The Saint is located on the Main street in St. Helena. We walked in, no reservations and were greeted sweetly. We sat down and ordered two flights, one of 'Lucious reds' and the other of 'bubbles'. The server was a one woman show, however, some locals seem to come in after us, and they were served their order before ours. I was disappointed because I was hoping to order more from the flight tasting but we got off to such a slow and un-prioritized start, unfortunately that wish fizzled with the last. We order nuts along with the flights. They were an assortment of cashew, almond, pistachio, macadamia & pecan. They were salted and paired well. This day, is not fair to judge the ambiance given the last minute New Year's Eve decor... so I will assume that normally this is a great romantic place with lots of partitioned seating. I always recommend the Saint to anyone visiting this area of Napa Valley. The intimate space you see today was the Bank of Saint Helena in the 1890s. Love the thick brick walls, cozy couches, warm lighting, and the various spaces to lounge, including the vault. It's the perfect spot for a date and/or to celebrate a special occasion or birthday - craft cocktails, an extensive wine list and amazing food options. I loved this location and the setting is excellent. We were there on a Saturday night and so they had lice music as well. Our Service was excellent as was the food and the drinks. I had the gnocchi and I believe I would say it is the best I have ever had. So light. We had the crab cake (yummy), the burrata plate (yum), a mixed salad with filet, fries, and a spectacular crème brûlée. We had a none alcohol sparking (excellent), a Manhattan, and a while flight with pours that we very large. All the food comes from The Market and affiliated business next door. We were looking for a wine bar. We went to OSC but they were hosting a private event so no go . So we ended up here at The Saint, just a few doors down. What a great spot! It's beautiful inside, so chic and cool. Stephanie was so welcoming and the perfect hostess for the 4 of us. It was 3pm on a Thursday and the town was pretty quiet. There was only 1 table occupied here so we considered ourselves lucky to have tables to choose from. We ordered a bottle of Night cab franc. Stephanie helped us to choose this - I think she recommended it. It was perfect - exactly what we were looking for! It was such great experience. Stephanie really made this a 5 star visit. The Saint is a great spot to unwind after a long day in wine country. The atmosphere is relaxed yet refined--perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and good conversation. Nanda (sp?) was friendly, engaging, and made the experience feel personal and welcoming. It's always nice when someone behind the bar takes the time to chat and share a bit about the local scene. The Saint is fairly small but cute. They have candles in the bathroom that they do sell in restaurant as well (I thought it was a unique touch). After sun down they had live music which was absolutely lovely. Our server and host were very kind and attentive as well. Unfortunately, I don't think the food was worth it. The chicken was very dry and I could not eat it. The veggies were good but nothing special. They accidentally brought over a peach salad instead of the chicken dish first, so they let us keep it. The peach salad was also underwhelming. My friend seemed to enjoy her chopped salad though. While the food wasn't great, we did have a good time here as the ambiance and service made up for it! read more

There is limited parking on the busy street but we lucked out! There are plenty of comfortable seating areas on couches all around. Perfect for a meet up stop for a glass. It's super cute inside. We walked into our reservations for lunch. It wasn't busy at all, just a couple at the bar. We ordered a champagne flight of 3 glasses which was a great choice to try a few. We got to enjoy dinner at a private table inside an 1890s bank vault. That alone was pretty cool! They had some live music that started around 7pm as well. The place isn't very big though so the musicians were about standing in the entrance. This place doesn't have their own kitchen they share a kitchen with the restaurant called Market next door so all the food comes from them. Not really a downside, the food was all still really warm and enjoyable. We started with the crab cake, it was great and actually all crab and not crab + fillers. The corn and asparagus relish it sits on was delightful. I got the filet and it was so yummy! Can't go wrong with this dish. Cooked well and had great flavor. The scallop potatoes were delicious! Very cheesy flavor:) My hubs got the salmon. The salmon was awesome! The salmon skin was crispy and that gave it so much wonderful texture! We went to The Saint last Saturday to see Kevin Hague; he was amazing! We always enjoy the ambiance here: dim lighting, cozy couches friendly staff and of course the bubbles! Great wine list. Okay, warning... hidden gem alert!!! This place for the win. So, I found this spot on instagram of all places through another page I follow in the St Helena area- and can I say, we love what you guys are doing and offering, keep it up! Living in Napa split time, we sometimes venture up to St Helena and beyond lol. With that said, everyone knows, EVERYTHING, shuts down early and it becomes a sleepy little town at night. Well, this place is a game changer, as far as that's concerned. I've had my sights set on visiting for a few months. I finally had the opportunity to pop in. I was not disappointed. Think old brick building, with a the nostalgic stamped tin roof, chandeliers, and even an old bank vault that you can dine in- plush black couches, dim lighting, intimate, yet a total vibe, and live music. To further compliment this stellar ambience, wine, craft-cocktails, even a dinner menu, annnnd dessert! The night I visited, it was a quieter night, which was fine. We popped in for dessert and some dessert wine. We were sat promptly, the staff was wonderful and welcoming. They told us all about the great live music for the evening. We also met the owner. She was a wonderful gal, extremely personable, and she even helped us, herself. We were tasting dessert wines, to which I was searching for my calling that evening lol. Lo and behold, she pulled a secret squirrel stash French dessert wine out of her vault that was off menu, which I ordered- of course lol. We also ordered two of their most decadent chocolate desserts because it was just that kind of night and they were great. We really appreciated the attentiveness and the friendliness of the staff and owner. Also, from what I've seen on their Instagram page, this place gets a bit live and quite the crowd. We just happened to pop in on a quieter evening. They also have an exclusive social club that we learned about, which gathers monthly. This is a must visit hidden gem in St Helena. You will not be disappointed, especially if you're looking for a night life, but without the sloppy bar experience (downtown Napa after 9pm) lol. I wanted to love this place but I can't. They have a cool fun vibe, nice interior, friendly waitresses but that's about it, for me. We had the cheese and charcuterie board, which is about the only three food items they currently serve because they don't have a kitchen anymore. I do not recommend it. Everything is overly salty. I would rather buy my own from a grocery store. We also tried the wine flight and the dessert wine flight (each has 3 options). I just can't. Sorry. Being located in Napa, they should have better options. I was very disappointed. Service was great at the beginning but as it gets to around 5, this place got loud and busy. We had a very hard time flagging our waitress to get a check. I definitely see some locals who enjoys this place, but I just can't. We selected the white and the Night flights, and the cheese board. It was excellent. Ricky also gave us recommendations for restaurants and things to do on St Helena and Napa. He also gave us the history of this venue, which is an old bank with a vault and stone walls. We highly recommend coming here and will do so again upon our return. read more

We had to interrupt the bartenders texting sesh multiple times to order the one beverage and cheese board we wanted. We ordered two espressos and she paused to send multiple texts, and greet a personal friend then walked her to the back to hangout before even starting them. Biggest complaint is that waitstaff overcharged for our bill and there is an automatic 20% service charge (regardless of party size). We purchased one flight and one glass of wine and should have been charged about $75. They rang our card for $171. Not sure if someone is skimming or what's going on, but we certainly were not charged what was appropriate. Payment Issue was resolved, but experience was not worth final charge of around $100. Additionally, they apply a 20% service charge regardless of party size and then ask you to tip on top of that. No thanks. There are better places you can go in Napa. read more

The inside decor is something I am used to after living in NY for 27 years, it is geared to those, who walked half a day and now wants to sit, relax and finish their St. Helena experience with a glass of wine. Any time we're in St. Helena, we've always stopped in. They've got a great by-the-glass selection and it's cool spot to unwind after a long day of walking around town. On our most recent trip (October 2021), we had a very poor experience, but didn't even realize it until we got home. Let me explain. On all of our previous trips, the check did not automatically include a gratuity, so we were accustomed to leaving it after the credit card authorization. On our most recent trip, they changed their system and they brought over a card reader to our table. Once I swiped, I was presented with gratuity options, but they were quite strange: 3%, 5%, 10%, or something like that. I made a comment to our server about it, that the default tip % seems really low. I added a custom amount and left 25% like I normally do. Once we got home, I had an itemized copy of the receipt from Square (see attached photo) where I noticed they added a 20% service charge already. I hadn't noticed in the menus that they were automatically adding the service charge and certainly when I asked about the low %'s the server had an opportunity to explain this, but chose not to. So the end result is that on a $65 tab, we ended up giving over $45 in tip/service. We obviously had not looked at the menu or the receipt too carefully, which is our own fault, but I was so surprised after the fact that the server didn't mention anything even as I mentioned the very low default tip %'s, which now make sense because they added 20% by default. It's less about the money and more about what we felt was the dishonest practice. It left a bad taste in our mouth and we likely won't be back. If you decide to stop by, please review your receipt carefully so you don't end up double tipping like we did. read more

Weekend getaway started with dinner here. The ambiance & entertainment was amazing. Our waitress & i emphasize the 'WAIT' in waitress due to her snail like pace. It took over a half hour to get a glass of wine & another half hour for her to take our dinner order. Maybe she was having an off day but wow - she was slow & not personable. The food was definitely underwhelming. Lack of seasoning- salt/pepper on the table would've been welcomed along with a steak knife for my filet. My butter knife was cute but not really doing the job. So.... Would we return? Probably not to eat but we'd sit at the bar for wine or another espresso martini (which was delicious!) read more

Scenario: We arrived 30 minutes early to our reservation and were given a private room in the back. An hour into our dinner we were told they gave us the wrong table and that the table originally reserved for 7:00pm arrived 30 minutes late and they need the room. Our room was confirmed by Scott and Haidi. We were given specific information that we would have the private room. We even knew that the room is only booked for one party a night. We would not know that information if we did not have a discussion with Scott and Haidi. We were not given any choice but that we needed to move to a different area to accommodate a larger table, regardless of the fact that we did nothing wrong. The situation was extremely mishandled. 1. The waitress and staff took no ownership of the situation. All we kept hearing was I'm sorry but Haidi double booked us and I can call Haidi. 2. The way we were treated is that our party was not as important as the other. 3. We were even blamed for this miscommunication. They said "we asked you if you are the birthday party, and you said yes". This was true as we are taking our yearly trip to celebrate 3 birthdays. 4. The waitress said we can give you free birthday dessert. This does not fix the situation. We don't want free dessert, we want to be treated like our party is just as important as another party. 5. Food took extremely long to get. We order appetizers and it has taken longer than 30 min to arrive. Our dinner order has yet to arrive. 6. When food arrived food it was not prepared as we ordered. Items, (spinach), did not come out. Basic drinks (soda) were forgotten. This could have been handled much differently. There was service breakdown across the board. Not once did a manager approach us to help mitigate the situation. When we reached out to Scott and Haidi we never received a response. The wine was wonderful, the service was incredibly lacking. At the end of our tasting (bubbles 29$ and night 45$) we were presented with a bill for well over 130$. There is an automatic 20% service charge (btw this is an illegal practice in CA, I'm in the industry) when my husband brought to the servers attention that she had charged gratuity on a candle she cut him off mid sentence and corrected the bill. This could be a great place but there are much better places to sip wine without unknown ridiculous charges. We won't be returning. read more

This was my first time here and enjoyed the experience overall. The overall ambiance of the place was good, including the decorations, lighting and art pieces. We got the luscious red flight and a mix and match of some red and white wines. There was a good variety to choose from for the wine selection including a good variety that were aged, ones fermented in oak barrels and more. My fiancé texted me at 1am (10 hours before our wedding) and told me he was vomiting with diarrhea. I called my mother in law at 5am to see if she could help get some supplies for him. Unfortunately the two of them had shared the two dishes and she was also not feeling well. My fiancé thankfully rallied in spite of feeling terrible. My mother in law came to the ceremony and left early from the reception. I will say my brother and sister in law also went to the restaurant and ordered different dishes. They did not get sick.
