If you're in Calistoga you definitely need to eat at Lovina's. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was so welcoming and cozy. The Heritage Pork & Beef Bolognese was sooo good! And the dish is a very good size. For appetizers we really enjoyed the Three Cheese Artichoke Dip and the Wine Country Bruschetta. Both were a good size to share with 4 people. For dessert I highly recommend getting the Sampler! The was service was good, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant vibe is quiet, calm and intimate. They even had blankets available in case you are cold! There was seating mostly inside, on two different floors, and some seating on their patios. I suggest making a reservation. Definitely a must try!

If 1 could give 6 stars to the mushroom bisque and handmade pasta Bolognese I would. Absolutely life changing. Dinner service fell a bit flat, staff wasn't too attentive. Also wish they'd improve the ventilation indoors, it was extremely stuffy and hot. But we dined on Wine Wednesday and got a good deal on a bottle with our meal. I will continue to dream about the bisque & bolognese until the next time we return. Lives up to the hype mentioned by Wine Spectator. Do not pass up the chance to eat here. Lovina rocks!

Incredible Food, Heart, and History! Lovina has become one of my favorite spots in Calistoga. Located in a beautiful 1904 historic home, the ambiance perfectly captures that cozy Northern California warmth. I especially loved the heated outdoor seating on the first floor, making for a perfectly comfortable al fresco dinner. A few highlights from my visit: I truly admire their "no-tip" model. They provide the staff with real living wages and benefits, and that's reflected in the excellent, genuine service. I started with the Sonoma Apple Salad (requested no blue cheese) and absolutely devoured it. So fresh! As someone who is lactose intolerant, I haven't been able to eat lasagna for years. Seeing the Impossible Sausage Lasagna on the menu was a game-changer. It was savory, delicious, and so satisfying to finally enjoy one of my favorite dishes again! Don't forget to say hi to the "Hog Killer" bear statue in his party hat on your way in. This place has so much character! I highly recommend Lovina if you're looking for great and healthy food in Calistoga!

This place gets hospitality right. 20/10 experience! The owner reached out in advance to learn about us, our dietary restrictions, preferences, and what we were celebrating. She put together a very thoughtful custom tasting menu, starters to desserts were all fully gluten free for our friends. We had a great little table on the patio with overhead heating. Every server you meet is so friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding. Would absolutely come back!

Delicious! I ordered a berry mocktail, the fish croquettes, lobster mac n cheese, and the apple salad. What worked: - the ambiance was great. Lots of cozy seating, strong outdoor heaters, and warm lighting all around - service was speedy and very friendly - they have great mocktail options! I love restaurants that can make something special for people who aren't drinking - the apple salad was hefty, full of bright flavors, and each ingredient was crisp and crunchy - the lobster Mac n cheese was decadent without being too intense or heavy - they are a no-tip-expected place, which I really love. Restaurant staff should be paid a reasonable wage without having to rely on tips - there were so many vegetarian and vegan options. I think this is the perfect restaurant for a variety of dietary needs - the Hot Mess dessert was amazing. Lots of flavors, good size, and fun to eat! What didn't work: - this is on the pricey side, but I don't mind too much because the portions are reasonable and the staff are being compensated appropriately Overall, I'd absolutely return, lovely place!

We wanted to wrap up our mini Calistoga staycation with a nice meal and after much research, landed on Lovina. It's easy to make a reservation online, but you probably won't need it. We came at 6PM on a Sunday and were seated immediately! Sourdough Levain (4/5) - the bread itself is okay, but the real star is the whipped kale pistachio pesto butter! It's so yummy, I wish I could bottle it up. It's butter but with all the earthiness of the greens. It's topped with a black flaky salt - chefs kiss! Impossible Sausage Lasagna (3/5) - would pass on this dish next time. The lasagna was cooked well, but something was missing IMO. Felt like it lacked some flavor, maybe should have added the four cheese blend! Heritage Pork & Beef Bolognese (5/5) - our favorite dish of the night! Definitely worth the hype, get this! Pasta is perfectly cooked, and the bolognese sauce is hearty with just the right amount of kick. Service was also great. We had a 9 month old with us and they were very accommodating. They also gave us a handwritten note for our anniversary! Thank you for the thoughtfulness!

Spectacular. It's in the cutest little downtown area of Calistoga and everyone was so friendly. The outside patio was full so they sat us inside on the window. We ordered brunch and coffees and everything was so fresh and tasty. The service was fast and the food was delicious. We tried the breakfast sandwich, French toast, breakfast burrito and the omelette of the day. We had lattes and cappuccinos and all were honestly delicious. We would definitely come back and enjoy brunch or dinner here. The inside and outside were cozy, modern and fresh.

After an exhausting day of wine tasting (Har Har), this girl needed takeout and the comfort of no more people. Aka cancel the reservation family, we getting to go! Easy to order online and easy pick up! Yasss to the Bohemian esthetic but clean modern vibe? The outside and inside is gorgeous. Food piping hot and piping good! Big win for our family: vegan options and they were delicious! The risotto was, *chefs kiss. Highly recommend! ***Get that reservation if u are serious about eating in house!

Came here for dinner on a Friday night after a long travel day, and this place was absolutely delicious. Service was prompt, the food was absolutely delicious! The patio area was lovely, a bit cooler but had warmers on and blankets available on request. This restaurant is also unique in that it is tip free! Servers and staff and paid wages and not dependent on patron tips. Cannot recommend this place enough, will be back if we return to the valley!

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Fancy-casual with something on the menu for everyone. Our friends had a gift certificate to this place so we decided to check it out for dinner while in the area. We'd made reservations so were greeted and sat right away in their lovely patio area. We were excited to try their vegan offerings and ordered the following: - Endive Cups (housemade hummus, whipped avocado, toasted seeds) - Nova Terra Plant-Based Cheeses (three nut-based cheeses with fig preserves, honeycomb, kalamata olives, crostini) - Aubergine Athena (gluten free panko crusted Japanese eggplant, english cucumbers, kalamata olives, summer squashes, kale herb salad, vegan tzatzki) - Impossible Sausage Lasagna (gluten free noodles, "mozzarella", charred tomato sauce, bloomsdale spinach, wild mushrooms ) Everything was excellent and came in surprisingly large portions. It was quite spendy, but we thought the quality and quantity of food, along with the excellent service made it worthwhile. Also note: they do not accept tips at this restaurant. It was a great place to share a special meal with friends; would definitely love to come back should the occasion arise.

Wow! wow! wow! From the greetings at the door to walking out. This was an amazing dinner. The staff was very welcoming and pleasant with awesome service. Such a cute place with inside/outdoor seating. The menu has something for everyone with a dietary need. Definitely make reservations since this place gets packed. I loved every dish that was prepared and highly recommended to anyone.

Japanese eggplant with finely ground panko: yummy veggies.

First time to Lovina based on our friends who live locally. What a find! In an old home with a real charm to it. The story of the history and how the restaurant got its name are quite intriguing. There's a nice patio one covered and one that's open. The covered patio has heaters all the way around. We had the wine risotto with short rib and the Japanese eggplant for entrees. Both were fabulous. The fried mushroom bites were a tasty app. The Hot Mess dessert - brownie and ice cream with caramel sauce were a perfect way to finish the meal with my cappuccino. We had a chance to meet the owner, Jennifer. She does it right, there is no tipping. Best of all, her employees all get to take advantage of health care, and 401k benefits!

Wagyu short rib. Superb. My wife flung a little sample of her appetizer on the plate, that is in the upper right. Otherwise perfectly plated

Is the impossible Bolognese sauce served over gluten-free pasta? Is the restaurant air-conditioned?

Are the dinner portions big or a good size? I do not mind paying high prices and I do see they are tip free which I assume adds to that but I prefer not to pay high prices for small bites. I appreciate any answers. Thank you.

The portions are quite adequate. The food is terrific and it's a great spot in Calistoga!

    Is Lovina Dog friendly?

Yes, pet and kid friendly! We came as a family and brought our dog, they happily sat us on their outdoor patio, brought the dog a water bowl and even gave the kids some blankets since it was cold that evening.

    Not open anymore?

Yes, we are open for dinner nightly from 5-9. We are not yet open for brunches; hoping to open in May, but staffing has been very challenging since the fires/ Covid. Come see us for dinner!

This restaurant is located among Brasswood's other businesses: winery, bakery cafe, and some retail store (that I didn't check out). there's a large inside dining room with interesting decor, and there's an outside seating area in the back as well, which overlooks the courtyard in the middle of all the business (which has a nice water fountain thing in the middle). the middle of courtyard looks like it's set up for weddings. I opted to sit outside since it was a nice day as did most of their other customers at the time. Our server was polite and professional. - fresh mozzarella with toasted bread: I don't know why this isn't listed on the menu since it's the biggest reason to come here. Fresh pulled mozzarella that they cut up tableside and serve on some freshly charred and toasted bread. It's not just nice, fresh mozzarella; they season it properly along with a drizzle of olive oil. So good. - heirloom tomatoes with balsamic vinegar: this is also not on the menu, but it's probably seasonal and based on the availability of good quality tomatoes. delicious. a perfect complement to the mozzarella, really. is it pricey at $12 for a few pieces of tomato? yes, but I'd do it again. - Short Rib Sugo (slow-cooked short ribs, carrot, & onion sofrito, mushrooms, cabernet sauvignon, parmesan, house-made pappardelle pasta): this was a solid dish. basically, what you'd expect. nice and rich. I think they used a touch too much rosemary when seasoning this dish, but not enough to ruin it. - Duck Bolognese (sonoma duck, classic mirepoix & red wine, pecorino romano, house-made pappardelle pasta): this was also delightful. it ate similar to the short rib sugo in that it was this rich, delicious pasta dish. I found this one more to my liking compared to the short rib sugo, but I think they're both fine dishes. - The Brasswood Burger (meat, cheddar cheese, & ketchup only): this was a variation of their standard burger that was ordered for a kid. I had a few bites of it. while the bun was just plain great, the patty itself was dry & overcooked. they didn't ask for the doneness of the meat when we ordered, and perhaps, they just hammered the thing since it was being served to a kid. - French Fries: these were served with the burger. they were very nice. thin and crispy. good fries! - Chocolate Mousse Cake (cranberry sauce, chantilly cream, amaretti cookie): this was very chocolately. almost too chocolatey, but the cranberry sauce and chantilly cream played a nice foil to the richness of the chocolate. I wasn't sure if I'd like the chocolate & cranberry combination, but it worked nicely. A good dessert for chocolate lovers.

The duck confit was crispy skinned, moist, and not greasy, on a delicious bean base and roasted onion and tomato base. Finally, our desserts were the perfect finishing touch; sweet, delicate, and balanced. Absolutely recommend!
