We walked in and the spices were heavy. Great aromas from the open kitchen. Unfortunately, the food was kind of a let down. We ordered shawarma and a Palestinian lamb and rice special. Both came with a cucumber salad that looked pretty tattered and old. Also, we received tzatziki. Both dishes were reasonably tasty but the lamb on both plates seemed dry, aid didn't taste super fresh. We left feeling nonplussed, and considered whether to take leftovers. I'm sure a lot of their dishes are amazing - the wraps they were cooking looked great- but the dishes we ordered, though spicy and flavorful, didn't seem particularly fresh, which took it down a notch for us. The place was open, the food looked incredible, and I decided to step inside and order a chicken kebab plate to-go so I could keep my spot outside. The server let me know it would take about 15 minutes, and it was absolutely worth the wait. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the hummus was rich and delicious, and the cucumber salad tasted great. It all came with warm, soft pita that was perfect to dip and grab pieces of chicken. On top of the great food, the service was friendly and welcoming, and I noticed there's plenty of seating both inside and outside if you want to stay and enjoy your meal there. Fiance and I have been here too many times to count. It is probably our favorite restaurant in Santa Rosa. Portions are large and filling, prices are right, taste and quality are delicious and consistent. Our go to orders are their lamb shank, chicken kabob or shawarma plate. We have also tried their lamb chops, lamb gyro plate and spanakopita which are delicious as well. The food always comes out quick. Every dish starts with cucumber salad, hummus and pita bread. One of the best pita bread I've had. Just so soft, warm and has the right amount of chew. The lamb shank is super tender and comes with a side of soup. The chicken kebab is juicy and never dry. We usually have leftovers. They have a wide variety of desserts too. Most times I am too full but we've had their baklava which is really good. This place is delicious! We eat a lot of Middle Eastern food and Falafel Hut ranks right up there. We ate here twice in a week. We shared a shawarma and an order of babaganoush. It was more than enough for two of us. We also brought some delicious baklava back to our hotel for later that evening. We looked around to see what other people were eating and seemed to be enjoying very much. Everything looked fabulous. They also give you like a plate of humus and pita bread too as like an appetizer before your main food arrives and this small cucumber salad thing which was dope. I really dislike writing bad reviews, especially when a restaurant has so many great reviews, but I wanted to share my experience at Falafel Hut. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap, which was okay overall. It was a little dry and could have used more tzatziki and hot sauce, but it was still decent. The main reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because of the mixed kebab plate my husband ordered. It was actually recommended to us by the cashier and was also the most expensive item on the menu. When it arrived, it looked great, but unfortunately the filet was extremely overcooked. It was so tough that a fork could barely get through it. We mentioned it to the cashier, hoping there might be something they could do, but the response was, "That's how we usually cook it." I understand that everyone has different preferences, but this was far beyond what we would consider enjoyable. The chicken on the plate was also quite dry, although the kofta was good. The filet was definitely the biggest disappointment, especially considering the price and the fact that it was recommended to us. We also looked at the dessert slices, but felt they were overpriced for the size, so we decided to pass. Came here for lunch on Saturday around noon and it was easy to find parking (street and parking lot right around the corner). The restaurant wasn't very busy so we were able to go right to the counter and order and find our seat right away. The staff there was super nice and accommodating, and ended up helping me change & update the orders twice (like switching from wrap to pita, and making it combo meal), etc. There were plenty of seating, and there is also a nice patio area that a lot of people seemed to gravitate towards. There is water and rose water that you can try for free as well. One thing that stood out to me was the customer service, the staff was very friendly and recommended things that they thought we should try, and gave us garlic spread and roasted tomato spread to try with our meals. For the food, we ordered lamb gyro, falafel, mixed kebab plate, and a beef & chicken shawarma wrap. Everything came out great and the portions were huge. For the mixed kebab plate, that is great for 2 people to share. I also really enjoyed their falafel which was nice and crispy when it came out. The lamb gyro was tender and well-seasoned and they let us substitute tabbouleh instead of cucumber salad. Saffron rice was perfect and the mint yogurt sauce, a refreshing counterpoint. They use lots of fresh vegetables and herbs in Middle Eastern cuisine making all the flavors bright and tasty. The falafel looked over fried but were in fact delicious and easy to cut with the side of my fork. I couldn't resist the baba ganoush; it had a delicious grilled flavor. A generous amount of warm pita accompanied everything. We stuffed ourselves, even The Incinerator walked away sated. A shaded patio allows 30 or more people to enjoy the fresh air and breeze while inside, plentiful seating in the main dining room. Service was so kind and prompt, I wish I lived nearby because I would frequently be at the Falafel Hut. Boy are we lucky to have Palestinian food in Santa Rosa. I ordered for take out on a weekday night, and walked in to a spacious and inviting space. They have outdoor and indoor seating, kid and dog-friendly! There were couples and groups eating, and I love how so many of us know more about Palestine. The decor with olive trees, stone walls and Dome of the Rock photos just give me so much hope that Falastin will be freed within our lifetime! The sweet boy at the counter was friendly and brought my order out when I walked in. They also have an emergency fund so drop a few dollars or whatever you can give to help support their family in Gaza. We can't talk about Palestinian food without talking about their delicious, full, liberation.
