I want to start by extending a heartfelt thank you to the team at Flux Computer. Jason, I believe it was, provided the best support I could have ever asked for and I was not even able to have him repair my Laptop. I called on 11/22/24 because my laptop would not boot up. I have an Alienware M15 R7 and received the 2 red, 3 blue issue. Jason let me know he could not service my laptop because they are backlogged with work. He did, however, walk me through, step by step, what to do to check and diagnose the issue from Friday - Saturday via phone calls and text messages. It was a great learning experience for me, and as well, a testament to the reviews that have been left on here previous to mine. I would /highly/ recommend this business for any computer issues, as they will go above and beyond, to ensure you receive service, even if they cannot work on your computer immediately. Going forward, this will be the only place I go to, in the Portland Area, to have my electronic devices worked on. Thank you again for the superb customer service, Flux Computer Repair. read more

Excellent customer service from Jason! I was visiting Portland for a week and something major happened to my laptop. I started blindly making calls and Jason called back quickly. He thoroughly explained the situation with my laptop, asked lots of questions, shared his knowledge and my chances of recovery versus repair costs versus buying a new laptop. In short, after his taking the time to explain all this to me, I came up with a plan of action. (Note: All his help over the phone was done without a guarantee of me coming into this shop!) I feel fortunate to have spoken with him. I highly recommend Jason and his business. read more

Jason at Flux Computer was incredibly responsive in helping me get my new Mac up and running. I have a very old laptop that needed to be replaced and all data and photos transferred. Not only did he do the transfer, he also cleaned up a bunch of extra messes I had accumulated. He asks the right questions, has amazing patience with me as a non techie and he handled everything I needed. As a huge bonus, Jason worked over the weekend to meet a tight timeline I had to get my computer before the holiday. Super grateful and I'll be happy to work with Flux computer again soon! read more

Three words describe Jason's approach to business: Superior Customer Service Although he was not able to schedule an appointment due to no availability. he was very helpful over the phone. He was able to provide excellent information that was very helpful in solving the issue. In addition, he followed up by sending links and videos that are invaluable in regards to their information. Truly a gem in a world of dull rocks. read more

My computer, in Midland, TX, was hacked and I was terrified; however, my daughter knew a computer repairman in Portland, OR, and I contacted him. Jason, the owner thereof, said he could fix my computer by remote control. I agreed and HE DID FIX MY COMPUTER and cleaned up my laptop, all the time advising me what he was doing, at a very reasonable price. All I can say is that if anyone, anywhere needs a smart, capable, computer tech, who happens to care about his clients, Jason is the one to call. Not only will I stay in touch with him, but if any of my friends in Midland, TX, have computer problems, I will be sure to recommend Jason to him. WE NEED MORE JASONs in this world, it would be a much nicer place. WOW!!!!!! read more

Jason is literally the most helpful, customer service centric tech professional I have ever engaged with. He took time out of his day to guide me on Mac warranty items over the phone. He offered specific hardware and workflow suggestions that will save me time, money and the frustration of trying to glean the info from multiple sources. Although his shop is booked right now, it's great to know he offers phone consultation at an hourly rate for things we can address remotely. It's refreshing to speak with someone who's helpful and caring right now when my nerves are perpetually on edge from this nutty year. read more

The first time my bf and I used a computer repair shop, and we chose the right place to go! My laptop was having WiFi connectivity issues and wouldn't toggle off airplane mode. I brought it into Flux and (this might be a moot point for some of you, but I think it's a great sign), a woman greeted me, friendly, knowledgeable, and quick! My computer was repaired in less than a week and I was updated on all potential issues throughout that timeframe. Prices are upfront and quite reasonable! This is the place to go! read more

One of my work computers simply stopped--died-- and I had no idea why. Jason was able to accept it early that day as a Rush job, fixed & returned it same day. I am a happy customer for life! read more

Jason was extremely helpful -- calling back twice about two different computer issues. One was water damage and the other was computer accessory related. I technically wasn't' a client, but he still was able to help answer my questions. read more

Flux stands out over the many other computer repair options in town. They go above and beyond and seem to love helping people. I was looking for a used 2015 MacBook Pro, because the GPU in my older machine was dying. While they didn't have one in stock, Jason the owner was *exceptionally* helpful and knowledgable, and told me in great detail what to look for on eBay. He knew exactly what was going on with my older computer, and told me honestly it was not worth repairing. Even though he wasn't going to make an immediate buck off this transaction, he was happy to help and answer additional questions via text. I ultimately found the perfect maxed out 2015 MacBook Pro online that I've been using for the past 3 months. I will definitely go here in the future for any repair needs. read more

Had a problem with one of our desktop computers recently. Dell helped troubleshoot but turns out they mis-diagnosed the problem selling us on a new motherboard when it was really a power supply issue. Gave Jason a call at Flux Computer Repair and before I could even finish describing the problem he knew exactly what it was and came right over to our office to pick it up. He worked on it and delivered it on time and at a reasonable price. His service time was amazing! A+ Really appreciate a good computer tech and Jason is certainly one of them. I have added Flux Computer Repair to our company contacts for the next time any of us need help with one of our systems. Thanks again Jason for doing a great job and being so timely. read more

Jason is INCREDIBLE. It can be really scary choosing a computer repair business with all of the so-called experts out there, but I felt pretty confident calling Jason after seeing his YELP reviews. I'm so happy I did! My husband's laptop crapped out (blue screen of death type deal) just days before a huge work conference and we needed it repaired FAST. Jason answered my first call and was able to get my computer in the very next morning. By that evening he had the situation figured out. I was really impressed by his ability to describe the issue in a manner I could understand and it was also clear that he really knows his stuff. I felt like the laptop was in good hands. I was even more impressed how quickly Jason got the computer back to us! With all the issues he found and the work that needed to be done, I thought for sure it would take longer but he understood we needed it back fast and he delivered. Now, the laptop is running better than the first day we brought it home! He's a magician. In fact, he was so great that I asked him to work on the computer at our small business. Turns out, not much can be done for the cheap desktop we purchased but he was still able to make enough changes that it runs a lot smoother and has helped improve the quality of life running our gym. I will take every computer I ever own to him and would HIGHLY recommend him to friends and other business owners. read more

I'm a freelance writer and blogger, and, needless to say, am pretty dependent upon my laptop. So imagine my chagrin when, one morning, I tried to fire it up and get to work, only to find freezing screens and a variety of malfunctions. I ran my usual diagnostics (I'm not completely computer illiterate), and couldn't solve my own problems. I called Jason, who was available promptly--he chatted with me about my problem over the phone, scheduled a time the same day to pick up my laptop, and promptly returned it--fixed, beautifully--in less than a day. (He picked it up at 3 in the afternoon and had it back to me by morning.) That's one hell of a turnaround time. Not only was he prompt, reliable, friendly--his rates were reasonable and fair. He returned my laptop in pristine condition, and it's running faster and more efficiently than ever. He even talked to me about how to avoid problems in the future, and advised me about backup options, and talked a little about potential pitfalls down the road. I was pleased with the timeframe, service, honesty, friendliness, reasonable rates, and am extremely satisfied. I will return to Jason with future questions and IT help--and recommend him to others. When it comes to laptops and technology, trust is paramount--and I feel like I can trust Jason and Flux. read more

I can't say enough about how Jason just saved me and my Macbook. Dropped off at 4:15pm, was able to pick up the next morning (Sunday) by 10am on a job that other shops quoted 48hrs on. I now have confidence in knowing that I have a solid go-to when it comes any computer device that needs attention. Thanks for saving me and my project deadline, Jason! read more

Got an incredibly bad virus on my computer. Jason was not only able to get rid of it but did it without any impact to my computer files. He was also able to set up systems so this will not happen again. Was not sure about having someone come into my home to do this but was 100% comfortable with Jason from the moment I met him. So you know those days "when it rains it pours"? Yea. I had one of those last night in the HEAT of midterms at PSU and just when I thought I couldn't have a more exhausting night of studying my computer froze up and refused to reboot properly. My MacBook pro got the "grey screen of death" or the "flashing grey question mark folder" - not really sure what is the real name but essentially after working with an Apple Care lady over the phone testing reboot options with no avail, I began searching handy dandy Yelp. I actually had sent a message to "Mac a Wish" or something like that but he informed me he was out of town for the rest of the month but boy am I glad he was because I found Jason at Flux Computer Repair! I also got about 7 other quotes from top rated local computer repair shops and NONE of them suspected the drive cable like Jason did, all were almost positive it was a failed hard drive. Another factor why I chose him over the others! Jason was the fastest response to my Yelp quote request and called me once I responded with more details about my situation to set up a drop off time the next morning! (Talk about great service already) Drop off was super easy and Jason was extremely pleasant to work with - combo of understanding my student situation, friendly and professional. He had a feeling he knew what went wrong with my hard drive and set out to fix it. Ended up not being my entire hard drive (like other technicians said it was) which was a huge relief! Dropped off my computer around 8:30, he was done with fixing it around noon and I picked it up by 3pm! SO SO SO helpful amidst the time crunch of midterms! His pricing was reasonable too for the short notice of work as well as the care of work. He also ran tests on my hard drive as well as fixed few things here and there which was a great bonus. Overall, if you have an urgent or semi-urgent computer repair I would go straight to Jason. He is an amazing and honest business and I will be coming back when I decide to upgrade my hard drive! #gotoJason read more

I own a small business and I have been for many years our IT person. All of my knowledge comes from Google-ing our computer problems and finding answers that way. It worked well in the beginning, but as we have added more people our problems have become more complex and my time, well there is just less of it. We recently had an tricky issue with our Wifi network. Jason was the first person I called and I was glad to hear this sort of thing was right up his alley. The problem was solved for apporx $200 in equipment and $250 in labor. A steal of a deal considering the productivity we had lost dealing with the problem over the last few weeks. In the future I will no longer waste my valuable time being the IT person and just call Jason. read more

I was in need of a new computer guy to help me with hardware configurations since Old Town Computers shut down, and Jason filled the role perfectly. He even came out to my house (because I'm not driving at the moment) and within an hour and twenty minutes he installed a new power supply and GPU and had everything running perfectly. I may have learned a thing or two as well. Look no further, this is the service for you. read more

Jason was a big help. Fixed my Mac Book while I waited downstairs at Starbucks. The one thing that I was worried about was parking downtown, but I was able to find a spot right away. Very highly recommend Jason and his expertise.! My computer was horribly infested with a few viruses and he was able to diagnose, remove and protect my hard drive and return the computer in a timely fashion-!! I began noticing a few weird pop-ups and lagging on my computer a week or so ago. I called Jason to inspect what all was going on w/ it. He did a full diagnosis and was able to tell where the problem came from and where the virus had all spread to. It was refreshing to have someone who was sincere and truly knowledgable in helping me with my computer--- I am not computer savvy at ALL and it was nice to find someone who really did want to fix the problem than prey on and weasle me out of time or money. He even went so far to help me with my router and personalizing my desktop afterwards to make it user friendly and malware protected. Definitely recommended and will definitely use him again!! read more

Jason is a consummate professional. He does what he says he is going to do...and more...and on time. As a luddite when it comes to computers, it is such a relief to work with someone I can trust to tell me like it is, propose options, and pros and cons of any given decision. He is also very educated as to what's happening in the marketplace which provides a great perspective when trying to decide whether or not to repair or replace something or buy something new. And on top of it all, Jason is a great communicator which makes doing business with him a real pleasure. read more

All I can say is that Jason at Flux Computer Repair is the bomb. I had a critical issue with my laptop on a Sunday morning, during a snow and ice storm, and Jason took care of it and had my laptop back in business within hours. He is the consummate professional. He communicated with me and set reasonable expectations. I would add that I have high expectations:-) I am probably not the best client, because I get easily frustrated with technology. He was very straight forward when we met, and he looked at my laptop. He explained very well how he would diagnose the problem and made no promises that he couldn't deliver, but as it turned out, he had me back to work within a few hours. I am sooooo impressed with this guy. I wish he actually worked for my business. I am a middle aged professional, not so tech savvy, actually tech intolerant. Jason has the level of professionalism that is above reproach. I can easily give him my highest recommendation. It is refreshing to meet such competent and professional people who are passionate about what they do. Seriously, don't go anywhere else. Norm read more

Here's some basic life advice: for your personal/business computer repair, don't call the big box or name-brand companies. Just because they wear matching polo shirts, that doesn't guarantee better service or expertise. What you need is "a guy." Jason is that guy. I've used him for all of my Mac repairs, and he's been fantastic. Then, a couple of weeks ago I reached out to him to build a PC for editing big 4K VR video files in Premiere Pro. He crushed the project, and put together a custom setup that far exceeded my original specs and will last for a long time. (Our target was future-proofing to 10K video.) He hustled to get it out ahead of schedule, though slightly over budget (I let him talk me into a couple of upgrades). He loves what he does and it just shows in so many ways. Absolutely amazing service! For a college student currently working on their senior year and an internship, having your computer go out on you tends to feel like the worst situation. Jason was great. My computer went into a blue screen of death loop on a Saturday. I was worried and he was able to schedule an appointment for him to work on my computer that afternoon. I unfortunately got stuck at work and had to postpone. He again made arrangements for me to drop off my computer, on a Sunday! Within 1 hour of dropping it off he had a diagnosis and was working to save my files. He was super nice and helpful, kept me updated all along the way. He saved most of my files. Then he put in a new hard drive and my computer runs faster than ever. I picked up my computer Monday, 2 days after the blue screen of death loop. I am so happy with the service and my computer. Jason was very knowledgeable, clear and friendly to speak with. I would highly recommend him for all types of computer repair assistance. I went to the Mac store with my Macbook Pro and the guy who ran the diagnostics was extremely vague, saying I had to send it out to their repair department to see what was wrong, and likely costing me between $575-$1200. For no charge, Jason investigated my computer's issue and found that it's problem was part of an apple recall so I could have it fixed for free! He also gave me costs for other possible issues and their solutions, how to prevent the problem by better heat management and was overall SUPER HELPFUL!
