We did the lunch and wine pairing here based on a recommendation from a nearby winery and wow this was my best meal of the trip. The wine paired perfectly and was so drinkable. The food was AMAZING!!! We added the fresh mozzarella and it was so tender and chewy and perfect. The arugula salad still lives rent free in my mind, the perfect combination of flavors. The lamb chop was phenomenal and I'm not big on lamb in general. The dessert was panne cotta with salted caramel and this also continues to live rent free in my mind. Service was great, attentive but not rushing us. The inside had a lot of seating options, we were in a booth which felt very cozy. We made a reservation ahead of time online. This is top of my list to come back to in my next visit.

You have to get the fresh mozzarella!! I had heard about it but doubted it would be that amazing but I was wrong....it's that amazing!! I'm not a big toasted bread person so the brought me lettuce and it went perfectly!! I also went to Prague last year so I was shocked too see absinthe on the menu so I had to have that. The service was fantastic too. They are attentive but never intrusive. The location is absolutely fantastic as well. Right off the main road and your can do a tasting in the gift shop beside it.

The bar and restaurant are beautiful along with the rest of the grounds. When making reservations try to get outdoor seating if weather permits. They've done an outstanding job creating a beautiful outdoor space with the landscaping. Indoor seating is rich and dark while the outdoor seating is open and spacious. The food is excellent along with their impeccable service. We went for lunch and had a wonderful meal leaving pleasantly full.

It just keeps getting better! We went in for dinner last night and Brasswood delivered an 18 on a scale of 1-10. For starters, the restaurant is lovely to walk in to. It's not huge and institutional, it's beautiful and welcoming. A great place for a celebration (that was us!) or just to meet friends or have a nice evening away from the crowds lower in the valley. Our waiter was outstanding and made some great recommendations from both the menu and the wine list. We had oysters and an epic starter (that isn't on the menu) a fresh mozzarella al minuto. Ask about and don't pass on it! For our entrees, we had risotto with duck confit and herb crusted lamb chops with two (exquisite ) sauces. The staff and service at Brasswood are exceptional people. They made our evening special. The back of the house is some mysterious combination of culinary masters and artists. We are grateful that they've set a high standard and held it! We are fortunate to live within striking distance of this Napa Valley classic!

After visiting Rombauer winery in St Helena, we asked for a recommendation for lunch and our server told us about this place...mainly for the fresh mozzarella. We arrived about 11:30 am and got seated in a nice booth with our Friends. We started off with the mozzarella appetizer, I believe not listed on the menu. They came with that first and presented table side. This dish was absolutely amazing...I wish I would have ordered this thing for lunch. Everyone at the table just loved it. Hub got the arancini with pesto... this was so wonderfully fresh and the fries that were also amazing. I got the Brussels sprout warm salad...extremely tasty... and our friends got the pizza and they really applauded that. This is really a great restaurant with great food and I will be sure to return if in the area....

We came here during beginning of December for some R&R and we were pleased with our experience. The food was delicious; we shared everything including the short rib sugo, the duck leg risotto, fritto misto (super delicious), the persimmon and prosciutto salad and of course their popular panna cotta dessert. Their menu rotates and is seasonal so the dessert images and other items that you see on Yelp does not reflect their current options. I saw a seafood pasta on Yelp (what better place to read about a restaurant than Yelp!) and was told it was no longer on the menu. Nonetheless, everything was delicious and we wish there were larger portions bc we were a bit hungry that evening after a long but restful spa day. The service was not bad, it just seemed to be longer than the other tables. The ambiance was ok, it was a little too dark for our liking but thankfully we got to sit in a comfy booth. The hostess as first seated us in a not-so-comfy 2 seater with the chairs feeling sunk-in. We had a reservation and came early. We will probably be back in the future when we are in the area again.

Brasswood was recommended to us, so we stopped by after our wine tasting which was close by. I love duck so the duck bolognese captivated my interest right off the bat. The ambiance is dark and kind of cabin-like, very cozy. We ordered the mozzarella bread (off-menu item that was hyped up to us), fried arancini balls with pesto sauce, and the duck bolognese. Both the mozzarella bread and fried arancini balls could have used a touch more of salt. The duck bolognese was good, but to be honest it tasted like a regular bolognese with zero hint of duck, which was a bit disappointing. Service was okay, I did have to ask for my water to be refilled. In the future if I were in the area after a nearby winery tasting, there's a chance I may stumble back here and try a few different items.

Lamp chops

Just love coming here, one of my favorite places in Saint Helena to dine. One of my favorite dishes was the fresh melted mozzarella on a toast drizzled in olive oil. The lamp-chops were tender and seasoned well. The amromatizato pizza had the perfect crust. This place is still consistent on food quality and service.

This is one of our new favorite spots! The food was amazing and the staff were so kind. My husband and I were wine tasting close by and they were able to get us in even though it was extremely busy. You have to order the fresh mozzarella and the short ribs with pasta. Can't go wrong!

We came here for a "buy out" where the entire complex is rented for an event. This is an amazing property! We started at the Pizza Patio where they had three different types of pizza (all wood fired). My favorite was the pepperoni and tomato. They took us on the Cave Tour next where we saw the wine making equipment and the 17,000sf cavern that took them five years to dig out. They store about 20 different varieties of wine in the Cave in barrels (French Oak). We stopped by the Restaurant where they had cheeses and a charcuterie. A football game was on the TV in the barn while we taste the various items. They had a house-made pasta station and a mozzarella station in the Barn. The mozzarella was some of the best I've ever tasted. There was a sensory tasting room near the Cafe that featured glass globes filled with different elements that reminded you of the aromas of the Brasswood wines. We ended the night at the Cafe. They had a table there with an array of delicious desserts including macarons, cobbler, and a rich chocolaty dessert. I can see why people have events and weddings here. It's an excellent venue.

Thank you Yelp for all the reviews for Brasswood! This was the perfect place for us! We wanted lunch but my husband is craving salad and I was open to anything. We found a few options online, but Brasswood had more of the ambience who were looking for. It's on their property, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, next to their tasting room and the retail store. They also have a lovely café with a bakery next to the bar + kitchen. We sat outside on the patio. It's a lovely fall day, a bit overcast if anything. The mozzarella cheese is their signature dish and you have to get it! It looks not so special but it's served with hot off the grill toasted baguette that's baked onsite at the bakery next door. The EVOO, salt and freshly ground pepper all go so well together. They sliced it at the table and the put over the bread at the table for you. It's so delicious! Can't wait to go back and order this again! The pickled beet salad was on point. It was served with watermelon radishes, arugula and lots of toasted pistachios. So so good! My husband loved his wedge salad with iceberg, bacon, cherry tomatoes, Gorgonzola, and blue cheese dressing. Everything was picture perfect! I'll definitely come back again!

Affogato
Katelyn W.

We had a really great experience at Brasswood for lunch between tasting! First up was the off-menu hand-pulled mozzarella that we heard was a must from everyone. It was a fun experience as they plated it right at your table. The bread was so crispy and salty and it perfectly complimented the creamy mozzarella and savory oil. We split the brussels sprouts and the risotto with a confit duck leg. Both dishes were so flavorful and you could tell the kitchen really took their time on them. The brussels sprouts had crispy bacon and a nice nutty flavor with the cheese on top. The duck leg was fall off the bone in the skin was so crispy! The risotto was a little rich, so it was perfect to share with another person. We ended our meal with an Affogato, and it was the perfect sweet to a savory and rich lunch. Service was quick and many people were around to serve food and keep our drinks full. The only issue we had was the amount of flies. I know we were outside but a little spinner to deter them would have been nice!

While working in St. Helena, I could never find an opening in a reservation, so here was a great opportunity now that all of us are retired. Our friends live in Clear Lake while we live in Vallejo, so this is a central place to meet. It was the best decision I made because every year for the past several anniversaries, we've gone to Cache Creek to C2. Their food and service is excellent because my husband enjoys poker, but I thought a change of scenery would be nice. And it was! Firstly, it was very kind of the staff to present us with a greeting card signed by everyone -- how sweet and thoughtful! We will cherish that! Secondly, we were very impressed with how the food/wine was locally sourced. It was incredible to hear the story about Custom, the Bull, and taste the difference between the Highland beef compared to Angus. Our waitress was "Erica S." She was engaging, personable, and very informative. My husband and I would definitely like to return to return to experience the dinner menu! We and our guests had the following dishes: Artichoke appetizer Arbororio Biscuits & Gravy Two Cheeseburgers Three Bloody Mary's Farmstead Margarita When they found out it was our anniversary celebration, the house sent over four glasses of complimentary champagne and a dish of dessert -- again, very sweet and kind of them I now understand why so many crowds flock to this restaurant! It's well worth the wait! If you have not experienced a meal there, you must definitely go now!

From the beginning, there seemed to be constant miscommunication between staff. We specifically booked an outdoor reservation and were seated inside instead. While mistakes happen, it set the tone for the rest of the evening. The bigger issue involved the wine and corkage fee. We purchased a bottle directly from the market associated with the restaurant and were told by the employee there that the corkage fee would be waived if we bought their wine. When we sat down, our server Sara told us that was not true and that we would still have to pay the fee. I explained what we had been told, and when she asked if I wanted a manager involved, I said yes. Before the manager even arrived or clarified the situation, the server opened our bottle of wine. In the silence and confusion, I reasonably assumed the fee issue had been resolved. Then the manager came over and told us we would still be charged and implied that nobody at the market would have told us otherwise. The way it was handled made my husband and I feel like we were being accused of making the whole thing up, which was especially upsetting on Mother's Day. At that point, the bottle was already opened, so we were essentially stuck paying the fee regardless. Between being seated incorrectly, the poor communication between employees, and how dismissive the situation felt, the service completely overshadowed what should have been a special meal. The rest of the service we felt ignored and there was minimal effort to accommodate. Great food alone is not enough to justify returning when the hospitality experience feels this frustrating and unprofessional.

The dining room was nearly empty, making it feel as if we had the entire place to ourselves. Service was warm, friendly, and professional without being stufy. Ambiance matches the food. You are enmeshed in a peaceful sanctuary, enveloped by the lush greenery outside. Soft, tasteful music accompanies. The food is very good, at times superb, with attractive, precise platings. Appetizers and shareables shine. Free Bread Course (5/5) - outrageously tasty. Some of the best focaccia I've had, with their absurdly good estate olive oil to dip in. Difficult to not eat too much of this. Meadowood Farms Spring Green Salad (5/5) - $22 - Ridiculously fresh vegetables picked from Meadowood's own garden. The top-level freshness reminded me of vegetables at Single Thread. The accompanying estate olive oil is some of the best I've had. Liberty Farms Duck Leg Confit (4.5/5) - $42 - Tough for me to ever pass up duck confit, and this version did not disappoint. The accompanying blackberry beet reduction was perfect. Arroz Caldo (3.5/5) - $19 - The only slight disappointment of the night. As we had a reservation for dinner at Bouchon, we wanted something smaller so my wife and I got the house salad and the cup of chili. The salad was a good portion and loaded with toppings including hard boiled egg, homemade croutons, cheese, etc. And dressed just right. The "cup" of chili was a good sized bowl. It was the best chili I've ever had in a restaurant! Plenty of beef with a mix of cubed (chili cut) and ground beef. The spice level was just right, no added hot sauce needed, topped with cheddar and raw onion. My wife couldn't finish hers, but after finishing mine, as much as I wanted to I couldn't either! However, a very humiliating experience happened to me at a restaurant (not Rutherford Grill) that had me vomiting ( thank God on the floor) a truly embarrassing situation! So, it had been recommended by my health practitioner to have pro biotic drinks, rather then a soft drinks. My friend and I went to Rutherford bar and grill once a week. On this particular evening, we were seated, I asked for a glass of ice for my pro biotic drink which I took out of my purse (I bought it at Wholefoods minutes prior to going to restaurant ) She immediately said you can not bring your own beverage inside. I showed her my un-opened bottle,"it's lemon ginger for my stomach disorder its not alcoholic". I respectively pointed to the bottle. She kindly departed and said that she would get back to me on whether or not I could drink it, after speaking with her supervisor. Meanwhile roughly 10 or fifteen minutes had passed and the gal never got back to myself and my friend seated at the table. Fifteen minutes later, a tall attractive women (possibly 40 to 45 years of age) with a white chef top and black pants came to our table. She had long black straight hair and fiery red lipstick. She came to our table, and asked, if there was anything we needed. I was surprised and asked, "are you a chef? this is unusual your coming to our table". She ignored my question, and asked again, "was there anything we needed?' I explained that my friend had ordered her drink already and that I had asked for a glass of ice. "by this time close to twenty minutes had passed since the gal said she'd ask her supervisor) So, my thought was "oh I guess I can drink my pro biotic". So, my friend got her alcoholic beverage and a glass of ice was brought to me. I poured my drink into my ice filled glass and took one sip...when miss tall attractive women with the chef uniform approaches me..sadly her expression was jealousy and happiness as she spoke to me as though she was "getting off", on telling a genuinely kind and tall blonde woman, "give me your drink" my friend and I were shocked! I explained its a pro biotic for my stomach challenges, its not alcohol." She smiled a fake smile and said "hand it to me, beverages are not allowed to be brought into our restaurant!" tears pricked at my eyes out of shock and embarrassment, because fellow patrons were looking at me like I had done something wrong. I said..."well then can I go outside and drink it? this was an expensive drink for my stomach, I just bought it had Wholefoods a few minutes ago." She sternly said, "No. Consider this a warning or never come back again!", as she reached over me and took my bottle and my glass away! My experience was beyond humiliating. Needless to say we did not eat dinner their and my friend did not drink her margarita. I am a Spiritual life Coach. I value and love, treating people with compassion and respect. Jealousy is ugly, no matter how attractive a women may be! Needless to say my friends and myself after several years of eating there: have never returned. This situation happened 4 months ago. It was topped with fried scallions, and stuffed with green onion cream cheese. The worked said it must've been meant for me...it was the last one of the day! 3) Pain au Chocolat - Visually stunning. The layers around the pastry make it crackly and so decadent. The downside? The actual chocolate! It was a skinny line of chocolate in my pastry, barely non-existent. Loved the pastry, the "au chocolat" part? Needs work. All in all, I was extremely pleased by Under-Study! I love trying "novel items", and I heard they have a Lobster Corn Dog?? Guess that will have to wait til' next time!

Overall? Totally worth the drive. Understudy feels like the kind of place that could only exist in…read morethe Napa Valley. Clean, curated interior, great energy, and the kind of pastry case that immediately makes you abandon any sense of restraint. Come hungry because the menu rewards excess. Some items stood out more than others, but honestly, everything ranged from good to excellent. The coffee was dialed in, the pastries felt intentional instead of trendy, and the whole experience had that rare combination of polish without pretension. Absolutely worth returning for Parking? Lot We had: Coffee (5/5): exactly what good cafe coffee should be. Balanced, flavorful, and structured enough to stand up to the sweeter pastries without getting lost. Smooth profile, clean finish, no bitterness Bacon Sampler (Benton's, Nueske's, Hill's, Candied) (5/5): sounds gimmicky until it hits the table. Then you realize someone actually thought this through. Each bacon had its own personality, but the candied bacon was the standout. Perfect balance of smoke, salt, fat, and sweetness Smoked Trout Rillettes (5/5): this was excellent. The smoked trout had real depth without becoming overpowering, and the creme fraiche completely changed the game by adding a cool, tangy richness that balanced everything out. Spread onto the bread, it created those perfect bites where texture and flavor all lock together at once Calistoga Crunch (5/5): absolute chaos visually, somehow beautiful anyway. It looked like something your toddler proudly makes during Christmas and you hang on the tree because you weirdly love it. But flavorwise, this thing was seriously dialed in! Sweet, crunchy, salty, textured, layered. Every component worked. One of the better cookies I've had in a long time Strawberry Tea Cake (5/5): dense in the way a good tea cake should be, but still light enough to avoid feeling heavy. The strawberry flavor came through naturally without turning artificial or overly sweet. Simple yet elegant, and incredibly easy to keep eating Pain au Chocolat (4/5): still good, but the weakest of the group. The pastry leaned a little brittle and slightly dry, lacking some of that buttery pull and softness you want from a great pain au chocolat. The chocolate itself was solid, and it was still enjoyable overall, just not something I'd specifically come back for
