    The Chef's at work!
    David H.

Napa Valley Crust was perfect for our event at Crane Park in St. Helena. We got the chef's choice pizza package plus beer and wine with a bartender. What great service! They showed up right on time and had all the food ready to go by the time our guests arrived. Most importantly, the pizza was really good! The chef made all sorts of creations. Several of our guests came up to me the following day to tell us how good the food was. If you're having an event in St. Helena or Calistoga, book Napa Valley Crust!

The pizza oven on a trailer that they brought versus the truck we requested and were told would be there.

My husband and I chose Napa Valley Crust to cater our recent wedding at Triple S Ranch in Calistoga. We intentionally selected very few vendors to keep things as simple as possible and avoid issues. Napa Valley Crust was the only vendor we had issues with. We were very excited about the vintage food truck option NVC offered, and it was the reason we chose them. We spoke with Betty twice about it over the phone. Both times she let us know there may be an extra charge to bring the truck down the bumpy road, as it requires a special tow truck. We agreed to pay the fee, and were happy when she let us know she would waive it due to our number of guests. Betty also mentioned that there was an option to bring a small pizza oven instead of the truck, but we both let her know we chose them specifically because of the food truck option and did NOT want the small oven. After our ceremony at a local church we arrived to the reception venue to find that there was no food truck. They had brought the small pizza oven, towed by a large SUV. Literally just a small oven on a trailer. They were also using the ranch's pizza oven to cook. It was incredibly disappointing and I was on the verge of tears. As anyone planning a wedding knows there are many options for food. The sole reason we went with Napa Valley Crust was the beautiful food truck and the rustic vibe it would bring to the wedding. We thought it would be unique and cool. I would definitely not have paid over $3,000 for a pizza oven pulled by an SUV. Initially (mind you this is at our reception), Betty told us it they didn't bring the truck because we had waited so long to turn in our contract. There is no spot on the contract to specify what type of truck you want. We had to remind her of our multiple phone conversations where we told her we specifically wanted the food truck. Our mistake was trusting conversations rather than putting everything in writing. Eventually she apologized but initially the blame was put on us. We tried to convince them to bring the truck but they said they called the tow truck driver and he was out of town and is the only person they work with. We were lucky our family had prepared a side feast and our guests didn't complain. The pizza was fine which is why we are giving two stars instead of one. Betty carried food upstairs to the guests and offered to remove their trash to make up for it. She also gave us a $322 discount. Honestly though I am torn on whether or not that is enough. We are more than happy to pay for services rendered (of course) and all of our vendors were paid in full with no issues. But with an automatic gratuity of $552 I think it would have made more sense to waive the gratuity when they didn't provide the services agreed upon. Who would pay $3,000 for a pizza oven on a trailer? I am including a pic of the type of oven that was there versus the truck we had asked for were told would be there. The only other unexpected aspect was one of their employees was sitting downstairs at the venue in a chair by the fireplace, with his feet up, reading a book for the majority of the time they were there. Of course we all need breaks but I found that slightly unprofessional. It was a spot for guests. Especially with an automatic 20% gratuity and the fact that they are only there a few hours, combined with the lack of a food truck. I think gratuity should be optional when things go awry If you choose NVC for your event I would say get every detail in writing and do not trust any phone conversations. I personally would not use them again nor would I recommend them. Changed to one Star when owners refused to refund the charge for five guests who did not show up in spite of Betty telling me over the phone that the number on the contract can be changed. At $40 a person that was an extra $200 they feel they deserve to keep for services they didn't render, on top of not bringing the food truck they promised. Shows the level of customer service and integrity they have. He also said in his voicemail they couldn't have brought the truck that day due to weather. There was not a drop of rain that day. And he told us at the reception he tried to get the truck. So which is it? No truck due to nonexistent rain or you guys forgot the food truck the tow truck driver was out of town? If food is an important aspect of your event, don't trust this company.

Absolutely amazing experience!! We hired Napa Valley Crust for our wedding welcome party and they were outstanding! Everyone said amazing things about the pizza, beautiful vintage wood fire truck and Betty and her family. They were the sweetest people and made the experience so fun and memorable! I definitely recommend them for any event!

Aldo and Betty were amazing! We had them cater our wedding earlier this month and everything was perfection. From start to finish they made our experience easy. They were ready to go on time, the food was amazing especially their s'mores! I'm still dreaming about those s'mores. They made sure all of our guests had everything they needed. It was perfection!

Disorderly service, & it was obvious our server's attention was stretched quite thin. We shared a Chopped Salad ($15.95) which was nothing to write home about; a delicious al dente Rigatoni Bolognese ($19.50); & a disappointing New Yorker pizza ($27.50 for the larger size.) Its soggy crust & tasteless pepperoni made me question why so many tables had a pie as part of their meal. Perhaps I'm missing something, but I would not recommend Pizzeria Tra Vigne for their pizza based on my single visit.

While working in St. Helena, I could never find an opening in a reservation, so here was a great opportunity now that all of us are retired. Our friends live in Clear Lake while we live in Vallejo, so this is a central place to meet. It was the best decision I made because every year for the past several anniversaries, we've gone to Cache Creek to C2. Their food and service is excellent because my husband enjoys poker, but I thought a change of scenery would be nice. And it was! Firstly, it was very kind of the staff to present us with a greeting card signed by everyone -- how sweet and thoughtful! We will cherish that! Secondly, we were very impressed with how the food/wine was locally sourced. It was incredible to hear the story about Custom, the Bull, and taste the difference between the Highland beef compared to Angus. Our waitress was "Erica S." She was engaging, personable, and very informative. My husband and I would definitely like to return to return to experience the dinner menu! We and our guests had the following dishes: Artichoke appetizer Arbororio Biscuits & Gravy Two Cheeseburgers Three Bloody Mary's Farmstead Margarita When they found out it was our anniversary celebration, the house sent over four glasses of complimentary champagne and a dish of dessert -- again, very sweet and kind of them I now understand why so many crowds flock to this restaurant! From the beginning, there seemed to be constant miscommunication between staff. We specifically booked an outdoor reservation and were seated inside instead. While mistakes happen, it set the tone for the rest of the evening. The bigger issue involved the wine and corkage fee. We purchased a bottle directly from the market associated with the restaurant and were told by the employee there that the corkage fee would be waived if we bought their wine. When we sat down, our server Sara told us that was not true and that we would still have to pay the fee. I explained what we had been told, and when she asked if I wanted a manager involved, I said yes. Before the manager even arrived or clarified the situation, the server opened our bottle of wine. In the silence and confusion, I reasonably assumed the fee issue had been resolved. Then the manager came over and told us we would still be charged and implied that nobody at the market would have told us otherwise. The way it was handled made my husband and I feel like we were being accused of making the whole thing up, which was especially upsetting on Mother's Day. At that point, the bottle was already opened, so we were essentially stuck paying the fee regardless. Between being seated incorrectly, the poor communication between employees, and how dismissive the situation felt, the service completely overshadowed what should have been a special meal. The rest of the service we felt ignored and there was minimal effort to accommodate. Great food alone is not enough to justify returning when the hospitality experience feels this frustrating and unprofessional.

I was excited to see a kale salad on their menu, especially one with strong fixings such as squash and goat cheese; sadly, the ingredients were entirely AWOL. In the pre-mix photo, it appears like a relatively decent helping, but after mixing, it became a mountain of kale with the other ingredients having been a facade in the initial viewing. Classic shrinkflation by which a $20 salad (yikes!) is padded by a heap of greenery. Furthermore, the squash was undercooked and disappointing even in the few bites of it I had. I believe that the salad could be adjusted to be a satisfying meal (goat cheese is never a wrong choice), but right now it's a miss, for both the stomach and the wallet.

Small and quaint. Also, the kitchen is open, so if you by chance sit in front of said kitchen, you will smell like food, like we did. My girls and I would normally opt for cocktails, but since we already did a tasting at Domaine Carneros, we needed to sober up a bit. There were a ton of CHP's so 'adulting'! They both got green tea, and I opted for an Americano. Two of us ordered the fazzoletti bolognese, and the other went for the spaghetti alle vongole. All 3 dishes came piping hot! Our bolognese was delicious. I wish I had asked for a side of bread b/c the sauce was good, and I think my friend wanted that for the vongole. Needless to say, we all inhaled our food (we needed carbs for the next tasting). Since we had time to spare, we opted to get dessert. My two friends ordered the affogato, and I opted for the strawberry panna cotta. I loved my panna cotta. It was creamy but not overwhelming, and the strawberries were the right amount of tart and sweetness. PS: their tap water had an aftertaste... it was weird. I ended up drinking my friend's hot water from her tea. Maybe it's RFK's no fluoride on water, but you can opt to get cocktails or not drink it. I will definitely visit again and prepare the wardrobe so that it doesn't end up smelling like food (my blazer had to be dry-cleaned to get the smell out). For the service and quality of food, it's definitely worth checking out, and the prices were reasonable for the area.
