I don't know about their other baked goods but what I can say is their English muffins are one of the best I've had. The crust wi the cornmeal was excellent and the inside was super soft and airy. I'd come back just for them.

Taking home a lot of sweets.

Another fabulous visit! Our family, visiting from the south of France, stopped into The Model Bakery in Saint Helena, and it was a savory and sweet experience. We were all captivated by the inviting ambiance and the tempting displays. My family felt the same way and stated that they felt they back in France . They (we all) fell in love with the English muffins, the sandwiches, and the drinks--each bite was a taste of perfection. We ended up sitting down for lunch, and every item we ordered exceeded our expectations. If we lived closer to the model bakery, we would be regulars every day until next time. Note: The service was incredibly welcoming and friendly.

I tried the original breakfast sandwich and I didn't like it. The English muffin on it was good though. I preferred the breakfast smashburger instead. The chorizo wrap was good but next time I want to try their model wrap and their model biscuit breakfast sandwich. Service was fast. The line went by fast.

Cute cafe and bakery in DT Sonoma. This place was buzzing in the late afternoon. We popped in for some coffee and a bite to eat. Service was pretty quick at the counter and I had to go for the slice of veggie pizza and a coffee. A bit pricier which we expected being in this area but we found a small corner table to sit and relax for the time being. They warmed up my pizza and I thought it was quite tasty. They had some good looking pastries but nothing GF for my hubby. Will definitely come back!

I can't judge this place on any of its baked goods aside from the english muffin, but the english muffin is all you really need. We ordered one with sausage and egg and it was perfectly griddled with a really amazing chipotle sauce to really round out the whole sandwich. We also got a 6 pack of english muffins to go and had amazing breakfasts that entire week. I wish I bought more to stick in the freezer! The atmosphere was so cozy and quaint and the perfect way to start a slow morning before exploring the rest of St Helena. Model Bakery will forever be a go to spot for me now whenever I'm in the area.

Great bakery! Stopped in to grab a quick sweet treat and ended up grabbing a breakfast sandwich as well. The ginger molasses cookie is absolutely to die for and the English muffin is definitely worth the hype in my opinion. Coming from NYC where amazing bakeries are countless I have very high standards however model bakery definitely lived up to them and I would suggest anyone in the area pop in for a sweet treat or a breakfast or lunch.

Every time I visit this place, I always end up bringing some bread home. It's my kids' favorite bakery -- they absolutely love it! Even though it's quite far from where I live, I never miss a chance to stop by whenever I visit my sister. The warm interior reflects the shop's long-standing tradition.

This place is an institution and we had to make a visit. We went early on a Saturday and it was already very busy. We managed to get a table on the patio which was okay - hard to move around the restaurant with how busy it was as. Wish it was a bit more laid back - peaceful but it's popular for a reason. We both had breakfast sandwiches and black coffees. The biscuit was great and the bacon portion was generous. That was good because the prices were a bit high - that's why I knocked off a star.

Can never go wrong with this place! A must every time I'm passing through for work. The chocolate croissants are my fave. Plus, look at the size of this thing!

We came here twice during our weekend trip. Nice selection of savory dishes for breakfast and the cookies were great too! Service is ok in that they want to help! The set up for ordering is confusing- yes the line starts on the far right side but you order drinks and menu food at the register. Can only order/pick pastries at the pastry counter. One star off for consistently not preparing my italian soda based on number of pumps I asked for. One was too sweet (standard is 4-5pumps but he wasn't sure.) the other was not enough syrup. Not a huge deal because the food is lovely and folks who work here are very kind. Cute inside with cafe tables that are first come, first served so if you want to sit after ordering, have someone in your group get the table while you wait in line to order.

Bomb bakery! You gotta go... I have had this bakery twice and will be back a third! My first time, I got the sausage sando, but this time I got the veggie sando and added sausage. It was absolutely insanely delicious. We also stocked up on some amazing sourdough and muffins for the week. Don't skip the blueberry scone!!! Coffee is bomb too! Vibe is just a classic bakery with lots of outside seating.

The famous English muffins...enjoyed one with the veggie sandwich. The coffee was just ok...would recommend grabbing a coffee to-go somewhere nearby before heading to the Model Bakery to place your order. Line was long, but it moves quickly and they call your name out when your order is ready and bring it to your table.

We got the croissant-wich and the apricot scone. I added avocado to my sandwich and it was so good, I would order it again! (Edit: we went to another model bakery location the next day). The apricot scone was decent, but wasn't my favorite. Food took a while to prepare (prepare to wait 20-30 min) but was a great breakfast before we went to a couple wineries for tastings in Napa!

When you stick out like a sore thumb, sometimes it's a sign that you've stepped into a local's place, not a tourist trap. Sam's General Store is named after the man who started the Gold Rush. They're an artisanal cafe serving specialty coffee and matcha drinks, pastries (from Starter Bakery), breakfast bites, salads, and sandwiches. Their OG location is in Calistoga and their St. Helena location opened in 2025. Online ordering available. D R I N K S * Iced Latte ($6) w/ oat milk (+85 cents) - Add vanilla cold foam + whipped cream (+$1) - Request half-caffeine I couldn't find a small business in Napa Valley that offers a Einspänner but Sam's offers the components so you can make one. The latte was smooth and roasty with the cold foam adding a creamy sweetness and the whipped cream an extra later of richness. Pretty solid. * Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte w/ strawberry foam, extra shot of matcha ($9.25) - Batched made, not hand-whisked - Cannot adjust sweetness It looks nothing like the layered drink on their website and IG. Also, the color was dull, so either the matcha was oxidized or it's poor quality. Sadly, it tasted like a Crumbl cookie in liquid form. Even with the extra shot of matcha, there was no matcha flavor and tasted like an incredibly sweet strawberry milk. I hate wasting money but we tossed it. * NY Lox & Bagel w/ gravlax salmon, cream cheese, pickled red onions, cucumbers & capers ($17) - Served open-faced, no mods available - Bagels are flown in weekly from NY but shop/brand is not specified Deliciously chewy, lightly toasted plain bagel layered with rich, creamy schmear and silky, buttery lox. The fresh tang and crunch from the pickled red onions and pickled cucumbers balanced everything perfectly, adding brightness to each bite. Unfortunately, my experience fell short in a few meaningful ways. I ordered a lavender coffee latte, which I was really looking forward to, but it lacked flavor and was disappointing enough that I chose not to purchase anything further. That alone might not have stopped me from returning, but what followed did. Knowing European culture, and especially Parisian cafés, are often very dog-friendly, and given Napa's well-known dog-loving atmosphere, I felt comfortable bringing my dog, who is a service animal. I was immediately asked to leave because only service animals are allowed, with the assumption made that my dog was not one. While he is in fact a service animal, the interaction left me feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. There was no curiosity or neutral clarification... just an assumption and a request to leave. That moment really deflated the excitement I had walking in. Between the coffee experience and feeling unwelcome, I decided not to stay as long as planned or purchase anything further. I'm glad to see that others have had better experiences here, and the pastries certainly look lovely. I suppose those interested should trust other reviewers on that front. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I won't be returning.

Clean, curated interior, great energy, and the kind of pastry case that immediately makes you abandon any sense of restraint. Come hungry because the menu rewards excess. Some items stood out more than others, but honestly, everything ranged from good to excellent. The coffee was dialed in, the pastries felt intentional instead of trendy, and the whole experience had that rare combination of polish without pretension. Absolutely worth returning for Parking? Lot We had: Coffee (5/5): exactly what good cafe coffee should be. Balanced, flavorful, and structured enough to stand up to the sweeter pastries without getting lost. Smooth profile, clean finish, no bitterness Bacon Sampler (Benton's, Nueske's, Hill's, Candied) (5/5): sounds gimmicky until it hits the table. Then you realize someone actually thought this through. Each bacon had its own personality, but the candied bacon was the standout. Perfect balance of smoke, salt, fat, and sweetness Smoked Trout Rillettes (5/5): this was excellent. The smoked trout had real depth without becoming overpowering, and the creme fraiche completely changed the game by adding a cool, tangy richness that balanced everything out. Spread onto the bread, it created those perfect bites where texture and flavor all lock together at once Calistoga Crunch (5/5): absolute chaos visually, somehow beautiful anyway. It looked like something your toddler proudly makes during Christmas and you hang on the tree because you weirdly love it. But flavorwise, this thing was seriously dialed in! Sweet, crunchy, salty, textured, layered. Every component worked. One of the better cookies I've had in a long time Strawberry Tea Cake (5/5): dense in the way a good tea cake should be, but still light enough to avoid feeling heavy. The strawberry flavor came through naturally without turning artificial or overly sweet. Simple yet elegant, and incredibly easy to keep eating Pain au Chocolat (4/5): still good, but the weakest of the group. The pastry leaned a little brittle and slightly dry, lacking some of that buttery pull and softness you want from a great pain au chocolat. The chocolate itself was solid, and it was still enjoyable overall, just not something I'd specifically come back for

We were immediately impressed with the display of breads and pastries and the clean layout of the restaurant. After reviewing the menu descriptions, we decided to give them a try. I'm glad we did! Hot chicken and Croffle: First, this is not your average eggo waffle. They start with a lightly sweetened, waffle-pressed croissant under a tender moist chicken breast with a light and flaky crust with a pronounced crunch. The spiciness was enough to get your attention but not overpower the moist chicken or the waffle. Wow! Avocado toast: I'm not usually a fan of avocado toast but after watching the servers deliver more than a few to customers in the short time we were in line, I had to see what the appeal was. This was a work of literal art. The avocado was whipped and appeared to be piped onto the toast like icing on a fancy cake. Then it was carefully decorated with radishes, peppers and some other seasonings. It was delicious! The coup de gras was the Mandarin Mousse with madarin parfait, mandarin confit tenbrink olive oil chiffon and white chocolate. This looked like a tiny mandarin orange with a tiny peppermint striped straw sticking out of it! Every single bite was an adventure in the layering flavors. It was so delicate but the orange "peel" was actually textured white chocolate cooled to form a shell that you break through to get to the parfait and confit inside. Even the "straw" was white chocolate with a mint flavor. Excellent presentation and execution!
