If you're in the area, you MUST get these English muffins! Even if you're not in the area! They're worth a detour! I don't like English muffins, but the Model Bakery ones are indescribably delicious. They're buttery, puffy, and huge. I didn't really eat English muffins before this, but now I definitely can't ever eat another place's English muffin. The staff are also extremely kind and the seating area is beautiful. The cashier gave us a free small focaccia the other day - we ordered one, paid, and then changed our minds and wanted a second, and she told us it was free of charge. Grab this per a friend's recommendation on the way to a winery for a quick breakfast. We ordered online to avoid crowds because we were in a rush but the order went super smoothly and the food was still warm despite ordering it an hour ahead of time. I didn't know what to expect but that was the best English muffin I have ever had. I got the veggie sandwich and I kept having about it as I was eating it. I thought wine would be my trip highlight but this sandwich was definitely the highlight. We stopped by on a Saturday around 10am and got lucky as the line got super line behind us. Loved the breakfast sandwiches here. We got one on a biscuit and one on an English muffin (both with sausage instead of bacon). Loved both but think the biscuit was a little better, despite being famous for their English muffins. We also got a cortado, which was pretty decent. They are currently under construction so they had an addendum open out in the back with a couple of small tables for seating. Side street parking was available. We went around 9am on a Sunday before wine tastings and there wasn't much of a line. Only 2-4 people ahead of us or so. We were in and out after 30 min (including finishing our sandwiches). Update for 2024: Things have changed here, and we will not be returning. Sadly, I have to agree with fellow reviewers appalled by the level of customer service. The property has been updated since my first review in 2018 - inside looks much newer, and there are now video screens for the menu offerings and "skip the line" digital ordering. That's the extent of the good. The bad? The incredibly rude, hostile, and unwelcoming behavior and demeanor of all but one of the staff means my wife and I will never be returning to this place until changes are reported. There is one counter-person who clearly does not really want to be working here or interacting with customers. I can certainly understand how dealing with tourists can become stale and a drag...but don't take it out on friendly, understanding, and generally kind patrons. And it wasn't just us...EVERY interaction we witnessed by this counter-person (the older, heavier one) was just mean-spirited, dismissive, patronizing, and rude. EVERY one. And it gets worse. The baristas are ALSO passionless, just going through the motions without any energy or joy. Their interactions with actual customers was the rudest I have ever seen - refusing to even grunt a reply to a polite question or request. Just staring my wife in the eye without any response whatsoever. What ever has happened with management, staff, and organizational culture, I sincerely hope the (new?) owners figure it out. Because what has happened is they have most effectively and efficiently found the best way to turn loyal customers into "AVOID THIS VENUE AT ALL COSTS" advocates. You would be better off brewing your own coffee and buying donuts at a convenience store. Compare that with my prior review in 2018 and you can infer the stark changes we experienced. read more

I've been lucky enough to come here a few times and each time I've been very happy with that decision. The coffee itself is very good, and the Lavender Latte is one of the very few that hit all of the notes I would want. Not too sweet, but still a bit of flavor. It's a high quality place as far as I can tell. I was working in the area and I needed coffee and it was open at 6 AM. Other coffee places in the area open at 8? Coffee was excellent. $4.50 for a large, I got two... just for me... they messed up and gave me three... Gave me the extra one instead of pouring it out. The two people working the front area were very nice! Service was great. There is no public restroom FYI! Street parking. Place is clean and quiet, filled with retired local guys chatting and razzing with other. It is a 5 star place, I only gave it 4, but it's 4plus. Since it has no public bathroom and a breakfast sandwich is $13. I gave it four. Prices are high but this is a tourist town in California. Say no more. $23 for two coffees and a breakfast sandwich. I came here because of the reviews, TikToks, and it showing up on Oprah's list. I'm mainly reviewing their breakfast sandwiches since that's all I got and didn't get any other pastries. I don't think there was anything special about them and they were quite pricey for what it was. $10.50 for the original breakfast sandwich and $10.75 for the bacon and egg croissant sandwich. The english muffin were really fluffy and crispy which is very different from the usual dry english muffin that I've gotten. The rest of the sandwich wasn't too special. They mentioned that it takes 15 mins for made to order items but we got our sandwiches pretty quick, it wasn't very crowded though so probably why it was a quick order. A lot has changed since my first review in 2022. Renovation is over, place is as busy as they can be. They definitely got a better coffee, baked goods are okay and sandwiches are really good. Yet I will go down to 1 star. This place has the most unwelcoming staff I've seen in Napa valley. No one ever smiles, they always look tired, even at 7:30 AM, when I ask a question I really almost feel guilty, as they look like they struggle answering. Another thing - they raised their prices to a level of insanity. Two cappuccinos and a muffin came out to $21. I had the same order three days before for a different price, so I asked if the price was correct. The person looked at me over her shoulder with a look of disgust and mumbled something. Hungry and already having struck out on one bakery (closed for maintenance) Yelp helped us find the Model Bakery. It was still open, served sandwiches, so we were set! Even though it was past the lunch hour there was a line, and a continuous stream of people coming in while we were there - a good sign. I wanted something warm, so I ordered a cheese sandwich; my wife ordered the tuna sandwich. She noticed a sign about their muffins: Oprah had given them her "Best Muffin Award"! We chose a bag of half a dozen, also some pastries. By this time there wasn't any seating available so we took our prizes and drove somewhere close to have lunch. The sandwiches were excellent! My cheese sandwich had several different cheeses and was *very* cheesy. My wife loved her tuna sandwich as it was different from your normal tuna: the bakery had added nuts and maybe some different seasonings. The bear claw we had was good, but I wished it had had some more filling. But the best was yet to come: the muffins! These were not sweet muffins, more like a cross between unsweetened donuts and English muffins. Took a nice drive up valley to try the St. Helena location after the remodel. The young people working the counter seem very unhappy and need some customer service training. While waiting in line, she dropped the baguette bag on the floor, proceeded to pick it up and shove the lady's baguette into it. The lady asked her nicely for a new baguette to which she rolled her eyes and asked her coworker to take over. I, too, had an issue and had to get the manager involved to get a small refund. It was a small refund but it was the principal of the matter. To the unhappy young lady working in a predominantly tourist town, Six Flags is hiring and you might be happier there. We'll stick to our local Napa location where we go weekly to get our bread and are treated with lots of smiles and the best customer service.
