I've been here several rimes before and have to say I was a bit disappointed this last time. The server we had made us feel rushed and was not friendly at all. My husband ordered a burger cooked medium but it was extremely rare. He didn't send it back because it was somewhat busy and they had already forgot to bring something that was requested twice. I want my money back. Months has been hit or miss for a while. Had a few good meals after the remodel, then tonight... I will say now - that service was good and the staff were friendly, or this would be one star. Would have given them another star for service if they had noticed that we'd didn't eat our dinner... We have come here pretty regularly over the last two decades. At times it has been a local favorite. After tonight, I want to swear them off forever. We started with oysters, which were fair enough. Well shucked. Mignionette and cocktail sauce were passable. We followed that with the Dips and Bread. This was the first warning. Bread was nice and served hot but ridiculous shoot of zaatar. Dupe were so salty they burned. All died in grassy olive oil. Each hard to eat for different reasons. Hummus just tasted like grassy olive oil. Beets tasted like sour oil and tangy cheese. Eggplant was also terribly salty and sour. Added pain for sneaking pine nuts into the eggplant without calling them out on the menu. We left most of that on the plate and write it off as "not to our taste". Next up were wanted to try the lemon pasta with crab, and the seared ahi. Bad to worse... the ahi was served more like blanched, and SOAKED in grassy olive oil and a green olive tapenade that made the oil poached fish untasteable. Worthless. Ruined. On to the Lemon crab pasta. Also horrid. First thing was overwhelming dill - which wasn't even listed as an ingredient. Then overwhelming butter, and virtually zero crab - there was a pinch on the top of the plate and that was about it. Also, zero trace of lemon in the plate aside from a seed. To be fair they should call this dish butter dill pasta. Pasta was cooked well - that's all I can say about it. Frustrating as hell to spend $200 on inedible food. We left all but a couple bites of it on the plates. Fire the chef. This food is not acceptable. I'll check back in a few years but Monti's is in the penalty box. To add insult to injury the food made me sick. Fool me twice, shame on me. read more

My friend and I had the Ahi Tuna Salad and Beets Salad, and both were outstanding and so fresh! My friend said the Ahi Tuna was cooked to perfection, even compared with the fresh Ahi Tuna while living in Hawaii. Monti's and Montgomery Village both had a refresh. The restaurant has a cute dedicated outdoor space with heat lamps over or by each table. The Christmas tree in the outdoor space gets you in the cozy holiday mood. Standouts from the last two times I came here: little neck clams and lemon tagliatelle with Dungeness crab. Only complaint was the tagliatelle had three clumps where the pasta was stuck together. That was annoying but I liked the flavor enough to keep going without raising an issue. The acid in the lemon and the small kick in the chili made me go back for more bites even after I was full. Mussels, salads, salmon, steak, raw oysters, and date cake (sticky toffee pudding) were all right. Steak was a little sinewy but cooked to the right requested temp of medium rare. The date cake... I think Goose & Fern has a much better one, but that's a pub and a totally different vibe. Service is a little uneven. It was great one time and then this most recently time, we were served by 4 different people, each with different temperaments. I do think the hostess(es? maybe one was a manager?) could be kinder about acknowledging customers that come in (it was just our party and one other party standing there). Other random observations - you get free bread and butter. It's not a given these days so that was nice. On the other hand, there is a 2% back of house charge. Overall, I would keep coming back. I think there are small improvements that would make it great. That said, it's a cute dining and shopping area with comfortable seating and the right vibe for either date night or a get together. We've been coming to Monti's for more than a decade. I've never had such a terrible experience and treatment by staff. We had reservations for two and were 30 min early. They insisted that we wait even though there were empty tables. They then proceeded to seat a walk in couple. I asked if we could be seated and was met by both the hostess and manager with brusqueness. The service was also sorely lacking. We were not greeted and had to ask for dirty dishes to be removed. We've been working our way through the Stark restaurants and finally got to Monti's for an early Saturday dinner. Restaurant is tucked in an unassuming strip mall, but has a nice outdoor section and good lighting and comfy seats. Drinks were delicious, I had the chai spiced resting bourbon face. Standouts for the table were the Humboldt cheese à la plancha, the amazing black cod and the homey butter beans. We split a bourbon sauced date cake which was so fluffy and moist. Service was fast and attentive, and they also let us talk forever after our meal and we didn't feel rushed. The only thing we didn't love was the eggplant pizza, the eggplant being a little undercooked, but the rest of the meal was just delicious. read more

We paired our drinks with a shared Monte Cristo because... why not? First off, my cocktail was one of the better ones I've had in a long time. The balance of watermelon and chilies was artful. Delicious and hit the spot! We shared a Monte Cristo and each bite was perfect. I appreciated the house made bread and butter pickle and pepper. Like the cocktail, the balance of sweet and savory seemed very well done. This place was cute! My Mom and I came here for lunch yesterday and we got the calamari which was delicious. Then we got the hibis-kiss drinks which were super yummy and light. It was a very cold evening the day before Thanksgiving. We sat outside, but with the heater lamp and a wrap I felt comfortable. It was a busy night, however, the customer service was very good. There were five in our group and everybody really enjoyed their meals. I had the black cod, which was excellent. The flavors were right on point and the dish was beautifully plated. Was recommended Monti's when I was in the area for work. Had to make a reservation ahead of time just in case they got too busy, and I'm glad I did because there was a line waiting out the door by noon on a Monday. They have a lot of solid options on their menu, but I ended up ordering the roasted salmon that came with a small cous cous and arugula salad and a light, whipped, creamy sauce to pair with it. The salmon was so juicy and flavorful, easily falling apart with minimal chewing. I do think the portion was pretty small considering the price point ($32) and I was still a bit hungry after finishing the entree. They did serve warm bread and butter which was a nice touch. Service was attentive and friendly and the ambiance of the entire restaurant was very nice, clean, and open. It also sounds like they had a recent renovation, making it a beautiful space to dine and hang out with friends and family. Our first time back to Montis after they renovated and we loved what they did with the place. They have a few u shaped booths, a high top communal table and 4 tops along with outside seating. Food and drinks were good! Got their clam pizza, side of mushrooms, Lemon Tagliatelle, roasted cauliflower, mushroom pizza, salmon, piccata black cod, and steak. I like the mushroom pizza over the clam. The sides of mushroom and cauliflower is a must! Only hiccup was when we changed tables I guess we got a new server but I'm not sure that was communicated between the servers. Luckily the manager noticed that we were sitting for a while without our orders taken and she took care of it and checked on us frequently throughout the meal. Overall meal was nice. Went to Monti's Saturday afternoon with a group of ladies after an event we attended in Santa Rosa. Had never even heard of Monti's before since don't go to Santa Rosa that often. If tou havent been there before, they are located in the Montgomery Village Shopping Center.Monti's would make the trip worth it just to beable to try some more of their wonderful food. We started off sharing some fried calamari and their burrito cheese plate. I'm not a gigantic calamari fan BUT they say theirs is flash fried so maybe that's the difference but it was good - crisp but not too crispy and definitely not chewy and comes with lemon aioli and crispy lemons- I have to admit the crispy lemons were my favorite part of the dish. The burrito cheese came with some green olive tapenaude that was really good too. I think that we all tried different things ranging from monte cristo sandwiches, salads, pastas, pizza and the roasted salmon. Everyone was raving about their food. I tried the Monti's Cristo which has their own spin - sweet onion jam. It was really good. Our server had also suggested their skinny French fries so I had to order those and shared with my end of the table. They were covered with rosemary and blue cheese. Ginormous servings I really want to go back soon - I have already got my order ready for next time from sampling off others . I consistently have a great experience when I dine at Monti's- today was no exception. Both the host person and our server were friendly & efficient. I love the new look of the restaurant. If it wasn't so windy today we would have dined on their lovely patio. My friend and I shared the pear pizza- delicious with a nice thin crust. The recently reopened Monti's is a great place for Mediterranean cuisine! The menu has a good selection of dishes featuring fresh and seasonal ingredients. My friend and I ordered: - Deviled eggs which were topped with fresh dungeness crab - Lemon tagliatelle with dungeness crab was well balanced with chilies, garlic, parsley, and a lemon zest - Picatta of local black cod, which was nice and tender and flaky, and topped with lemon butter, capers, and fresh dill I enjoyed all of these menu items and would order all of them again in a future visit! I also tried the Pomegranate fizz cocktail. It was a little too alcohol heavy for me even with adding some extra soda water to it too. I think I'll stick with wine during my next visit. Overall, service was really good. Our waitress and the staff were constantly checking in and refilling water throughout. The ambiance is very modern and open, and they did a great job with the remodel. I enjoy how you can see in the kitchen now and how the restaurant is laid out. We showed up and were seated right away, since we didn't have a reservation we sat at the bar. (Right by the kitchen and the coffee station) The place is beautiful and it was pretty busy. We were still greeted promptly and they took our order for our drinks. Soon after our food followed and it was delicious. My only complaint is that I felt that our waitress really never checked on us. I heard her send over bread and butter to her other tables but never really asked us so I had to ask her. I feel like maybe we were overlooked because we didn't look "rich" or maybe not dressed super nice. This was my first time at montis. Upon arrival we were greeted by the host and were immediately sat. The restaurant itself is really nice, it has a modern vibe and is noticeably clean. The bar is exceptional and seems to have a good selection. Our server got us started with drinks and we quickly placed our order. To my surprise the food came out quickly. I went with the escarole and radicchio salad, I chose to sub the blue cheese for feta cheese and it was perfect! Well balanced and fresh. The calamari was also fresh, I enjoyed the fried lemon slices that came along with it. My boyfriend got the pizza, to our surprise they did not have pepperoni but it was definitely not missed. The pizza was delicious and had a nice crisp to it. The staff constantly checked on us and we did not have to ask for refills. The host was super accommodating (didn't catch her name) and when the party she was helping was taking too long to gather their party, she reminded us that she did not forget about us. Also when we were seated, she asked us if anyone had offered us bread and she went ahead and grabbed some for us. I felt like she went above and beyond other hosts and displayed great service. The restaurant itself was modern like the rest of Montgomery Village. It was cozy and I really appreciated the music was background music and I didn't have to yell to talk with my company. Food was overall good and fresh. This is my order shared with me and one other person: Flash Fried Calamari - great serving size and I felt like it was a lot for two people Tuscan Kale & Quinoa Chop Salad GF - also, great serving size and it could be an entree for one person. The kale was not tough to eat and there was a good portion of the fixings. The dressing could have had a little bit more flavorful but overall it was a good salad. I've been back to Monti's twice now since it's reopening and have been disappointed both times. The menu isn't nearly as creative as it used to be and both times the service was lacking - waiting too long to place the drink order, then another 15 minutes for drinks to arrive, then another 20+ minutes for food. The ahi crudo was utterly tasteless and sloppy in presentation; the single cracker served with it was enough for maybe half the portion served. I've been coming to Monti's even before their recent renovation and was dying to finally return. Recently went with my family and then another time with my boyfriend. Upon first glance coming back, my eyes were pleasantly stunned by the new decor and the new lighting that transforms the space that used to be dull and dark into something bright, airy, and reminiscent of an East Coast coastal restaurant. Not only did their interior change but they also removed and added items to their menu. I will have to say that the only problem I had with the menu was that they took off the old truffle oil mushroom pizza they used to have that was one of our favorite orders. The new menu, however, didn't leave us hungry as we still found old favorites as well as new items that piqued our curiosity. So far for appetizers, we've all tried the Roasted Beet Salad, Calamari, Charred Octopus, and the Dungeness crab Deviled eggs. Out of all of the options we have ordered, my absolute favorite was the octopus- it was perfectly done and had an incredible seasoning to it that makes my mouth water if I think too long about it. For entrees, we really enjoyed the Short Rib pasta and the pork belly. The short rib pasta honestly blows the pork belly out of the water due to the sauce of the pork being a bit too vinegary and acidic but both are still incredible choices to go for. As for desserts, we've tried the Flourless Chocolate Torte and the Warm Bourbon Cake and both were not necessarily appreciated by our party but they both looked incredible. If you have never tried this place or if you have been and haven't returned yet, I suggest you make reservations as soon as you can because the food tastes much better than it used to and the menu feels better than what it and it's sister restaurants used to fall on with the same seemingly uninspired items. read more

Went to the new Monti's yesterday. Interior is much nicer in person than in photos; relaxed atmosphere, light and bright with a nice view into the kitchen. Outdoor seating is ample but not closed off enough as before which, frankly, was better. Improved menu with greater creativity, very clean restrooms. Good service though value wise you can spend as much as any other Stark's restaurant though you don't have to. "Appetizers" are very large so easily could be entrees as they are enough for four people as appetizers. Lamb ribs were excellent but too much fat not rendered enough. Calamari were crisp and fried in very clean oil but despite that had a more fishy flavor than one would expect. Spreads and Breads are great though bread and whipped butter is complimentary which is nice as that is usually not the case anymore. All the entrees were large portions and all were excellent. Flat Iron steak, Buckwheat pasta dish, Black Cod and the Lemon Tagliatelle dish. read more

Haven't visited Montis in what seems like forever! My partner and I just happened to be in the area and wanted a quick little snack. We pulled up on a Sunday afternoon. There was plenty of parking even for a weekend. We were unsure of how busy it would be being a Sunday, lucky for us when we arrived they had lots of seating even with no reservation. We were seated inside, which I haven't seen since they remodeled everything! It was very clean and bright, love the new style. Looking at the menu they have quite a bit of vegetarian options for myself. We started off with the burrata and some fries to share. I ordered the hibiscus lemonade and my partner got an aperol spritz. Fries were great, loved the blue cheese crumbles, burrata was also delicious. For our individual course I ordered the kale salad with egg and bacon on the side and my partner got a burger. My salad was huge, loved the dressing. My partner wasn't the biggest fan of his burger, was over cooked. Overall, we had a decent experience. Food was good for the most part, ambiance was pleasant, service was a tad slow, but that's alright. I'll probably come back to visit again soon to try more off the menu! read more

The atmosphere is undeniably appealing, warm lighting, thoughtful décor, a sense of style that tempts one to return. Yet there is a faint air of pretension, which, coming from Los Angeles where I have seen countless impeccable restaurants rise and fall, strikes me as wholly unimpressive when paired with merely adequate food. The staff carry a subtle sense of doing you a favor by being there, which is a marked contrast to the more inviting approach of other Stark's locations. A particular inconvenience: we were offered bar seating right next to the bustling waitstaff station, a TV blaring overhead, and all the clatter of order entry. I politely declined, noting it was too overstimulating, and the response suggested we should simply be grateful. The food was acceptable, the cocktails excellent, and it is the drinks and ambiance that keep the experience from being disappointing. Overall, three and a half stars. I will return and even modestly recommend, but the other Stark's locations remain the more consistently satisfying option. read more
