This was our second time here. The first was about 4 years ago, and they have not changed, thank goodness. We were both celebrating our birthdays one week apart, so they started the meal by giving us a glass of prosecco each, which was a nice touch. The food, once again, was outstanding. My wife had ravioli which she loved. I had one of the best tastes in food, Italian or not, that I have ever had. I had the cacio e pepe. Now, I added chicken but didn't really need it. It was wonderful. The flavor was exquisite. My wife kept digging into mine, which was no problem because there was plenty, I couldn't finish it all. The only issue I had was our server. She was pleasant enough, but she continually flew by our, and everyone else's, table. She didn't stop for a second. It was slightly busy that evening, but not enough to warrant her flying by constantly. Good place for family dinner and birthday parties, intimate and romantic. Even though we came on Wednesday it's busy with bday, food freshly made and hot plate. Grata burrata - 5/5 stars - the honey really enhanced the flavors of the cheese and pesto, the little peppers were not spicy and added a good pop of texture Heirloom tomato and mozzarella salad - 5/5 - absolutely amazing combination, a great contrastbof soft and crunchy textures, the heirloom tomatoes were excellent Ricotta zeppoli - 5/5 - really loved the chocolate sauce with these donut balls, wasn't expecting how soft the centers would be, the outside was nice and crunchy Flourless chocolate cake - 4/5 - the topping of dates really threw off the texture of the cake, otherwise the chocolate cake was delicious and not too rich The inside is very nicely decorated, and sitting outside was nice as the sun was setting, but we did not enjoy the cars being so loud since the outdoor seating is next to the main road. It took a minute upon entering to know if I was going to be acknowledged (quite busy for a Wednesday evening!) but once I was- smoothe sailing! I sat at the bar and Ashley was fantastic! She was very informative and helpful throughout. I'd inquired about a wine she let me try and opted for the cocktail instead. I ordered the Garden Party which is cucumber infused gin with herbs and a chili oil garnish. I ordered 3 chilled oysters as a starter. The cucumber/prosecco mignonette made for the perfect tangy bite, particularly with my cocktail. I had asked her on an entree recommendation (of which her response between 2 dishes would determine how many more questions I had)... Yet she answered all of my additional questions without me ever asking, and without hesitation on her selection- so of course I went with the cacio e pepe with prosciutto, kale and mushrooms! ZERO regrets! Such a flavorful dish! I boxed the remainder of my entree to save room for dessert, of which I chose the pistachio gelato with balsamic reduction and sea salt. I had fond memories of visiting this place a few years ago and couldn't wait to come back - and it definitely did not disappoint! It's a lovely Italian place with an extensive menu - everything looked so delicious it was hard to decide. I wanted something lighter so I had the asparagus salad and the meatballs. The salad was fresh asparagus, arugula, radish on top of Farro with a soft-boiled egg and truffle vinaigrette. Such a flavor bomb! I also had the meatball starter to round out my meal and it was a lot of food. The garlic bread with it was amazing. My husband had the cacio e Pepe and loved the addition of truffle oil and crispy prosciutto on top. Our service was great and there was a wonderful wine list too. Following a delightful Pinot & Pizza tasting at a nearby winery, we found ourselves still craving more, so we decided to revisit Grata Italian Eatery in Windsor for our second outing. Our initial dinner there, shared with dear friends Louise and Jay, had left such a positive impression that a return was inevitable. We timed our arrival perfectly for happy hour and secured two seats at the bar. Recalling the standout Caesar salads from our previous visit - crisp, well-dressed, and a notch above the ordinary - we ordered a pair (mine covered in white anchovies - of course), along with the happy hour oysters, which proved fresh and flavorful. The cocktails, I should note, featured notably generous pours, adding to the relaxed ambiance, good prices too. Seated beside us was a charming couple who struck up an engaging conversation. We couldn't resist raving about our prior meal, highlighting the tender grilled octopus, the aforementioned Caesar, and the rich cheese ravioli enveloped in a truffle cream sauce. As the discussion flowed naturally into shared passions for cuisine and memorable dining spots, we learned their names: Eric and Christina, the proprietors themselves. Eric, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York, brings refined expertise to the kitchen, while Christina, a local with Italian roots (evident in the framed photo of her parents in bar), spotted the potential in this space and seized the chance to create a welcoming addition to Windsor's culinary scene. Our thanks to Eric and Christina for elevating a simple happy hour into something truly special. We'll be back before long. The food here is simply amazing! The spicy clam dish has the perfect level of heat to it and same with the shrimp Diablo dish. I liked the raw oysters better than the grilled (no pic). Service seemed a little slow at first but we were in no hurry so the pace was just fine. Very pleasant staff. Semi elegant atmosphere but also a come as you are vibe in this small town resturaunt. This was our second visit here and we will definitely come again! Don't sleep on this place folks and make reservations if you plan on going as it can get pretty busy. read more

This buzzing Italian restaurant did not disappoint. The reason for a four star is only due to the fact that our table was in a corner away from the the main layout of the place. We got there in time for happy hour and the Aperol Spritz was really good. We shared the heirloom salad which we both thought was pretty tasty, but needed more basil and a lil salt. ( No salt n pepper on the table) The mains were absolutely fabulous. I have to say, maybe the best Cicio e Pepe I've ever had. The shrimp was well marinated and cooked to perfection. The lasagna was out of this solar system. The vodka sauce was a nice change rather than marinara. I was on a girls trip and we came here for dinner and ordered the Bruschetta as an appetizer. It came out and did not look like it normally would, but the waitress reassured us it was correct and they do it a little differently there. It was so delicious and once the main course came we were ready for even more good food. I had the short rib lasagna and it was the best lasagna I've ever had, and I've had ALOT over the years. They have delicious pretty cocktails and all the servers were very friendly. The ambiance was classy, but also chill, perfect for a date night or a family. We shared the meatballs to start. They were so saucy and cheesy, and the garlic bread on the side was a great addition, it didn't overpower the sauce flavors. I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka. It was good, but it had an interesting herb/oil in it that i didn't love, like extra thyme or rosemary that didn't go with the rest of the dish. But I still enjoyed it and ate it anyway. First time here, and everything was amazing! We ordered several appetizers to share, including the fritto misto, grilled octopus, housemade focaccia, grata burrata, fries, and Brussels sprouts. My favorite was the Brussels sprouts--they were topped with cheese and absolutely delicious! I also really loved the grata burrata; the green sauce on top of the cheese was incredible. The octopus was a bit too chewy for me, but my family enjoyed it. The fritto misto was good, though I've had better elsewhere. For our entrées, my husband and I shared the chicken Parmesan and shrimp Diavolo. The shrimp Diavolo had a nice kick to it, which I didn't mind since I love spicy food, but it was a bit too oily for my taste. I preferred the chicken Parmesan--the sauce on the noodles was perfect and packed with flavor. We also had cocktails, a Lemon Drop and a Cadillac Margarita, and both were very tasty and pretty strong! For dessert, we shared chocolate cake, donuts in chocolate sauce, and tiramisu. While they were all good, the tiramisu was my favorite. The food came out very quickly, and our server was incredibly friendly, checking on us often. Prosciutto burrata was pretty good. New garlic bread wasn't my favorite... I tried something way out of my comfort zone, Lemon Gnocchi with seafood and it was good but not my favorite as I'm not really a pesto guy. This was my second visit to Grata. I was excited to return. Making a reservation on OpenTable was easy. Arriving on time and greeted with a welcoming smile, hostess Leslie took us to the patio as I had requested. It was a nice evening, and diners were already celebrating happy hump day or perhaps happy hour!:) We came at the tail end of HH, so why not embibe. Three HH appetizers, please. Arancini, pear and endive brushetta, and chilled oysters with a prosecco cucumber mignonette. After a tiny taste of two whites (thank you, Maddy), I chose the crisp Chardonnay, which was not on the HH list. All three appetizers were fabulous! And at $6 each, an unbelievable bargin. Wow! (Photos included) We were off to a sumptuous start. After apps, we decided to share the Chicken Parmasan. What a great selection. Fried Mary's organic chicken breast cutlet with melted provolone and parmesan, spaghetti, and marinara basil. OMG! Every part of this dish came together with such outstanding flavors. The chicken was lightly breaded, moist, and had the perfect crunch factor. The sauce was amazing, and noodles were cooked to "al dente" perfection. I am still thinking about that entrèe. And if it could not possibly get any better...it did! Let's talk dessert:) Ricotta Zeppoli. It does not get more Italian than that. Right! Warm cinnamon donut holes with nutella chocolate sauce. We were over-the-top splurging. Why not kick it up a notch and order a scoop of the pistachio gelato (lol). Eaten together...best dessert EVER. Dense, soft, moist donut holes, chocolate sauce, rich, thick, creamy gelato...decadent! Almost in food coma nirvana, we both agreed it was one of our top dining experiences in a very long time. Fantastic food, classy and upscale ambiance, and delightful wait person equals a wonderful and fun evening out in the charming town of Windsor (Sonoma wine country)! We came here to celebrate our anniversary, and even though it was a late dinner, the service was incredible. Lisa, our server, was very attentive and gave us great recommendations--especially the sea bass and the carpaccio, which were the specials of the night. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious. The sea bass was packed with flavor and perfectly cooked--not dry at all. The creamy polenta and perfectly cooked vegetables complemented it beautifully. Grata is my new go-to spot in Sonoma! My boyfriend and I were headed out for a day of wine tasting and decided to stop by for brunch right as they opened. They had a large, bright patio outside and we decided to sit facing the street. Our waiter was friendly and the service was quick, which was to be expected as we were the only ones there for a while. I got the grilled cheese and mortadella with fries and my boyfriend got the spicy fried chicken sandwich. Both were delish, and the fries were exactly the kind I like - on the thinner side, not too crispy, salty, and fresh out of the oven. The best part? The mimosas were only $5!!! Every time we eat here we're so happy! Always greeted at the door so nicely from Christina. ALL of the service people are so welcoming and knowledgeable about drinks and the menu. We love looking at the way they decorated the restaurant too you feel like you're in their home with all the framed pictures. The food it consistently delicious. I always have a hard time deciding on what to eat! Today I was craving their Caesar salad with the grilled shrimp on it. My husband had the Shawnee's pasta diavolo. Which he seems to have often. My husband made a reservation here for my birthday yesterday and it was a great experience! Everything we ordered satisfied us! We started off with the Parmesan Arancini! The crunchy outside and soft and pillowy rice inside together with the marinara sauce was a perfect combination! Then we shared 2 big Entrees: the Rigatoni Ala Vodka with Meatballs and the special of the night which was a tender beef, stuffed with something delicious (forgot the name on the menu) over a creamy polenta and roasted green beans! The beef melts in your mouth and the polenta is so creamy and rich! My daughter had fries, and their fries also did not disappoint! We also ordered a side of herbed Focacia bread. For drinks I had the "Main Squeeze" very refreshing and you can taste the grapefruit and my husband had the Cardinal Rules. We had the Dad's chocolate cake for my birthday dessert and my daughter requested for a candle and the hostess gladly made it happen! Although the food was great!
