This restaurant and its service get a well-deserved 1 out of 5 stars. My boyfriend and I came in not realizing the restaurant was part of a lodge, and from the moment we walked in, the experience was extremely unorganized. No one greeted us or acknowledged us at the entrance, so we were left standing around unsure of what to do until a busser finally asked if we were dining in. He brought us water, but after that, no one came back to check on us or even give us menus. We actually had to grab menus ourselves from the front stand. After waiting quite a while, we had to call the busser over ourselves to let someone know we were ready to order. He told us he wasn't our server and just stood there looking at us, so I asked if he could please get the server for us instead. He responded that the server was "a little busy right now." Meanwhile, the server was behind the bar continuing whatever they were doing and never once acknowledged us. At that point, we felt completely ignored and unwelcome, so we decided to get up and leave. Basic customer service, communication, and attentiveness would have gone a long way read more

Fleetwood is the restaurant on-site at the Calistoga Motor Lodge. It's a good option, particularly for a hotel restaurant. We ordered the following (in the order of how much I liked them): - bee sting pizza - pork and beef meatballs - coq au vin - roasted brussels sprouts - tiramisu - smoked apple galette Service was great and patient. We had a number of small kids with us so it was hectic and chaotic, and I appreciated their patience with us. The food was very disappointing and flavorless; we ordered the Pappardelle- short rib Bolognese sauce, Parmigiano Reggiano, Bloomsdale spinach for $28 which ended up being flat tasting pasta with frozen meatball looking meat, we could not even finish the plate. We ordered the "Wine train" for $23 which ended up being 3 glasses of wine, cheaply filled 1/8 of each glass which made us wonder how ridiculous it was to name it wine train. Ended up overpaying for 2 below average dishes and the pathetic wine train over $80 after tax , and over $90 including the tip. Way overpriced for below average food. Had dinner last night at Fleetwood. As usual, the food was excellent, the menu is excellent, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the environment outside is very nice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Unfortunately, the service, which was very friendly, was really noticeably not what we'd expect on a Thursday night when there were few people seated. We stayed at the hotel for two nights and had breakfast here both mornings. The food was ok, but not great. The bruschetta omelet and Calistoga omelet were both bland - zero seasonings or even salt added into the eggs. The eggs were nice and fluffy though and the fillings were prepared well. Both just badly needed flavor. The second day I ordered the salmon Benedict. The hollandaise sauce tasted strongly of mustard? I'm not sure if that's in fact what they added to it or if it was something else, but it overpowered the salmon and tomato flavors and all I could taste was the sauce. The eggs were perfectly poached though. My husband enjoyed his eggs and bacon, but for 20-something dollars it came with two of the tiniest pieces of toast. Like the size of bread pieces you might get in a restaurant bread basket ahead of a meal. Service was good the first day and sub-par on the second. No one came to check if our food was ok after it was served on the second morning. No one asked if we wanted another cup of coffee or tea on either morning. After we were done and our plates were cleared away we sat for so long waiting for our serve to bring us the check that another server was confused and asked if our food had come out yet. For the price, I expected more attentive service. I think we'll eat somewhere else if we stay at this hotel again. read more

Thursday June 11 at 5 pm I had the Gnocchi and a diet coke. The Gnocchi came without delay. I tasted it and decided I wanted some parmesan cheese and salt. I tried to flag down the lady that brought the Gnocchi to table 3 times when she walked by but she was focused on something else. Finally after more then 10 minutes the lady server showed up. I asked where she had been and why she hadn't come by to check. She brought the Parmesan cheese and salt, but the Gnocchi got cold. I tried to see if there was a manager and didn't see one. The wood fire sea bass was bomb. It was marinated in an Indian spice blend of some kind so it had a really lovely flavor profile that was spicy but not overwhelming (almost like a tandoori version). Came here for a quick bite but was sorely disappointed. Walked in to be greeted by no one. Four other parties were inside. We walked around having no idea where to go or who to talk to. Found the one employee who was walking around bussing tables. He seated us and gave us water. Sat there for 10 minutes with no menu, and the employee who sat us was nowhere to be found. I eventually get up and search around for a menu. Went to the unattended counter up front, and took a menu myself. Found the one employee who seated us and asked him if we could finally order. He told us that he is not the server. Full stop. We have a moment of awkward eye contact which prompted us to say "Okay, well who is?" He points to another gentleman who is across the room in regular clothing, and said "He is." We asked "well can you get him for us please?" The poor kid then said "oh well he's kind of busy right now, but I'll ask him and see if he can help you." He seems to go to the server he pointed out to us, say a few words and then continue on with his duties. We watch the so called "server" who is probably too busy to help us, carry on with his side quests. We had a reservation through Open Table for my birthday dinner. Confirmed it twice. Arrived 10 minutes early to a confused staff who were wondering who we were and why we were there. I could understand their confusion because there was a private event in full swing. They were polite as they turned us away, so the one star is for them, but that left us scrambling for another option at the last minute. Fortunately we found a wonderful option and the night was saved. Hilariously, a couple days later, my husband received what seemed like an automated message about our "missed reservation." The side gnocchi was light and pillowy, mixing well with mushrooms. The tiramisu was good. I went with a white wine the waitress recommended and I was happy. Upon serving after another long wait, we never were checked on again to see if we needed anything. We just had to keep asking for every little item, from water, to glass ware, etc. Please be more proactive, attentive and accommodating to guests, Fleetwood staff. It was hearty & loaded with seafood: mostly fish and some shrimp, clams, mussels...all deshelfed. The only version thats superior is tardish Grill. It also came with buttery sough dough bread. Burrata with grilled peach was good, but prob needed more seasonings (olive oil, balsamic vinegar, etc..). It also came with good salad & more sour dough bread. Bucatini pasta was excellent and loaded with lots of mussels & clams, with Italian sausage to boot. The sauce was lighter yet provided enough creamy texture. We decided to try Fleetwood based on Yelp reviews. We were seated outside to enjoy the weather and placed our drinks and food order. My wife got the Buffalo mozzarella pizza and I the salmon. She loved her thin crust offering that had a really good sauce and garnished with fresh basil. Last minute road trip led us to staying at this motel with Fleetwood attached to it. We had dinner on our last evening at Fleetwood and were pretty disappointed. The service was not great. One of our entrees was not correct even though the server confirmed after taking our order. By the time my order was corrected my sister had finished eating. The manager was very professional and friendly. However, the server never came back to check on us until we had to pay. The food was good quality, but the server was not up to par.
