We popped in and found JV behind the bar, spinning great music ahead of an event they were hosting. He made some drink suggestions and they were 100/10! I got the Manhattan and Old Fashioned while my wife got the white gummy (wish we got a picture of them but the quality was perfect). The energy was instantly welcoming and refreshingly unpretentious. Great tunes, great atmosphere, and a bartender who clearly knows how to make great drinks. We asked what music they normally play and they responded it depends. At their busy times it's mostly hip hop and R&B, other times the bartender's will throw some music on. I would suggest stopping in to have a great cocktail and see what they're playing. This was a fun, unexpected stop that made our night even better. Shout out to JV for the fun experience! I didn't catch the other staff members names but they were funny and welcoming as well. The view from our table featured the 9th hole, trees swaying gently, and people walking their dogs along the green. We ordered our drinks: a lemon raspberry spritz and an IPA, along with crispy regular fries and chicken wings. Unfortunately, the spritz was too sweet, and the fries were too salty. We found that no napkins, plates, or utensils were provided until we requested them. While the wait staff were friendly and helpful, their service could have been better. They seemed scattered, either checking on order placements or attending to other tasks. More focus and attention on customer needs would significantly enhance the experience.

While the lobster salad wasn't the best I've ever had, it was a very solid bite for a dive-lounge-style bar. I'd skip the chips it comes with, but the fries are absolutely worth ordering. One small service hiccup worth mentioning: the fries are listed as coming with a herb aioli, but mine arrived with ketchup. When I asked about the aioli, my server initially tried to play it off before eventually sharing that they were out. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but it was an odd interaction that could have been handled more directly. The atmosphere is a dark, casual lounge with a cozy hole-in-the-wall feel along the river. We came in early evening, just before the dinner rush and apparently this is a very popular local bar and grill. Most of their customers were regulars, I could tell. It felt warm and comfortable inside and it had a very community feel in there. I was observing how the server conversed with every customer and she was so kind and attentive. She was very helpful to me in suggesting some of their popular menu items. We got the fish tacos, the shrimp tacos, the lamb sliders, Brussels sprouts, grilled tri-tip, the flautas and the empanadas. I would say my personal favorites were the grilled tri-tip, the Brussels sprouts and the empanadas. The Brussels sprouts were lightly crispy and chewy but absorbed all the roasted shallot vinaigrette, so it was a nice umami bite every time. The tri-tip was cooked like I like it (I don't like my beef bloody, sorry, not sorry). It was so flavorful thanks to the black truffle compound butter! Omg! It was delicious! The empanadas were lightly crispy and came with a really good chipotle crema sauce and I was dipping my empanada in that sauce because it really complemented the chicken tinga filling and crispy cornmeal crust. My oldest son loved the fish tacos. They were so crispy and loaded. My youngest son loved the lamb sliders. They were tasty and had a slight smokiness but the rosemary aioli brought it all together for me. It was such a nice touch. Overall, based on the outstanding service we received and the delicious food, I would highly recommend this place if you're in Napa. The hotel itself is pretty and chill and the staff are all soo welcoming and accommodating. I dropped off my vehicle at the valet and they are prompt and well mannered. The bar tenders at Mercantile were friendly and took good care of us throughout the evening. They had outdoor patios that are clean and equipped with outdoor heaters and fireplaces so it was very warm and chill. The drinks were made good and we all enjoyed the ambiance of the place as it is private and relaxing. highly recommend this spot and will definitely return.
