Jim gives a brief guesstimate of what he thinks may be the problem. He's very up front by saying it could be more or less but he won't do anything without calling me with the diagnosis and reviewing the details of what he will fix. I dropped my laptop off on Thursday afternoon and it was ready the very next day. I have been working with Jim since 2012. I was away from the area last year and I took my machine to Geek Squad. I regret the whole experience. They had my laptop for 2 weeks, told me it would be about $90 and ended up over$300. They gave me a big folder with paper explaining what they fixed but I couldn't understand it. That's what I appreciate with Jim. Next time I won't sweetest the 40 min drive to Beaverton. The voicemail states that the business is no longer supporting new residential customers (only existing residential customers with support plans). Come here when you need the big guns…read more My Macbook Pro broke down, badly. He said he had 30 years of experience and by the time he was finished repairing it I believed him. I also appreciated his commitment to lifelong learning, being excited to work on a problem he hadn't seen before, which turned out to be a physically melted wire on the hard drive itself that was probably caused by a dust particle shorting it out. I don't think other computer repair places could have diagnosed and fixed my issue as quickly, and would have probably just given me the "you're better off just buying a new computer" line. For the amount of additional painstaking work of saving some of my files the total bill was very reasonable. My only regret that time was buying the additional RAM space he offered to put in while the computer was disassembled, which as far as I have noticed has only speeded up the boot up. If you already are pretty happy with your computer speed then save 60 bucks and skip this option. Two weeks later an internal cable gave out. Again he came to the fast and reasonable rescue and was able to improvise.

He was a few minutes late, which wasn't a big deal at all, especially since he called and let us know he was running late. He set up my employer's new computer for her, and helped transfer all the old files and he installed all the programs we would need. He was also incredibly helpful the day after the install, when we were having trouble finding some programs. He had us log in to his online IT help account, and took care of our problems remotely.
