I took my personal laptop in to Metro PC works after getting a recommendation from my boss…read more Chris was super nice on the phone, said his shop guy George would take care of me. I spoke with George when i dropped the machine off. Told him what i wanted. Asked him about the hardware that they use, which was in line with my research. They did the MS 10 install and data migration, which was difficult because the old drive had a corrupt sector. George was able to work some magic and retrieve the data. He also tested everything, installed some free AV software that runs in the back ground without being resource hogs. I totally recommend Metro PC Works. I am particular about who i trust my machine with, and will definitely use these guys again. They are courteous, knowledgeable, trustworthy, and priced reasonably. They also did not try to over sell me. Quick and communicative about time and process. Thanks guys!

When our hard drive died we were kind of at a loss. It was the middle of a bad week ( fender…read morebender, My dad in hospital, handful of other crap). Was it dead or only mostly dead? Would we recover our stuff? Our pictures that we foolishly had not printed or backed up. Hubby searched on the web, I posted questions here. Hubby was pretty sure we needed a clean room to recover our data.Hubby knew this because it was making scary noises and he is a software guy. I just go with what he says, I'm a technically challenged social work type. I smile and nod or frown as needed. In a web search for Portland hard drive recovery hubby found Stentorian Data, a local outfit. Steven Lloyd came to our home, picked up the whole PC, took it with him, diagnosed the problem...indeed it was a physical drive failure that required clean room work, shipped it to a place in CA that does the clean room thing, and about a week later we had a new hard drive with all the data restored fully installed by Steve back into the PC. Everything back to us as it was, well better really. He brought it back to our home, too. The cost? Most was for the lab, Steve's labor costs were totally reasonable. He was efficient and professional and we are satisfied with the outcome. Whew. Disaster averted. Hubby would have been really hard to live with if the outcome had been otherwise, so I'm pretty darn relieved.

He says he got all my files off but he can't restore my drive, so he was going to come over and just put my files on my computer. He cancelled the appointment where he was going to do this, then we were out of town for two weeks. When I came back, I called him to make another appointment, and he has not returned my numerous messages, on email, messaging, phone or otherwise. He has my two drives, and I have one of his with some of my files that I cannot open successfully (which is why we needed to redo all this. He was supposed to be bringing me the files in a format I could open. I want to return his drive to him, and get my two drives back. I finally went to his downtown office during business hours. He was not there. I called him from the office to let him know I am pursuing this. I just want a return call to see what's happening and to get my equipment back. I'll have to call the police to get him at his home, if I can find him. BTW, I left him very respectful messages, told him I wasn't angry, and begged him to call me. That was true then. Not so much now.

I called Jeff on 2/28 for a keyboard replacement for my ASUS TUF. Which has worked flawlessly for 4…read moreyears. I had picked off the backspace key and couldn't not get it back on. Apparently the whole keyboard had to be replaced. Sounds good. Was quoted 150$. Cool. Was told to come pick it up on 3/5 and that it was good to go. Got a call today 3/6 that the laptop would not turn on and apparently the ribbon cable was not connected to the motherboard. He mentioned soldering something and how it would completely break the laptop. He said That three screws were missing and asked if anyone has ever opened it before. No. It has never been opened before. Only used for school work. He said that the motherboard disconnecting was not from him because he went in from the top to replace the keyboard. FYI. Jeff. There is no way to go in from the top of the laptop. After we brought the laptop home and paying 100$ for Jeff to break my laptop we opened it up and it blatantly is visible that he flipped the motherboard over to access the keyboard and that it snapped the ribbon from the motherboard. With having a video of the laptop working fully the night before it makes it obvious that I not only paid 100$ for him to break my laptop but I also paid 100$ for him to lie to me and blame me for something he broke. 0/10 IGN. I know now not to put my faith in humanity again and assume that people have good intentions and will tell me the truth. Now I have to replace my entire laptop costing me 1k. Good thing my school work can be restored off the ssd hard dive. Good luck to lying ass Jeff.

Awesome awesome Skyen... PC magicians for us non-techno business owners!…read more I initially contacted Skyen to step up my PC security since I am a small business owner working in a field that demands high security for documents/emails filled with non-public information. My area of expertise is for my business and not in computer software so Skyen came to my office to check out my current set-up and to discuss my options. Marc was wonderful.... patient, super knowledgeable and dedicated to finding the best solution for my needs at a price I could afford. Enter Jeff.... Amazing wonderful PC Wizard Jeff. He was the technician responsible for migrating my email to another safer platform on my PC, all done remotely. Can't believe how complicated the work was (given my email situation) but he did it all. And lucky me, Jeff took care of the work without me having to stick around (read that: I got to go to my jobs [read that: earn money] without having to stick around the office). And once the migration was done, Jeff patiently showed me how to navigate my new email system. There were a few follow-up tweaks that he took care of too. Can't say enough great things about the work that was done or how I was treated. REALLY REALLY appreciate the service! And now I am in total compliance with my industry requirements. Thank you Skyen!
