There was one available to greet us, there was no where to sit, when my food arrived there were no plates or anything to eat with. The entire restaurant is unorganized and an unwelcoming place to visit. Not a great option for the price. Will not go back. UPDATE for Angela, To clarify: when we arrived, no one acknowledged or seated us, so we walked through the restaurant ourselves to find someone and ask where we should sit. By "nowhere to sit," I meant there was no direction or organization regarding seating. Our food was brought out on serving trays/boards, but we were not provided plates, utensils, or napkins for our family, including our children. We ended up eating with our hands because no one checked back with us aside from removing seasoning shakers from another table to place on ours. The experience felt unorganized and unwelcoming because we consistently felt overlooked throughout the visit despite being polite and patient the entire time. I understand small businesses rely on reviews, which is why I only described our experience honestly rather than exaggerating it. This was just another bad experience with the poorest service and complete ineptitude from the staff in the kitchen! This group needs to make some serious decisions about how they run an kitchen! We came in for a late dinner after traveling all day. My wife ordered a Caesar salad, arancinis, and a pizza to go for our daughter who is arriving late. Those were all OK. We tried lunch at Palisades Eatery on Valentine's Day 2026 after enjoying a relaxing morning of mud baths and massages at Golden Haven Spa, our go-to spot in Calistoga. When we arrived, Palisades Eatery had a lengthy line to place an order. While waiting, we could see into the open kitchen where the staff appeared visibly stressed and unhappy - not much of a welcoming atmosphere. As for decor, their 2025 Christmas tree remains sadly propped up in a corner. We found seating at a table that appeared to have been cut in half and pushed against one of the oddly blocked-off bay windows facing the street. During the long wait for our meal, we noticed the deceased and dying insects accumulated inside of the bay window. Unfortunately, this did not enhance the ambiance of our dining experience. Our Cobb salad, Roasted Beet salad, and Calistoga Caesar sandwich eventually arrived. After taking a few bites, we looked at each other and smiled, realizing we were both underwhelmed. None of the dishes stood out compared to the many other lunch options in Calistoga. In fact, after taking one bite of the Calistoga Caesar sandwich, my husband suggested that I skip it entirely. Following the posting of my unbiased review, I received a message from Palisades Eatery's "business manager" Angela R. which felt unnecessarily aggressive and slightly unbalanced. We were leaving the area after visiting a few wineries, and this was our choice for some eats. It hit my requirement, pizza. It's a cute place inside, and I particularly like the old photos on the walls, on the way to the bathroom... Way in back. The woman at the counter was very friendly, and even allowed me to sample a couple of the beers (IPAs) on tap. While I don't remember the brewery, it was whichever one was most local. Pizza was great. I, and Thuy, forget which sandwich she had, but all of it got gobbled up (I don't think it was turkey). So here's a little 411. If there is an elderly lady having lunch by the window, unless you want to become embroiled in all sorts of lengthy conversation, on a wide variety of subjects, stay away. We stopped in here today after visiting the petrified forest nearby, and what a great experience we had! This cafe was adorable! Really quaint and nicely decorated. The server was fantastic. She was a team of one but rockin it! The food was unexpectedly fantastic. I had a Caesar salad which was better than a typical Caesar. Wonderful service, they were able to substitute a veggie patty into the salad instead of the chicken, and it tasted very good! Made the salad more substantial and yummy. The veggie grilled sandwich was so nice as well, the sauces and melted cheese were delicious. The ambiance is modern farmhouse vibe with a clean aesthetic. Ok, first time here...actually first time in Calistoga! The Big N'Tasty chicken sandwich was delicious. Fried chicken cutlet with a BLT basically. The onion rings were great not greasy and very crispy. Had the house ice tea...has just a hint of berry taste, very good. Staff were great, food arrived pretty quick and just as ordered. The place is not huge and parking downtown wasn't the easiest but it was worth it. You order at the counter and they will bring you your food. There are a couple of small outdoor tables also. Just arrived in Calistoga and decided to stop for lunch. We ordered a cheeseburger with fries and a turkey sandwich. The place is simple and clean, and the lady who took our order was friendly. While waiting for our food, I noticed many regulars coming in she greeted them like old friends, which gave the place a warm, local feel. The cheeseburger was excellent, with fresh, crisp vegetables and fries that stayed crisp until the last bite. The turkey sandwich was also fresh and delicious. I love a good Mom and Pop restaurant and Palisades Eatery did not disappoint us. We needed some fuel to combat the several glasses of wine we enjoyed at our tasting at Myriad Cellars. Easy to order at the counter and instructed to grab a seat and they would bring out our lunch. My wife and I split the Italian Sandwich, bought some chips and opted for water. The sandwich was outstanding and big enough to satisfy even when split. Service was fast and friendly and water was cold and plentiful. Bonus was our ability to find a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. Our visit to Palisades Eatery was nothing short of 5 stars. What a wonderful spot! The service was outstanding--Angela was incredible and SO kind, warm, helpful, and professional. The food was super yum and served very fast. Vegans beware! I ordered the Beyond Burger which is listed as vegetarian. I specifically told the server that I was vegan and would need modifications. I asked about the bun which he said had egg in it. I requested the sourdough bread as a bun substitute and ordered only lettuce, tomato, and onions. I told him I did not want the special sauce or pickles because I assumed the special sauce probably had mayonnaise. The burger is not listed as a cheeseburger. It is clearly listed as a "Beyond Burger." It came with cheese and pickles: two things I didn't want. I very apologetically went back and requested changes. I explained again that I was vegan and did not eat cheese. Another server told me that it is listed as a Beyond Cheeseburger, which is absolutely not correct. When they brought it back, it was obvious they had just picked off the cheese as I could see it still on the burger and on the bread. I don't like making a fuss about things, and only went back to ask for changes on the insistence of my family. I just ate what I could. But the more I have thought about it, the more it bothered me so here I am to warn other vegans. read more

Have you been to Palisades since they completed their fabulous remodel? We just went to their grand reopening in mid March (2025) and it is completely transformed. In the past, I have only stopped in to the 50s diner themed Café to grab a burger or some pizza after wine tasting so I was completely shocked to see the transformation.. it is gorgeous! Gone are the checkered tablecloths & 50's diner. Replaced with a sleek, modern , contemporary and classy bar area & intimate grouped & communal seating. The lighting, Decor & colors are soothing & inviting, you want to linger.... The menu still offers burgers, pizza, salads , sandwiches & wraps but has expanded to include some appetizers and other pasta mains from 5 to 9 pm. We tried a delish sausage pizza & a Thai Chicken pizza. The wine and beer list are solid and I hear that soon they will be serving cocktails. Be sure to Check it out next time you are in downtown Calistoga! read more

The food here was absolutely wonderful - simple yet satisfying! I love club house sandwiches and their version was pretty close to perfection with the right amount of everything plus avocados. And their fries were delicious! The restaurant is quaintly cafeteria style where you go up to the counter to order and the food is delivered to your table. My sister & I were on a road trip adventure, and stopped by Calistoga. We decided to walk the town 1st to see what restaurants they had to offer. I was in the mood for a deli sandwich, and there was a man who was walking out the entrance, and he said "they have great sandwiches", so we decided to give this place a try. We sat at the bar, and Angela came over and showed us their paper menus since the print on the menu hanging over the bar itself was way too small & hard to read. I decided on the Pesto Turkey sandwich on Rosemary Focaccia $16. Angela told me to pick out what type of bagged kettle chips I wanted, which made me think they were included, but I later found out there was an extra charge of $2.50 My sister went with the Greek Salad $15 plus she added Chicken $4, and extra Cucumber, Olives, & Tomato $1.50 Some of her romaine lettuce had brown spots, but she still enjoyed it. I used the restroom which is down a long hallway towards the back. The bummer is they only have an electric hand dryer, which I'm not a fan of spreading germs, so I walked back down the long hallway with my wet hands, then I came across some cloth napkins. The place itself was clean inside, but the front windows were very deceiving since they looked more like a jewelry store. They really need to put something in the front windows to show that they are a restaurant. read more

Stopped by with a work group after a wine tasting at Castello di Amorosa. Nice casual Italian, pizza, sandwich shop in Calistoga. High ceilings and not too noisy inside. Order at counter. Some reasonable wine and beer choices also. Ordered the Italian cold sandwich, hot wings and garlic fries and it was very tasty. read more

To start, we a party of 7 had to clean a table to sit & not knowing that we had to order ourselves collectively found the situation strange. My friends and I grabbed quick evening snack at Palisades Eatery in Calistoga. The service was quick and fast and located in convenient downtown location. I ordered the southwest chicken wrap. It was just like a typical south west chicken salad mixed and added to a tortilla wrap. To my surprise it was a cold dish. It tasted alright but it was very oily. Probably too much oil in the salad dressing. The fries are decent. My friends ordered burrito wraps and beyond burger. They said it tasted good. It was open till late evening so a good stop if you want to grab something quick. The ambiance is clean and the cafe well maintained. Update: Thank you Angela for reaching out to me. I understand the dressing situation, it was still tasty tho but since am conscious of my food I happened to notice it. Changing the rating to 4 stars. :) next time am in Calistoga will visit your cafe again for sure read more

Think we went on an off night as 2 locals suggested we go. Pasta Carbonara was kind of bland and the egg plant parmigiana came out cool and had to be reheated. Tough to get the bartenders attention. Monday night NFL playoffs resulted in a few drunk locals. Probably should have sat at a table vs the bar and ordered pizza. Adding a comment after the response came back. As I said I think it was an off nite. We tried to order order water several times from the bartender. The lady next to my wife was drunk and obnoxious to her directly. The eggplant and cheese was served cold, all I asked was that it be reheated. When it came back was much better but by then though we just felt like leaving. We didn't take anything to go as the hotel doesn't have microwaves. This was our experience unfortunately. read more

We ordered the "Big and Tasty", meatball sandwich and fries. The texture of the bread was good, filling was delicious. I enjoyed both sandwiches but liked the Big and Tasty more. The sandwiches were a good size and very filling. I ate about 3/4. The garlic fries were very hot and well cooked (crispy without being hard). Overall a nice lunch. Will come back. read more

My wife and I were in the area doing wineries and wanted a sandwich for lunch so we went here. You order at the counter then they will bring you your meal. We got sodas from a grab and go fridge and ordered sandwiches. I ordered the marinated tri-tip and my wife got the BLT. The bread for the tri-tip was great. It tasted fresh like it was homemade. As for the sandwich it had nice flavor but the chipotle mayo completely overpowered the meat. I didn't try my wife's BLT but it looked good and she said it was enjoyable. We did have a bit of a miscommunication with the waiter. We thought we ordered fries but they never came so I asked and they were not on the receipt. I am not holding that against the restaurant because maybe we weren't clear when ordering but the reason we were confident we ordered them was because of the price. It was over $50 (with tip) for two sandwiches and two sodas, so we figured fries were on that tab. As enjoyable as the food was that is a lot of money for lunch to not even get a bag of chips or something as a side. Overall we enjoyed our food and the vibe but the price would probably mean we would try something else if we were in the city. read more

Food is always great and consistent! We had their brussels sprouts. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a tasty dipping sauce. We got a bbq pork sandwich, big and tasty, blt, garlic fries, Thai pizza, all meat pizza, chicken strips. Reasonably priced and food does not disappoint. Food was good but we ordered linguine with shrimp and it had pepper flakes but it didn't state it on the menu. My wife just ate the shrimp. The waitress offered to remake the dish but the rest of our party was half done. Waitress spoke to the manager about our order and told him that pepper flakes should be added to the dish details. Manager didn't even stop by to apologize or at least give a free dessert. We were still charged for the full meal. If you eat there make sure to ask what ingredients are used in the food you order. Calistoga is not far from Safari West, so it was a good place to go for lunch after African animal viewing. It was hot that afternoon so we were looking for a place that was cool, as well as, you know, "cool." The Palisades Eatery was perfect!
