My nephew and I were in the neighborhood today and craving some pizza. Gio's is a small, pizza joint in a plaza filled with local businesses in the Bennett Valley area of Santa Rosa. They have a fun selection of pizza toppings and other foods. The guys working there were friendly and helpful in making choices. We sat inside at one of the booths and enjoyed watching football in their TV. My only complaint was that it was kind of cold since they kept the front door open and it was a foggy day. We started with some wings with their mango habanero sauce. The wings were good and I really liked the sauce. I wish they could have been a little crispier, but they did the job. We had a split pizza. We did the Stormy, which was a BBQ chicken pizza. The other half was their Mac and cheese pizza. The BBQ chicken was really good. Sadly, the Mac and cheese was just not that flavorful. I probably would try something else next time. Gio's feels like a decent neighborhood pizza joint. If I lived in the area I would probably order from them pretty often, especially that BBQ chicken pizza! read more

Pizza dough was so undercooked it was still mushy and raw under the cheese, but what really earns the one star review is the restaurant deciding to help themselves to a $10 tip even though I tipped the driver cash in person!! This is my go to place when I want a big slice of pizza and the appetite to consume it all. The cheesy garlic is the like cherry on top of a sundae. The slice is so heavy to reach my mouth I sometimes ask if they can cut it in half. I can't eat it all in one session so I usually end up taking the rest home. Ever since I posted about Gio's a few months ago, my husband and I have use them as our favorite pizzeria. We don't eat pizza very often actually but at least six times over the last I don't know it's eight months. Especially when we have friends that we're getting together so we can get a set of pizzas or calzone. I was shocked today when we ordered calzones on a rainy night that when we got home, the items were awful. Both of our calzones were burned on the edges like no one bothered to take it out of the oven. My veggie lovers calzone had four bites of chicken that I had paid to add and very little filling at all. It was like pizza crust that have been smashed together with a little bit of cheese. My husband's uncle Joey, or whatever had almost nothing in the middle. It makes me sad to write this and also sad to say we probably will not be returning. read more

We saw the reviews on Yelp and decided this was going to be the best pizza choice in Santa Rosa. The menu has some wonderful specialty pizzas and the flavor combinations sounded amazing. We opted for a 1/2 Gios Garlic Supreme and 1/2 Polli's Perfect both were wonderful and we really liked the crust. My favorite was the Gios Garlic because the white sauce was amazing! The toppings are plentiful and fresh too! So many things to try on this menu if we lived in the area this would be our pizza place. They even bring real plates and silverware if you're eating in and they boxed up our left overs too! The owner was the one who served us and took our order and was attentive and refilled our waters too. If you're in the area and looking for pizza or pasta this should be your go to place. We don't exactly live in the direct vicinity of this place, it seems like a neighborhood pizza joint, but we were happy we found it! The place had great service and was very neighborly and intimate. You walk by the giant mixer when you go to the back to use the bathroom so you know they make the dough fresh there. They were also accommodating with us wanting to do a 50/50 pizza and what we wanted on each side. It was delicious and we ate the entire thing. When I have a craving for pizza, I always think of Gio's. My family used to often get take-out here during the pandemic and it was always served piping hot, you could hardly touch the bottom of the pizza boxes! And then on your drive home, your entire car is filled with the incredible aromas of your pizzas. Our daughter picked up a couple of our favorites on this Sunday evening: Pesto Augustus (pesto sauce, chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes) and Classic Combo (pepperoni, sausage, olives, peppers, mushrooms). They are freshly made by the sweet people who work here. The staff are always smiling and welcoming when you stop in to pick up your order. It is a bit of a drive for us to get to Gio's and I believe we must pass at least five other pizza places to get here, but we are never disappointed. My fiance and I have been eating here ever since we have gotten together so for about 6 years and I have never had such a bad experience until yesterday. We ordered delivery from them and our order was sent to the wrong house. Never got a single phone call or text message saying it was dropped off. Had to get a phone call from the people that got the pizza. I walked all the way over there to grab it and gave Gio's a phone call. Whoever took the phone call had the worst customer service and wasn't helpful. They kept turning it on me like it was my fault my pizza was delivered to the wrong apartment complex. Kept saying they have screenshots of calling me and texting while I have literally nothing on my side so clearly it didn't go through on my side. I kept explaining that to them and they kept arguing with me. My pizza was cold, my drinks were warm and my cheesecake was melted. I spent $80 on food to have this kind of experience and for them to say oh next time we can give you 50% off. The food was delivered to the wrong place and I had to walk over there to grab it instead of them saying oh I'm sorry that's totally on us let's fix that for you. We were driving back from Redwood National Forest to Bay area and wanted to stop by at a good Pizza place for dinner. There are lots eateries around and by the time we reached it was close to dusk and it seemed like a perfect evening. Plenty of parking. Plenty of seating outside and inside the restaurant. The waiters are super friendly and warm and helpful. They seemed to be loving what they are doing. I ordered the large pizza and cheesy garlic breads. Ordered half and half on the pizza, with one half being Margarita and the other half with chicken. The pizza came out in about 15 minutes which was not too bad. The large pizza was really huge (18 inches), looked yummy. Now coming to the taste and quality, well let me say I have had much better ones. The crust was thick to begin with, may be a thinner crust would have made it more flavorful when we are eating it. We originally thought that the half that is supposed to have the chicken, didnt have the chicken. When we checked with the waiters they checked and said that it doesnt look like chicken is added and he gave chunks of chicken on the side. But then when we started eating it, we realized it did have chicken cooked and pretty much submerged in cheese. We felt sorry and apologized to them. But all along, they were very kind and cool. The cheesy garlic bread was pretty good, I wish they serve it with marinara sauce, but they did give it to us when we requested for it. Overall, for the price, I would expect the quality & taste of the pizza to be even better, I was contemplating between 3 and 4 stars for the very same reason. First time visit and it was awesome. You can sit in or out. It is not a very large establishment inside but they try to keep it classy with cloth tablecloths. The service is great and the food is fabulous. We started with a Caesar salad that was decent, but the pizza was 5 stars. We ordered the large classic combo that was delivered steamy hot. And a feel badly to say I didn't like it as the staff was working hard, half a dozen employees in a small kitchen keeping the ovens going in a small restaurant in this era, props! But I'm an honest reviewer and I have to say we felt the crust was mediocre and the pizza just lacked flavor, we ordered the Meatball and chain with red sauce, the pizza itself huge, but the flavor did not warrant the $35 price. And in all honesty I've had better pizza from Whole Foods down the street. I understand perhaps this is not their best pizza on the menu and they are filling a niche in this bedroom neighborhood of Santa Rosa. Stopped into Gio's because of the great reviews and we were not disappointed. Gio's is a small diner with about 4-5 tables. I wouldn't recommend large groups, but we were able to fit our party of 6. Quick and friendly service. For the food we got: Spinach Salad - solid - exactly what I expected based on the description - spinach, tomatoes, bacon bits, Parmesan, balsamic vinaigrette Jalapeño Poppers - these were a bit disappointing because they were baked, not fried. Not much color to them and the crust was very bland. Pizzas - we really liked the pizzas here and they are humongous. We got an 18" DaBig Uncle Joey (for the meat lovers) and an 18" Gio's Delight (if you're an omnivore). Both were a delicious thin crust with generous and high quality ingredients. We were a bit split on favorites, but I liked the Uncle Joey better. When we ordered, they asked if we wanted half/half, so that is definitely an option if you want variety. I think their 18" pizza and a side would feed 2-4 adults depending on their appetite. All in all, I definitely recommend Gio's! read more

Ordered a pizza for delivery and was told 45 min. An hour and 5 min later I called and was told it should be delivered very soon. Called again 20 min later and said the driver is close. An hour and a half after being told 45 min is pathetic. When the pizza was here it was like warm at best and the crust was moist. Now we had to microwave and we all know what happens to the crust. Called back and asked for a credit and was told the manager/owner would call me to discuss the next day. Never heard from him!! Pretty good for delivery. Food came as you'd expect for pizza, just takes a little while. We had gotten a heavenly prosciutto sub, a big tone pizza, and a fantasy cheesecake. The heavenly prosciutto was like a blt with better meat. I kinda wish there was a way to customize the veggies in it since it is really just lettuce. The big tone was good but the pesto sauce not so pronounced. I'd want that to be stronger but I love pesto really with anything. The cheesecake was clean and what you'd expect. I think we were sold on the chocolate more though to be honest haha. One of the few places with vegan options in Santa Rosa- especially pizza spots. We ate inside and it was mellow and small but did the trick! The salad was not bad! Liked the toppings, not so much the lettuce. The balsamic dressing was just okay. The waitress brought out a pizza with regular cheese & I said there's no way this is vegan.. there were too many cheese pulls for that to be the vegan cheese. She insisted it was the vegan cheese, and A couple minutes later she said oh wait sorry... the vegan cheese "didn't show up on the receipt" aka she didn't ring it in correctly... I'm glad I didn't eat any because not only does regular cheese gross me out it upsets my stomach badly. It might be good for the workers to know the visual differences between the two if they're going to be serving them. Great pizza and if you hunt their menu you can find a wonderful coupon for a one item large! Everything they make is tasty but we mostly get the New York style thing crust pizza, usually with half tiny cup pepperoni because that's what I like, and cheese for the other half cuz my wife and son don't like things on their pizza. When we moved over here to Bennett valley when my kid was in kindergarten, we knew we had to find some decent pizza. After trying a few places around here, and we really do enjoy mombos, we lucked into finding Gios! They used to send out coupons and that's what had us going there pretty consistently along with a great pizza, but the new owners have moved things online and created an app for ordering, it's worked well the last few times. They don't have a huge menu but they do sell more than pizzas, so I would suggest you venture out and try a few things, see what you like. The best value pizza I've found is still at Domino's, with a coupon, one pizza is less than 10 bucks usually, but it just can't compare to the high quality of a Gio's pizza, which is the pizza we have when we splurge. read more

Its location and its decent prices keep me coming back. I can't stop getting weekday special in particular.
