Corned beef hash with poached eggs and sourdough toast.
    Robert C.

Service originally was real good. However after ordering it took a longer time than usual to receive our food. I had the corned beef hash ( bigger is better size ). It had three poached eggs on top. It was alright but I didn't come here for average fare. The pancakes were recommended to me. I did have one on the side. It proved to be fine but nothing above average. What I truly was impressed with which I didn't order but was able to sample was the chicken and waffles. The chicken was boneless seemingly pounded into flat pieces breaded and deep fried. They turned out into large irregular shapes and moist. The waffles were light and airy. They were truly the best chicken and waffles I've ever experienced. Too bad I didn't have a pic for you. Worth returning too again.

Great local breakfast, with classic dishes. The hash brown sticks are incredible, although mine were served room temp. Would go back, however this was mostly just a basic breakfast joint.

Traditional Eggs Benedict and delicious hash browns!

St. Helena cute restaurant and great value for food! Food was good, prices were below from anything in the valley and service was exceptional and with lots of smiles! The hash browns were crispy outside and soft in the inside absolutely delicious! They make all in house as well as their breads. The restaurant is quaint and was so cheerfully and tastefully decorated for Christmas.

Those vege tacos are so yummy!

Can you believe that Gillwoods does Dinner? They were open at 6pm Saturday! I was so shocked my hair stood up! So delicious! The tacos were tasty and so yummy! The different salsas all blended with love to produce a mouth watering quick fix for my hunger pangs! God bless them!

For $25 salad, this is ridiculous! Maybe cuz I door dashed it they figured it didnt matter if they made the salad well.

Tables were sticky, which made it difficult to get comfortable since you didn't want to touch the table or put your arm down on it. Food was ok, they messed up my order, I had the ABLT. The tomato soup was delicious. The host and waitress were very friendly. The restaurant is small but you can tell it's a popular spot, the entire place was packed. We came during our anniversary weekend for a quick breakfast, don't think we'll be back.

Solid 3.5 stars for Gillwoods Cafe. On a Tuesday for lunch, it was busy. Pretty average breakfast fare, can't really go wrong with breakfast or can you? The veggie skillet was sad and tiny for the price. 2 poached eggs, quinao, some onions and peppers. Flavor wise, pretty bland but it is quinao after all. The food took over 20 minutes to come out. Brunch for the birthday weekend.

We enjoyed Gillwoods Cafe after browsing Yelp for good breakfast/brunch spots. Located in busy downtown St. Helena. We found parking close by on a side street. There were seven of us and were seated quickly at the "community table." Food came out quickly and was delicious with good portions. Gillwoods is a friendly diner with great staff and speedy service. There is seating for 2-4 around the cafe and a couple of seats outside.

While working in St. Helena, I could never find an opening in a reservation, so here was a great opportunity now that all of us are retired. Our friends live in Clear Lake while we live in Vallejo, so this is a central place to meet. It was the best decision I made because every year for the past several anniversaries, we've gone to Cache Creek to C2. Their food and service is excellent because my husband enjoys poker, but I thought a change of scenery would be nice. And it was! Firstly, it was very kind of the staff to present us with a greeting card signed by everyone -- how sweet and thoughtful! We will cherish that! Secondly, we were very impressed with how the food/wine was locally sourced. It was incredible to hear the story about Custom, the Bull, and taste the difference between the Highland beef compared to Angus. Our waitress was "Erica S." She was engaging, personable, and very informative. My husband and I would definitely like to return to return to experience the dinner menu! We and our guests had the following dishes: Artichoke appetizer Arbororio Biscuits & Gravy Two Cheeseburgers Three Bloody Mary's Farmstead Margarita When they found out it was our anniversary celebration, the house sent over four glasses of complimentary champagne and a dish of dessert -- again, very sweet and kind of them I now understand why so many crowds flock to this restaurant! It's well worth the wait! If you have not experienced a meal there, you must definitely go now!

I was really excited to try this restaurant for the first time, especially for Mother's Day, and…read morewhile the food itself was excellent, the overall experience was disappointing enough that I would not return. From the beginning, there seemed to be constant miscommunication between staff. We specifically booked an outdoor reservation and were seated inside instead. While mistakes happen, it set the tone for the rest of the evening. The bigger issue involved the wine and corkage fee. We purchased a bottle directly from the market associated with the restaurant and were told by the employee there that the corkage fee would be waived if we bought their wine. When we sat down, our server Sara told us that was not true and that we would still have to pay the fee. I explained what we had been told, and when she asked if I wanted a manager involved, I said yes. Before the manager even arrived or clarified the situation, the server opened our bottle of wine. In the silence and confusion, I reasonably assumed the fee issue had been resolved. Then the manager came over and told us we would still be charged and implied that nobody at the market would have told us otherwise. The way it was handled made my husband and I feel like we were being accused of making the whole thing up, which was especially upsetting on Mother's Day. At that point, the bottle was already opened, so we were essentially stuck paying the fee regardless. Between being seated incorrectly, the poor communication between employees, and how dismissive the situation felt, the service completely overshadowed what should have been a special meal. The rest of the service we felt ignored and there was minimal effort to accommodate. Great food alone is not enough to justify returning when the hospitality experience feels this frustrating and unprofessional.

Date of Visit: 3/28/2026…read more We visited The Forum at Meadowood Napa Valley for afternoon late lunch. Between the hours of 3 to 6pm, there was a Golden Hour menu that offers light foods, including vegetable tempura, burgers, poke etc. There are some selection of cocktails and wine with a discounted price. Schramsberg, Brut Rosé, North Coast 2021 $21 Husband got the Brut Rosé that was bubbly and refreshing. Rivers-Marie, Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast 2023 $20 I got the Chardonnay with the taste of zesty lemon and candied lemon peel. Walter Hansel "Cahill Lane," Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley 2022 $20 And we ordered the third glass of Pinot Noir to pair with foods. This tastes like a traditional Pinot Noir of California with the mushroom earthy smell and the shoe box aroma. Spring Vegetable Tempura $22 I ordered the spring vegetable tempuras made from Meadowood Farm vegetables, including asparagus, leek etc. On the side there were a bowl of English pea pesto. Forum Burger $23 Husband got the burger with medium grilled Akaushi beef, onion-bacon jam, cheddar cheese, secret sauce, brioche bun, and also French fries on the side.

*Would only go back for wine & outdoor lounge space... not for the food…read more Pros: Wine selection was great! Ambiance was wonderful! Service was good, albeit slower. Outdoor space looks amazing & is pup-friendly. Cons: If you're hungry, eat before you go. Bring snacks for in-between courses. You might have to stop off to grab food on the way home. Thankful they kept bringing the yummy bread! Lacked course timing, underseasoned, pricey. $550 later, yet we left underwhelmed & unfulfilled. Our meal took over 3.5 hours... (details below)... there's a fine line between building anticipation/ "hunger sauce" & causing anxiety/ frustration. **Napa Restaurant Month** If you wanted a steak (ie. the "NY strip" offered as part of their limited-time prix fixe menu), this is probably not what you're looking for. Gray, gray, gray... no matter your temp preference, medium? Gray... Medium rare? Gray... Rare? Gray. Perhaps the sous vide method with added grill marks, but they should tell customers that since most folks are expecting a steak-like steak. Oh, and it's actually just 3 slices OF A steak (questionable if truly NY cut), barely room temperature, but tasted okay (needed a dash of seasoning). Our meal took 3.5 hours... mostly because the kitchen "timed" the courses 30+ minutes apart. Maybe they were going for dramatic effect, but there's a fine line between "hunger sauce" & frustration. None of the courses were so complicated to justify the wait AND the place was nearly empty. Our wine pairings were poured 10-15 minutes before each course, so we sat there trying not to drink the wine because we wanted to taste it WITH our food. We had a nice time with friends, but the timing was a bit strange. The food: Course 1 - Hamachi was really good! 3 slices with jalapeño crema, radish, cilantro, lime vinaigrette. Course 2 - Chicken tortilla soup. 4 spoonfuls of luke warm tomato soup poured over a few cubed morsels. This had the flavor of spaghettiOs. When I said it out loud to our table, everyone laughed & agreed... it was the taste they were all trying to peg. Course 3 - NY strip. 3 slices of almost-warm, gray meat with 3 potato slices, 2 carrot halves, sautéed Swiss chard, chimichurri. Veggies were tasty. Course 4 - (they ran out) so we got something from their regular menu. The sesame citrus gâteau was not my favorite. The cheesecake was so bitter, I took 2 bites & could not eat anymore. We also ordered for the table: -- Elotes (not very good, still on the cob,not worth the effort); -- Brussels sprouts (fresh, but undercooked & underseasoned); -- Mushrooms (naturally flavorful, but unseasoned); -- Their complimentary bread plate & olive oil was Yum!!
