    Salmon special x2
    Russ K.

This was my first time Evangeline and was impressed! They have considerable outdoor dining, but we opted for indoor as the interior is adorably cute & efficiently laid out. We both ordered the salmon special and were happy with our decisions. Salad was both fresh & artistic too! Service was excellent.

Came in for dinner and was immediately impressed with the sophisticated ambiance. You would have no idea of what to expect from the outside. Was seated in a cozy booth next to the window and was soon greeted by the food server, Wendy. Super sweet woman. I wanted to treat myself to a very nice dinner and was not going to rush this. I started with their Sazerac which was so smooth and warmed me up since it was a cold and dreary evening. Wendy didn't rush me...let me finish my cocktail before ordering. I decided on the bouillabaisse and a glass of Rombauer Sauvignon Blanc to go with it. The wine was brought to me first and was perfect as Rombauer usually is. I was able to enjoy my wine a bit before my main course came out. The bouillabaisse was incredible. Lots of fish (Salmon and a white fish) along with several clams, muscles crab legs and potatoes in the most awesome broth based liquid. Two wonderful pieces of garlic toasted sourdough served along with it. This stew was OUTSTANDING to say the least. After I devoured my dish, and the plates were cleared Wendy came over (again, not rushing me at all) to check and see if I had room for dessert and/or coffee. OF COURSE I did. I knew that if my meal was great then dessert had to be wonderful. I was not disappointed with my choice of housemade bread pudding and vanilla bean ice cream with caramel sauce and a cappuccino to finish a beautiful and delicious dinner.

The cocktails were delicious! The Mezcalita unbelievable, the pear salad delicious, and the hangar steak dinner with roasted Brussels, and mashed potato purée was Devine! I only wish this French restaurant had Escargot and French Onion soup! I say go you won't be let down!

We dined at Evangeline mid-November and had a great experience. Food and service was excellent. Had the braised short ribs and steak. Of course they had an excellent wine selection but we brought our own bottle for a nominal corkage fee. Don't forget to try the espresso martinis!

The portions are quite large, but there's a lack of attention to detail I would typically expect at this price point. - The chicory, prosciutto, and apple salad was light and refreshing--perfect for an early fall evening after wandering around Calistoga. - The rice with the chicken was extremely crunchy to the point I had to spit out a few grains. The seasoning was also inconsistent on the chicken between two pieces on the same plate. - The short rib was wonderfully tender, but lacked any real flavor. To make up for this, the polenta was extremely salty. - The vegetables on the plate seemed to be more consistently seasoned. - The tarte tatine was a nice desert, but I had a few bites that were really burnt. The water also tastes pretty bad. I know some restaurants like to up charge for bottled or sparkling water, but it is environmentally irresponsible not to offer filtered water in this day and age. When I initially declined to order a bottled water, the waiter emphasized that the water otherwise would be tap. I did not think it could be that bad, but it was, and I ultimately ordered a bottle of sparkling instead. (This choice was somewhat on me, admittedly.) Overall, this was a pleasant dining experience in a lovely outdoor courtyard. A few little tweaks could make this something quite special, but as it stood, there the food just wasn't quite what we'd hoped for.

Fantastic experience. Delicious food and beautiful patio and outdoor seating. We are from Europe and loved the French atmosphere. Absolutely can recommend this outstanding restaurant.

We love French food and don't have access to a restaurant near our home, so we were excited to find this place during our trip to Napa. The ambiance is warm and romantic. It's quiet and the service is good. Our cocktails were delicious and the soup was flavorful. The coq au vin was bland and the meat wasn't tender. The gumbo was hearty and spicy. The sausage was a chore because each slice had to be cut into smaller pieces which was a bit annoying. We were unsure why our food took so much longer to get than the surrounding tables but it did. Not sure we'll return since there are so many other tasty looking options nearby and we don't get to Napa more than once or twice a year.

Food is pretty tasty, however needs some help. -no bread service -salty beans -overly plain/simple gem salad (it was literally whole leaves lightly dressed with some pickled carrots and 2 cherry tomatoes) -uncooked potato gratin cake Service was friendly but the host was young and inexperienced and overwhelmed or confused. Our server informed us the food we ordered was out and didn't bring a menu which resulted in an expensive error. The ambience is nice, but strange. Plastic table covers with roses. Almost all of the seating is outside on the patio with heat lamps or outside in an fabric enclosed structure with heat lamps. It's dim and seems a romantic setting but the ground is quite uneven, and they sat us with really bad feng shui (back facing the black cloth wall and away from entry). There were a couple errors and/or miscommunications on the bill, and they were not very accommodating (they took $3 off but would not reduce the price for something we did not intend to order).

We started at Sam's dinner club but the host had a conniption fit about me opening my bottle of wine!! 1 star for them, the guy was so embarrassing my quiet friends wanted to leave. So I got the last reservation at Evegaline's!! We got there and were escorted to an outside dining area with plenty of heat from the heat lamps. We ordered our dinner and the waiter came over and uncorked the magnum 1.5 Liter of Sean Thackrey's Sirius a silky smooth Petite Sirah from 2008. It was exquisite and super delicious!! Get a hold of me if interested in a Magnum of Sean Thackrey's wine! I had the Risotto done with saffron and Mike had the New York steak which we split our entrees! Then Emily had the Risotto with Shrimp and Robert had the Prime Rib special all were complimented. Then we had dessert Robert and Emily split a Panna Cotta and Mike and I had the chocolate mousse and everything was delicious and they only charged us for one corkage fee, our water was informative and appropriately friendly. We had a fantastic meal and I'll be back!!

Every single dish was spectacular, with each bite layered with flavor and intention, and the highlight of a night full of highlights was getting to tour the kitchen and even meet the Chef Garcia. At one point I mentioned a particularly delicious fish sauce martini I'd had elsewhere, and our server surprised me by bringing out a small pourer of fish sauce so I could customize my own tasting, which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch. You can really feel Chef Garcia's experience and talent in how he marries flavors, textures, temperatures, and heat; each course felt like a masterclass in balance and harmony. Given our experience, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Auro awarded a second (or even third) star in the near future.

Unfortunately it was anything but that. It had many different things in it that we've never seen before in that dish. Probably one of the biggest problems with this dish is everything look the same you didn't know what you were eating. It had decent flavor but from a texture and aesthetic perspective it missed the mark completely. Super disappointing. This is a very loud and crowded venue and just not our thing. I I doubt we will give it another opportunity.

So crispy that when I used a fork to loosen some meat on my drumstick, the skin retained its form (see photo of hollow chicken skin with bone inside and no meat). None of those teeny drum-ettes you get in bars. The cheese corn dog is just that - cheese. No meat. The crust is excellent, the melted cheese ooooozes. Yummy! The fact that she wanted come back was an indicator that this restaurant would be a good experience as Mom has very high standards. According to Anthony Bourdain, "A bouchon is a uniquely Lyonnaise institution, a casual, laid-back kind of a pub/bistro with a limited, usually old-school menu and always, always an unpretentious vibe. People come here to unwind, to relax, and to eat with abandon." Bouchon is chef Thomas Keller's (The French Laundry) heartfelt homage to the traditional French bistro in Napa Valley's charming 1.5 square mile town of Yountville. Located across the street from V Marketplace on Washington Street, we easily found free parking in the lot adjacent to the market. The restaurant is housed in a cozy red building that sits right next door to its sibling bakery. Decorated with whites, reds and marble tones, the velvet banquette seating and polished brass accents pop out through the wood furnishings and mosaic floor design. Upon entry, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The place was buzzing with almost every table occupied in the tightly-seated dining room. The seasons dictate what's on offer at Bouchon. The menu features a variety of traditional French dishes that perfectly highlight the essence of bistro dining. Upon seating, we were served a complimentary ramekin of pistachios alongside some butter and pain d'épi, the classic "stalk of wheat" variation on the classic baguette. Below are what we ordered: Escargots de Bourgogne ($19.75) - Six Burgundy snails cooked in parsley-garlic butter, each topped with Bouchon Bakery's puff pastry, were all absolute perfection, as expected. Soupe à l'Oignon ($19.75) - A true test of a French bistro is its French onion soup, and Bouchon's comforting, piping hot bowl of caramelized sweet onions, savoury beef jus, topped with country bread and melted Comté cheese, did not disappoint. Served in a proper vessel? Yes. Baked with a toasted baguette slice and ooey, gooey cheese topper? Check. The flavour of the soup base was also richly robust. I couldn't decide between the Saumon Poêlé ($38.00) and the Steak Frites ($47.50). Since our waiter said that I could have a side of the sauce au poivre from the Poitrine de Boeuf au Poivre ($45.00) with the Steak Frites, I had to go this route as it's one of my favourites. No regrets at all on my choice; I savoured every bite of the delicious pan-seared prime flat iron steak topped with maitre d'hôtel butter and side of crispy French fries. The additional sauce au poivre was the cherry on top. Steak Frites truly is the quintessential bistro entrée and Bouchon's was excellent. Service was great. As a sweet birthday gift, Mom was given a pack of chocolate brownies, served on a plate alongside a lit candle to blow and make a wish. Dinner was remarkable. I'm not surprised that Mom chose to return here for her birthday dinner. I loved Bouchon so much that it's now my favourite restaurant in Napa Valley. Yes, I was able to decide this from my first visit. I most definitely will return. It's a must!

It's also a nice way to experience a Michelin one-star restaurant without committing to a full dinner. The biggest highlight here is really the view. If possible, try to reserve a seat on the outdoor terrace. From there you get a direct panoramic view over Napa Valley. On a nice day, sitting outside with the sun, vineyards, and rolling hills in front of you feels incredibly relaxing. Even just slowly enjoying lunch while looking out over the valley already makes the experience worthwhile. As for the food, it's very much in line with what you'd expect from a Michelin one-star restaurant. The presentation is elegant and the flavors are refined. It's not heavy or overly bold; instead, the dishes focus more on balance and highlighting the quality of the ingredients. Nothing felt overly flashy, but the execution across the board was very solid and well thought out. The lunch prix fixe is especially worth considering. Compared to dinner, the price is much more reasonable while still giving you a good sense of the restaurant's cooking style and overall quality. If you're already planning a trip to Napa Valley, stopping here for lunch can make the whole outing feel a bit more special. Service was also excellent--professional but not overly formal. The pacing of the meal felt comfortable, never rushed but also not slow. Overall, this place is really about the combination of food and scenery. The dishes alone might not be the most mind-blowing in Napa, but when you add the terrace view overlooking the valley, the whole experience becomes memorable. If you want a relaxed way to try a Michelin one-star restaurant without the full dinner price tag, lunch here is a great option.

We both chose housemade malekula island vanuatu chocolate creameux and it was FANTASTIC! The passionfruit puree and the muscovado ice cream brought all the flavors together in a medley of sweet symphony in my mouth! We both ordered tea and latte (not included in the brunch) and they were both delicious. Aurko ordered the barley tea and my latte was just perfect! My goodness this was a BEAUTIFUL experience! Oysters are a refreshing appetizer but I recommend the frog legs (tastes almost like a very lightly fried thinner chicken wing). I often paired it with a side of mushrooms. My family has gotten a variety of their menu. Onion soup is good and ahi tartare is great to share and munch. Warmed baguette bread and butter are always available. They have such good appetizers I think they even beat out the entrees. But I can say their steak and poulet/chicken frites are not bad too. I'm very glad they can do substitutions for the frites with roasted vegetables and got my poulet with green beans instead which still were a good pairing for the meat. Desserts are great too to share and finish your meal. Creme brûlée is standard in a lot of places and theirs hits the mark but I love Augie's Crepe Suzette more! A tangy orange based crepe topped with vanilla ice cream with bits of crispy orange bits throughout. I hope I come back again to try more dishes. A lovely spot in downtown. Reservations are easily made online too.

Everything tasted fantastic and the staff was exceptionally attentive. The chef ensured there was no risk of cross contamination and the wine pairing, suggested by Jerry was spot-on. I cannot remember a better experience at a restaurant. Check out their informative website & enjoy an amazing meal.

The ambience was fantastic. Now, about the food -- I'm sorry to say it, but it did not meet French standards. The soup was a bit cold. The salad was very soggy, and the dressing was unappetizing. My main dish was Duck a l'Orange, and I was really excited to try it. I've had it once in France, and it was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, the duck was cold, and the flavor was off. It had a strange aftertaste. My family member ordered the beef Wellington, and she was also disappointed. She said it lacked flavor. Even our bread didn't arrive warm; it was stone cold. We ended up leaving a little early and took our leftover food home. Welp ‍ $200 down the drain. Overall, the ambience was fantastic, but the food was a bit disappointing. I'm sorry to say, Sonoma County, but this restaurant was a bit of a letdown for taste.

The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was inviting, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. I shared the Calamari Fritti with my wife. It was crispy and cooked well, but the flavor was just average. I'd give it a 3/5. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the standout of the meal. The Brasato di Manzo (braised short rib) was excellent and was the days special. It was fork-tender, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. The presentation was beautiful, and the broccolini was a great side that balanced the richness of the dish. Overall, we had a really good experience and enjoyed celebrating a special occasion here. I'd definitely come back, and I'd absolutely order the Brasato di Manzo again.

Would not give us the front desk even though we asked. We ended up leaving a message about our reservation change. The menu hasn't changed in years but the prices have sky rocketed. Two mains, bread, and one coke came to $100. These were dishes they've been serving for literal years. The dining room was cold. In fact, freezing. Our table was uneven and constantly tipped. We had to ask for water refills, a pet peeve of mine. The place was almost empty and I know why. Breaks my heart to see a favorite place just give up on trying.
