Update 1/16: I took away two stars after my recent experience. The most critical point I need to make in this review is I saw a waiter grab food off of a costumers plate before serving it to a table and eat it (It was just fries but still)! I also witness wait staff use their bare hands to move food around touching folks take out food. Went here with my S.O. The place a was pretty full, however the waiter we met when walking in encouraged us to sit where ever we liked. Unfortunately there were three tables in the front 1/2 that were still cluttered so we had to sit in the hallway towards the bathrooms. I was a little disappointed because I noticed three waitstaff were hanging around talking rather than cleaning up the tables so we could sit in a more desirable location. We ordered the fire house burger and guac-a-doodle-doo burger they were good for the price point but not as good as Grubs burgers. In hindsight I am glad we sat in the back as I would have never known the unprofessional behavior that occurs back there. Original review: Wonderful bar/ restaurant to study at. The service was amazing, probably the best I've had in Bryan since moving here. The guacamole burger is fantastic! The alcoholic milkshake did not have enough ice cream in my opinion. Been here many times, but last night was so good I decided to log it. Ranch Hand and License to Krill tacos and yuppie fries hit the spot. Others got sweet potato fries and migas tacos and the fried yucca and liked them. In the past I've enjoyed the Yard Bird and regular burgers. Their standard specialty cocktails are meh, tbh. We came into town for a Track Meet at A&M and while waiting for the kids to run we Yelped the Proudest Monkey. We couldn't have found a better place! ALL of the food was beyond phenomenal! Everyone one at our table (5) raved about the food. And we ALL had happy plates. The food was great and there is a wide variety of menu options to choose from. Staff were friendly, but the mirrored walls were a little disorienting when looking for seating. We were in town celebrating my daughter's Sr. Ring and had high hopes after reading reviews that the burgers were on par with Koppe Bridge. Let's start with the cocktails. The Mexican Martini, Dill Pickle and reg martini all came out in plastic, not cold, and 1/2-full. I inderstand the times were in, but if I'm paying for 1/2 the handle of Tito's in one drink, dazzle me. I rarely send thing back, but I could't pay $10+ for what came to the table. My wife's Mexican Maritin, pictured, was the same way but she fought through it. My daughter is 22 so, alcohol. I asked my son if his burger was as good as KB, he looked at me, snickered, and said it isn't even close. We were the first table of the day at 11:15 and the waitress did her best, but it Proudest Monkey was a let down, this time anyway. They will probably not get another opportunity as there are so many spots in B/CS to dine. Oh well, YELP is usually right on target, but not on this one. read more

We were pretty disappointed with the food here. You had to order at the bar (no waiters at the tables) and the menu was small. The family had burgers, which were just okay. I had a Turkey burger that was kind of wet and not very good. Nobody ate the fries because they were so salty they were inedible. We ordered the Twinkie deserts, which were good and the guys at the bar were knowledgeable about food allergies. They were nice but not enough to eat there again. read more

A real hole in the wall!! I've been to downtown Bryan multiple times and usually go to the same restaurants. My friend and I came here pretty late, around 10:15pm, and it was still open and decided to try it. We had heard of it before (it's got a standout name) but never even tried it. I wasn't super hungry and only got sweet potato fries with the pepper/sugar seasoning, and oh my god they were so good. The dipping sauce was also amazing. I'm pretty picky when it comes to sauce (I don't like a lot of cult favorites including Chick-fil-a sauce and Layne's sauce) but this one was so tasty! Definitely recommend these fries. My friend got a regular burger and commented on how simply delicious it was. I will definitely be back here to maybe watch a game or something in the future to sample the menu more. This place is small. But they have some of the best burgers and fries I've ever had. My friend recommended this to me so I went with my family for dinner. It wasn't too packed but the restaurant didn't have much seating for a large group. Everyone ordered a different dish and each dish was amazing. A small but fun ambiance locates in downtown Bryan. We don't drink and just came for the food but the drink menu is varied and they have some signature drinks that locals have told us are good. A nice hangout casual eating ambiance with a few tables and seats at the bars My wife order two tacos (Pulled Hammy and Pablo Pescado) and I ordered the License to Krill taco and the El Jefe burger My burger was outstanding! Bold flavors and juicy. The burger isn't that big but with the taco my meal was the perfect size. I'd come back for this burger alone. The taco and my wife's tacos were a little on the bland side. The menu descriptions sounded good but the overall presentations just didn't translate. I had a bite of each and based on what I ate I'll stick to the burgers every time. This place is alright! I had the el jefe burger and substituted guacamole instead of the cabbage and it came out good! The fire fries in my opinion were alright, however I did not realize that they would be drenched in buffalo sauce and came with uncooked jalapeños on top. The jalapeño bacon ranch is absolutely delicious and was the star of the show. As for the drinks, the salted caramel ice cream martini was good but wasn't mind blowing. My sister thought the mojito was good as well but nothing special Overall, it's a good restaurant, but it is definitely not something worth driving out of your way for. If you are wanting to try something new and are in the area, I would give it a go. read more

This is one of the best burger places in the Bryan/College Station area! I give it 4 stars because the service isn't the best (they always find a way to screw up someone's order). Their burgers are better than their tacos, and the Yuppy fries are a must! The burgers are small, so order a double if you're hungry. The food takes a while to come out, but it's always delicious. This is a true hole in the wall restaurant and a gem. It's a little hard to see from the street, but worth the time it takes to find. The atmosphere is inviting and has the feeling that the restaurant has been their for quite a while. I had the BBQ Expresso, shrimp taco with their Idaho potato fries with their Yuppy sauce. The BBQ taco is not on the menu yet but soon to come. It's a marinated stake with via Dalia onions, sprouts and a special sauce. The licenses to Krill "fish taco" is their version of shrimp tacos with all of the standard fixings. Also theirs a sauce that's on the taco that great. It's hard to find a restaurant that is casual and comfortable but professional with their workers and staff. Everyone is awesome here. I tried the el Jefe and the guppy sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were amazing!!! The el jefe was interesting as well with the chorizo, but they charged $0.15 to sub the white bun for a wheat bun. In addition, my mom asked to put the ranch sauce on the side (and not in the burger Bc she doesn't like sauce), and they charged $0.25 for that even though she didn't even use it. I found it ridiculous that they didn't mention the extra charges... or that they had to charge at all for those minimal requests.
