Loved it, first spot we ate coming from the airport. Hidden gem vibes with a huge patio and lots of friendly locals. Servers were very welcoming. Busy Asian inspired American cuisine. Had the oysters which were very fresh, the ahi tuna tartare appetizer. Then for the mains, we had the hamburger which was soooo flavorful with their homemade sauces, the ribs which fell off the bone, and the spicy pad Thai dish that I'm getting the name wrong. But all so flavorful and delicious. The chef was super nice and knew my sister in law, Fran. Much enjoyed. Will be back!

I've been visiting Underwood for more than a decade as the food and service are consistently on point. I appreciate the full bar as well as the nice wine list as I also enjoy coming on a beautiful day just to enjoy a drink out in the outdoor patio. Two of my favorite entrees are the steak frites and the burger as they prepare both perfectly. They recently added some Asian inspired entrees to the menu expanding the options for the French bistro fare.

Came here after wine tasting for lunch and to our surprise it was not busy at all! We sat in their outdoor back patio. All shaded and some ceiling fans. We ordered the cheese pizza for our toddler, a salmon entree for me, a beer and burger for my husband and oysters to share. Oysters were good, fresh. My salmon was delicious. The greens went well with the salmon and so did the sauce. I enjoyed it. The pizza was small and crispy, I think the cheese was a little fancier cheese bc it tasted like an upscale pizza. Baby enjoyed it and he ate 2 slices. Husband's burger was good, except I didn't like the blue cheese but he loved it. Overall a great place to stop by for some lunch. Prices were decent.

Went for the 1st time for dinner & it was great. The food & service definitely surpassed my expectation. Definitely coming back and would recommend if in the area.

I don't recall ever being in downtown Graton before, it's kinda small and charming like this place. This restaurant looks like an old school pub, but the menu is teeming with fun creative fusion. Also, very dog friendly on the patio! Oysters: Such a refreshing briny way to start a meal. A nice taste of the sea in the middle of the woods. Loved the tart mignonette sauce against the fresh oyster. Pomme Frites: Huge portion! Great for snacking between oyster bites. Really crunchy. Hoisin Glazed Baby Back Ribs: Super meaty and super tender. The umami and sweet hoisin glaze was a perfect complement to the rich pork. Doesn't look like many ribs but they're covered in meat and quite filling. The fresh coleslaw, with some fruit, was very nice too. Hat Yai Fried Chicken: The fried chicken is great by itself, with crispy skin and moist meat. However, that dipping sauce really took it to the next level: sweet, spicy, sour, umami, salty. All the great flavors. Rice was a good pairing too.

Underwood is a fantastic place. From the location, food, ambience to great service- it's makes for a special night out. It always seems to be busy and the other night was no exception. We had reservations and were seated immediately despite the walk in line. Avocado and tuna starter was delicious but a really really tiny portion for the price. Cocktails were great. For dinner, we tried the duck confit with lentils and my wife tried the steak. Both were good but I'll pass on the duck next time. Deserts were phenomenal- in fact it may have been the best crème brûlée I've ever had at a restaurant. Great place and I look forward to returning soon

I did not expect such inventive food! I was thinking it would be mostly steak, French onion soup, classics... but in addition to those, we ordered Hat Yi fried chicken, Thai-inspired entrees, anchovy crostini, flatbread... lots of variety. The vibe is pretty much perfect: warm, cozy, wood. Perfect for a winter evening.

We went on a horseback ride and got recommended to come to this place afterwards. We're celebrating our honeymoon, so we've been treating ourselves. This place was the the perfect spot to end the day. It may say bar and bistro in the title, but don't let that fool you. The seating is intimate, yet lively. The servers, and bussers are on their A game. And the food? Incredible, fresh, tasty. Can't wait til we can come back again

Business lunch for two today. I really wanted mussels but it's only on their dinner menu. Our server was friendly and patient with us, we were busy yapping and she gave us plenty of time to decide. We had the second best seat in the house at the corner booth. Decor is wood, simple and classy. We started with 1/2 dozen raw oysters. I had the Frisée aux Lardons. He had the BLT with Pomme Frites. Everything was delicious. Our server was very attentive. I didn't have to ask for more water, she was on top of it. They have bar and patio seating as well. We sat on the patio with my dog last time. Overall great visit!

I'm so happy that we finally discovered this locally-loved gem in the charming town of Graton, just a block from Paul Mathew Vineyards tasting room (wine, and then dine!). Like it's sister cafe across the street, Wildwood, Underwood maintains an old-timey bar/bistro vibe but offers a fresh menu of American cuisine, with an interesting Thai influence. They offer a lunch menu, afternoon menu, and dinner menu. We started on the afternoon menu and transitioned into dinner, thankfully beating the rush of regulars coming in for Friday dinner. Be sure to call for a reservation! Although the Thai food sounds delicious, we went the Americana route: -Cauliflower au Gratin - ooey, gooey, warm plate of comfort! Vegetables but make it comfort food! -Baby Lettuce Salad with goat cheese, beets, and almonds - balance! -Braised Short Ribs for him - he licked the plate clean -Burger for me - added cheddar and bacon - a classic burger with lettuce, tomato, pickled red onion, and fries - delish! Service was genuine, warm, welcoming, and attentive...oh-so-Sonoma County, and we love it! We left full and satisfied. We look forward to returning and trying more of their delicious offerings.

The Pizzetta and Lettuce cups were not worth the price.

This is one of my rare 1 star reviews. We wanted to like this place but was truly disappointed. THE SERVICE 3 stars First I want to point out that the service was good. The staff was friendly and approachable. The only downside was trying to flag down our server to get a refill on my soda and it took a while to get the check. THE FOOD 1 Star THAI LETTUCE CUPS $23.75 The dish was absolutely drenched in lime and fish sauce, rendering it inedible. The additional sauce only intensified the overwhelming sourness, making it almost painful to eat. PIZETTA with serrano ham, arugula, manchego cheese, egg $19.75 This was the polar opposite. This was sooo bland that we ate a piece and stopped. I should have sent this back. RAW OYSTERS (half dozen) $24.00 They were good INTERIOR The restaurant is nicely layed out and they have a full bar. I was hoping for something better since there aren't many restaurants in the area. You have better luck getting a decent drink at the bar than the food.

Excellent place to meet an old friend. I had the grai pow and it was so good. My husband and the pad Thai and had no complaints. Our friend had the lettuce cups and was very happy. Nice atmosphere and a great bar!! Little out of the way for us but well worth it.

She was attentive for awhile but then lost us because she stopped coming out and pouring more wine. I was booked for a one hour appointment that took 2 plus hours because Flynn seemed out of it or something was up. But idk what it was perhaps she was keeping herself busy with something inside! Hmmm ?! So she started us with a predominant gooseberry Sauvignon Blanc and then we had the Rose of Pinot Noir from Mendocino because the fruit is less expensive than the fruit in the Russian River Valley okay so it was decent with flavors of ripe red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry and a textured finish! Then we had the Chardonnay which was decent quality for a Chardonnay it had seen 20^ new oak gave it flavor and then we had the Russian River Valley Pinot Noir which was okay not great it had complexity but not much after hitting Paul Mathew's Pinot dense winery this Pinot seemed to be just okay and then we got to the final wine a red Zinfandel from the Sierra Foothills area and it was big and bold but lacking distinctive flavors. I didn't love it! . Then since they're not especially friendly towards those in the business because it's a 15% discount on wines purchased where I usually get a 30% discount and a comped tasting to which they usually will offer the rose' and Sauvignon Blanc to anyone in the industry!! Only I mean who is in the wine industry and wants to drink those wines, not me!! But I stand corrected because she did comp 2 of the tastings!! And that's good or required because I asked to be comped and was given some goofy answer as to they decide at the end of the tasting who gets comped or not but the fee is only $25 bones so not bad. Further, I requested to taste their Cabs to which theirs 1 from Alexander Valley and 1 from Oakville, Napa area and Flynn said yes, but warned me they had been opened on Thursday and it's Saturday so taken that point in I really liked the Cab from Alexander Valley because it had a light tone to it with a richness of blackberry fruit and savory spices it was superb while the one from Napa tasted dead on arrival!! Oh well but I could taste the potential of the wine within it!! And we left after tipping $40 bones!!

What a special day getting to celebrate a special friend's wedding at Vine Hill House. As part of…read morethe bridal party, we spent the entire morning getting ready in the cottage on-site. The space was lovely and spacious. It had a full kitchen that allowed us to snack and stay hydrated throughout the morning. We were all able to gather in the area to have hair and make-up done, but there were also side rooms available for changing and getting ready. The cottage itself is lovely and create a picturesque backdrop for first look photos on the porch. The ceremony site felt intimate under the trees and the dinner area had a beautiful view of the vineyards. This special venue has such a great set up. As a guest, it was nice that everything was all on-site, but there were clear areas that helped designate the reception area from the ceremony turned dance floor. One cool feature was that the bride and groom utilized a side bar area next to the dance floor for a whiskey tasting lounge. It was a unique touch that made their wedding stand out! The venue owner, Dan, was HIGHLY involved throughout the day. He was highly attentive, but also highly present. Something to keep in mind if you'd prefer more behind the scenes vendors. What a joy getting to witness such special friends getting married in such a beautiful place!

Not wishing to tempt fate, I've given I've no thought to how I wish to be remembered (if at all) but the person whose life we celebrated here gave lots of thought to her desires. I don't know whether she specified Vine Hill House for the setting but her offspring remarked lovingly that "she'd have loved it here" and that she was a huge "control freak". That, and the fact that much of the afternoon had been orchestrated by wishes she'd recorded in her notes app had me wondering if, perhaps, she'd actually planned it all. Whoever did, they could not have planned much better. Vine Hill House, with its rural Sebastopol wine-country setting is upscale without being precious. There's an air of comfort to it, reminiscent of the "shabby chic" decorating trend though nothing about the place is shabby; it's an aesthetic. Big jars of white roses sat atop each table. Photos and a slide show were placed in an area where many could view at once. Lunch was available from a food truck serving Mediterranean fare. Wine, beer, and specialty cocktails were provided and desserts were artfully arrayed for guests to help themselves. I can't speak to prices, ADA accessibility, how many people can be accommodated, or the ease of working with staff here but from a guest perspective, Vine Hill House provided exactly what one might wish for a special occasion of any sort.

I started with the creamy chicken croquetas, what a pity there were only three. I could have eaten a dozen. I also had the crispy asparagus and jamon "cigarillos" with manchego and a harissa aioli. Pure bliss. The roasted beets with walnuts and idazabal cheese were delicious and very generous, a reminder that one shouldn't go to a tapas restaurant alone! So take a friend or two and go.

The food though was disappointing. The most interesting item was the clams that came in a cava broth with garlic and parsley. They brought some toasted hearty bread to soak up the sauce. The baby kale salad was also nice with shaved fennel and manchego. The other three dishes were both off and a bit weird. The cauliflower came with bacon, which was good, and sweet dates; the dates were an odd addition and they stuck to your teeth. The calamari, was prepared well - it wasn't chewy - but it just had an off flavor, or at least one I haven't experienced before. Same too for the octopus. This was a much larger portion than typical - two tentacles, plus potatoes and olives. The octopus though was rather mealy. Small Spanish red wine list; only four. Tried two and neither were our favorites. The 1970s-80s classic rock soundtrack was an odd choice for background music.
