    Breakfast sandwich. Hashbrowns.

Loved our breakfast. Not only was the food delicious but service and ambience was great! We had breakfast sandwich and eggs Benedict. The green avocado salsa was so good!! Highly recommend

Ok. So I can't find the pictures of our food. We had burgers and onion rings. Wanted something heavy enough to lead into the wine tasting. They were the BEST burgers ever. They were perfectly seasoned with all the right toppings. The waitresses were extra nice and it was a very cute lil spot we found on the way to the winery. The burgers tasted like the ones you would make at home. We all know those are the best kinds. My cranberry juice tasted like they had a tree it back. I wouldn't hesitate to go back if I had the chance.

Unassuming but absolutely delicious breakfast spot in Calistoga. Recommend to stop in and load up on a hearty breakfast before heading off to wine taste. Their breakfast sandwich alone is so satisfying. Fresh scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon and even fresh lettuce on toasted sourdough. Served on a bed of crispy hash browns. Loved this so much! Also tried the 2-2-2 plate with 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 pancakes and that was amazing as well. Everything tastes wonderful here. This place is a well oiled machine and Roger is a great owner, friendly, personable, and also runs around helping turn tables. Look forward to returning again soon!

A bit of a wait for a Sunday morning but once seated service was efficient and the wait for our food wasn't long. Nice solid place for brunch and some coffee. Glad we stopped by before heading home from Clear Lake.

This would have a 4 or 5 star rating except for one sour note. This seems to be a local favorite based on how busy it was and how familial the staff seemed with the customers. Love the decor and the story behind the name as well. Our food was pretty good, and our waitress was awesome. She was very gregarious and engaging. However, one person in our party ordered a Belgian waffle, and it was thick, uncooked, and inedible. They ended up taking a couple of bites before giving up. When we told the waitress, she said she would take care of it and ended up taking $6 off the bill, while the item was $15. Seemed unfair and performative.

    Hair in food

Totally dissatisfied! I ordered biscuits and gravy with two fried eggs on top. It was the most disgusting BISCUITS and gravy I have ever had in my life. There was ONE biscuit with maybe a few tablespoons of gravy. The eggs were not on top. The eggs were hard like hockey pucks and when I got to the bottom, I found a hair in my food. I am absolutely disgusted with this place right now and will not be going back the best part about it was the hashbrowns until I found the hair. WHEN I ORDER BISCUITS AND GRAVY, I WANT BISCUITS! Not one measly biscuit, and for Christ sake, put some gravy on it. STEP UP YOUR GAME.SARAFORNIA!

It was my first time here and I enjoyed the food. I had the chicken fried steak and it was delicious. The gravy is out of this world good. Service was good the it was a clean establishment. 5 STARS.

My boyfriend and I stopped here after a long road trip and the food was absolutely amazing. Staff was so kind and welcoming, food came out fast and the building and decor is fantastic. Felt so nostalgic and comforting. I got the Benedict and he got the biscuits and gravy- it was absolutely delicious. Loved the gravy- and the hash browns were hands down probably the best I've ever had. The eggs were fantastic and I loved the bread they used for the toast. Thanks so much for having us! Don't forget to stop by this place!

I popped in for breakfast. I ordered a deconstructed breakfast burrito (no tortilla) with bacon and a bloody mary. My breakfast and the service were great!

Based on the things that I have heard about this place, I was heading home from Ukiah to Sacramento, and decided to route through Calistoga just so I could have a late breakfast/early lunch here. I was not disappointed. The place is popular. Parking is street parking only. At 10:30 AM on a Monday, I was lucky enough to get the very last parking spot, on the block where the restaurant is located. When I came in, there were only a couple of tables left. Saying that, if you have to park farther, it's worth the walk, if you have to wait, it's definitely worth the wait. I liked the space. It's a medium sized space. It's a cheerful space, and everybody was friendly. I was served quickly. I decided to go for the vegetarian hash. It also came with goat cheese and pesto. Oh my God, it was a total home run. The veggies were seasoned well, and they were not too firm or not too mushy. They were just right. It sat on a bed of both hashbrowns and home fries, the potatoes were delicious and a perfect texture. The two eggs it came with were perfectly over easy, the goat cheese was tangy, and the pesto was rich. The toast was a very good quality sourdough, and even the coffee was great. For this amazing meal, the price was extremely reasonable, and they even offer a military/veterans discount. I would route my trips home through Calistoga again just to stop here. Heck, I need to stop here and just see more of this pretty little town. Thank you for a great meal.

Nice service. Nice old school diner. Good food. Cool old place. Good coffee. Place has been up and running for a while and that adds to its old school charm.

    Veggie scramble and luis burrito
    Bansuri P.

This was the perfect place after our hike. We ate the veggie scramble (the carrots were soooo fresh) and we loved how there were potato pieces and hash browns. Eggs were great, and the sourdough toast was nice and fresh. The luis burrito was cheesy with mushrooms, great veggie option! The sauces were also a great condiment. The service was great, very attentive waitress. The ambiance was very cozy, but we sat outside to enjoy the beautiful weather!

Cafe Sarafornia is a unique dining experience for anyone visiting Calistoga. The diner's interior is full of artwork depicting California's history. On this visit, I ordered a crab cake benedict. I've been here several times over the years and the service is typically pretty good. Definitely try the "goat cheese" with whatever you order. I'm not a cheese person but this homemade cheese is absolutely worth the visit alone.

How long do they serve breakfast?

Thank you for the question and breakfast is served all day.

Do they serve gluten-free pancakes or gluten-free waffles?

We do not. Both our pancakes and waffles are made with typical flour.

    Do you serve gluten-free bread/toast?

Yes. They do. My wife had it and it was amazing. You wouldn't have thought it was gluten-free it was that good.

We had about a 10-15 minute wait, which honestly wasn't bad considering how busy they were. The menu had a lot of great-looking options. Two friends ordered the chicken fried steak, another ordered a veggie/Mediterranean-style omelet, and I had the carnitas huevos rancheros since I'm gluten-free. Portions were generous and the food was good, though not necessarily something I'd rave about. The biggest issue during our visit was the service. Drinks and ordering started off fine, but when the food came out only two of the four meals arrived. My friend and I ended up waiting quite a while longer and had to flag someone down to check on our meals. We were told the ticket must have gotten mixed up and our food would be out shortly. By the time our dishes arrived, our other friends were basically done eating. One side order was also forgotten. To their credit, they did remove that item and gave us 50% off the delayed dishes, which we appreciated. I completely understand that busy restaurants can get hectic, but better communication and table follow-up would have made a huge difference. Overall, cute spot with decent food and good portions -- just hoping the service experience improves.

One of the managers, Stephen, stopped by our table and welcomed us with complimentary glasses of Prosecco for the birthday celebration, which was such a thoughtful touch. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the evening. We started with the Pasta Fritta con Prosciutto--crispy, rosemary-scented pasta dough wrapped in prosciutto with mascarpone espuma, honey, and Parmigiano Reggiano. It was the perfect balance of savory and sweet. We also shared the Caesar Nero, made with little gem lettuce, black garlic, and Parmigiano crostini, which was fresh and flavorful. For cocktails, we both ordered the Porch Punch. Made with Redwood Empire Pipe Dream 101, yellow peach, oolong tea, lemon, vanilla, and clarified using the milk punch process, it tasted like a refreshing peach tea. The etched ice cubes with wine glasses and utensils were a small detail that made the presentation even more memorable. For our entrées, Face ordered the Salmon Risotto, while I had the Carbonara. The carbonara is topped with an activated charcoal Parmesan tuile, and while it looks dramatic, it doesn't change the flavor at all--it simply adds a beautiful presentation. The pasta was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Bottega didn't just serve us an incredible meal--they rescued what could have been a very disappointing birthday dinner. The hospitality, service, and food were exceptional, and I'd happily make the drive back to Yountville again.
