red bee bbq seems to have a lot of regulars, and i can see why. the service is so friendly and fast, and it's a great price for bbq! there's not much seating indoors or outdoors, but it seems like most people take their food to-go. my boyfriend ordered a lunch special, which comes with a meat and two sides, with smoked beef brisket, mac & cheese, and fried rice. i ordered a 2 meats and 2 sides combo, with pork ribs, pulled pork, corn bread, and crazy corn. - smoked beef brisket (2/5): this was a chopped brisket, and most of the pieces were very small and soft. some of the bigger pieces were a little chewy, and the brisket didn't taste fresh. it was more like a pot roast or braised beef than brisket. it was marinated in a sweet bbq sauce, which i would've preferred less sweet, and i thought there was too much of it. it was a good and filling serving though - pulled pork (3.5/5): better than the brisket! but it also didn't taste very fresh. it was juicy and tender and marinated in a more smoky and salty bbq sauce, which i liked better - pork ribs (3.5/5): not fall-off-the-bone like ribs should be but more tender than i expected! the flavor was somewhat in between the pulled pork and beef brisket, with a sweet bbq sauce on top of a peppery and savory rub. i did think it needed more sauce, so i asked for an extra cup of bbq sauce on the side. the ribs were pretty big and meaty! - mac & cheese (2/5): honestly just an okay mac & cheese. it wasn't really that flavorful or cheesy, and it probably could've used a little more salt. the consistency was a little runny - fried rice (2.5/5): like fried rice you would get from panda express. it wasn't bad - just a little flavorless and an option if you wanted to eat your meat over rice. i thought it was nice to mute the strong flavor of the brisket a bit. i did like how moist it was - corn bread (4/5): one of the best items on the plate! i liked the sweetness and flavor from the cornmeal, although it was a little too sweet for my preference. it was also a little dry, like a dense cake. it would've been great warm - crazy corn (4/5): a very classic elote! the amount of mayo and chili on the corn was perfect. my only complaint was that the corn wasn't the freshest, and it didn't come out very hot red bee bbq is definitely not a traditional bbq restaurant - it's an asian-owned fast food bbq joint, and the food reflects that. it doesn't even come close to the best bbq we've ever had, but it's extremely affordable and the portion sizes are great. and besides, the staff is so kind! i generally like beef brisket over any other bbq meat, but i would definitely recommend the pulled pork over brisket here. just don't come with any expectations, and the food will satisfy. read more

I've past this place many times in a little funky strip mall and decided to finally give them a try with a "to go order" of bbq brisket, mac & cheese and coleslaw for just under $19 dollars. There were few choices for sides and most had an up charge which seemed a bit weird. The best part of my experience was the lovely masked and gloved sweet little lady that joyfully packed my order. She suggested the brisket over the pork ribs. Unfortunately, the food was subpar. I guess I was expecting a more Southern style with maybe more traditional entrees like collard greens. I cringed when I saw a small plastic pre-made container with my mac & cheese put into a microwave. The food seemed what you might expect in a school cafeteria, maybe. This is carry out but there is a table outside for max 6 people. It's pretty friendly and open to sharing the table. We've been going here for years and consider this the best BBQ in Santa Rosa. We drove there weekly from Bodega for a couple years for ribs and chicken. Often we ordered half rack to go because a family member wanted this every day. I might add their ribs are amazing. When you order BBQ chicken you can choose light or dark which are equally delicious. They cut the light meat into lovely slices. It's fun to watch how gracefully they accomplish this. The chicken is always moist, never ever dry. A work of art. Their Tri-tip is beyond words it's the best tri-tip around. Brisket also delicious. Their other meats are equally satisfying and always cooked and seasoned to perfection. We feel like friends with the owners after all it's been nearly a ten year relationship. They and all the staff are always helpful, kind and very efficient. I might need to go get us chicken dinner for tonight. lol. The side dishes are the best as well. The potato salad some of if not the best around. The cornbread with honey butter yumm. We are particular about our cole slaw and theirs never disappoints. Salad is always fresh with many items to choose from. My favorite is their Asian salad dressing though all their other options are spot on. Fried rice, also a good option though we usually get steamed rice. But, their baked beans are sweet and tangy and always made fresh as all their menu items. Our family loves this place. I'd call this spot a local hidden gem. You can smell the bbq from outside. From what I can tell, they run a clean show in the kitchen. My in-laws ordered brisket, ribs, cole slaw and mac salad. They said the meat was juicy and moist and the mac salad had the perfect al dente bite. Zesty and flavorful. There was one person working but she was fast, thorough, and accurate. I'm disappointed because we couldn't order anything because they use soy sauce in their meat marinades. My daughter has a soy allergy so there was nothing she could eat. This review is not about food because we never got it, but experience. Friday night at 7:20pm they had one person working. A sign says to order online for faster service. We did that and then waited and waited to get our order. By the time it was our turn to pick up our order the ribs were gone. We were annoyed and hungry. I made the mistake of ordering beef brisket - I should have looked more closely. It was very fatty and swimming in oil basically inedible. So disappointed. The pork loin was in tray closest to register and it looked good - should have ordered that. The sides were fine: coleslaw, baked beans and cornbread. Person at counter was nice too. I'll try again and look more closely next time. I can't imagine anyone wants to eat brisket prepared like this. For now I need to find something else to eat for dinner. read more

TLDR: In this economy they definitely give you your money's worth. Especially as a BBQ hole in the wall. It's hard to put my fork down while I write this review. For 15 dollars you get plenty of food for two sides and two entrees. Both of the boxes I received were dense like a bowling ball. I got their dark meat bbq chicken, tritip, brisket, and pork. I love how all of the meats were juicy and tender. The sauces that went with the meats also weren't too salty, sweet, or tangy. The service I received was very welcoming. They made me feel at home even though they were working so hard. I didn't know what to order at first and was happy that they gave me recommendations, which I don't regret. Red Bee is a small Mom and Pop shop with minimal seating, but it's better than nothing. From my point of view, they keep the place organized and tidy. We ordered via delivery two of the 3 meat dinners which was way more than two people could eat at once. It lasted us through three meals. We got pulled pork, brisket, ribs, chicken and beans, cornbread and potato salad. All arrived nicely packed and hot. I was in the mood for BBQ and found Red Bee with the help of Yelp. The lady who helped me had wonderful customer service and helped share with me what their most popular items are. The number one seller is the Beef Brisket which I just had to try. I love Pork Ribs and had to try them. The brisket was tender and juicy and the ribs were meaty! The sides I picked were the cornbread, fried rice. The cornbread was huge the apple butter that came with on the side had separated so I just used my own butter from home. The fried rice was good but the strange addition was the lima beans that I just picked out of it. The portion was actually enough to share for two or have a few times.
