Stay away from those gangsters. They will use shady practices to steal your equipment, telling you among other lies, that it's too old to repair, then they will fix it and sell it. They mis-use their customers' electronic signature and forge commercial invoices and internal documents. Highway robbery! Totally unresponsive. No customer service at all. The worse business experience I ever had. All the positive reviews for this business are most likely fake. Scroll down to the oldest ones to see more truth. ( something I should have done before dealing with those gangsters ). Just disregard any reply / comment to my post, and trust someone who has lost precious weeks thousands of $ dealing with those losers. In this day and age I didn't think to ask for computer help in person, but when I was referred to Brainwave, my expectations were far exceeded. My teen had been building a gaming PC and had run into issues - most notably finding a graphics card. Brainwave had a great selection at reasonable prices (very difficult to find these days) and were able to install the card and ensure the system was running perfectly. I brought my computer in for repair and it took brainwave 3 weeks to give me a completely incorrect diagnosis. They returned the computer claiming it was working, but I took it home and it was not. I had to return it to the store to try to get my money back or get a correct diagnosis, but I ended up with another incorrect diagnosis and no refund. They tried to get me to spend $300 to fix this issue that was not even the problem. I will not be returning to this store and I hope no one else wastes their time and money here. read more

They promptly handled my hard drive crash. It was complicated and they jumped right into it and had it solved as quickly as I think possible. They were reasonable on the price and handled the situation with the Mac and the windows machine, which runs on the Mac using VMWare without any problem. I hope to work with them in the future on some other tasks we need. It's nice to have someone local that will quickly jump into a problem without delay. I will definitely work with them again. If I could do zero stars, I would. Original estimate for fixing my laptop was 2-3 days up to a week. It's been 3 weeks. Picked up my laptop today and it's not working at all. I had my daughters computer repaired here four months ago, it lasted two months, and the same problem it would not turn on. They replaced the mother board originally but would not replace it again as my daughter had pushed the power button in after trying to turn it on many times. At this point they said the warranty had been voided. I can see their point but they really know very little off basic electronics. They also accused me of expecting them to lie to their board supplier, which really irritated me. Here is my response to them. In no way would I expect you to lie!!!!!!!! I am a professional engineer, and expect professionalism from a company as yours, what you failed to do was prove to your supplier that the board was defective and the result of the button being compromised was from the user trying to continually turn it on. Since you could not do that, which is clearly a lack of competence, I will not want to continue using your services. Your comment of no charge for doing what I don't know is what really irritated me. I expected you would have tried to repair the button to see what else could be the problem, and in doing so prove to your supplier the board is defective. I needed to print a case for my raspberry pi 3. I was able to get the file ready and loaded it to a USB drive. They printed it and it took a few hours. I was honestly afraid to bring a work laptop in: I knew there was a virus (at least) and thought it was at the end of its life. I've taken two different lap tops at different times to Brainwave. Both times I was treated with respect and not being very savy with computers, this is important to me. I am pretty sure the person I worked with was Shawn and not once was I dismissed by my inability to verbalize in computer talk, but rather guided to help him understand what was happening to the laptops as well as educated. One of the laptops, a gaming laptop, was fixed within a few days and the other right on the spot. I would absolutely recommend Brainwave to others. Took my PC into Brainwave to assist with upgrading the motherboard. The new board was already put in and I needed help with reconnecting all of the wiring/power etc. I was told that it should take no longer than 1.5hrs, and since it was already partially assembled it was likely it would take less. 3.5hrs later they told me they had everything wired up but the computer would not POST, it was the end of the business day and it would be 2 days before they could look at it again. I opted to take the PC somewhere else and discovered that the power supply in the computer would not work with the new motherboard as it did not have the proper connectors. Brainwave did not have it connected properly, and it was also suspect that they indicated they were powering it on to troubleshoot but they had not yet attached the CPU heatsink/cooler. All in all I do not intend to return to Brainwave for any future PC needs. read more

These guys are awesome. This was my first experience with a PC repair store and they set a VERY high standard for me. They were extremely transparent, never pushed an up sell, and made it seem as if they genuinely cared about my issue. I came in because my PC kept shutting off during gaming. They were able to run some tests on it and tell me exactly what was going on. However, they didn't stop there. Aside from diagnosing my PC, they also just improved its overall quality of life. As an IT professional for 2 decades, I know my hardware - when I didnt have time to put together a coworkers PC (he had installed on the motherboard, into a Small form factor case), I took it in to this shop to get it done. After looking at it for literally 10mins, and wondering how 2 brackets get attached to the case, and noting "this motherboard is really, REALLY strange" (its not - its 100% standard SFF board... theres absolutely NOTHING odd or strange about the mobo), he decided to go with the "you know what, due to liability reasons, I wont work on PCs that arent complete" excuse... couldve said that 10mins ago, BEFORE the comments indicating you were absolutely befuddled and confused by this case.... Anyways, first visit to a computer shop, and last. I'll make time for the PC and wont be baffled by a standard SFF mobo. Oh and before a response is typed up to this by the store, a single mobo is EASILY tested to make sure its functional, as is the chip (when my coworker slotted the chip, thermal grease was not yet applied, and I made the shop aware of this - the PC was never connected to power. Both couldve been EASILY tested in 10mins to make sure they were functional, thus eliminating the liability excuse. Also looks unprofessional when you're keenly aware of the mobo/chip being installed, and dont mention your newfound liability policy until AFTER you display your bewilderment for 10mins. But hey... UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO THE EXTRMEMELY PROFESSIONAL OWNER: Just read his reply, and I can now state, 100% fact, that person is both a liar, and takes things rather personal. NEVER in my life have I said I know more than anyone (i LOVE the quotes btw, since you arent quoting me...). I know "hardware monkeys" (not an insult) who can run rings around what I know. They just enjoy the hardware side of things, as I focus server-side. For me to say I know more than anyone, especially without knowing a person, would be ridiculous. The heatsink had zero paste on it, first off, which was mentioned to you as "not normal" (see i can quote what was actually said, instead of making stuff up and putting quotes around it). But my favorite parts of your reply are these gems: "My third and final clue was when I noticed that every single bracket inside the case was removed" - big guy, this is a SFF case - the brackets were REQUIRED to be removed in order to open the space! The fan bracket on top COVERED THE TOP AND SIDES! Its a solid piece, So yeah, they NEEDED to be removed. The other gem being that you commented that what was done was strange, not the board... you specifically said "This board is strange...Thats a weiiiird board" (again, I use quotes for things actually said) - the chip was in the board - the board was a STANDARD SFF board. You LITERALLY never mentioned not being able to work on it FOR 10 MINS, after which i WAS annoyed, as you looked at it for 10 mins, without mentioning that - had it been mentioned in the first glance, or within the first 5 mins, I wouldve left - instead you wasted my time. Anyhoo - as a sys admin, we dont trouble ourselves with the PC-building side of things, we manage servers, AD, exchange,etc. However, as an enthusiast, yeah I can build a computer - theres nothing difficult about them. I also didnt say I spent 30 mins looking for a store... I said I spent 30mins driving to you, and will then spend 30 going back to the office - quite a difference, as you assume I had 2 hours to build a box, when in fact, 30 mins was spent going to a meeting at intel, and 30mins returning to work. Oh, and you quoted me as saying any halfass shop would do this no problem... I never said that - nor do I use words like "halfass", or judge a shop, based on an initial exchange, as "halfass". Unprofessional, and even inept, sure... but I never label anyone or any place "halfass" You're response is quite odd, and rather defensive. Good luck to you sir. In the future, you may want to not misquote, or make stuff up - comments like those can really legally bite a business in the ass. personally, I dont appreciate being misquoted, and, quite frankly, I don't appreciate the thinly veiled insults. Josh also told me if I called and bothered him about it he would charge me extra. 5 WEEKS LATER I went in to check on it and was told he tried to email me but had the wrong address. Positive: Agreed to service my computer the following day. For the most part friendly. Neutral: Charged a little more than the estimate and did not do what I asked even after I wrote down my requirements for naming the computer. The OEM version of XP he installed had no more licenses and lost its settings and drivers but I survived these minor annoyances. No data was lost and the drive was partitioned as I requested. Frustrating: Unprofessional time management. Not in the office at the posted times, and my laptop was not ready at the time stated. On Day 1, he was doing errands and told me to come back in an hour to drop it off. I also waited more than an hour when I arrived to pick it up. Then it was closing time so I had to come back on Day 2. On Day 2, I called first thing in the morning. He was again "doing errands" and I had to wait before I could drop it off. It was not ready when I arrived 6 hours later and I was promised it would be ready at 5:30. I called at 5 and was told to come back at 6:30 so his accountant could give it to me, she arrived at 7. I wish I could bill him for the gas and my time he wasted. read more

After a power outtage caused some issues with my desktop PC, I brought it in for some repairs. Mark gave me the run down, and I told him what was the expected problem with it and he listened. During that same week I also requested a couple more minor things, and that was done as well. I didn't need my PC to be fixed ASAP, which I expressed to them, so I can't really give an idea of how quick a repair may be by them; but I'm sure they are fast if needed to be. I also thought it was pretty rad that they rounded up the money per hour, and didn't overcharge me. When it was finished they were very up front of what they did to repair the BIOS, and I appreciated that information. Also I read their shop information on their website, and I really appreciate how much they value a customer's privacy and not ripping them off, haha. So kudos to them.
