So, while there are no aquariums. I understand why they kept the name. There is a lady name Corina (Kor-e-nuh). Who is the most SWEETEST lady. And has to be an octopus because she was everywhere. Serving and bussing about 6 tables at a time. Our drink always remained full. She passed by every few minutes to eye ball if we needed something but kept going when she noticed we were talking. So non invasive while also SOOOOO attentive. Gave her a 50% tip. NOW. On to the food. Holy smokes you guys... the FOOD. Sooooo good. So much for so cheap. Shrimp po boy - 12/10. Calamari steak 15/10. Appetizer salad was a FULLY loaded salad. Cobb salad had SO MUCH chicken and eggs. If you haven't been here, don't walk but RUN there for some good food, super clean surroundings and wonderful staff. A customer told me this place makes a delicious steak sandwich so I thought I would check it out. Lunch starts at 11:30 so I stopped in and ordered a steak sandwich and fries. The cleanliness throughout was immaculate. The Bartender was very nice and a local Gentleman kept me company giving me a little history of the bar. The steak was tender and juicy served on a fresh roll. I definitely will be returning when I'm craving a good steak sandwich. read more

We went to the Aquarium for corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's day. There were dozen and dozens of open tables. We sat a the first one that DID NOT have a reserved sign. The waitress asked us how many were in our party. We said 2 She then Rudely at best said that is was a table for and said the table was reserved even though no sign. We politely asked her where she would like us to sit. Again rudely said I don't know and walked off. We waited around a few minutes and just left. That waitress may be in the wrong line of work with her current attitude and disposition. We always liked going there for lunch. No more. I have lived in Petaluma for over 15 years and never been here so wanted to try. I got the clam chowder, I would give it a 3. I would not order again but was alright. I love clam chowder-go get in bodega bay best there. on the plus, I loved the causal atmosphere. The place was packed but I was probably the youngest in the restaurant besides my son. It is a senior paradise but no senior discount--must have a bunch of rich seniors in Petaluma because this place is pricey. i can barely afford this in my 50's not sure how these retired people are affording these lunch prices. i would say their lunch is dinner pricing if you get my drift, lol My young son got a steak sandwich and was $30! wow! for lunch,,.. When you stop selling bud light because budweiser sent ONE CAN to a trans woman you lose all my respect. What's funny is all the beers they have on tap support pride and have come out with various pride labels that went into production. Better stop selling Lagunitas too! The can with the trans woman wasn't even sold in stores. Owner must be super sensitive and they obviously discriminate against the lgtbq community. This place is a real dive bar and I love it. Why is it called the aquarium? They have fish tanks behind the bar! Super cool ones? No, but they're there, so yes, it's the Aquarium! Good tap beer selections, late-ish night bar menu including your choice of many delicious fried things! Bartender and local tipsy gents were friendly and funny. They have pool tables and I look forward to going back and playing (while eating delicious fried things, of course). Ventured in alone today at lunch. Definitely old school bar with the" regulars" vibe. Felt a bit uncomfortable but only for a few minutes. This is a "it-is-what-it-is" place, which is my kinda place. I use this definition for a dive bar: when you walk in, and at least 3 people turn around to see who just walked in, you are in a dive bar. So 4 people turned around, so this place passes with flying colors. Now get this, they have really good food, if, and-ONLY-if, you like old school Sonoma County Italian cooking. They have daily specials for lunch, but go on a day when the special is Italian, or could be Italian. The service was wonderful. Particularly wonderful if you understand that the regulars are going to get priority, which is Great! I mean, why be a regular if that doesn't happen. The bill came to less than $50 for a beer, negroni, antipasto; 2 specials which were served with a great classic salad, a very generous serving of two pork chops and tripe, spaghetti with a great meat sauce, and potatoes, plus a corkage fee. The only place you can come close to that value is Willie Bird Turkey in Santa Rosa. The negative? I don't live in Petaluma so I could go every week. read more

Great place to stop for lunch. Entree's cost between $9 and $12 a plate. Includes a side: salad, fries, onion rings or soup. I love the onion rings! They carry a lot of local beers on tap. They have lunch specials each day. Clam chowder every Friday, Thick Pork Chops and Tripe every Thursday. The Aquarium is under new ownership. They just put in all new flatscreen TVs so it's a great spot to watch sports and grab a bite. I'm happy with the upgrades the new owner has done and am looking forward to his future plans. read more

Don't go to this place. OK, so I am 24 now. This was on my 21st birthday. So the horrible, horrible bartender probably doesn't even work there anymore. However, I thought about it recently and it made me mad again so I jumped on good ole' yelp to finally let people know what happened 3 years ago. So - like I said. My 21st birthday. I'm not a 'partier'. I don't drink a lot, and don't go wild. Stopped at this place with a few friends, and their MOMS, and my fiance. I order a drink, and the trashy looking bartender girl asks for my ID. I proudly pull it out. She looks at it, throws it back, and says 'it's fake". I am obviously shocked. I hand it back and explain that it isn't while all my friends and their mother's are trying to explain to her it's my birthday! She then takes my ID and gives it to her friends at a table accross the room, laughing at my ID. I start getting really pissed off. However, I remain calm and hand her my MILITARY ID. See little girl?! It's not fake! She then tells me HER DAD is in the military and my military ID is fake too. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?? She then says 'I'll serve you tonight, but never come back again". I would give this place 3.5 stars in order to be honest but that doesn't seem to be a choice. I have been driving past this place for years but had never been in. I always thought it was just a bar but come to find out they serve food too. Although I have not been present for it, they have live music on a lot of nights. The place has a relaxed atmosphere with a kind of family style/bar feel to it. The servers are very friendly and the food is good solid family style quisine. The salads are very good as is the corned beef. The burger I had was good as a package but there was nothing special about the meat. I like that they have seven burger choices...I don't always feel like the same burger when I go to a place. The fish n chips was a bit too fishy but maybe we went in on an off day. They have nightly specials and my favorite thing is that you can make any meal "family style" for only $3 more, which adds salami, cheese and wine to your meal. Also, they sell a discounted gift certificate on restaurant dot com. It is a great way to try them out at a discount if you otherwise you might not have. Patsy the waitress, (married to the cook from 3 cooks), came up to the bar next to me to pick up drinks from the bartender Steve, Patsy never took my order or acknowledged me.. if you're not WHITE you will not be noticed!! its obvious, people came in after me and there orders were taken.. the biscuits are frozen and they re-heat them in the microwave i noticed this when i was there for 25 mins..Patsy would touch them with her fingers to check if they are warm and this is after she bused tables?! never ever going back even with my WHITE friends..
