality stood out. What completely derailed the experience, though, was how the manager handled our seating issue. Our group of seven was seated directly in front of a door that leads to the outdoor dining area. Every single time that door opened, which was often, cold air blew straight onto me and my friend. It wasn't just a small draft. It was a full blast of cold air to the face and body while we were dining (imagine an hour + of this). I became genuinely uncomfortable and even said out loud that I was worried I was going to get sick because of how cold it was. The waiter tried to help at first after I asked him to keep the door open. In my mind, I'd rather have consistent air rather than inconsistent. Anyway, the manager noticed and instructed the staff to not keep the door open. When the manager finally came over to address me, instead of acknowledging how uncomfortable we were, he said to me, "We're concerned about keeping the other customers warm." I was honestly stunned. Because at NO point was the back and forth was the gush of air going towards them. Anyway, I responded, "And what exactly do you think I'm experiencing right now? I'm uncomfortable and cold" At that point, I didn't feel heard at all, brushed aside and made to feel the other customers (who didn't report anything btw) were more important. Anyway, his solution was to offer to move our table. Keep in mind, we were more than halfway through our meals, had drinks and plates everywhere, and were a group of seven people. That didn't feel like a real solution - it felt like a way to make the problem go away instead of actually addressing it. After that, he said he would "try" to keep the door closed, but cold air still came through multiple times. Eventually, they blocked the door entirely and used another entrance. Which honestly made it worse because that showed this could have been avoided the whole time. We spent over $100 per person and would have happily stayed longer and kept ordering drinks, but we were so uncomfortable that we ended the night early. And here's the part that really frustrates me: today, the two of us who were seated by that door are sick. Exactly what I said I was worried about while we were sitting there, being blasted by cold air, while communicating this to them. At this price point, I expect more than just good food. I expect awareness, care, and a manager who actually listens when a guest says they're uncomfortable. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. read more

The puff pasta dough was so light and airy. For my main course I had the Pollo alla diavola. The chicken was probably one of the best I have ever had. I wish there was a little more of the cipollini onions that was advertised with it. Mine only had a few small pieces. I think this dish may need something else added, like crispy potatoes. We went on a Wednesday night to celebrate the 35th anniversary of our first date. We had reservation, arrived on time and were seated right away. They don't seat us until 7:55 which was a bit annoying since reservations were already made. We were seated outside and our table was clean and nice. Our server was very kind and gave us lots of recommendations for food. We got multiple types of appetizers from calamari, squid, salad and more. Overall appetizers were pretty decent, very small portions for a high price. Now to the entree, I decided to get one of the most popular, the Carbonara al Carbone. It was strictly black because of the charcoal, thought it was interesting to taste. It was SO SALTY, like the bacon makes it salty but each noodle bite felt like straight salt. Luckily I paired it with my salad to defeat the salty taste but couldn't overall finish it. The noodles itself tasted raw, it was hard to bite into it and felt like potato starch. The gnocchi was also AWFUL, it looks like cheese curds! It was huge, thick, and had the flavor of a cooked pasta shell. It was a miss. Our table didn't get to finish everything because it was either too heavy, salty, or just overall poor quality. What did make this place incredible was the the steak, it was super flavorful, though it was too fatty and less lean. The wine was also good and the service was kind for that! He came out to introduce himself and explained his passion and expertise with meats. Cannot recommend highly enough. Bread comes with a Parmesan butter with chili flakes. Still a classic spot in Yountville. I wondered if it was still as good without Michael Chiarello, and happily the answer is a resounding yes. My husband had the espresso short ribs which were fantastic and creative. I had the lasagna (yum) and a delicious pear salad. Everything was beautifully presented and the restaurant was super festive for the holidays. They also had an excellent Christmassy drink that tasted like cider with vodka, citrus and cardamom. Located in the quaint town of Yountville, where you can walk up and down Washington Street to taste wines, shop, or just enjoy the scenery. The restaurant atmosphere is lively and filled with couples, families, wine tasting folks, ladies who are on a girls spa getaway, etc. The service is always great.Today was better than usual. Our server was amazing! She was professional yet personable, and provided wonderful service - making sure our food came out timed perfectly. My husband had a glass of Antinori Chardonnay that was fantastic! I had the "Ruby" cocktail which was refreshing and light - perfect for this 80 degree weather. We ordered: Pesce Crudo del Giorno which was Blue Fin Tuna with tomato water, watermelon and chive oil. It was an absolutely delicious and light appetizer. Cuori di Carciofo - Crispy artichoke hearts with a fabulous aioli. Spaghetti alla Sophia Loren - This is probably my favorite pasta! The pasta was al dente. The tomato sauce with the blistered tomatoes was phenomenal. I have no words. How they make tomato the star of this dish is mind blowing. The special was a risotto dish with mushrooms topped delicately cooked halibut. Everything was bursting with flavor. For dessert, we ordered the Tiramisu' alla "Tra Vigne" which was beautiful and rich but not super sweet. Everything was amazing! This is why we come back every year. read more
