*Vegetarian Foodie Review* We randomly stopped by here in our way to Clear Lake from home. We had pulled into the neighborhood for Tesla charging and had about 30-40 mins to spare. It was way past lunch time, so we decided to grab something quick. Ordered: 1) Buttermilk Pancakes (plain) - Single, for my 5 year old, who throughly enjoyed it. 2) Vegetarian Taco: 5/5 - Omg, it was so delicious. Being a vegetarian, I have been disappointed by tacos at a lot of places, but this one was so good. Very flavorful, fresh, and it felt healthy and light. It came with a side of veggies like cauliflower, cucumber, red onions, and pickles. The combination was amazing. I wish we had more time, or went in for lunch or dinner, to try more items on the menu. We definitely plan to go back next time we are headed somewhere closer to this place. Stumbled upon this place while walking downtown St Helena and was very pleased with the find. The menu is extensive. We were seated promptly outside. Great weather. To drink I had the mimosa flight which was great ($25). To eat I had the snack burger which was absolutely delicious! Had bacon and avocado. Yum. I chose seasoned fries as my side, a little salty. Solid brunch spot. Came on a Friday around 11 am and was seated immediately. We ordered the country fried steak $21 with a pancake side upgrade $3, corned beef hash $20, and a single French toast $8. The main courses of country fried steak and corned beef hash were excellent. Not too salty. All the sides were mediocre though. Scrambled eggs can definitely be softer, hash browns were mushy on the inside, pancake was normal, French toast was ok. The honey wheat toast was pretty good though. Stumbled upon this charming restaurant for a late lunch at 3PM and thankfully, they are now open all day! The food was amazing, and the wait staff were so accommodating! I would have given this a five-star, but the drawback was the lack of proper ventilation. It was almost 100 degrees outside and was super hot inside as well. They had 1ceiling fan working in the dining area and it was not enough to make the whole experience memorable. Hopefully they will fix this issue soon. read more

Dropped in here for breakfast mostly because it was close to our hotel and we were both hungry. We were seated quickly. Andrea went with the Lox and Bagel and I had bacon and eggs as usual with the left over capers and pickled onions left on her plate. When I order our server asked if I wanted 2, 3, or 4 slices of bacon. Duh, I'll take 12!!!! I went with the 4 but 5 were delivered, score. Coffee, Momo, prosecco and diner food. Typical diner place in all kind of towns that have been open for awhile and has a huge local following on a daily basis and tourists that drop in from who knows where. We don't really consider ourselves tourists because we have spent so much time in the Napa Valley and prolly know it as well as most locals or close to it. Service was good and food was solid. Service originally was real good. However after ordering it took a longer time than usual to receive our food. I had the corned beef hash ( bigger is better size ). It had three poached eggs on top. It was alright but I didn't come here for average fare. The pancakes were recommended to me. I did have one on the side. It proved to be fine but nothing above average. What I truly was impressed with which I didn't order but was able to sample was the chicken and waffles. The chicken was boneless seemingly pounded into flat pieces breaded and deep fried. They turned out into large irregular shapes and moist. The waffles were light and airy. They were truly the best chicken and waffles I've ever experienced. Too bad I didn't have a pic for you. I visited Gillwoods once again, this restaurant is located in the heart of St Helena. This a great place to stop for breakfast, we were greeted by Ocean, very nice young man. They brought out our coffee right away, (which is a very good breakfast coffee) and he took our order. I had chilaquiles and eggs, spicy but good. The only thing I would do is strain the sauce. But the flavor is great. My husband had biscuits and gravy, he enjoyed them. The lady sitting next to me ordered the pancakes and they looked amazing. It's a nice quiet little restaurant, but very charming. And I heard that they now are open every day, they have tacos in the evenings. Which I will try next time I'm in St Helena. read more

Service was good. Fresh squeezed orange juice was good but the other items were not. Granted we were getting breakfast close to noon but my coffee was bitter and after adding cream was a grayish color. Server did not offer up that it was not fresh or maybe decaf was poured. I ordered an Americano and that was better. My spring French toast was more like thin toast with little batter and tasteless strawberries. It was all cool with juice probably from frozen defrosted strawberries filling the plate. My scrambled eggs were fine. My husbands ham and cheese omelet was just ok. I want to start out by saying that this is one of my favorite places for breakfast. I haven't been here in many years. Today I can tell you that it's still in my top 5 in the Napa Valley. It's not very big inside and it's not luxurious, but it's the perfect breakfast if you are in the area. The service is great, the ambience is good and the food is simply delicious. Today I had the Country fried steak, my hubby had The Gillwood scramble. I had a chai latte (delicious) and we shared a pancake. I left with a smile on my face. The portions are perfect and hearty. I think the best for me are the memories of coming here when my kids were younger. Our favorite was the one in Downtown Napa, but when that one was closed, this one became our favorite. Came here last year while I was in town for work. Food was decent, portion was good. Small restaurant but they had a decent amount of seats. Tables were sticky, which made it difficult to get comfortable since you didn't want to touch the table or put your arm down on it. Food was ok, they messed up my order, I had the ABLT. Our server was VERY personable even giving me some flack(in a joking way nothing bad) about me having a mimosa and I was driving. She was great, I do wish they had a sign when you walked in that said "seat yourself" instead of the dude walking up and saying "you need to pick which side you want to sit on" Also as someone who doesn't drink coffee ever, I ordered a Chai Latte and I love that she gestured with her hands while she said the size because I was lost in the sauce.
