Called in asking if they were buying pc parts (because listings everywhere online say they do). Whomever picked up the phone, who then tells me is the owner at the end but we will get to that part, he had told me, "not traditionally but at times." He sounded so disappointed I wasn't into buying, I mention the 8GB GTX 3070 I have and some high latency DDR4. He just sticks to the ram and says he doesn't buy it, then I reiterated the 3070-- you could tell he perked up. "Oh! You have a 3070?!" I tell him, "Yes, that is what I said." I ask his going rate, he just wants me to throw out a number-- mind you, I had no idea this is the owner (apparently). I ask again, his rate-- he wants to tell me that before he can offer he has to run tests and the tests could in fact take days. Days?! Now, I've ran a shop like this before. I have a background in CIS. I know the tests necessary, a benchmark, a processing overview to check for spikes-- simple things. Never takes, DAYS. I ask, "When was the last time you bought a 3070?" He replied, "a few days ago." I ask him how much he gave, he told me, "100 bucks." I admittedly scoff, I wanted more like 225, I ask him to meet me in the middle at 150. He wants to tell me more about his tests. I inquire further on these, "tests." He is now coping a attitude, wants to let me know he is the owner and at this point he isn't interested and he wouldn't be, "dropping the things he needs to do to run a business." Well, I'll tell ya what, I wouldn't want to shop at a place like this and though I wouldn't be still willing to sell to them-- nah, nah.. Not with that attitude and such a pretentious way to talk to potential customers. Shoppers be warned, and I'd recommend if you go to buy-- ask to test products for a couple of days before paying. read more

I took in my computer because my macbook pro screen was flickering constantly. They didn't warn me over the phone to bring my charger so I had to drive all the way back home to bring it back which was an inconvenience. Then it took almost 2 weeks for them to inspect my laptop. I had to call them several times to check on its status because it was taking forever. All in all, they couldn't identify the issue even after I sent them a video of the issue. The inspection fee set me back $100 and my screen continues to flicker. Never again coming back here. read more

This place has apparently hit on hard times. I've used them in the past and they were great. The man currently working the front desk and answering phones has no problem lying to your face. It was wild. When he was confronted with the lies, he refused to explain himself and at one point, handed the phone to the technician. I witnessed him answering the phones and saying "I don't know" over and over again to customers. Sad, they used to have a great group here... not anymore. I had a horrible experience with Brainwave. I purchased a refurbished computer for $449, but it had a lot of problems. So many problems that I wanted to return it. However, they have a no return policy, which by itself, deserves a bad rating. They ended up giving me an upgrade to a new computer, supposedly worth $749, but it turned out to be a "white box" computer of inferior quality, labeled with the name Eboniisoft. I couldn't use it without multiple, windows opening up randomly. There's a long story here, that includes threats from the owner. Because of the threat, I took a friend with me to return the Ebonisofft, and I filed a dispute with my credit card company. Brainwave seems to be disputing the return. TBD if I will actually get my money back. In the meantime, I purchased a new computer from Costco, and I think we all know Costco backs all their products. Why doesn't Brainwave? read more

Took some old computers in to have data transferred to a hard drive and then wiped. And took my current newer computer as well. I came back working better than brand new. Same for my husband. Fast turn around time and decent pricing. read more

I really wish I would have read some of these reviews before choosing to go to BrainWave Computers. In short, I was having issues with my PC that were likely hardware related and stopping me from being able to work, primarily due to BSODs (blue screens of death). I needed it resolved immediately. I decided to just rebuild the machine. I've built PCs in the past, but nowadays my PC is very, very high end, so I prefer to have a pro do the work. Fry's was fantastic at this and charged a very reasonable price (flat $59 to do a custom build). Super sad that they are now gone. I found BrainWave and took it in to them, paying for a rush. Mark was nice enough, but there were several parts of the process that took place over several days that were not the best. But the real problem is what has happened since then. Ever since I got the computer back I still get regular BSODs, but now I have a lovely ticking noise that happens occasionally when my fans spin up. I've had several email conversations with Mark and he just keeps blaming hardware and telling me what *I* should due to try and fix it. I've replaced the hardware he blamed, but the problem persists, so Mark was wrong about the hardware and forced me to spend money unnecessarily. Clearly, Mark just doesn't want to take any blame for any of the work he does. Never once has Mark suggested that I bring the computer back in so he could look at it and try to determine what is going on. When I asked if I could schedule a time to bring it in (to minimize the time I'm without my computer while it sits collecting dust at his store while I wait for my turn), he refused. He said I'd just have to bring it in and wait for my turn. Clearly Mark has no empathy or pride in his work. Considering the hefty price that he charges ($200/hour), I will not be returning to BrainWave Computers, and I don't recommend anyone go either. read more

Needed a specific part. A Chassis fan for a z440 hp. Asked the guy if a fan I had grabbed from the front would work as it's a specific 4 pin fan. He says "yeah it will work fine" get back to work and there's a notch preventing it form being seated. Went back and let them know. Guy says I "Destroyed the box" The box I purchased had tape on it from someone else opening it at some point. I pointed out I bought the box that way. He then says he's going to charge me a 15% restocking fee. Even though the employee who told me it would work is standing right next to him telling him that he said it would work. These people are sleezy. They're willing to burn a bridge for 2.25 cents do you really want to trust them with hundreds or thousands of dollars? I recommend you choose a different shop. read more

My laptop was having a hard time holding a charge and I originally went to Geek Squad who said it would be 5 weeks, but they referred me to ubreakitwefixit. Who were very nice but didn't have the ability to solder the needed part, so they referred Brainwave. Brainwave fixed the issue and replaced the fan and it was ready for pickup the following day. read more

They seem to have high turnover. Mark, the owner as I understand it, is good but with some staff, it's a gamble, they seem to have the personalities of 1990s computer chips, like they've learned socialization from video games. Their repairs were OK, the custom desktop they built for a handsome price, limited in performance and upgrade capability. But did I mention the handsome price? And they pronounced There are much better options, more pleasant to deal with for less money. I suggest you seek them out. read more

Unethical and horrible!!!! I was on my deathbed and a previous employer took my personal laptop and had them remove all of my files, didn't even restore it to factory settings and removed my whole office suite which came with the computer!!!!! They knew it was not Mandy Selwyn's computer, but still erased ALL OF MY FILES. When I asked them to make it right and explained the situation, very nicely, might I add, they assured me they would make it right. The owner just said there's nothing they could do and that this is between Mandy and I. How ethical is that?! Is that even legal, to erase someone's laptop when the owner didn't even bring it in? read more

I brought my computer in there 13 days ago just to get the stuff transferred from the old laptop to the new one they said it would take 3-5 days when I called so I brought in the old one. After 7 days I called... they didn't even know who i was or where my old computer was . So 2 days later i called again same thing. Never a call back nothing. 13 days later I went in they told me all my info was on their server and if I wanted it I had to bring in the new computer since I wasnt willing to trust them with my brand new computer and was a very unhappy customer. I had to pay them for a service that was never provided just to get my harddrive back. Customer service sucks! The assistant manager sucks! I love supporting small local businesses bit this place is awful! If you want to get hacked ripped off and never receive what you pay for then thos is your place! read more

Owner is a huge **** who stole $80 from a disabled woman. Product was returned within 40 minutes after the technician sold me a part he said "should work" but failed to. Tech installed it in my computer and tested it. It obviously wasn't working, but the tech refused to accept a return and tried to charge me an extra $75 for labor. The clerk failed to draw attention to the inconspicuous "return policy" sign or verbally recognize it at all when the purchase took place. Just took my money, told me it should work, and shrugged. The clerk didn't even seem to know -where- the return policy he was referencing was located. In the end I left the part I had purchased there without receiving a refund. I received no product and no refund but I am out $80, that's indistinguishable from theft. Did I mention I'm on a fixed income? Yeah. Screw this guy. Worst part is that if the tech had GOOGLED THE PROBLEM FOR 10 MINUTES they would have found a 24 pin to 8 pin ATX adapter that fixes the problem. Instead he told me it just wouldn't work and that I should throw my computer away and buy a new one from them for hundreds of dollars. So not only are they dishonest but they're also dumb. I eventually figured it out and I'm a technical dunce. read more

Do not recommend. Came in with a "blue screen" of computer errors. Within 10 minutes I was told my laptop was too old of equipment to repair, technology unfortunately "stops working. We would be happy to recycle your laptop for free though." Instantly got bad vibes.
