My laptop decided to give up the ghost after several years- ironically, on the VERY day I was…read moreplanning to download all my photos onto a hard drive. It started with my taskbar freezing, then disappearing. After a hard reboot, I had a blank screen. Not being terribly computer savvy, I tried several times over the next few days to restart the computer and would get a message while it was going through its startup cycle, but then it would just cycle endlessly or eventually display a blank screen. After multiple attempts at internet fixes using my phone, I took the computer to a local repair shop, but it was too severely corrupted to repair. The proprietor did take out the hard drive and reinstalled Windows 10, and also gave me a business card for Cascadia Data Recovery. I decided to go ahead and try the service, because they advertised a set rate with no payment if no data was recovered. I called Cascadia and spoke to a very helpful person who detailed how to send my corrupted drive to them and what to expect. I was sent instructions and a shipping label via email as well. A couple of days after I shipped the drive, Cascadia sent me a message that my data was recovered, and included a view-only attachment that showed the names of the recovered files. Everything was there! I was given the option to pay the fee at that time if I wanted to continue with the data recovery, as well as to have the data downloaded to a new external hard drive (for the cost of the drive- they will not accept one from the customer). I paid the fees via credit card and was shipped the drive shortly afterward. I couldn't be more pleased with the service and customer care I received. I have recommended Cascadia to a few people already and will continue to do so!

I have an Alienware M15 R7 and received the 2 red, 3 blue issue. Jason let me know he could not service my laptop because they are backlogged with work. He did, however, walk me through, step by step, what to do to check and diagnose the issue from Friday - Saturday via phone calls and text messages. It was a great learning experience for me, and as well, a testament to the reviews that have been left on here previous to mine. I would /highly/ recommend this business for any computer issues, as they will go above and beyond, to ensure you receive service, even if they cannot work on your computer immediately. Going forward, this will be the only place I go to, in the Portland Area, to have my electronic devices worked on. Thank you again for the superb customer service, Flux Computer Repair.

He thoroughly explained the situation with my laptop, asked lots of questions, shared his knowledge and my chances of recovery versus repair costs versus buying a new laptop. In short, after his taking the time to explain all this to me, I came up with a plan of action. (Note: All his help over the phone was done without a guarantee of me coming into this shop!) I feel fortunate to have spoken with him. I highly recommend Jason and his business.

He sounded so disappointed I wasn't into buying, I mention the 8GB GTX 3070 I have and some high latency DDR4. He just sticks to the ram and says he doesn't buy it, then I reiterated the 3070-- you could tell he perked up. "Oh! You have a 3070?!" I tell him, "Yes, that is what I said." I ask his going rate, he just wants me to throw out a number-- mind you, I had no idea this is the owner (apparently). I ask again, his rate-- he wants to tell me that before he can offer he has to run tests and the tests could in fact take days. Days?! Now, I've ran a shop like this before. I have a background in CIS. I know the tests necessary, a benchmark, a processing overview to check for spikes-- simple things. Never takes, DAYS. I ask, "When was the last time you bought a 3070?" He replied, "a few days ago." I ask him how much he gave, he told me, "100 bucks." I admittedly scoff, I wanted more like 225, I ask him to meet me in the middle at 150. He wants to tell me more about his tests. I inquire further on these, "tests." He is now coping a attitude, wants to let me know he is the owner and at this point he isn't interested and he wouldn't be, "dropping the things he needs to do to run a business." Well, I'll tell ya what, I wouldn't want to shop at a place like this and though I wouldn't be still willing to sell to them-- nah, nah.. Not with that attitude and such a pretentious way to talk to potential customers. Shoppers be warned, and I'd recommend if you go to buy-- ask to test products for a couple of days before paying.

We needed a drastic…read moredata recovery, and had gone to two previous places before that weren't able to provide the service we needed. We were referred to NeuralEarth as "the people who can get it done". We needed expedited service, and when we walked in, the folks there literally took the drive out of our hands and started working on it immediately. Within 12 hours, we had a diagnosis, and within 48 hours, we had the recovered data. This was a LIFESAVER. Yes, you will pay more money for services like this, but compared to other places we tried (and that couldn't provide the services in the time we needed), this was so very worth it. The folks at NeuralEarth are dedicated, very knowledgeable, and all-around awesome. I can't thank them enough. If you need critical data recovered, you won't find better than NeuralEarth.

After several months of agony, I took it to Adrian at Bridgetown Electronics Repair (who had just helped me with a broken smartphone). He was not optimistic, since it appeared that the hard drive itself was the problem. After some discussion, I agreed with his suggestion to send it to NeuralEarth. I got a phone call from NeuralEarth the next day to let me know they had my drive and we discussed their process, what kind of expectations were realistic for me to have, etc. Their $50 fee for an initial diagnosis would be applied to any additional work I agreed to following the diagnosis; of course I agreed to that! They called me sooner than I'd expected to say that, yes, the problem was the drive itself but they were confident they could get most, if not all, of my data! The quote for the Tier 3 recovery was $600 (about which I gulped, then agreed to--after all, any recovery was more than I'd have otherwise!) and, as I was going to need a new hard drive anyway, I agreed to have them go ahead and get me a better-than-average model for an additional $67.99. I just had my final phone call with them. The only files they weren't able to recover were my operating system (which was not a surprise but also no loss, since it can easily be downloaded and installed to the new drive) and a few system files that were also of no use to me otherwise. At this point, my new drive will be delivered to Adrian to reinstall in my desktop box. Although I would--of course--have preferred to pay less for the work, I could not be more pleased, and cannot recommend NeuralEarth more highly!
