Nice German spot in Bryan, came on a chilly January night and was seated right away, it was winding down for the evening so there weren't as many patrons but our group got to place a few rounds of drinks and then we each got try a different Schnitzel on the menu (you get to choose between pork, chicken, or veal) It was pretty good, the veal I got was tender and had a nice breading.. The spaetzle and potatoes were all good, potato salad being my favorite side of the night. Definitely fit the description of a cozy Bavarian vibe here, there's a bar area and plenty of tables. Service was attentive and efficient and our waitress even gave us a few pretzels to go as they were closing, very nice of them. We think they're open? So we walked into Murphy's, saw a bartender and two servers sitting at a table. No one greeted us, we sat our selves, and sat, and sat. My daughter wants to eat German food, I look on Yelp of course and Bavarian Brauhaus looks like it got good reviews for the food, so we go check it out. We go in. Kid seats us at the weirdest table right in the middle of the bar area. It is the only high table and we feel oddly exposed there. So I ask if we can sit in one of the regular tables and we move. I'm still wondering why he sat us in odd place when there were many empty tables. Only 3 other tables had people. We order the pretzels with cheese sauce to start, guy who seated us was also our waiter tells us that they ran out of cheese sauce, would mustard be ok? Sure. Pretzels come out with mustard, they were ok. Same as any other pretzel app. My daughter order some kind of breaded pork with cream sauce and spaetzle. It was bad. I mean it smelled like it went bad. I ordered the bratdog with spaetzle and potato salad on the side. I took a couple of bites, it was ok but not grilled like the menu stated. The German potato salad was not good. I've had plenty of German potato salad, believe me, this was not good. The spaetzle was ok and so were my fries. My other daughter had a Caesar salad and mashed potatoes. The salad was some lettuce, a little cheese and 8 million croutons, no dressing. The mashed potatoes was the potato salad mashed up a little. The guy that sat us and was our waiter was either afraid of us or hated us for asking to move tables because her just kept running by our table and it was hard to get his attention. I heard him checking in and talking to the table behind us and he was friendly to them. We had to ask for water 3 times and it was extremely difficult to get his attention for the water and the dressing for the salad. Maybe this place is really just a bar or maybe it is on its way to going out of but there was something definitely wrong and im not understanding how it got decent reviews for the food. I would not have even cared that we were ignored if the food had been edible but it wasn't and why did I have to pay $12 for 2 pretzels when we didn't even get cheese sauce? 2 pretzels cost more than my entree! We each got a peppermint patty with the check. It was good. I don't know. The whole thing and even the good reviews here on yelp were extremely confusing. One even compared the food to what he had eaten in Germany. I can promise anyone who is reading this review, that and the other 5 star reviews are a lie. And yes, I have been to Germany. read more

I have been wanting to visit this place for a while, but somehow I never did. Today was my first visit and I fell in love with this place. The interior offers a very cozy Bavarian vibe, and the food is so good! We started with a bratwurst sampler from the appetizer. It offers 3 kinds of sausages plus sauerkraut and potato salad. The schnitzel is so crispy outside and juicy inside. I swapped spätzle for sauerkraut again. The portion size is very generous, and it is delicious. Oh the bread pudding! I don't have a sweet tooth but I couldn't put it down. It's so rich in flavor yet not overwhelming. We ended up cleaning every single plate today. We loved our server today. Driving by, they had us intrigued by the colocation with an Irish pub. It reminded us of a similar German restaurant back in Denver cohoused with a Wisconsin themed bar! The place must've been poppin before we arrived because 95% of the tables needed to be wiped down!! There was only 1 waiter but he was amazing! Best German food I've had - hands down. My roommate and I tried Bavarian Brauhaus for the first time just before we graduate because we had heard great things, and I wish I had tried it sooner! The schnitzel was delicious, well seasoned, huge, and very crispy! The Saurkraut was great (warm, which threw me off at first), and I liked the Spaetzle. Came here Friday for a rehearsal dinner. Great Wiener schnitzel and drink selection. The spicy beer sauce was amazing and the schnitzel was tender and crunchy. The space great for meeting with friends casually or (like this day), hosting a big event. We had the whole upstairs and it was a lot of fun. They had a decent draft selection as well as cans/bottles. I requested a citrusy beer and the bartender found me a really smooth and light IPA. Bottom Line: Authentic German food in subdued space at inexpensive price from friendly folks. Top Line: I happened into the Bavarian Brauhaus in downtown Bryan TX on a Monday night. Monday is schnitzel special night, so I ordered a pork jagerschnitzel to be accompanied by spaetzle, red cabbage, cucumber salad with dill dressing, and a Paulaner Munich Dunkel dark beer to wash it down. The schnitzel was $10, the beer $5, and the total ringout including tax & an upcharge for the salad I think, was a hair over $18.50. It was a generously large meal, so a very good value. The schnitzel was just like the ones I had eaten in my years in Bavaria. The pork cutlet was pounded very very thin, about 1/4" thick, then breaded and fried very crunchy crisp. It was also a generously large schnitzel, over 8" long. The seasoning in the mushroom gravy was just right and there was plenty of it on the dish. The schnitzel was an impeccably well executed bit of cooking that rang very very true to it's German roots, at least according to my taste buds and remembrance. For red cabbage I was anticipating German rotkohl, with it's vinegary tang & hints of spices. Instead on the plate was a small bit of plain red cabbage that I think had been sauteed to much firmer than al dente, almost left salad crunchy solid. The carrot julienne alongside the cabbage was at the same level of solidity & cooking. So the veggies were a disappointment & a miss. The spaetzle on the other hand were the real deal. Buttery nodules of dumplings that had been sauteed & browned ever so slightly. The taste was rich. The dense texture nicely chewy and substantial. The portion size was generous. They made an excellent accompaniment to the richly sauced schnitzel. The cucumber dill salad was quite good, though the format was different from my past experience. This salad had chunks (vs water thin slices) of cucumber drenched with a creamy dressing that came well loaded with dill weed. Again, portion size was generous. The Munich Dunkel beer was also the real deal. I drank plenty of this in my time in Deutschland, so a huge "Thank you!" to the gang at the Brauhaus for the stroll down memory lane. Staff was friendly, conscientious, and professional. The interior of the room is fairly dark subdued lighting and rustic surfaces. It was also pretty quiet when I was there. If you're in search of authentic German food in the Bryan TX area, stop into the Bavarian Brauhaus for a shot of the old country that tastes mighty mighty good. read more

Bavarian Brauhaus is a nice little German restaurant tucked into old-town Bryan co-located with an Irish Bar (Murphy's Law'). The food is always good, with a number of scnitzel & gravy options in addition to a full menu. The sides (especially the saurkraut and "mashed" potatoes are excellent. On "Bottomless Mondays" you can get refills of their chicken or pork schnitzel & gravy for ~ $3. This past week my wife & I each ordered a schnitzel, a "bottomless Monday" refill, a moscato, and a soda. The total post-tax was $44. One of the servers gave very honest recommendations about a few food and drink options, which was refreshing. The atmosphere here is pretty lively and loud. This is great for going on a dinner with friends, not so good for a date. The food is pretty good, albeit a bit overpriced. The service is really friendly, but a bit inefficient. We had to wait like 40 minutes to get our food. Our waitress told us that they were not doing the beer flights that night because it was hard to deal with lots of people going for that. However, we saw many tables get the beer flights. So clearly that was a lie. The beer is amazing though. Please get the beer here. I got the dunkel beer and loved it. If I didn't have to drive, I would have had like 3 more. read more

Morgan, was very engaging and attentive and made the experience memorable. The Holstein Schnitzel, German potato salad, and Sauerkraut were superb. Driving by my wife noticed a small Irish Bar with a sign next door with Brauhaus. That sounded intriguing so we walked into basically a well done replica of a German Brauhaus! We ordered a pretzel with cheese and a sample plate and of course 2 litre beets that were all great! Our poor waitress who was juggling 11 tables single handedly was great and never left you neglected at all! Highly disappointing. Beautiful atmosphere!!! Walked in at 530pm and there was no customers...asked where we should sit and she stated wherever. So we decided to sit at the table just as you enter the bar area as there was some good music playing overhead. Wish she would have told us that we would only get bar service and would have to walk up there and order everything...might have chosen a seat in the "restaurant" area instead, it had been a long day. Went up to the bar to order and we had a party of 4 (it took a while to order). There was another person standing in line looking to order a drink and he gave up and left. I ordered an old fashioned and it was probably the most blah that I have ever had. You can see it in the pic of my food that I will post. I also ordered the jagerschnitzel which I have been craving for months...1/2 of the schnitzel was breading and it was super chewy. The gravy had too much flour in it and it was super thick.
