Tallow Fries

Just stopped by here for the first time. The inside of the restaurant was pretty relaxing as it was the middle of the day. Service was GREAT, very friendly and helpful bartender. Food was okay but it didn't blow my mind. The brisket nachos were decent. Just wish they had a little more kick. Tallow fries, okay, nothing to write home about. I ordered a beer as well, IPA, which was pretty nice. I'd go back if in the area, but I wouldn't drive out of my way to go here.

Look at the choices!!!! So good & tasty. Oh, I forgot about the sauce and the pickles.

Oops, sorry. Forgot to hit 5 stars. This is a picture of the menu I took yesterday. We ordered 2 items to go. One we had last night. We're about to enjoy the smash burger!

Went here for the first time before catching a movie at the Roxy. The restaurant was big with a nice patio area, that is where we sat. You could tell our server was new but he was nice and you could tell he was trying his best. With that being said, service was slow, and had a couple hiccups with our order but over all had a good experience. I got an expresso martini since it was barely noon and those are the new it drinks. It was delicious! So good, I literally text my expresso martini fan friends. Food wise we just got appetizers. The salmon & lox deviled eggs were amazing had to share those with a few people as well through photos. My husband got fries.. they were not great not the worst but not the best either. I plan to be back. The food was good, drink was great, the workers were nice even if service wasn't 5-stars, it's in a good location by the 3rd St. parking garage. Definitely check them out if you are in the area.

What a lovely experience my family and I had. Came down for Mother's Day and left full and satisfied. There was three of us and we all ordered the two meat combo. Between us we got the half chicken, hot links and ribs. I got the potato salad. My son got the collard greens and my aunt got the mac & cheese. I absolutely love the cornbread and the sweet cream butter they offer with it. Between the ribs and the Cajun chicken, I'm going to highly recommend the ribs . The chicken was flavorful and juicy. I think I'm just not really a big fan of Cajun... I did not like the barbecue sauce, but they also offer hot sauce, which I enjoyed. The potato salad was good with mac & cheese was better than last time I had it, the collard greens or my least favorite side. The ambience inside is giving high class vibes! I mean it is sophisticated definitely a vibe. My aunt and I decided to walk through to check out the place because it's definitely something to see great place for any occasion like a dinner or a birthday or at work meeting or a first date, I absolutely love the inside of this place! You can eat upstairs or downstairs or even outside. I mentioned in my first review how they have a full bar and I love that!! The service was friendly and welcoming. Our food came out swiftly, nice and hot. My family really enjoyed the experience and would love to come back to check out other stuff on the menu and also looking forward to checking them out for happy hour from 3 to 6 PM.... Personally I wish they offered more desserts options, like something take home like a peach cobbler or 7 up cake, bread pudding something! They do offer soft serve and a soft serve cobbler..... I was so full I did not have room to try it. I think the price of the food is reasonable and definitely affordable for a good plate of food. We all have leftovers... I probably could write more, but do yourself a favor and check out downtown barbecue, Hell book a birthday dinner there you won't regret it !!

This was my first time ever at this particular barbecue place and we went for a friend's birthday dinner. There was a table of 10 and our server was incredibly patient with us since four of us showed up a little late! They had a number of different beers on tap as well as bottles and my Hubby couldn't figure out which one he liked, so our server was incredibly sweet and got him a mini 4 sample sips for him to try. He ended up loving my POG cider and got one of those! Hahaha The ambience was really relaxing and nice bar environment. Very clean and organized and they had an upstairs area as well! I would definitely like to go and check out the upstairs or even a night if they have a live music! We will definitely have to go back!

First times, love to eat BBQ.... Got chicken and ribs this time around, had a couple beers, hazy from henhouse and one of the house beers. Came with cornbread and we got fries as a side. The ribs were fall off the bone delicious, the chicken was Cajun flavored, was good, but the ribs were so good, the bbq sauces were also very good. It was very empty on a Tuesday, which was a bummer to see. We would go back, hope they survive.

This bbq gem is located downtown Santa Rosa across from parking garage. We had a late lunch sound 2om. It was $1 as 1st hour free. My mom, her BFF and myself share the large meat platter-ribd, brisket, pulled pork, chicken n 4 sides (corn bread , Cole slaw, greens with ham, ma n cheese ,and finally potato salad ). They offered a seat and then a bit spicy BBQ sauce. I had a bottled root beer, mom had water a Peggy had a specialty beer in a glass . I also got the wedge salad no onions but didn't need it it eat it all. We all got dinner that night from same meal. Still chicken and some meat leftover for toays dinner. It was a little pricey but BBQ always is .. pit smoked for hours. Megan was a great server and got our order perfect!!!

The meat was perfectly prepared, the squash well cooked. Service quick and professional. The plums cocktail not so great. I like the atmosphere of this old ash style.

Two meat combo: brisket and a hot link with potato salad and my Fallanghina wine
Cat C.

The food and ambience are great. It has a high ceiling with great decor. Open and airy. They were playing a lot of classic rock, especially Southern rock and it fit so well. Loved the brisket. She asked if I wanted lean or fatty and I said lean and got it. They have 2 sauces and both are great especially if mixed together. The potato salad is really complex with dill and vegetables in it. Not your basic boring potato salad. I also had a hot link. It was pretty chewy so she brought me another one. That was a bit better but I think they could improve that recipe. It did have great flavor. I had a wine I never heard of: Fallanghina. Very tasty and unique. It could use a wee bit more air conditioning.

Had plenty of staff check in on me and make sure everything was going well. Pastrami taco was really good! Surprised to see it paired with kimchi but a pleasant surprise and gave me a bit of kbbq vibes. I'm Korean so I think the kimchi could have more bite or be more fermented but it's totally fine. Korean chicken thigh taco also super good. I think it'd be better to have this taco and the pastrami one switch their veggies but the usual black eyed pea slaw with the chicken was great too. Spicy crema could be spicier but that's personal preference and still went with the chicken great. I think the pastrami taco came out on top just by a smidge so I even ordered one more before grabbing my bill. This last taco came a little slower than the others but I wasn't in a rush. Definitely recommend asking for more slaw and kimchi to go with your tacos and make them loadeddd! I'll try to be back to try their larger plates!

Despite having…read morethree menus - drinks, dinner, and happy hour - choosing what to order didn't feel overwhelming, and we quickly landed on the anchovy toast, beet salad, shrimp & grits, and mushroom risotto. Our server was incredibly friendly, and the entire room shared the same warm, easygoing vibe. The small, speakeasy themed space was already packed at 5 PM, so reservations seem like a must. Everything we ordered was well-prepared and delicious, but the standout dishes were the beet salad and the shrimp & grits. The beet salad had a perfect mix of textures; chopped pistachios, tender beets, and crunchy radishes over a pillowy ricotta. I finished the salad wishing there was more. The shrimp & grits featured a potlikker sauce that absolutely lived up to the hype; it made the dish. I wish the shrimp & grits were served in a bowl rather than a shallow dish. I found myself chasing the sauce and polenta around the plate, trying not to push it over the edge. That said, if it were in a bowl, I might have just drank the sauce, so perhaps this is the restaurant's way of preserving a bit of dignity for its guests. Next time, I'm hoping to visit when oyster po' boys and fried green tomatoes are on the menu.

The vibe is effortlessly chill, with whimsical decor--think antique lamps, an old record player, and lots of little details that make you want to look around. The whole place felt alive in the best way--buzzing with conversation, laughter, and people clearly having a great time. We didn't have a reservation, but lucked out with seats at the community table. Bonus: the other guests were super welcoming, which just added to the fun, communal feel. We hit happy hour, and wow--it's a good one. Tons of interesting bites and a solid drink lineup. I went with a whiskey sour, my friend had the ginger beer on draft (very refreshing), and we shared the prawns, Brussels sprouts, and creamy mac & cheese. Everything was seriously delicious. Shoutout to our server, Melanie--friendly, attentive, and totally on it, even with the place packed. A couple things to note: it does get loud, so maybe not your spot if you're after a quiet, intimate dinner. Also, the happy hour menu listed Brussels sprouts but didn't mention bacon--I'm vegetarian, so that was a bit of a surprise. (It is noted on the regular dinner menu, which I admittedly didn't check.) All in all, such a fun, lively spot. I'll definitely be back for more bites and cocktails.

There's almost zero damping and no acoustic management whatsoever. It has the appearance of an attractive venue without the functional reality. It was incredibly painful with the voices of all the talking along with the music ringing in our ears. The conversations of people were amplified by the design of the facility to the point where they were competing with the fully amplified '90s band that I heard called joose. In addition, they appear to have no comprehension about how to actually create an appropriate acoustic management system. There are no damping systems, no soft surfaces, it's like they didn't even ask anybody who knows anything about anything about how to do acoustic design. It's entirely appearance based. We will never return here again for anything other than a cocktail or maybe a karaoke event. It was a waste of $20. Per person. We effectively paid $40 for a couple to be acoustically tortured for 2 hours. We kept hoping it would get better but it didn't I thought maybe once more people came in they might help but it didn't help they just got louder. I can't believe that nobody else has complained about this before.

Service was always prompt and welcoming as well. There is a good variety of food with the stars I think being their escargot (the garlic butter being the best). Lots of little touches of snail decor around the restaurant is really cute. I've had their ahi Niçoise salad and it is excellent. The potatoes and ahi were a surprisingly good combo for me. Oysters are a refreshing appetizer but I recommend the frog legs (tastes almost like a very lightly fried thinner chicken wing). I often paired it with a side of mushrooms. My family has gotten a variety of their menu. Onion soup is good and ahi tartare is great to share and munch. Warmed baguette bread and butter are always available. They have such good appetizers I think they even beat out the entrees. But I can say their steak and poulet/chicken frites are not bad too. I'm very glad they can do substitutions for the frites with roasted vegetables and got my poulet with green beans instead which still were a good pairing for the meat. Desserts are great too to share and finish your meal. Creme brûlée is standard in a lot of places and theirs hits the mark but I love Augie's Crepe Suzette more! A tangy orange based crepe topped with vanilla ice cream with bits of crispy orange bits throughout. I hope I come back again to try more dishes. A lovely spot in downtown. Reservations are easily made online too.

Cozy decor and the restaurant is in the middle of all the downtown Santa Rosa action. The bread and butter were so good. And complimentary, which I feel is rare these days. Salade Lyonnaise was surprisingly good for this reluctant veggie eater. The bacon vinaigrette really gave it a meaty flavor. I wanted to try the terrine but the group vetoed me for the pate and I was pleasantly surprised. It came with a little bit of salad, mustard, and pickles, and the whole thing ate really well together. Next came the sweetbreads and I think I was only sad there wasn't more of it. I liked this best of the apps. Got the half dozen raw oysters on half shell. Those were okay, I think I could skip next time. For mains, I got the duck confit. The duck itself was okay. I think I expected it to be more tender; and it was a bit oversalted for my taste. The potatoes and fig jus though... wow I would order this if it was just a side. Also, again, appreciated that there was a salad with this, I thought it was a nice touch that brightened up the dish. I probably wouldn't get this again but there are other mains to try. I tried the dishes ordered by others at our table. I thought the steak was super chewy. Definitely the worst steak I've had from a Stark restaurant. It is the worst steak I've had in recent memory. It also had very little sauce, but maybe I was only looking for the sauce because the steak wasn't any good. I thought the duck sausage dish was a bit salty. The poulet frites was probably objectively the most well-prepared protein out of what we ordered, in terms of seasoning and texture. We were pretty stuffed so we didn't get dessert this time. The service was interesting. Front of house were very welcoming and friendly, what you would likely expect for hospitality. Servers were not very welcoming or friendly, but maybe it's trying for French vibes in that way. (Jk.) It was maybe giving new server. That said, by the end of the meal I couldn't really knock it because the servers were prompt in responding to all our requests. Overall, I think the visit was like 3.5 stars because of the bread and butter, good apps, and prompt service were good, but the mains were all pretty disappointing. I will definitely be back to try more of the apps and maybe a dessert.
