Model has several locations around Napa. This location is in the cute St. Helena downtown area. We found easy street parking. After taking a look at all our delicious options, settled on breakfast sandwiches. Such a good choice. Hubby got the chorizo and I got Model's original breakfast sandwich. The English muffin was SO delicious. Nice and crusty on the outside and inside was soft. Both sandwiches were awesome. Bought some English muffins to toast at home with their spread. OMG! A must! Went back to take four packages back to the east coast. You can refrigerate or freeze them. They do ship, but why pay shipping when I was there to take home. I definitely recommend coming here and trying their pastries! They have a lot of variety and you can order online to skip the line! Even when you order online to pickup, you can order some more items when you're picking up. The line is normally out the door, so definitely recommend ordering online. Just be warned that the line can get backed up when you're picking up since you can still order some more food. I had to wait a bit because the person in front of me ordered at least $80 worth of food on top of her online order. We just got the English muffins with jam, Saint Helena bacon burrito, and a side of has brown. I definitely came here to try the English muffins as Oprah gets them here and they were pretty good! This review is mainly for the service, or lack there of. If you are thinking of ordering delivery, don't. We ordered breakfast sandwiches at 6:55am from the Model Bakery website to be delivered 10 min away. By 7:45 still no delivery. We called to check on the order and it had been done for 10+ min and "waiting for the delivery driver". By 8:15 I called to see if it was on its way...it was still sitting there. I finally decided to drive over and pick it up myself. When I arrived at 8:30 (an hour and a half after the order was placed) I spoke with the manager to see if they could at least make fresh sandwiches. She said they couldn't as it wasn't "their fault", it was the delivery service. I'm not asking for a refund, just some fresh breakfast sandwiches that you charge $15 each for that probably cost you a couple bucks to make. Fingers were being pointed at everyone else (Toast, DoorDash, Model Bakery, etc) Good customer service would have been to make fresh sandwiches and handle your partnership with your delivery service and any food waste fees between you two. DoorDash told us to take it up with Model Bakery, and then Model Bakery told us to talk to DoorDash. Not a pleasant experience read more

The famous english muffins. We ordered them both in sandwich format and with jam. The sandwich format flattens the muffins, so get them with jam if you want the fluffiness. It's delicious english muffin, but we think it's cuz they fry the exterior to get that crisp. I was disappointed in the croissant. It was hard and stale the next day. To my surprise and relief there were no customers in line. I had a lunch reservation to get to so I didn't have time to browse through their baked items, but their selection looked good. English muffins: still as delicious as I remember from a few years ago. They taste nothing like English muffins you get from McDonald's or the store bought packages. Pop them into the air fryer or toaster for a bit and you get a perfectly crispy cornmeal exterior and the fluffiest interior ever! Another quick Napa get away, another bite of Oprah's fav English muffin, this time at the St Helena location. Napa is not the best place to visit if you want to stay slim. Toasted English muffin once again was perfect: made with clarify butter, hot & fluffy inside, toasted to golden crisp outside, slapped some butter on top that melted almost instantly. You can choose from a variety of jams: strawberry, apricot, rasperry. The latter was always sold out in our previous 6 trips to other locations. This time we struck gold, the rasperry jam was fresh & light in texture, came in small sauce containers instead of the usual commercial tiny packages. Chippotle pesto breakfast sandwich was very good. Using the same buttery muffin, canadian bacon was tender, egg was fluffy, but we still prefer the original sausage breakfast sandwich. We also tried the vegetarian pizza the next day, the dough was too thick & bready for my likings. Street parking was plentiful 8 am on a week day. It tasted essentially like carrot cake topped with coconut flakes! The English Muffin is $2.50 each! Toasted with Butter or Cream Cheese is $3! Toasted with jam is $3.25! I recommend the toasted with butter! Classic! 6 packs is $14! I CAN TOTALLY SEE WHY OPRAH SHIPS THESE TO HER HOME!! They were delicious! Make sure if you're bringing some home to toast them!! It makes a big difference! This location cuts the English muffin and then toast it! Other locations don't! There is a long wait after ordering especially if you're getting a hot sandwich! They were doing a 50% off cake slices, but they didn't have any available when I got there :( I was so sad! One lady at the register had no clue what I was talking about! We came up north from So cal to visit wine country. I was doing research on wineries to visit in Napa and came across this bakery that many were raving about due to the English muffins being on Oprah's favorite things. We drove from Santa Rosa where we were staying, to this location in Saint Helena. It was not crowded but I went ahead and ordered online to do a curb side pick up. Got there a little earlier than my order time so I called and they said they'd get started on it and bring it to my car. I parked in the alley on Money street. I ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches (English muffin, croissant) and 2 toasted English muffins on the side, one with raspberry preserves and the other with strawberry preserves. The sandwiches were a good size, the eggs were fluffy and the muffins tasted fresh. Not your typical Thomas English muffin but that's what made this experience worth trying. The bacon on the sandwiches was the real thick bacon not the skinny fast food kind! I also ordered a Chai latte with an add shot. The latte was pretty good, nothing special IMO. I walked inside the bakery to see it, while my husband waited in the car. While inside I ordered a bear claw and a snickerdoodle cookie. The cookie was TINY for almost 2 bucks! The bear claw was a good size and was fresh. I asked for a claw toward the bottom of the pile since a fly was flying around landing on things. The woman working there was courteous enough to listen to my request. Overall I'd say it was worth visiting while in Napa valley. Certainty a "treat" while in vacation. read more

Model bakery is living on the reputation of their English muffins. This Thanksgiving I ordered an apple pie and it was the worst. The apples must've been cooked first and then put in the pie and cooked again . It should've been called an applesauce pie.. Truly disappointing . And a $38 a travesty . I ordered the pie and dinner rolls a week before Thanksgiving, on the Wednesday when I went in to get the pie, the weight staff was in disarray. The counter staff were chaotic almost didn't know what they were doing. It's so sad to see that no one really trains employees anymore. Tow of the employees that were working the counter, we're actually rude to customers. Quite frankly, you can go down to buttercream bakery, in Napa and get a much better pie at half the price . Love love love The Model Bakery!! It is a must-visit whenever in the St. Helena area! We preorder a few packs of their famous, buttery, and delicious English Muffins online since they often sell out quickly. Their sausage breakfast sandwiches are amazing as well- they use the same English Muffins. If you order it toasted, it comes with a few slabs of butter and some fresh jam. I prefer it with just butter but it tastes so good with their jam. You'll still need to stand in line and check in with the cashier for your online order. A cute little bakery that had a crowd of people waiting outside for their order. So, social distancing is enforced inside the bakery, but there's so much that you can do outside. They were out of spinach wraps, so I ended up getting a chicken sandwich. Another person in my group got a turkey sandwich. Chicken and turkey are both quite tasty. They did not call out our orders, so we were waiting for a while and watched other customers who came after us pick up their order. I recently tried the English muffins for the first time and i must say that I was blown away by how light and delicious they were! Because I make every attempt to avoid glyphosate containing foods, I was curious as to whether or not they are made with organic, glyphosate-free flour, I went to their website. The first thing that I came across was a video which showed how the English muffins are made. In the video was a bag of Red Rose flour, which is Central Milling's non-organic line of flour, can be seen sitting on the floor in the background. This peaked my curiosity so I emailed the company to inquire. In their response, I was told that Model Bakery uses organic flour in all of their products, per the general manager. I'm not sure how old the video on their website is but it appears to contradict what I was told. I also watched a YouTube video from 2014 spotlighting their English muffins, whereby the baker can clearly be seen dumping a bag of Red Rose non-organic flour into a large mixing bowl. Further, on their website, I only see that their breads,in their ingredients list, are noted to contain organic flour. The flour in all other baked goods is listed only as, "flour" or " all purpose" flour. While it's quite possible that Model Bakery has evolved and is now using organic flour in ALL of their products, I would appreciate transparency by updating the ingredients to include organic flour if this is the case. There is no denying that these are the best English muffins that I've ever tasted but I would enjoy them even more if the owners would confirm that their products contain organic whole wheat flour (not enriched wheat) by disclosing it in each product's ingredients list. This review is in no way a criticism of their products but rather, an attempt to seek clarification on the matter addressed above. read more

I had to check out this place since it was on Oprah's list of her favorite places. I got here around lunch on a Thursday. The place wasn't too busy. I looked at the menu and was glad that there were things that would fill me up for lunch and decided to go with the breakfast sandwich. The bread was toasted, which added a nice touch to the sandwich because I was dreading the chewiness that comes with the muffins. The cheese was gooey just like the commercials when you separate the 2 halves of the sandwich. The flavor didn't completely blow me away, but it was nice and I was hungry so I finished the whole thing. Overall, I can see how others would like it. My mother-in-law loves this place, and we have another friend that wanted to make this a stop on our recent trip to Napa. I haven't a clue why. We've come here a couple times. The most recent time we tried their bread, which was decent, good, but really just average, and nothing special. There is no X factor, like how you have in your first bite of Tartine bread. They do have hot food items here too, like breakfast burritos, which we did order one for our friends. The breakfast burrito took a solid 15 min wait - very frustrating on our way to wine tasting. The shop is kind of dated, but not even in a cute way. The layout is a little awkward, with cafe self-serve seating in the middle, and the line forming on the opposite side of the bakery, so you have to walk through people sitting down.
