Everything is fantastic, from the charming atmosphere and quirky interior design to the generous and well made drinks (I got a gorgeous martini that was like 2.5 martinis), to the delectable clam chowder, salad and prime rib. The service is friendly and welcoming! We had a great time and made some friends at the bar before moving to our table. I can't believe I didn't know about this place before, growing up in Sonoma County since I was 14. Its the very definition of a hidden gem, popular with locals like me, and a real coup for any traveler or tourist who stumbles upon it. I particularly enjoyed our Hostess/Waitress, Taylor! She's the best! And her mother and father (who tends bar) are also incredibly friendly! My compliments to the chef, Fabio. He did my steak perfectly: rare, like I like it! One of our close friends recommended Stormy's. We have never been there before, so our expectations were pretty high. Sadly, it turned out to be disappointing. When we arrived, we were greeted by our waitress. At first, she seemed nice. She introduced herself and told us she was the owner's daughter. We thought it was great that she was helping with her family's business. Then we chose what we were going to eat and that's where everything took a wrong turn. My husband ordered "The king of steaks", which was rib-eye, and I got the prime rib. We also got clam chowder and a salad to share. When our waitress brought the soup, she spilled some on the table. That was totally fine, it happens. But later, when she served the steaks, my husband's steak looked very overcooked. We asked her to remake it, and she took it back to the kitchen. When she came back, she said she won't charge us for it but claimed that under the kitchen lights, it was definitely medium rare. That caught us off guard, because the steak was so overcooked and it was incredibly charred on the outside. On top of that, it was completely unseasoned. My prime rib was also overcooked, closer to medium well than medium rare, so I just gave my piece to my husband and stuck to the soup. The clam chowder was okay, just average. The salad, however, was terrible. The veggies didn't look fresh, and the overall presentation was very unappetizing. Our biggest issue was with the service. As soon as we told our waitress we were not happy with the meat, she became dismissive and spoke to us with an attitude, or ignored us completely. The restaurant is very overpriced for the quality and quantity of food. One last thing worth mentioning is that my husband wore beige shorts, and when we left the restaurant, I noticed stains on the back of his shorts, most likely from the chairs. My first time at Stormy's after many years of hearing great feedback. Didn't disappoint. Prime Rib was excellent, cooked to perfection. The jumbo shrimp was also good. Family style chowder and salad. Our server was also bartender, busser and everything else. She is the Grand daughter of Stormy and she filled us in on all the interesting history of the roadhouse. Meal took 3 hours, but food, atmosphere and history lesson made it worth the time. Really relaxed vibe in an old roadhouse with old bar and fireplace. Went to Stormy's restaurant Friday night with my wife and some friends... we had an absolutely amazing and fun time. The gentleman at the bar was hilarious and told some great history about different liquors. Our server Taylor was a sweetheart with a phenomenal sense of humor, just like the gentleman behind the bar (her father, I believe). The food was 10 out of 10! Soo good. Great food near the coast can be hard to find but Stormy's really delivered. We made a reservation for 5:30 because some reviews said they sometimes run out of top menu choices. The location is a little bit hard to find but we were welcomed warmly on arrival and seated at a great table in front of the fireplace. This is a true family business run by multiple generations of the same family going back decades. We're started out with family style clam chowder which was amazing. Creamy and rich with no thickeners, just fresh clams, celery, potatoes and cream/milk. It does contain bacon so not great for pescatarians. Next up was salad, fresh lettuce mix with tomatoes, cucumbers and onions in a light but tasty vinaigrette. So good we asked for a refill, which they happily provided. After a little bit of a wait our entrees arrived. The ribeye was gorgeous with a nice char. It ranged from medium at the edges to medium rare by the bone. Great flavor and chew with tasty mash and veggies. We also ordered the mushrooms in jus which complemented the steak beautifully. Easily fed two people. Wife got the calamari which was clearly freshly battered and fried. A huge delicious plate! We brought our own wine and paid the reasonable corkage. Overall, a fun and tasty experience. We've been dining at Stormy's for 3 decades. Tomorrow my wife and I will once again visit Stormy's to celebrate our 50th anniversary.

I wanted to give them 0 star but we have had good meals there long ago. Our reservation was for 6pm, we got there early and were seated soon after. It took 10 minutes before a waitress came and said they were busy and they will be with us soon. At 6:20 they took our drinks order. It was another 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order. It was very frustrating and quite frankly just unacceptable. It was 7pm by the time they brought soup. The clam chowder was good and was followed by a simple salad which was ok, nothing of note. The main course finally came, most of our party ordered prime rib. For $55 I looked down at my plate and was really disappointed. What was supposed to be a 22oz cut didn't look that size at all. The mashed potatoes offered were such a small portion it was a joke. This was better than the tiny bit of vegetables they gave us. The meat was cooked properly but honestly they had likely given out all the good cuts to patrons before us. My piece, which I split with my wife had a huge chunk of fat on it, roughly 20% of the cut. It was very disappointing. My wife ordered the "split plate, with just the veggies and potatoes. For $18 her plate was a joke. The ambiance was so noisy I couldn't hear the people at our table. The bar was very nice but I don't drink. All told without tip the 8 of us paid $322. It was so disappointing that when we got in the car to leave we decided that we would never return. Been here many times but I wanted to express the great job our waitress did as she was the only waitress. The menu isn't large but the food we got was delicious. The fried appetizers ( onion rings, zucchini planks) as well as my fried shrimp entree were so good! crispy and seasoned so good! dinner comes with the only soup they have which is clam chowder, very tasty, and a simple but yummy salad. The other entrees we had were rib eyes, also delicious...don't forget to order the sautéd mushrooms for that steak! Hope you're full after dinner because they don't always have dessert. Hands down one of my favorite places in Sonoma County. Taylor is awesome so be around. Everyone there treats you as if you are part of their family. We had the clam strips to start. So yummy. I ordered the rack of lamb and husband had the bone in rib eye. First course is bread and clam chowder...the chowder is an absolute favorite. And next comes salad. The dressing is so good that we bought a jar to go. Fresh veggies, mashed potatoes...just perfect. The portions are huge! All dinners come with soup salad bread mashed potatoes veggies and an entree. We had the large cut prime rib which is huge and had the soup salad bread extra setting at a modest $14 charge. We had way enough food and prime rib cooked to perfection. Only negative was bread not the best. We paid corkage fee for $14 and brought our own wine. Very disappointed. I called for take out yesterday afternoon. A lady picked up and told me they are closed today "due to no reservations". Scary! On their website they are actually showing closed all weekend long "due to unforeseen circumstances". I wanted to eat here due to the history and longevity of this roadhouse but I thought about it. My boyfriend surprised me with a day trip up to Petaluma saying Stormy's is the best steakhouse around! We drove an hour and I must say it was well worth the drive! The customer service here was nothing short from amazing! Stormy's is a unique experience and one of the best-kept dining secrets north of the Golden Gate Bridge. I hadn't been there since covid and didn't know what to expect, but had dinner last night with a couple of friends, and I'm happy to report that Stormy's is still Stormy's! If you're not a vegetarian, you owe it to yourself to have "supper" at Stormy's at least once. For all the places that call themselves saloons, Stormy's really is a saloon. You'll see local ranchers packed around the bar, and if you want to give them all a good laugh order a blended drink. Expect family-style, starting with large bowls of clam chowder and salad to share. The prime rib and New York cut at our table were phenomenal, and the steaks I saw hitting the other tables looked the same. And the vibe is just great. We were trading friendly barbs with the waitress, shout-out to Taylor, and laughing it up with other diners. I must have said three times out loud that I was glad we decided to go back to Stormy's. Don't go there looking for "fancy", but if you like fresh meat served with a rustic slice of old-time Americana, there's really nothing like Stormy's. read more

I don't go out of my way to post reviews unless I feel there is a good reason. Like, if I feel the reviews are unfairly weighted or just plain ridiculous. Early this evening I got a text from a member of our party saying that they had read some poor Yelp reviews. My first thought: yippy yay, I don't give a rat's rear. I don't put a whole lot of faith in Yelp's reviews system. No one should. But I checked them out because I was curious. We, as planned, had dinner. This is my second time having dinner here. (I've probably been 4 or 5 times, but only twice as a reasonable adult with a right to have an opinion.) We were greeted the same way as the last time: kindly and quickly. We went to our table where some of our party were already waiting, and we were quickly served drinks and appetizers. The drinks were strong and tasty. The appetizer portions were huge and they were delicious. I wandered around and checked out the place while we waited for the rest of our party. I can't help it when I'm there. The place is like a museum. It's just beautiful. A throwback to when people wanted to eat and be merry. This place does not have hot towels when you sit, or cocktails named after your college's mascot. They serve strong drink and great food. You can tell from the people that are here, they're like family. Everybody seems happy and chatty. We sat and had wonderful meals. There wasn't a bad dish at the table. The clam chowder is delicious. Better than 95% of the chowder we tasted at the Bodega chowder fest. The salad is good. I'm not a big salad eater, but it was tasty. Good produce and good dressing. The bread and butter was great as well. There wasn't one entree that didn't deliver. They were all delicious. The shrimp were maybe the weakest dish. Not bad, but not something I'd order again. All this said, so many of the negative reviews come from people you can tell you wouldn't waste air talking to. They obviously have no business reviewing a toilet, let alone a dining establishment. The owners and staff here will go out of their way to make you feel at home...assuming you're not a total knob. They're not going to kiss your rear and tell you you're a phenomenal human being. If you require that, keep to the hipster places in downtown Petaluma. To the establishment: thanks for being what so few places manage to be - real. Thanks for being the kind of place people want to be at. I'd hang out here always if I could. So few of these old places left. Keep them afloat! read more

However, you will be hard pressed to find a better prime rib dinner in all of Sonoma County. That said, it will set you back a few dollars. My father-in-law always enjoyed his end cuts, and Stormy's did not disappoint. The meat is juicy and flavorful , with just the right amount of fat. And the clam chowder, some of the best I have ever tried, even in New England. The vibe is pretty casual, and there is a full bar. If you want a carnivore's delight, Stormy's is your place. 3 of us went to Stormy's for Father's Day. Worst meal ever. Had a reservation for 6:00 pm was seated around 6:10 then totally ignored. Waitress went over and took orders for a party of 5 that was seated way after us. Didn't take our orders till I called the waitress over and asked why she took their order when we were seated first and had been waiting for over 20 minutes. We even asked if we could uncork the wine we brought as we were thirsty. Brought us soup it was lukewarm bread was old and crumbly not even good. Ordered a 16 ounce prime rib medium rare it was so tough you could hardly cut it with the steak knife. My sister and i shared It we should of sent it back, but we hungry and kept thinking it was going to get better. My brother n law had the steak scallopini it was okay nothing great. At the end of the meal the waitress asked how our meal was and I told her it was the worst prime rib ever. She was like sorry that's it at $40.00 for the meal that's nothing to sneeze at these days. I don't usually write reviews, but this whole experience was so bad I had to as I've been to Stormy's years ago and they were good. Now they are a totally bad. I hadn't been to here before, but my family had. I did enjoy the quaintness of this place and felt like I was on an episode of Virgin River. The restaurant was pretty empty, there were a few people at the bar. We were seated at a table right away, ordered our drinks then ignored for a good half hour. We finally ordered. We had children with us who were antsy. The soup was very watery, not your typical clam chowder, more like Manhattan style, but white. The bread was obviously cheap grocery store French bread, cold. Over an hour later, our entrees arrived. My sister in laws prime rib was cold. My brother asked for medium rare l, his steak was more than well done. Three of us had the prawns. I've had better from Popeyes! Very disappointing and expensive. I don't like to bash local businesses, but Stormy's needs to do better. read more
