This is one of our favorite spots. It has a beautiful patio, and you can dine either inside or outside. On our most recent visit, we went on a Thursday evening and were seated right away. I usually prefer sitting outside, but due to the wind, we chose to sit indoors. Since it was later in the evening, we opted for a lighter dinner. My husband and I both ordered the sautéed petrale sole with wild rice, spinach, and lemon herb beurre blanc. Unfortunately, I would rate this dish a 2 out of 5. The sauce lacked flavor, and I couldn't taste the lemon herb beurre blanc at all. It also felt like there wasn't enough sauce, and although we asked for lemon, it never arrived. That said, the ambiance is still a 5 out of 5. The setting is beautiful, and they have a great selection of wine. We've been here multiple times, and this was our only disappointing experience. We had a great lunch here pre-Superbowl. In our many trips to Napa from the OC, we had not been here (honestly, the reviews drove some of that decision), but for this trip with our teenage girls we thought we would give it a shot. The grounds are gorgeous -- the outdoor seating area, the tasting tables, the garden and obviously the vines. What a great location! We started with the crudité which was fantastic. As basic as this dish can be -- everything was fresh, crisp, cold, and the sesame miso black garlic dipping sauce was wonderful. We also grabbed the tuna tartare and I had the soup du jour which was a divine garlic & parmesan soup. The soup was excellent -- perfect amount of garlic without being overpowering, really well-balanced and smooth, and the parmesan added the perfect little bite. For entrees, my wife and youngest split the chicken parmesan sandwich, my 15 year old went with the filet mignon with asparagus and mac n' cheese, and I did the seabass (duh) with coconut rice and a lobster hot & sour broth. The chicken parmesan was "good" -- nothing special according to the ladies, but the truffle fries made them quite happy. The filet was "excellent" -- perfectly cooked, a nice mushroom cream sauce, and the veggies and mac n' cheese were tasty. My dish was the highlight -- seabass perfectly cooked, rice was great, and the lobster broth was exceptional. I basically licked the plate. We were totally full for our "light" lunch -- but had to dive in on the desserts based on how good everything was. The GF Chocolate torte was unreal -- SO RICH -- we only ate 1/2 of it between the 4 of us -- but was great. The rice pudding got a "solid" score from the ladies and the cheesecake was awesome. It used to be special. The food now? Average. Napa has moved on, and there are better tables closer to home. Will we stop coming to Brix? No. We have a relationship with this place. Stopped by Brix after wine tasting for a quick bite and a cocktail at the bar. We were seated right away which was nice. Random but the bar had TVs on with the NFL playoff games and I loved that. There was a wait for outside seating, which seemed to be what everyone wanted. We sat at the bar, it's horseshoe shaped and actually really beautiful. We ordered a French 75, lobster fondue, truffle fries, and the seafood potstickers. The lobster fondue was fine but didn't have a ton of lobster, more fondue than anything. Truffle fries were really good and the seafood potstickers were my favorite. Everyone was nice and the property itself is gorgeous. We got 30mins early thinking we'll hangout by the bar first but our server said they were slow and we were seated right away. Food coming out fast and a little disappointed that first my food has hair :(. Second, they were no recognition of the birthday celebrant. A lovely birthday night. We started with the Heirloom Tomato Salad which was fresh and delicious. For our mains, we had the Brit Burger, the Short Rib Ravioli. To sip, we enjoyed Espresso Martinis and Chocolate Fudge Martinis -- both delicious and perfectly suited to the evening. To top off our night- we ordered the Brix Banana Split -- a generous scoops of ice cream and fresh toppings. One of the highlights was the lovely garden setting. My family and I have been to Brix about 5 times or so for brunch for the past few years and our experiences have been consistently fantastic. Most times we've had a reservation and they were always able to accommodate us for outdoor seating. Outdoors is where you want to be-- it's got great views, it's so beautiful and relaxing and just a fun environment to enjoy a great meal with your family. There's a garden and grassy areas for kids to roam when they're no longer interested in eating. What's nice is we coincidentally always had the same server a few times and we always recognize the same (staff) faces which I'm hoping means employees are happy there and it's got great management. We always ask our serve what they recommend, and it's always a hit. We haven't had a bad meal there and service is always amazing. Parking is always easy and it's so close to all the wine country action. read more

The service was great from the start, the hostess was friendly and such a joy. The food is where everything gets a little tricky. The appetizers were all so good. We order the ribs 10/10 the green beans 10/10 the crab cakes 10/10. However, the actual food was a let down. My dish came out cold. There was a lack of flavor. It's been years since I've eaten here and as it happened, our company holiday gathering was recently here for a luncheon on a rainy day.Pictured are what we all ordered. Our party ordered the shrimp and pork potstickers in which one of the two orders was returned as the pork filling was not fully cooked. Dungeness crab fondue however was really good. My Dungeness crab Tagliatelle dish was just average and in hindsight should have ordered the mushroom risotto or short rib ravioli dishes which really looked good. It's a beautiful horseshoe shape with tv's hung from the ceiling to watch a sports game. The restaurant is super busy and the noise level high. Next time I'll have to make reservations so I can sit out on the patio with amazing views of their grounds ( vineyard & garden). The name Brix is a nod to the sugar level of grapes grown on their vineyard. Their menu is farm to table changing daily and using ingredients from their own garden and orchard. We ordered shrimp & pork potstickers, Dungeness Crab Fondue ( artichoke, leek, melted Gruyère & Brie) served with crispy garlic flat bread, and truffle fries. My favorite was the potstickers and my thoughts on the fondue was it was too salty - all I could taste was the salt. I ordered the Passion Spritz craft cocktail ( aperol, passion fruit purée and sparkling wine)- I liked the spin on the traditional aperol spritz. Very fruity and flavorful. The bartender (he was extremely busy) was still friendly and checked in with us regularly. There is a really pretty private table area near the bar with walls of wine racks made of light wood, a nice spot for a celebration dinner. We made a reservation at Brix during restaurant week. We were happy to get a last minute Rez, so we didn't mind sitting on their enclosed patio with heaters because it was quite a chilly evening. We only waited 10 minutes for our table to be ready and we were invited to wait in their pretty lounge. The patio didn't have as good of vibes as indoors. The restaurant week menu was pre-fixe. We got to pick one app, one main and one dessert for the price. The highlights were the crab fondue, sticky ribs, and short rib. The halibut was also cooked perfectly with a slight crisp texture on the edges. The only items that didn't really hit the spot, though they were beautiful aesthetically, were the desserts. A local to the area, I have a bevvy of choices to dine in Napa Valley and chose Brix for the 4 of my dining mates. We wanted to sit outside on the last night before daylight savings time. And what a table backdrop of mountains, restaurant gardens and vineyards. Overall I can describe the menu as sophisticated, comfort food. 1. Tempura Green Beans Nicely salted, crunch hot, fried beans with honey dipping sauce. 2. Truffle french fries came out where the top was called so it being a busy night we guess that they have been sitting out a little. The waiter was truly too busy so I couldn't say anything. 3. Fried chicken dinner with cheddar biscuit, from their gardens, grated warm squash, and mashed potatoes with gravy. As you can see, it's an incredibly hearty dinner portion. 4. Brix' seasonal beet salad with the addition of shrimp. Someone's main dish. The shrimp were poached earlier and a tad over cooked, but it was a delicious combination and a hearty portion of yummy beets. Aside: No bread service is offered. First and perhaps last visit to Brix. Early reservations and only a few seated at tables when we arrived. We are shown to the smallest table for 2 on the planet. Barely enough room for our table settings. Waiter arrives and is very quiet. We have to inquire about prime rib special as well as drinks. We order the tempura green beans and both order prime rib, king cut and queen cut. Tempura Green Beans arrive and comes with only a honey mustard sauce. Wife requested ranch dressing and he says they do not have ranch dressing. WTF, how can this place not have ranch. How about some salt and pepper to help these very bland vegetables. Shakers are brought to the table. Prime rib arrives and there is very little or no difference between the king and queen cut other than the price. Again the food is under seasoned. No au jus and no horseradish sauce. They bring some horseradish sauce but no au jus. The baked potato is underdressed and we have to request additional butter and sour cream. What a shit show! Meal complete and check brought to the table. Happy to get out of this place. Not a good representation of Napa. Two stars is all I can give. read more

There's lots of reservations available and a large parking lot. We were seated pretty quickly after we made a last minute reservation online. There's indoor seating and outdoor seating - we sat outdoors since we had our dog. It was beautiful outside (think garden and vines), but also very hot with not enough fans. We ordered the handmade local burrata, tempura green beans, creole bbq shrimp, crispy kohlrabi fritters, forest mushroom risotto, short rib ravioli, and the passionfruit cheesecake. The kohlrabi fritters were a disappointment and didn't have much flavor. The garnishes were very lackluster and it just felt like a bunch of barely cooked vegetables thrown on a plate. The burrata itself was amazing, but a bit more pesto oil would have taken this up a notch! When you split the burrata between the grilled bread, there isn't much pesto oil left to have much of a taste. The reason for the three stars was the fritters and the service. While our server was polite, he kept disappearing for long periods of time. Sometimes I would see him just standing around chatting. I had to ask 4 different employees at different times for water and soda refills. Between sitting down at our table and finally getting our check and getting to leave, it was 3 hours!! It really shouldn't take that long. Luckily it was a weekend and we didn't have anything planned after lunch, but I certainly didn't think we would be spending three hours just for a casual lunch. I also saw our server cleaning up a very dirty table (filled with food thrown all over the table) using a towel and his bare hands, and then 5 minutes later bringing us plates and forks for our dessert. And in nowhere during that time did he go into the kitchen where he may have washed his hands. I was quite grossed out by that. However, I did see other servers giving excellent and very attentive service, so it may have been an off day for our server because he was nice. We placed our orders for appetizers and drinks. The tempura green beans were very good. Along with an Elote which we carefully cut off the cob to share. Our lunches came in two deliveries with half of us with no food for about 10 minutes. We finally all had our meals by 2:40, an hour after being seated. My husband ordered a beet salad with smoked trout which was so small that it was less than an appetizer. Fantastic dinner at Brix last night. Flavorful food, great service, cozy atmosphere. It has the feel of a large home - with the big fireplace, cushy chairs and pretty lighting. If you're in between wine tours in Napa on Highway 29 and need a lunch break, Brix is a class spot to enjoy cheddar cheeseburgers, wood fire-grilled artichoke, and class cocktails. It's a good change of pace in between trying flights of different wines and needing something to fill your stomach so that you can enjoy more wine later in the day. Their espresso martinis are also a highlight of their menu, which we enjoyed towards the end of our meal. I made reservations at least a month in advance just in case there were any capacity issues, so we were going during the in-season. They sat us right away with a lovely view of the outdoor patio and the west side of Napa Valley. Surprisingly, I wish their cocktails were stronger but the flavors are great. It is a bit pricey for what you receive but that's to be expected in this area. I took my grandma here for her birthday and I'm so happy I did. I made a reservation a few days before hand and messaged them requesting if they have any birthday offerings. They responded quickly and provided me specific details in which they gave me the option to choose which I appreciated greatly. Service 5/5: Once we got there, they even greeted my grandma "Happy Birthday" which made my grandma so happy. As soon as we were seated, she was given a birthday card and we were served pretty quickly. Food 5/5: My grandma got the Mushroom risotto and I got the Wood Grilled Filet Mignon. For dessert, my grandma got her complimentary birthday icecream scoop and I got the Strawberry Profiterole. I think they turned things around because we received excellent service! So much, in fact, it was the first thing we all commented on during the car ride home. Food: - Smoked blue crab cakes ($25): We would pass on the blue crab cakes: lots of filler and the crunchy outside was nonexistent. 2/5 - Sautéed petrale sole ($39): The fish also did not have any pan fry to it but was cooked well. The celery root croquettes were a first for everyone and added some much needed crunch to the dish. 3/5 - Kelleher braised short rib ($41): The short rib was tender. I didn't try any other components of the meal, but my bf's dad ordered it specifically for the creamy polenta listed on the menu. 4/5 - Caramelized sea scallops ($44): Fantastic. Excellent pan sear, loved the black truffle vinaigrette and toasted hazelnuts. 5/5 MUST GET! - Wood grilled steak frites ($41): The steak had a very nice smoky flavor, although it was a bit on the salty side. Superb food and climate. I highly recommend sitting outside to see the garden and lovely view. We had the fried chicken and chicken parm sandwich for mains and the Brutus salad for an appetizer. This place did not disappoint! Dessert menu had many lovely options as well and I can't wait to have the chocolate torte again- simply phenomenal. The best part was the fact that they offer a dog menu for sorts! Our pups were given a choice between grilled chicken or a hamburger patty. They thought they were in heaven! We've come here two years in a row for Christmas so this is a reminder to myself and everyone looking for a place to dine for Christmas and wonder why there is still open reservations here day of or day before Christmas. In 2023, they enclosed the patio area in plastic and offered outside seating. It was an underwhelming $600 dinner. A three course-low grade Ahi, 4-5 oz lean NY strip, and a pie x 4 over the course of 2hrs. And yes that's how they plated the steak. In 2021, they had us in the back room used for storage not the patio dining area but the side room. It was such a disappointment especially the cost. Aside from the holiday dinning with mediocre set menus and possible depressing ambiance, Brix has a great buffet and lunch menu.
